Review Kaffee Eis - Wellington

Beautiful creamy gelato. Love the unique, ever rotating flavours. Also appreciate the option to get testers and all the vegan options.

Coffee was not bad but they could do a better job putting cinnamon on top!

This is one of our go to cafes when we ate in Cuba street. We bring our grand children here too. Great atmosphere and we like the old milk bar seatting arrangement exposing our young ones to something if our youth. They love the Gelato bar ice-creams. Sumptuous servings alway thank you this is a special place

Lovely young girl served me on the morning of the 6/6/23. While in a rush making and serving coffees, she still had the time to hold a meaningful conversation with me and give me advice. Excellent hot chocolate as well. Kept my mood up during the drizzly Wellington weather. Kudos to you.

This place is great, everything was perfect except my date never txt me back afterwards 😞 I can't blame Kaffee Eis for that, it's probably because I said something cringe about Sam Smith

This was a great stop for us to the end of a great night. It was the cherry on top! Pun intended. Great ice cream. Good service, even better was the brownie with ice cream. Love the hot and cold mixed desserts. Well done team.

Enjoyed the After 8 ice cream at our visit last Saturday night. We were there about 7:30pm, place was busy without being full. Good selection of ice creams. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Poached eggs on toast for only $7. Small iced latte for $4.50. Single gelato costs $4.80 but it’s great value for quality and taste. Great place to treat yourself some fancy desserts. Lots of seating available, friendly staffs, and also free WiFi.

Coffee is consistently great and so is the ice cream. Always a friendly vibe there.

Excellent cafe :) great staff, nice food and lovely ambiance. They’re popular for their award winning ice creams but we only had the coffee and carrot cake and both were perfect. My partner accidentally left his wallet behind and fortunately, the staff had safely kept it aside for us. Highly recommended and definitely will come back as they open later than other coffee spots!

Gelato was decent. Coffee was really good. Some confusion on my order, but the guy behind the counter took my word and made me the coffee I asked and paid for.

Cute place. Great coffee and counter food. Definitely a winner for caffeine!

Taste so good and perfect servings

Got the brownie with hazelnut ice cream and a hot chocolate to share between two people, at both items were fantastic. I haven’t tried their other flavours of gelato/ice cream but they all looked great! Hazelnut ice cream reminded me of bueno chocolates - Yummy!

Very friendly staff! Food comes really quickly and it tasted good! Amazing place.

They even have Italian authentic liquorice ice cream, highly recommend.

Best known for their gelato, Kaffee Eis is a nice cafe to hangout. It is usually crowded and there are times you will literally have to wait for a table to get free or walk out if you don't like to wait. We got carrot cake, mocha and cappuccino. Having a good cup of coffee after a long day can really help you destress. Their large is actually too big to have but gets you to relax. Their staff is really good and nice as well.

Friendly staffs and great ice cream in Summer!

Well it’s the first time for me to discover black sesame flavoured gelato in nz! Can be a weird flavour for some people but I always love sesame. The staff gave us a huge scoop (surprised as an aucklander 😅)

Tried out chocolate sorbet & raspberry while my friend had Feijoa & lime. A decent ice cream place to chill at, on Cuba st. Overall, I would recommend chocolate sorbet & feijoa!

Excellent service, excellent coffee. :) just as sweet as how i expected it to be. I would definitely recommend this place! Cant wait to go back and try their flat white, too.

This place is actually spectacular, you will read why its not higher than a four towards the end. Decided to have dessert here after a meal at our local spot (Satay Palace). Place was pretty busy but the service was attentive, helpful about the gelato and sorbet as well as being friendly and suggesting combinations and letting us have a taste of a few. Brilliant!! (Well done to the guy behind the counter last night). We settled on lemon, chocolate, tiramisu and salted caramel.... in different combinations across two adults and two kids. They were delicious and the servings are really quite large (we had singles and doubles). Overall that for me is a 4.5 to 5 territory but little one needed to use the bathroom, one of the two was out of order and the other was so yucky that we decided to wait until getting home. Seat and floor were both beyond a courtesy clean....ew. But we understand it was busy and they may have had times to go check and we just hit the wrong time.

Amazing Ice cream. The Hazelnut and Chocolate flavours were the best I had in a while. Highly recommend this place, just couldn't get enough of it during my short stay in Wellington.

The price is definitely a big plus and they have a wide range of flavours however I had to deduct quite a few points because they use the same scoop for many different flavours. I have found peanuts in a raspberry and lemon I ordered, it's just as well I'm not allergic. I have also found a hair once, but that was a one off.

honestly best staff ever here, went last night quite pissed and they gave me not one, not two, but THREE testers!!!!! on the HOUSE! thats right, and they were hefty big too. they also provided very good chat and a great banter at that. i showed them my cool lighter and it lit up their icy world. honestly so much bloody love for this place and their staff. thanks so much cafe eis for making my wellington experience, cool, icy, and super duper LIT.

Best gelato in the city I've had - I'd highly recommend the tiramisu and apple/cinnamon! Great coffee too, and really friendly staff. :) Occasionally they mix up cinnamon/chocolate on my cappuccinos, but hey, that's understandable when it's busy!

Great service, delicious gelato, great vibe. The staff were very friendly, the place was busy but the service was still super quick.

............

Not the most amazing icecream I've ever had but definitely hits the spot. I highly recommend the warm brownie with icecream! The chocolate sorbet is super rich and great for that chocolate hit (also perfect for dairy free people). I also can't fault the service I've had here, always so lovely and patient with my indecision over flavours

Overall I've never been a massive fan for Kaffee Eis shops but this one has popularity because of its location. With the option of ice cream, the milkshakes or smoothies they make here are a real treat. I visited three days ago to drop in and grab a thick shake using two varieties of ice cream both mango and passion fruit which came out beautifully. Asides from the price this place it's pretty good. I just wish there had been more staff serving because the line was pretty long at 11:30am.

They always make the BEST coffee without taking too long & also provide really lovely customer service :) I always recommend this place to family and friends who come to wellington.

One of our favorite places to go after a movie, or after a night out. Has coffee, baked goods, dessert, gelatos, sundaes, and plenty of seating. Always a solid place to relax.

I want to compliment their customer service. The front girl was very nice and smiling. Soon after I enjoyed my tea and went out, I found that I lost my earphone. I went back and looked for that, the staff their was very helpful and looked for that for me. Even though I still couldn't find it, I really appreciate their help and compassion.
I particularly like their teapot, unlike a lot of other places, it was seamless and not leaking at all when I poured my tea, it definitely helped keep my tea nice and hot.

My only question is - when are they bringing back the peanut butter ice cream? I confess my undying infatuation for this smooth, fresh creamy delicacy.

I have been to Kaffee Eis a number of times. Before my latest visit I'd always been impressed by the taste but found it a bit overpriced, especially when I ordered my gelato in a cup not a cone - you get half as much!!
But most recently I went with a friend and she suggested we get a 0.5 litre tub, something I didn't even realise you could do. You can pick up to four flavours and it's $9.50, just over the cost of two singles - and you get a LOT more gelato. We had raspberry, white chocolate, mint choc chip and stracciatella (vanilla chocolate chip). They were all delicious, especially eating the raspberry and white chocolate together!
I would definitely recommend the 0.5 litre for sharing between two or three.
Staff are always friendly, helpful and not to mention drop dead gorgeous. A Wellington icon not to be missed.

I dislike the gelato in Kaffee Eis! My friend recommended this place to me because I missed the gelato I had in Italy. It was a real disappointed experience. I ordered my favourite mango flavour and it looked and tasted like vanilla cream.

Without a second thought, the best icecream and gelato in NZ (gives Auckland stores a run for their money- honestly!)

I had the chocolate sorbet which was CREAMIER than most chocolate icecreams Iv ever had. I also threw in a scoop of hazel nut and had tirimisu

No complaints. If only I lived in Wellington-Id be here every cheat meal!

AMAZING PLACE !!, super comfortable to hangout in and the waiter is super friendly , as well as amazing as quality of food would totally recommend this place .

Nice place for tea or coffee with something sweet to eat. The place and the staff really nice. Also the ice cream are very good.
It's a place who visit all the time

I love kaffee eis, it's consistently good and the staff are always incredibly helpful! I would say that it would be one of the best service I have received; they more than happy for you to have some free taste testers before you decide, which helps because there is so many flavours to choose from! The biggest decision is sorbet or gelato!

Another bonus is that most of their gelatos are gluten free etc for the biscuit base ones such as biscotti. They are also really good with handling equipment making sure they limit cross contamination as much as possible.

Their coffee is pretty good; but if you want to really treat yourself and yet some caffeine, you can not go past a affogato or cafe frappes made with your choice of gelato!

The only downside is that this outlet doesn't have as big of a range compared to the Courtney Place one.

Sarah Reynolds #challenge
STRADS
This is a review on ice-cream only. If compared to the 5-stars Giapo (of Auckland) for its desserts, Kaffee Eis is certainly of a lower level. But its winning awards displayed at the entrance window prove that it is still a place worth-going to.

The gelato was superb and just what I felt like! I prefer the cuba street store opposed to the others as the room is a bigger, so it's not such a "get your ice cream and leave" feel to it. The staff are very friendly - but I'm a bit put off by an off smell near the gelato cabinet - not sure what it is.
Sophie Hunter
Gelato is just one of those things that are perfect at any time of the day. I am a big fan of all of the fruity flavours, especially fejoa! I love how the new Cuba street store is a lot more spacious than the others so you can confortable sit down. The staff are really friendly too.
