Review Cin Cin - Wellington

Ella Gray
Turns out that today was their first day of brunch service and my gosh did they deliver!! After walking past a few super busy cafes we were starving and desperate for a coffee and a spot to sit down and this place was perfect. Our waitress was great, and was able to accommodate to our vegan requests which was amazing. The coffee was incredible and our food was delicious, the presentation was beautiful as well and we scoffed everything down in record speed. 100% will be coming back here as our new favourite spot especially because it’s much less crowded than other places on a sunny weekend day.

Great location, nice atmosphere and superb pasta dish. Hostess was very bossy, flustered and unpleasant-telling me to be on time and clearing/resetting my table when I went to the loo before I had a chance to order dessert. Its a shame because other than her it was totally an awesome experience. Maybe front of house is not her skill set.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Wellington I go to since they were on Cuba Street. Their seafood linguine is my favourite and the pizza is top-notch; amazing doe with fresh ingredients. Took my partner and friends, and they all enjoyed their meal. Great customer service as well.
Laurence Chiu
Ordered the seafood risotto. Was supposed to come with mussels, clams and shrimp. But there was only one clam and the lone shrimp was hard to eat. It should have been de-shelled perhaps leaving the head on if they wanted to have a nice presentation. The risotto didn't have a distinctive taste, the taste being dominated by the chilli. It also was not that creamy.

I had a lovely time in Cincin this evening, the food was wonderful! I haven’t been in a while and it was just as good as I remember. The only thing that let the evening down was (presumably) the manager was shouting at his waitstaff in basically the middle of the restaurant. All of the other staff were lovely but this left a bit of a bad taste! It’s disappointing and arguably unprofessional, hope not to see a repeat of it next time we visit. Otherwise absolutely brilliant.

Thank you for such an incredible evening at your restaurant tonight, the service was amazing and the food delicious and you really went above and beyond to make my birthday special by looking after my kids and treating us all so warmly! We loved the ambience of the music and decor and will definitely be back again soon.

Service was amazing, as was the atmosphere. However the food here is simply off the charts divine. We had a group booking and all ordered different dishes, and each dish shone. We were one happy group. Highly recommended the garlic bread pizza (I mean it is next level!!) As well as the Bruschetta Italiana for starters. The dessert we had was the Chocolate Moose and Ice Cream which was delicious. Highly recommended going to Cin Cin, be it a family get together, work function, or date night.
Alicia!!!
Delicious food, great atmosphere and very polite workers. I, and my partner felt very taken care of by staff and it was possibly the best Italian restaurant I have ever been too. I will be returning with family to share this beautiful restaurant.

The pizza is impeccable. Fresh toppings and good amount of then on the delicious doe. The pasta was really well cooking, not al dente but not over cooked either, just the right way for my taste. The Seafood linguine was nice as well, the sauce was very tasty, for some might be considered a little too liquid, however I didn’t mind it and really enjoyed it as is. I wish I had a bit of bread to do “la scarpetta” with the left over sauce in my plate, I end up using the spoon and it was a good final touch to my meal.

One of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time. The staff was so friendly especially the owner. The entree of mussels and arancini balls was exquisite with the mussels tasting so fresh in the red wine sauce and the arancin having a crunchy crust with a very delicate and soft mixture inside. The main of carnivore pizza and seafood pizza came out hot delicious. To top it all off with the tiramisu and home made lemoncello was the perfect way to end the night. I would highly recommend that you give Cin Cin a try and I hope that they open up a restaurant in Auckland one day

The pasta dishes were absolutely amazing, and would have given the place a 5 star rating on their own! The pizza was very nice and nothing to over board - which I enjoyed - honest flavours without the cluttered array of ingredients that can be found at some pizzerias. The deserts were again great. The service wasn't flawless but the comfortable feel in how the wait staff openly discussed made it feel very relaxed (we had a new waitress who often confirmed details with the senior staff around). I'd certainly visit again

Amazing food and great customer service! The calzone was outstanding, as was the risotto. The starters were really nice too. Left feeling very happy and full

Absolutely incredible pasta and pizza. We had a pasta each and split a pizza and could have easily eaten more as it was so good! Wine selection was lovely as well
Jeffrey
I wish i could rate this pigsty with a minus star. If I could overcooked a bag of pasta and shit on top of it it would it be way better than the puke they served me 🤮
Chelsea
Friendly customer service. Didn’t have a booking for an evening meal, but was able to get a table for two. Had the special entree, stuffed zucchini flowers and arachini balls. Followed with wild rabbit ravioli, the pasta was amazing, such a delicious dish. And a pizza. The base of the pizza was perfect all the toppings complimented each other, with added anchovy’s! Left feeling satisfied and happy that we’d had amazing Italian food!

I only wish that the owner John was polite and friendly like our reviews should be. What an awful person, yelling and screaming using horrible language towards a customer who had a genuine issue with being served cooking wine instead of the very expensive glass of wine that was ordered. So sad that someone like this owns a business that people go to and spend good money only to be treated so badly. Shame on you John!!!

Have been here a few times before, the restaurant has a very cool 'little Italy' vibe. the servers are sometimes not super friendly which is a shame as the food is really tasty and that can take away from the experience
Vicky Yiu
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. All the food and atmosphere were so great, especially in winter, sitting next to the fireplace was warm, which was a point adding for the experience at here

Nice place. A little slow, but it was busy. Food was great. Cheap and cheerful- not pretentious. Will definitely be back. Casual dining at its best <br/>

We were welcomed to CinCin by a lady who’s name I did not get, however she seemed to be in charge. There was no hello, or welcome, only a “I thought you were a no show”, she then proceeded to walk off without another word. What a welcome. We were 10 minutes late. Come on lady. She then came back, pointed her finger at a co-worker, and said “she’ll take you to your table” and returned to fuming by the till. Things got better, food service was prompt, and delicious by the way :). We got drinks, mains, and dessert, in about 1.5 hours. We then went to pay, and happy mchappyface lady was still at the till. We asked if we were able to split the bill, as we are students, and one person having to front the $200 would be a bit unfair. Her response was “I suppose” in her classic attitude that we had come to expect at this point. 2 minutes, sour looks and about 6,000 finger taps later we were out the door, and won’t be returning anytime soon. Sad to say, because the food was really really good.

Absolutely Amazing. Best Italiano Cucina in town bar none in my humble opinion. Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Great music. Will definitely be returning (Many Times). This place is magical.

I went last night with my partner we had a fabulous evening. I will bring my family and friends. I would like to say thank you to John you were so friendly and so where your waiters .

Came here for dinner the other day and to be honest hadn't been here for ages and the last time the experience was seriously underwhelming. This time was so different, we had a largeish group of 12 and all the food came out in a good amount of time and everybody liked their meals, no complaints at all. I had the caprese calzone which was cheesy and a little spicy and absolutely divine. The addition of the chilli oil on the table was great I love abit of heat! I also had the potato fries that were also amazing and real potatoes not something out of a freezer bag. The gaps between tables was a little small and the waiters had to keep squeezing past me but I think that was purely just the table we ended up at. Would definitely recommend for anyone that likes pizza and pasta!

Despite it coming up as a first result for “byo restaurant Wellington” it isn’t. Was told this in a very blazé fashion. Also we were ushered past all of the nice tables in the main restaurant into a weird side area that was very loud. Decided to leave before we ate which is a shame.

Food is fabulous, despite the menu saying there could be a wait it came out very quickly. Service is excellent. Only downfall is it's extremely hot no air conditioning which makes it really uncomfortable. Would of been a higher score if that was sorted.

Dinner at 6pm on a week day. It was busy. I've never been here before and the thing that struck me most was the size of the place once you're inside. That, and you feel transported away from Cuba street. Nice decor and pizza over create a nice ambiance.<br/><br/>We ordered a Peroni and a bellini. Food; the tomato pasta with a side salad and the veggie pizza. <br/><br/>Given how bust they were the food arrived in 10 minutes, which was great. Each dish was simple, fresh and flavoursome. The pasta was rich in flavour, the salad crisp with a delicious drizzle of oil and the pizza, light, crisp and loaded with toppings. The chili oil had a good kick to it too. Dishes were s good size too. We were stuffed.<br/><br/>We took away a tiramisu to eat at home. Delicious and expertly made, good balance of flavours. Only thing was (for the price) a very small portion, but it wasn't a massive deal.<br/><br/>The staff are super attentive, but more so, very polite and helpful. <br/><br/>All up $91.00.<br/><br/>We're planning our next visit already!
Harvey
We enjoyed our first time at CC.  Owner and staff were very friendly and helpful.  The Calamari was very tasty and the snapper was perfectly cooked and the tiramisu was nice.  Looking forward to going back and try the other dishes.
Megha Dogra
Aside from having to practically scream at the person next to me to be heard, had an absolutely fab dinner. Calamari best I've ever had, pork and fennel conchiglioni divine. Balsamic figs a little too sweet but I was full anyway. Wait staff were fantastic. Very hot and very loud. Was a relief to leave in the end.
Cookingkenny
Orders two pizzas. These were nice, prices were a little high given the whole concept of minimalist pizza toppings. Pleased to find a gluten free base even if it was one purchased from a commercial supplier. <br/>Nice big place with clean toilets. Staff were friendly but didn't know enough about the Vespa at the back.

First time at CinCin and it was extremely pleasant. The atmosphere was lovely and I really enjoyed the live music. Our server was polite and helpful. The starter, main and desert tasted beautiful. Will return

This is my favourite restaurant. Brilliant choices in the pasta, the pizzas are fantastic and the steak, pork and fish.... there's nothing I don't like. John the owner is friendly. Warm atmosphere, Manda loves the wine....<br/><br/><br/>
Christian
Good food but price was a bit higher than average Italian places in town. A good selection of dishes. I liked my choice of pork fennel pasta. The pizza was good too. However the service could be improved. We was still waiting for someone to take our order 25 mins after arriving at this place.

I went there with my wife and daughter on a Saturday night and it was very busy. We didn't have a booking but we got fitted in by the staff. We got seated at our table after a short wait of 30 minutes. The food was devine. My wife and I had the fish and it tasted fantastic. My daughter had a vegetarian pizza and she said it was great. We also had garlic bread to warm up and what can I say but it was great. My wife and daughter had a hot chocolate to finish and I had a coffee. My wife said the hot chocolate was (you guessed it) great. The service was great. We will be back - this is one of the best restaurants I have been to.

I visited CinCin for the first time last night. The food, service and atmosphere were lovely. I had the PROSCIUTTO salad, which I often do when eating out, and was not disappointed. I followed it with the Torta and gelato. Both great. I look forward to going back.
Thanh Hà
Very nice salad! However waitresses were rushing and not very professional. A girl threw the dish onto the table and ran away. I know it's fast pace but at least kindly put the dish gently please... Great decoration and chill atmosphere
Royden Shierlaw
We enjoyed a fantastic meal, there was no discernible difference between eating here and eating they same meal in Italy. We will definitely be back.
Monique
Food has always been good. The service is great and you aren't kept waiting long. Food gets to the table really quick which is awesome. The decor is really feeds into the authenticity of the place. Easy to converse with your friends as isn't too loud.

Def recommend to anyone, this photo doesn't even do it justice!! So delicious, dairy free options for most dishes and wow so filling!! Service is awesome as well, very impressed!!

We Went there on our recent visit in wellington, we ordered meat ball as entree, seafood risotto and my partner ordered rabbit ravioli, overall the food tasted good, the ravioli tasted great BUT portion was ridicuosly small, it's not a meal for an adult, i believe I wasnt the first one here who complained about it, it only has 5 pieces for $30! And when my partner told the owner about it, he was so rude, he didn't take the input a consideration to improve, instead he was arguing with my partner, telling him that no other customers ever complained about the portion, so disappointing!
Spanner
Recommended by the hotel we were at. $100 paid. I had the rabbit ravioli which was very good although $25 for 5 pieces of pasta was in my opinion a bit steep. The wife had the seafood linguini which consisted of a large plate of linguini 6 mussels 1 prawn and some bits of calamari. Nice sauce but again for $25 I expected a bit more. Staff were good and they have a nice selection of Italian wines. At the end the manager provided a glass of limoncello which was a nIce touch. Overall it was pretty good although if your hungry I would recommend getting an entree or going somewhere else. Also try and book and get a table out the back because it gets quite cool with people coming and going through the front door

Lovely place, beautiful food and the best service in town - a super special place for any occasion and highly recommend to all that want real Italian food & service.
Vivienne Parker
Our restaurant of choice for any family celebration, Food delicious and the staff ? couldn't get better. I had the special of the evening Paua Raviloi , Ravioli was delicious but the sauce  !! Mmmmm oh how I would love that recipe. We must have covered the menu with our numbers and everyone loved what they received Hence the top mark given.  Every time we have been on a birthday the staff make such a lovely fuss of the birthday person.  Highly recommend

Everything about our experience here was amazing. It was our anniversary dinner and we couldn't have picked a better place. Can't fault the service. The food was truly delicious and my husband wants to go back to try everything else on the menu. And the cost of the meal was very reasonable!

Cin Cin is a true Italian Restaurant in Wellington, NZ. We dined on the Tuesday after New Years and the place was packed. Worth noting there was no holiday surcharge! <br/><br/>We started with a bottle of Chianti and ordered "Garlic Bread" made with Pizza bread, Garlic infused olive oil, oregano, touch of sea salt - baked in wood fired oven and "Bruschetta Italiana" toasted bread rubbed with garlic topped with rocket, ricotta and fresh tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and balsamic for appetizers. The appetizers were good but the bread on the Bruschetta was non eventful. <br/><br/>We followed with entrees of "Conchiglioni Spinaci" prepared with Pasta shells filled with spinach, Zany Zeus ricotta, mozzarella and hint of nutmeg cooked in chef's special napolitan sauce, " Wow really enjoyed this dish. Then a serving of Wild Rabbit Ravioli" made with Home-made Ravioli filled w/ slow braised wild rabbit served with a light napolitan sauce. Highly recommend the the Rabbit Ravs! Then "Lasagna" layers of organic beef Bolognese, mozzarella, parmesan and béchamel served with salad. The lasagna was needed a little more zing for me. Our last entree was "Risotto Wild Mushroom" Saffron infused risotto cooked with Portobello & wild mushrooms and a hint of gorgonzola. Very good as well.<br/><br/>Our meals were very good and the service was excellent. Highly recommend Cin Cin.

Me and my sister were craving Italian food and have decided to have dinner at this place. The staff were very accommodating and friendly as soon as we entered the place. The food was delicious. The only thing I didn't like was that they put their pizza on plate which made it a bit soggy in the middle. I'd definitely come back!

Thanks to John and the team for another great experience at Cin Cin. Our 5 year old specifically chose to go to Cin Cin to celebrate her fifth birthday. Great food and smiles all round. Could not ask for more. <br/>We had the wild rabbit ravioli, seafood risotto, spaghetti and meatballs and pizzas for the kids. Polpette and calamari for entrees. All were delicious!

Thank you so much for fitting us in after WOW 2016 .... Such a great show had to be finished with some great food so we came here as they have Vegan options as my Partner is Vegan. We had a Woodfired Pizza. 😍 So tasty and the music set the perfect ambience. Customer Service was friendly and professional. We came here last year and met the owner. Such a nice guy and even gave us the heads up on good bars. Thanks Team<br/><br/>UPDATE: Came here again for WOW 2017 and the team didnt dissapoint. AMAZING Service and Food. We had alot of Scumptious Vegan option. The Verdo Pizza piping hot from the oven with yummy tasty cheese,a thin base and so much lovely fillings. The Fresca Salad which I had to eat while eating the pizza as I couldnt pick which one to eat at once so I just ate both at the same time 😂. The Mushroom Risotto was perfect as it complimented the salad 😍😍😍. See you again next year. 3 years coming here everytime we come to WOW.

I guess when you have a large group with an appetite for great food it's only fitting that you make a special evening out of it. Last night one of my close friends had her birthday dinner at Cin Cin which included 15 guests and a surprise birthday cake which was delivered earlier in the day. I was shocked by the wonderful service and organized support on behalf of the staff and was happy with their enthusiasm on such a busy Tuesdays night. <br/>For drink's I thought it fitting to go for some red because the southerly had just kicked in so I wasn't feeling hugely warm by that stage. The Montepulciano d' Abruzzo rested well before our starting bread's came to the table. The main collection consisted of Snapper fish of the day with asparagus, potato and a dab of ginger which swam in a beautiful garlic and olive based sauce. Finished off with a few slices of bread and a side of chunky fries, the whole meal was easily one of the most delicious dishes in Wellington. I would, however, contest the wait time perhaps being slightly too long without notice but as I say this was made up for by the awesome food. So lovely restaurant for a dressed up lunch, but particularly for special group occasions. <br/>Thank you
Vanessa Bradford
Fabulous restaurant! Had dinner (4 adults, 2 kids) at CinCin last night - pizzas were delicious, carbonara was delicious, seafood linguine was delicious, wine choices were perfect (the Nero d'avela was lovely), prices very reasonable and the service was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, and the pizza maker even came to say hello and check we were all happy with our meals. Would highly recommend this place, and would definitely go back if we were staying a little longer in Wellington. (Would have written this review even without the free glasses of Limoncello after dinner!)

Fabulous. Flavour, Fun, Friendship, Family, and Value. I don't know if CinCin is considered to be one of those in places to "be seen", but it's a fabulous place to BE, any night of the week. <br/>We have become regulars during the last six - eight months, sharing this treasure on Cuba Street as often as possible. <br/>John and the team always offer a genuine, friendly welcome and do their utmost to ensure customers enjoy a great night. Calamari, wild rabbit ravioli, and Affogato top the menu favourites, although I've yet to try something that wasn't packed full of flavour. <br/>Flat bread & thin crust pizza are all produced fresh in the pizza oven. Also available to take-away. Some of the best thin crust pizza I've tried outside Italy. <br/>
Stacy Heyman
The food here was delicious! They catered to gluten-free and vegetarian, everything came out quickly and the staff were lovely. They even let our group bring out our own birthday cake! I had carbonara vegetarian style with mushrooms instead - so damn good! Three cheese white pizza was good but powerful glad we shared our meal. Will return!
Ross
What an excellent restaurant with super friendly and efficient service. I had the pepperoni pizza and the delicious chocolate torta for desert. Mmmmm.. I wish I was back there now. Also loved the Italian waitress there who was always smiling, friendly and polite. The best food that I experienced during my short stay in Wellington.
Couple Of Cheap Westies
Overall good mood and friendly service. The food came out timely however unfortunately the pasta was not al dente. The calamari and garlic bread was good though. I'd probably come back but not intentionally.
Steph Michie
Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Popped in here on a whim and glad we did! Love the option to have a platter for 1 and my partner had pasta which was fab. Really good service, not over the top but still very attentive. Great wine. Definitely will be returning!
Daisy McDermottroe
Absolute 10/10 food and 10/10 service. Would recommend to any Italian fan, the carbonara is just to die for! Such a warm and charming environment and by far the best Italian I've had in years.
Katie Harris
Great experience at CinCin tonight. Great atmosphere and a welcome warmth after the cold wind of Wellington! My husband and I shared the calamari entree, which was beautiful and lightly fried. I then had the spinach pasta, which were shells filled with spinach and ricotta, surrounded in a red sauce. Really nice and not too rich. Hubby had carbonara which had delicious honey bacon in it. Would definitely go again if we were in Wellington!
Viv Baartman
Shocking service, food terrible, some of our party waited 2 hours for their meals. They were rude when we left; I wouldn't eat there again even if it were free.
Team Thomas
Went today for a bit of a party so got to sample a couple of pizzas, have a good look around and spend a good couple of hours here. Decor is awesome so would definitely take the mrs here for a bit of food near the fire. The outdoor space is nice for a bit of sun like today. Pizza were very nice even the gluten free was fantastic. Chips were chunky. Drinks were good, we asked for a whole bottle because there were a couple of half empties in the fridge and didnt want anything flat for the softdrinks. Eftpos didnt work so lucky we had cash. All good, would return and recommend to others
Mia Henry-John
Such a cute place!!! Had been wanting to go for a while and wasn't disappointed. The menu all looked so good and was difficult to choose what we wanted to eat. I ordered the spinach pasta (had no idea how to pronounce) which was tasty! The pizza looked delicious and the decor was warm and inviting. Will definitely be back! Only suggestion would be to keep refilling the water; we were only given one bottle and quickly finished it as it was so warm!
Dylan Benjamin Lupo
Mixed feelings about this place , food was outstanding but the service was terrible and portion size is not worth the price $10 for a bowl of fries and we only got about 5 thick cut chips and a ramekin of sauce . Decor is nice and warm
Anna
Lovely evening here! Had the antipasti, mushroom risotto and Denard pizza (which was out of this world). The staff were so lovely and helpful, and the chef came out with a bottle of homemade limoncello to share with all the guests which was such a nice touch. Loved the service and the food here! Definitely will be going back
Grace B
My favourite Italian restaurant! Favourite dishes are the Italia Bruschetta entrée, Seafood linguine , Cabonara & their traditional Italian pizzas are soooo good! Great atmosphere, appropriate music, excellent service and a delicious range of Italian wines to choose from . Pretty much just an amazing place to go for the whole food experience. 10/10

We went to Cin Cin last week for dinner, the atmosphere was amazing. we had perfect calzone, it was full of flavours, and the seafood risotto which was absolutely out of this world!! Staff was very friendly, highly recommended👍
Ava
Went here last Saturday for dinner with two friends. Even though it was really busy and we showed up without a reservation we were seated on a nice table around a fireplace. The atmosphere was just amazing. The lovely waitress told us that there is no pizza tonight because they are short of staff which was disappointing at first because especially my friends were looking forward to try out their calzone. Anyhow - I asked for vegan options and the staff was really helpful and offered me some vegan pasta options and the vegan mushroom risotto which was just the best risotto I've had in a long long time. My friends had the Seafood Linguine and the Wild Rabbit Ravioli - they are still raving about it... and good portions for a reasonable price. When we were about to pay the waitress even offered us some of their homemade limoncello. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for such a beautiful evening.

A pretty lackluster night. Embarrassingly, this was my choice for date night - my logic being "how can anyone screw up Italian??" That question has been answered. The good points first: the decor is gorgeous! Love it. The wait staff were lovely, and the end-of-meal limoncello was a delight - definitely on-par with what I've had in Italy. Also the food came out ridiculously fast. The bad points: although it looked good, the food was utterly, unbelievably bland. I can only put this down to cheap ingredients being used, as I still struggle with how food, with that much sauce and cheese (theoretically), could lack flavor. I strongly recommend you dont buy the arancini - not only was it just plain boring to eat, at $10 for 4, and each being the size of a walnut (whereas in Italy, they are more the size of medium sized potato -google them and you'll see what I mean), it was ridiculous that this was listed as a sharing plate. Value for money it was not. If they had been delicious, I would be less unimpressed, but I feel I (over)paid for rubbish. For mains I had the pepperoni pizza which was just fine (again, not hard to mess up placing a flavorful sausage and cheese on a base). My poor partner ordered the lasagne though, and as we swapped half our meals with each other, when I tried his, I understood why he wolfed down my pizza once he got it. Soggy doesn't cover how the lasagne was - wet and flavorless- it was not a pleasant experience on the tongue. Having spent a substantial amount of time in Italy eating far too much of their excellent fare, in conclusion, go to Nicholinis, Pizza Pomodoro, Pizza Napoli or ANYWHERE else if you want good Italian in Wellington.

A disappointing evening at Cin Cin on a Friday night. My boyfriend and I love Italian food, so make a point to try all the Italian places in town. I called and made a booking for 8 for the 2 of us- which was fine. On arrival, the servers seemed stressed and flustered. We made eye contact with 2 of them at the desk, but neither greeted us. One asked me if I had a booking while she was taking a payment- not a huge deal, but was not overly welcoming. We were seated by the lovely open fire heater out the back section, which was cosey and warm. On being seated we were told that they were only serving from the front of the menu this evening (no pizzas), without an explanation. Our waitress was friendly, however they were all running back and forward from the kitchen across the wooden floor (and I mean running) which affected the atmosphere somewhat. We both had the antipasto starter which was fabulous- meats, cheese, bread, pickled vegetables. The waitress even made a note to include olives after I asked if they came on the platter. But the mains were a disaster- I ordered the Seafood Risotto, which came out as more of a rice soup. Under-cooked rice floating in a brown, under-seasoned broth. However the mussels were cooked well, apart from the occasional beard. My boyfriend had the Seafood Linguine, which was under-seasoned and watery as well. The napoli sauce was more the consistency of canned tomatoes. To Cin Cin's credit, the manager(?) apologised for the state of my risotto and took it off the bill. He also gave us 2 free Limoncello as we paid. Although the staff were apologetic and accommodating, the state of the food will not bring us back. All in all, an underwhelming experience.

Had the most delicious vegan pizza there WITH vegan cheese! Best I've ever had in my life!! Great service and the staff is so friendly as well!!
Coolio
Pretentious place with no shine.<br/><br/>In my experience:<br/><br/>Positive:<br/>-Location.<br/>-Quality of the ingredients.<br/>-Wood oven.<br/>-Good backyard in hot days.<br/><br/>Negative:<br/>-Small portions.<br/>-Expensive if you think about what you are eating and where.<br/>-Music to kill yourself the most of the times (even if you like Italian music, not all of it is good).<br/>-The feeling is cold and unfamiliar.<br/>-Too big and open venue for a restaurant.<br/>-It tries to be a high class place with nothing special to offer.<br/>-Absolutely average Italian food, nothing specially original in the menu.<br/>-Always empty, so you don't feel like you want to go in.<br/><br/>It could be a nice place because its great location and backyard, but finally it is just another Italian place with nothing new to offer. I won't come back.

Food is amazing and very well-priced for authentic Italian. We have been several times and had the carbonara, seafood marinara, garlic bread and pizzas - everything about these meals is well thought out and seasoned perfectly. Pizzas and garlic bread made by a very friendly chef in the dining area and woodfired with noticeably fresh hand-made ingredients. <br/>Service is excellent as well, can't fault this place.
Gareth Ruck
I'm only just getting around to reviewing this place - I go there ALL THE TIME!<br/>Sure, the food is great - the best pizzas/calzones in Wellington and amazing pasta - but the service is phenomenal. Always friendly - always looking for ways to make us feel special. Oh and if you're dairy free like me, they carry vegan cheese. <br/>The vegan margeurita and vegan calzone are just brilliant.

Easily the best customer service in Wellington! Great food, great value. End up here at least once a week and its always amazing. Highly recommend

B. E. A. utiful! Got seated almost before we walked in the door. Drinks fairly quickly after we had sat. Italian wine = delicious. The young lady who looked after our table was lovely and friendly with great service. But the best part without a doubt was the food. It was beyond amazing. We had the pork and fennel pasta and a few meat calzone and they were just fantastic. A lovely night out at a great place with top notch food. Good work guys! I will defiantly return.
Vanessa Violet Von Wacker
Great Service. Unfortunately service doesn't quite cut it as be all and end all when you have as much choice as you do in Wellington. I got a voucher from Grabone, as I thought it would be great opportunity to pop out for a small bite after work and check out a new Wellington venue. The plater we had was really disappointing.. small, tasteless, unoriginal, expensive. great deal on the voucher, but as I said to the waiter when we left, we will not be coming back because quite frankly was the taster was unappealing and if anything killed our appetite. Sorry.
Linda Fisher
Looking for a quick bite before movie, went in for antipasto for 2 - stayed for pizza and risotto. Awesome service, these guys made us feel so welcome ..... even came out with a dessert with a candle (and sang!!!) because they had noticed that there was a birthday card on our table. Great food, great atmosphere .... going to rave about it to my friends.
Ashleigh Hutchinson
Had the best service from the waiters that I have ever recieved in my experience of dining. The service was quick, the waiters were always around for a chat and a drinks top up. The meal portions are huge! And theres always the possibility to take away. Went there for a birthday and they treated us like royalty! Was a great night thanks to the service and have been back many times, I give raving reviews to everyone I know and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to dine. Simply fantastic!

Fantastic place. Food was absolutely delicious, owner and maitre d' wer wonderful, friendly and very helpful. We had a great eveing here and will be back. Highly recommend to others. We had a yummy antipasto platter to start, then shared a delicious risotto with mushrooms, gorgonzola and parmesan. Followe by dessert of beautiful tiramisu, then complimentary limoncello. A lovely evening. Thanks.

what a treat, a new addition to Cuba street, walked by and they had a staff member outside welcoming people which is nice looked at the menu while we were looking the waiter explaining about the daily specials so we went in and the place is massive bigger inside than it seems, they were half full but later on got really busy no place to stand which is a good sign, the food was wonderful had the seafood risotto with squid ink and caviar was so tasty and fresh was amazing and my partner had a pizza VVV vedura a vegetarian pizza the best pizza we ever had. service was very attentive and great atmosphere recommended to everyone

The visit started off with a reasonably sarcastic and almost rude greeting from the waiter. We ordered drinks that did not arrive for a long time. After finally managing to call someone over we reminded them about the drinks which had been forgotten (fair enough but an apology would have been nice or an acknowledgment of the mistake). I ordered the carbonara and the sauce was delicious. Unfortunately the deliciousness of the sauce was taken away by the chewy undercooked pasta. My partner had a pizza which was okay but not very hot on arrival. Overall it was an okay experience but was brought down by mistakes by the service and food. Nothing about Veni Vidi Vici went above and beyond to create a pleasant atmosphere.

Disappointed in this place. waiter was pleasant with the drinks, then it went downhill. on booking I had adviced that one person was gluten free and therefore any bread would need to be half half, this was agreed. When seated I reminded the waitress re the half half and then was told this was not possible. Chef came and argued he would not give us half gluten. drinks were nice, no lemon with with carona beer, wine lovely. Antipasta plate large was supposed to be shared, it was so disppointing, hardly an entreesize for one person let alonedinner for two. when finshed, left and went to another resturant for a dinner. this place needs to improve .

Well hrmm what to say your service was terrible.. over an hour an half for cold garlic bread (which duid not taste like garlic AT ALL). then to be told by the waitress to pretty much hurry up so she could bring our mains as we were holding her up.. then my main came out and my clam was not clam was just an empty shell when I advised our waitress of this she refused to believe me I moved my pasta around my plate to show her it was not there. she want out the back and came back even ruder advising this was impossible that it was not in there I kept telling her it wasn't only who her to raise her voice at me insisting it was IMPOSSIBLE it was not there. I ended up just telling her to go away as I knew was no point I finished my main but I never found this clam ever! this is terrible. even though my main tasted amazing getting yelled out by the waitress and her rudeness has left the worst impression and this could have easily been fixed. however thanks to this I would never recommend a place with this sort of service no matter how nice the food.

We had a glamour Friday night here. A random choice, as it didn't look pretentious. Were made welcome at the bar while waiting for a table to come free. Then simple tasty authentic Italian food and just the right wine to match. Enjoyed the live background music then just a little more vino. Thanks guys for such a memorable night, you were a great hosts. Left feeling like family. See you next time we are in Wellington !

Wouldn't go back. Service was super average. Waiter was new, which was fine, everyone has to be new at some point. Manager, don't put the new guy on his first night on a Friday. Antipasti platter was also super average. A dip with it would have been nice. Had to ask for knives and forks. Didn't really like the live music. A but loud. Had a deal voucher and we made a booking and specified we had a voucher; only to be told they don't do the vouchers after 7pm, which was not in the conditions of the voucher.<br/>A very average experience.

Went there last Saturday with a group of 14.<br/><br/>Ordered the schiacciata and the vege calzone. Bread was great and there was heaps of it. Calzone was fantastic and, again, a good sized meal.<br/><br/>Service was great - Mitch was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Food took about 35-45 minutes which was reasonable for a group our size. Beer and wine were good and matched the food well (which we asked for).<br/><br/>Hard to fault really. Will be back again.

My friend &amp; I decide to pop into VVV (9/5/14) as I used to dine there when it was called Istanbul, I also wanted to see what the place looked like, the place has changed a little, I ordered vegetarian pasta, it was covered with a lot of sauce, my friend wanted grill meat but was told you only get the meat with nothing else unless you order side dishes like salad..boring! So he ordered pasta with mince &amp; ordered salad as side dish. I counldn't eat my meal, it was so boring &amp; covered with sauce where is the pasta, my friend judged his menu as ok..nothing spectacular...<br/><br/>Entertainment was a lovely lady singing opera &amp; contemporary songs nice touch

Don't order the Bolognese... its sh_t!! Dined there with 8 of us girls last night. My friend ordered the small Bolognese dish $17 and it came out like a starter meal. I ordered the large Bolognese $23 and the difference was I had an extra string of pasta. The girls thought the food was poor and quite pricey for the poor portion. Our waitress was very inexperienced, her accent was very difficult to understand. She didn't pay any attention to us all night, very disappointed. Also there was no hand wash in the bathroom. At the end of the night the girls rated the place ok only because the wine was nice. Sorry but we won't be back.

Went here for a late dinner with a group after work. As we arrived around 10pm only pizza was available as they had had a very busy night, which we were happy to have considering the fact that most places had closed.<br/><br/>We each ordered a small pizza, which was more than enough to satiate our appetite, and they were very tasty too. But the best part of our experience here was the outstanding service. The waitress was very personable and responded well to our questions and humour. The front of house staff were very friendly, informative, and keen to hear our feedback. I'd come back here for the service alone. All of us were impressed and will be returning to try out the rest of the menu!

I've dined at Veni Vidi Vici a number of times now either with a large party of friends or dinner for two or just calling in for a class of wine on the way home. Each time l have been greeted with a genuine smile, l have tasted the best food and wine and l have had the pleasure of experiencing warmth and unpretentious hospitality. I love Veni Vidi Vici and lm sure you will too.

Visited Wellington for a few nightsa couple of weeks ago and staying t a hotel on Cuba Street, we wondered up down the street to find a new eatery each night. On our last night we found Veni Vidi Vici. We were drawn in by the inviting interior and the sidewalk sign promising fresh pasta, fresh seafood and wodifred pizza. And we were delivered nothing less than delicious food. We ordered birschetta to start, the seafood linguine and bolognese for mains. The Bologese was so yummy - so different what we are used to, not drenched in a tomato sauce, but a drier suace, - which I am told is actually the traditional way of making this sauce. It was yummy! And the seafood linguine was simply divine. The seafood so fresh and a lovely mixutre of mussels, clams, prawns etc. And not one of these ready made, precooked seafood mixes, you could tell it was all cooked fresh to order. We were full to the brm but after having seen some desserts go past we couldn't resist. Normally I wouldn't order anything other than a Tiramisu, but being pregnant I had to forgo that and order the pannacotta. Not that that was a bad thing - it was delicious as well - light and not too sweet, offset with a berry coulis. <br/>The service should also be mentioned. The staff was very attentive and were great with making recommendations and making us feel as if we were the only guests.<br/>The only regret I have is that we discovered this gem on our last night in Wellington. We will be back for sure on our next visit!!!

Went to VVV last week for the first time and can only recommend it. We were there on a Friday night and they had live music playing, hich was excellent and created a lovely atmosphere, without being loud or intrusive. The place got really busy but, still, the wait staff managed to pay great attention to us. The food was delicious, we had a seafood dish and a Risotto. We will soon be back to try other dishes on the menu, as all the food I saw coming past our table looked yummy!

Went here with a large group of people. We ordered before 7, didn't get our mains until after 10pm. Many people left before their food came. Food definitely wasn't worth the wait! Very disappointing experience all up

Terrible experience. <br/><br/>It was a friend's birthday, the food took a whole hour to finally get served, I ordered "Fish of the day" which sounded nice.<br/><br/>It had bones in it and tasted plasticy. I was nice enough to pay for it even though I have told them how bad the meal was.<br/><br/>The staff wasn't that friendly to me for expressing my opinion about the meal, and I found out that 3 more people have had the same complaint about the fish and they haven't paid for it. <br/><br/>Never again.
