Good restaurant nearby Waitomo Glowworm Cave. At the balcony, you can see beautiful scenery and a camp ground.
We ordered beef steak, boneless beef short ribs, pasta and kid's pizza. Everyone enjoyed their food!
Food and service was excellent, thanks chef and thank you to Page who looked after us. I had the twice cooked duck leg (amazing) and my partner had the pork hock, which she said was one of the tastiest dishes she has had on our trip. For desert, you can't go past the sticky date with butterscotch sauce, if that's your thing 😋 Definitely recommend a visit to Huhu if you are in the Waitomo Caves area.
Outstanding service and warm welcoming. When we arrived, it was already late afternoon. We were one of the two tables so food were served faster than usual. I enjoyed the mussels dish and the special inhouse bread.
The food was amazing!
We had the beef ribs and pork belly and both delish.
Many gluten free options
Exceptional meal. The best we’ve had in our week in New Zealand. We had the beer battered fish and chips, mushroom fettuccine with bacon and paprika chicken with Israeli couscous. Food was delicious and meal portions were just right to have room for dessert. Highly recommend the apple rhubarb crumble. Excellent service.
The staff was friendly and helpful. However the main we ordered was not to our liking. The salad and the dessert were good though. Forgot to take a photo of the 2 pieces of bread which to me was plain. And not to mention that the food are pricy.
There are not many "higher end" places to eat in Waitomo but this should be your stop if you want to enjoy some New Zealand flavours. Prices are comparable to a café in Auckland and represent good value in this range.
The best dish was peanut butter parfait... An unexpected hit. And the duck was excellent. The other dishes were still very good.
It does get busy so book ahead. The inside can get pretty noisy - we sat on the balcony overlooking the holiday park and was quiet.
Highly recommended for a meal!
This restaurant deserves 5 stars for the following reasons;
Food; divine! I had the chicken breast and it was cooked to perfection. I also had the chocolate souffle', it was great, paired with a raspberry sorbet and chocolate sauce.
Service; It was refreshing to be served by someone who understands and personifies 'genuine kiwi hospitality'.
Drinks; I sampled the local craft beer on tap. I don't drink beer usually, but I was told to perhaps try a beer, that was really popular with the locals, I did, and it was like a cider ( minus lots of sugar). I urge others to try.
X-factor; Kiwi hospitality, great food, surrounded by native trees and birds, a memorable experience.
Thanks team Huhu, I will be back.

Pretty nice Cafe with good view, located near i-site where you need to check in if you are taking a cave tour (any tour).
The foods are great. However, please expect it takes time to get your food. We had to wait around 20mins to get our food although the cafe wasn’t too busy at the time.
It is quite busy around 1PM so you might want reserve a table if you plan to come around this time.
Great food and a great view- can’t go wrong!
