Review Wineglass Cafe At Edgewater - Wanaka

Michael Engemann
We went for the scones - we were told about the "scones as big as your head" and had to check them out! They weren't that big, but they were tasty! We had four different flavours and enjoyed them all. The views out to the lake are stunning. Most interesting was the ginger but they were all good. Make sure you get in early if you want the scones!

The flat white with soy milk tasted absolutely great here! I was actually surprised how delicious it was since the reviews are on the lower end at this establishment. The price was pretty okay for the size of cup, especially compared to other places in town. Since it’s a bit out of the way of the town centre I would say this is not my top pick for Wanaka, but I did thoroughly enjoy my morning that came with a great cup of coffee and an even greater view of the lake. And yes, there were some people cleaning when I arrived, but they are a hotel and cafe opens at 8am…. What can you expect? I’d rather sit through a few minutes of vacuuming and have a clean area than a dirty one. Plus the place is large and has a patio, so there’s plenty of seating out of range of vacuum noises!

Views and service is why you'd come here. Attentive and well set. Starters we had tempura mushrooms and paprika prawns. For mains Salmon with minted ricotta and seasonal veggies. 55 day aged Alliance Angus with fries. And a side of charred veggies. Paired with a Edgewater pale ale.

Stopped by here in March '23 for a glass of wine with a great view. Did not disappoint. Would recommend for a great spot to relax by the lake.

Price of coffee increased to an unexceptable level from $5.00 to $6.90. all within a couple weeks. Locals who are your bread and butter will not return.

Salmon was cooked beautifully, service was excellent.

Chris Nelson (Chef) made the best vegetarian burger today. Very delicious and I highly recommend it.

Great scones! Couldn’t try the rest of the menu as they were extremely short staffed and couldn’t serve a lot of people but hopefully next time.
