Review The Coffee Shack - Wanaka

Great coffee with smooth tastes. Highly recommend👍🏻

The Coffee Shack is perfectly located by the park and waterfront. The coffee and espresso are milder in taste - lower bitterness, lower acidity, and very low sourness. Surprisingly they offered drip coffee, which I enjoyed a cup of. Some little pastries were available too but if you need something more filling there is a crepe stall neighboring the Shack. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Sit there (outside only) or take-away - you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent place. Totally see why everyone in town recommends it. Just a beautifully done flat white with macadamia milk. Milk froth and espresso pull are *chef’s kiss*. Now my top place in Wanaka by far!

Best coffee we’ve had on our holiday in South Island, and friendly staff!

Great coffee. Dillon and Kirsten were super chill. Highly recommend their house blend for nutty profile lovers

If there were more stars I would definitely give them. I had a mocha and was indeed one of the best I’ve ever had (and I am a coffee lover). The staff was extremely lovely. My friends didn’t exaggerate when they’ve said it’s the best coffee in Wanaka and I should definitely go! I recommend it from the bottom of my heart! Definitely see you again on my next visit to Wanaka!

Great coffee, they really appreciate quality and care that goes into decent prep to make the best they can.

Excellent coffee. The cashier was really warm and friendly. She chatted with us while our coffee was being prepared and even shared some suggestions about what we could visit in NZ. Definitely will patronise again if we ever have the chance to visit Wanaka again.

The Coffee Shack is part of an interesting little food truck scene on Brownston Street in the town centre of Wanaka. It is situated just next to the Charlie Brown Crepes at the Dungarvon Street intersection. Opening hours are 6.30am to 2pm on Monday to Friday (closed on weekends). I stopped here early one morning recently and enjoyed a Long Black (NZ$3.5). The drink was well made and tasted fine - what I expected of a Long Black coffee. I liked the shack arrangement and decor. It was a nice atmosphere to stop and enjoy a coffee. Otherwise, just take-away to have while browsing shops in the Town Centre or to perhaps enjoy by the lake. In the end, this seemed like a good local business worth supporting during visits to Wanaka.

Fantastic. I am Barista, so finding a place where coffee is the priority is refreshing. A small place, the whole experience is very intimate! She stretched the milk properly and had decent extraction through the Lamarzocco. The cold brew was exceptionally delicious. I cannot wait to return!
