Review The Parsley Pot Cafe - Warkworth

Naomi Young
A lovely little place that suited our group needs well. Eight of us popped in here for a quick lunch before home. We all ordered cabinet food which was ready quickly and had been heated in an oven not microwave we guess, because the pastry was crispy. Tasty flavour combinations. We sat at a large table outside that fit us all easily. The short gravel path from car park to the entrance was decorated with mosaics and flowering plants. A delightful environment. I hope to go again.

Stopped into the Parsley Pot Cafe on a raining Sunday morning. The mince on toast was outrageous. The kids enjoyed their hot chocolates and shared a sausage roll. The wife had a half portion Bacon Egss Benedict. I highly recommended this place for its food and service. I will be back for the mince on toast. (It's dog friendly too)

Delicious big breakfast, one of the few places that have a smaller portion option. Not much difference though between the full and half size, both pictured

Came here today and ordered the Mince on Toast. Generous serving and so tasty. Will come back for more...

We had breakfast here two mornings back to back Highly recommended - good value, pet friendly (outdoors), amazing home baked food (incredible daily effort for this range or faire), run by a 3 generation family, who really go the extra mile. Typical of NZ reality & psyche right now - short on staff but found a way to please. Cold winter days we experienced but can only imagine this as a great summer spot outside for people & their pets Go try

Hidden little gem! 👌 Great place for your coffee or lunch. I had the eggs Benedict with bacon. 4/5 stars because the hollandaise sauce was quite thick and didn’t meet my expectations (i guess that’s personal). Nevertheless highly recommend a stop here! 😊

Adorable cafe with lovely staff. Had one of the best vegan breakfasts here ever :) Not much seating so we had to sit outside, but it's covered and they have us blankets. Wrap up warm just in case!!

People very friendly, quick service. Adorable little yard for seating, I imagine when it's in full bloom it is beautiful. I had an apple turnover and flat white, delicious

Just off of the main road, this cafe is a forest dream. Great ambiance and fantastic outdoor seating. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss their French toast on brioche bread! Highly recommend and will be back if in the area.

Stopped in for Brunch on our way to Matakana. Lovely little Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. We visited on a day where they were terribly short staffed and were advised it would be 45 minutes until our food arrived. The staff do an absolutely fantastic job and we didn't mind the wait, we were able to enjoy their beautiful outdoor seating area and browsed through their collection of local papers and magazines. We both opted for the eggs benedict, which was absolutely smothered in rich hollandise sauce. Delicious food and fantastic service.

Been going here for several years always enjoy the great coffee friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Nice despite the rumble of road traffic to sit in their garden oasis. Latest visit for breakfast this week I fancied muesli, not on menu but no problem. Whipped me up a lovely plate with delicious fresh fruit n yoghurt. We’ll be back 😀👍😊

My husband and 18 month old stopped by here this morning. Currently road tripping the north island from Brisbane. Staff were extremely friendly and food was brilliant. Fantastic variety of herbal teas. I was so happy and surprised to see they had dairy, gluten, refined sugar free banana bread. Highly recommend this cafe. Great for kids as they can run around the garden while breakfast is being made.

Had a fantastic lunch at the parsley pot while visiting Warkworth. Welcoming staff greeted us at the door and food was served quickly. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and was thoroughly impressed. Lovely location and would be more than happy to recommend this cafe to anyone passing through.

1st time here today. Well worth a visit, if I were a local I would be a regular for sure. Cabinet looked amazing. Coffee was perfect and the breakfast was delicious. The black pudding got a big tick from me! Thank you !

Well portioned
The lamb fry and bacon was especially good.
Nice ambience and outdoor seating.
Dog friendly.
The creamy mushroom wasn't as creamy as i'd like it though.
Friendly service.

Nice atmosphere but the deck and its chairs really need a good clean

What a nice breakfast! I not often give 5 stars reviews but in this case I have 2!
Such a cute setting, hidden away from everywhere , literally!
The food was superb, always a good sign when you see the chef picking fresh herbs from the garden.
Good coffee. Def will return here.

Stupendously good food cooked by people who really care for the quality of their products and their customers. A really large range of savoury and sweet menu (cabinet and cooked to order) items plus a large list of daily specials - all home made. Last visit I had the best open beef sandwich of my life with yummy pan juices and salad while today my wife raved about their chicken leek crepe. Alll of their food is terrific (that we have tried and the rest also looks great). We finished today with their fig honey cake that had sooooo much flavour (they have their own honey from 'out back'). I really wanted their goat curry today - but it was still cooking. No worries there as we will definitely be back - often I think. And don't forget to take away some of the Twisted Nut peanut butter (I love the white choclate sea salt and olive oil one) that Corby (one of the team at Parsley) makes. Finallly - it's also dog friendly. One of the best cafes anywhere in NZ and well worth the trip to the Matakana area.

This cafe is situated in a charming garden spot. The food is good as is the coffee BUT the staff is far too pet friendly. Ive seen staff pet dogs and then pick up plates of food to deliver to tables without washing their hands. Suffice to say that i wont be visiting the Parsley Pot again.

Great food and the gluten free bread was so good I had to double check it was actually gluten free. However the coffee seemed burnt so that was the only let down.

We eat here on a regular basis and always love the atmosphere and food. Great staff. It has become a breakfast regular. Coffees are good too.

What a lovely little hidden gem this place is. The food was yummy, nice atmosphere with a pretty az outdoor area. We had a really nice relaxing time there. The girl who served us was lovely too

Great little cafe in a serene location. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the place was nicely laid out, with sufficient indoor and outdoor seating. There were wind covers for the outdoor seating on the deck so you could get away with an outdoor meal in the rain/wind, but any heavy rain and you'll have to relocate to indoors (as we did).

We got a lamb burger, which was large, filling and the lamb patty seemed to be freshly made rather than pulled out of a freezer (had herbs and stuff in it). Came with a generous serving of what seemed to be baked rather than fried kumara chips with creamy aoili - the best! We also got a sausage roll heated up and a serving of kumara chips as a side, which was more than enough for the two of us.

Bathrooms were clean with soap, running water and a hand drier to satisfy your hygiene needs.

In terms of cost, it was quite reasonable. If an outlet can fill you up with a smile, awesome location and great service all for about $15 per person, then you've got yourself a winner. I suggest adding this cafe into your trip if you're in the area - not one to miss!

Positives: wonderful kiwi staff. ALL WAYS ROOM TO IMPROVE: sorry but I'm a coffee lover and I have now ordered coffee from this cafe 3 times every time I have not been pleased. I recommend the owner use ALLPRESS Coffee maybe this will help improve things and put a ALLPRESS Coffee sign in the roadside. I also recommend the Owner provide more Gluten Free options in their cabinet

Really down to earth atmosphere. Beautiful spot, perfect for children in the summer. Lovely stop off. The coffee was great and the food simple yet delicious. Love their desserts!

Had breakfast here with my other half during June, the service was very quick and friendly and the decor has much improved since the new ownership, it was a lot nicer atmosphere to be in than when we previously visited. The hot chocolates were good and there were some interesting meal options on the blackboard menu to choose from. We stuck to our usual eggs bene; crispy bacon; however my eggs were slightly under and ciabatta toast seemed very soggy from wet spinach and/or the poached eggs... which was a little off putting and not that enjoyable to eat. The hollandaise dressing needed work in my opinion, it wasn't made fresh on site I don't believe; I am glad I had it ordered on the side. Overall, it was a pleasant enough experience and we will visit again in Summer time to check out the garden seating. Such a cute and quaint stop, worth checking out.

I LOVE this place, it is the definition of idyllic. It's under new ownership and you can tell that the new owners have breathed new life into the place. The menu has something for everyone- vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, carnivore- and the service is first-rate, quick and friendly. Will return every time I venture up those ways.

This place is a work of love. Hidden away on the Sandspit Rd just seven km from Warkworth, the Parsley Pot Cafe offers wholesome food (including plenty of gluten-free options) at reasonable prices with an ambience all of its own. Almost everything here speaks of life's simple pleasures - from the morning's homemade muffins, hash browns and delicious chowder, to the warm internal decor, the big backyard vegie garden and the oyster-shelled paths (don't worry, they're blunt) that weave through the gardens surrounding the cosy domed cafe. Keep an eye out for the occasional burger nights, when the whole place hums with live music on Grandma's grand piano. As a former Lonely Planet author, I know the goods things in life - and the Parsley Pot is one of them.

What a delightful, relaxing, unpretentious country cafe with consistently great expresso, delicious food with the freshest local (and often homegrown) ingredients and two proprietors, Mel & Sheree, who are always on top form and always welcoming and great company.

A gem of a cafe.

In the middle of nowhere (relatively speaking), halfway between Warkworth and Sandspit.

A rustic, rural oasis, surrounded by dense native and exotica flora where you can relax with a coffee whilst enjoying fresh home baking and generous cooking. Let the children try the hot chocolate - if you can get them in from the lawn.

As expats we know Coffee Shops around the world and the Parsley Pot is unique - just don't tell everybody!

AH - Algies Bay

Fabulous food and very relaxing atmosphere, the girls certainly know how to create a great place for brunch. The menu is extensive and regularly updated with tasty new treats.

Lovely spot, great food, they have a friendly cat that lightens the mood, its just like popping over to mums for a cup of tea except you get a bill at the end not a big one though.
Fair price for a small comfortable cafe.
