Review The Bresolin - Wellington

Jun Kim
Really enjoyed the vibe, food and service. Foods were all delicious with nice twists that made the flavours not boring. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare which happens quite rare these days! All staffs were attentive and super friendly and professional. Prob going back tmr to try different dishes!

Was impressed that we were taken upstairs where there was a cosy feeling. The wood grilled sirloin was excellent, but the Goddess greens (with garlic shoots) were divine! Excellent service with attentive and kind front of house staff. Loved it!

Amazing Sunday Roast! Definitely head here over the weekend and try thier $20 roast special, make sure to get there early as it's a first in, first serve basis and we have missed out before! Absolutely delicious roast beef rump and the Yorkshire pudding is so good! They also do have an extensive menu so make sure to check out the other options. There is a nice outdoor area as well. Staff were great and very friendly.

Came back for WOAP 2018. The whole menu worked well together, but the highlight was definitely the dessert, a deconstructed cheesecake with good balance in flavour and textures.

Great food. Great service. First time try crumpet which is amazing gourmet food I ever tried. Love it a lot than burgers.

I give 5/5 for the grill !!!, roasted potatoes and some vegetables. You can also order for a good bottle (or glass) of wine. We ordered a good Sauvignon Black (Seresain), Marlborough NZ, 2015 and we didn't regret! :) Voilà! ps: good atmosphere and good service!!!

Absolutely beautiful. Really nice indoor and outdoor dining areas. Staff are top notch, beer is good and they have a quality menu. Highly recommended.

Loved the food. The dessert was amazing. I generally order chocolate based desserts but this time I changed my mind because this peanut based dessert served here was so amazing.

Second time that I've been here Food is very good and the staff is very good and gentle.

You can tell when an eatery cares about food. This is one such spot. Come for the small plates and order them all, or come for the beast feast once a month - either way you'll be booking a return trip soon enough.

The staff here are so friendly, really welcoming and it was a pleasure to come here. We ended up just coming here for desserts and coffee, I ended up getting the Sundae which was HUGE and only $10!!... Absolutely incredible value and I definitely recommend it. I couldn't help looking around at the burgers people had and being incredibly jealous... They looked amazing. We will be coming back in future!

Fantastic food with interesting flavour combinations, friendly welcoming service, and reasonable prices. The burgers were excellent, and the caramelised cauliflower dish was amazing. Good range of menu options and drinks, craft beer on tap including guest taps, wide wine selection and their own sodas. Great use of the old building with modern touches, felt like a nice place to be. Definitely recommend The Bresolin.

We have been going to various restaurants to try them out every Thursday. Was just saying how we hadn't found anything that stood out. Well bingo tonight changed that. Great staff and service couldn't fault it. Had the pork knuckle between 2 of us. Best pork I have ever had. Love how to can walk past chefs and congratulate them. We will be back. Awsome guys. Only disappointing factor was too full up to have dessert so will be back.

Lovely little bar and outdoor eatery. Beautiful interior design to being a classic style into the modern era. Decent selection of beers but a great selection of spirits. Lovely $20 roasts on a Sunday night. What's not to love!

Fast and friendly service from our main waiter (a lovely guy from England). We went there with our kids (aged 11, 13 and 16) for Monday $10 Burger night in July to celebrate our eldest sons birthday. It was busy inside, so we sat in the 'outdoor' area which is covered (clear perspex walls and removable shade) and has lots heating. It was really cosy, the burgers were yummy, and our waiters were lovely.

This place provided me with a very tasty filling vegetarian meal, and the whisky list was acceptable.
Gareth Rooke
Excellent place. We had a large party and accommodations were made a late stage without fuss. Tasty food, great coffee. We like brunch and dinner there. The roast is always so popular we have never had it, get there early for that.

Great out door eating area, covered or not! We were a group of 5 and shared 7 light meals at lunch which was perfect. Absolutely delicious and so many choices! Staff were attentive but not in your face. Fully recommend...we have been here numerous times and never had bad experience😊.

The food was mediocre and the waitrees were impolite. We won't come again.

Great coffee, friendly staff, but the food was poor value for money. Ordered the crumpets with bacon and mascarpone. The crumpets were homemade and were huge. The amount of bacon was ridiculously small. The dish comes with two pieces of bacon - they were the smallest pieces of bacon I have had at a cafe. The mascarpone and syrup that accompanied it were in tiny shot-glass sized containers - which was inadequate given the two huge crumpets. Gave feedback when asked and was told that we could buy extra bacon. I don’t expect huge amounts (especially given the price) but it was a bit of a joke.

I enjoyed my first experience and can say the second was the same. The food here is outstanding. Our steak was perfection. All the salads / veges that we ordered were packed with flavour and had the right balance. We also got the smoked fish, fried chicken, calamari - all delicious, but I need to go back to the steak - OUTSTANDING!

The service was also great. Big well done to the staff. They understand the menu and were able to explain the principle of the sharing plates and were very friendly towards us. I'll definitely make this a place I go back to!

We would like to say that we were disappointed with the food however we didn’t even get to sample the menu as they bumped our BOOKING back 3/4 hour for another group which was unacceptable due to a later appointment. Poor poor customer service.

Decided to give this spot a try tonight for my wife's birthday with daughters in tow. We were attracted by the sound of the menu and the fact they had a kids menu and said they had colouring sheets to keep them entertained. It was scorching hot but the service was still good, we didn't have to wait for a seat either. Kids didn't get colouring sheets offered or in sight, meals were quick, about the size pitched so really need to get three to four dishes for a decent meal. I wasn't fussed on the flavours, the chimmichurri was tasty and the pork in the mussels was good. You shouldn't have to debeard your own mussels at a restaurant though! The beef brisket was tender to the bite but kinda dry to be honest. Kids got a free ice cream though so that kept them happy, my youngest was dead keen on the spaghetti when we read the menu to them during the day, but when we came to order it was the one thing that they didn't have, Murphys law. Anyway, nice spot, good service, wouldn't return in a hurry. Does however cater very well for allergies.

We ordered green lip mussels, caramelised cauliflower, calamari, beef brisket, 2 kids popcorn chicken, cherry cola x 3 and a margarita.

Went here for the second time this morning. On both visits the food was good, but it was the customer service that particularly stood out. On both occasions staff were very friendly, proactive, helpful and attentive.
I couldn't find what I was looking for on the menu today (apparently its only on the dinner menu) so the staff volunteered to arrange for it anyway. Its the little extra miles that make good customer service stand out. I will definitely be returning.

Have been wanting to visit this restaurant for ages and whilst in Wellington for WOW It was a good time to visit. We were seated upstairs and had a window seat which was lovely. Enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered and found the service to be very good.

We did not find it expensive, would definitely return and would also recommend it as a lovely restaurant to visit. As we passed the open kitchen to go upstairs the chefs etc all called out and said Good evening which is a very friendly touch.

Great place to eat. I have been here a few times and the food is always good. Great service and good coffee. Picture is of the buttermilk fried chicken burger which is really good and the chips are cooked well (not over cooked).
Bo Jack
This place is brilliant. My favourite is the steak tartare and the fried chicken, honestly both of these are pretty hard to beat.

The staff are excellent and the beer is good. I have wanted to try more of the things on the menu but I always end up getting the same thing.
Cam Newman
Bit of a local spot for us now, always has good beer on tap and food is always top notch, they tend to mix the menu up quite frequently as well unlike some well know places in Wellington. Really good service as well without being too over bearing.
Amit Tripuraneni
Stopped by on short visit and can only say this review is my experience. Fried chicken was good but for the price I'd say it's over rated. The coating needs a little more oomph and needs to be crispier. Great seating but slightly disappointed with the experience.

Went here for my birthday dinner with 7 other people and it was the best decision I've ever made in my entire life. Aint even kidding.

Food is beyond good, we had 2 feast items + 3 sides to share. We had 1 kg of Ribeye which is cooked medium rare-medium, and brisket. Both are too delicious to share to be honest. Sides, we had fries, roast potato, and cauliflowers. This is actually my favorite restaurant visit in Wellington. Too bad I can only give them 5.0!

Service. Their service is top notch, even, beyond top-notch. They are so attentive without being too nosy, also really helpful, because it was our first visit and one of the people explained how their menu works in such a detail manner. They also really friendly and fast.

Overall, I'd give them like a 100 for everything. And I'd like to thank their team to make my birthday one of the best so far! :)

First off, the place is just really lovely. I think the fried chicken is the star of the meal. It was exactly how I like it - crispy, still moist on the inside, and with a side of coleslaw. I also really liked the pork belly and octopus dish. Portions are small as it's more of a tapas/sharing meal. The waitstaff were absolutely lovely and explained everything we needed to know. Overall, really lovely meal and would recommend.

Delicious food and a nice relaxing atmosphere.

I had the buttermilk chicken burger which I cannot fault! It was delicious and well priced, and came with fries.
My friend had the octopus and while he said it was good it was extremely small. Other than the burgers I get the feeling this place is meant to be a shared menu.

I really enjoyed the vibe of the place, it was classy while still feeling relaxed. Would 100% go back

The food was very flavour some, the portion of the dishes were a little small...however I quality over quantity. Most of the time I am not able to finish a burger, fries and a drink at most pubs. Those looking for an economic meal should look elsewhere.

The flavours a mix of sweet, sour and saltiness, but not in the same way as sweet and sour pork. The flavours are refreshing and crisp, well what we ordered anyway.

They have a selection of craft beers.

Tonight was super busy in town because of the education open days for both universities and a big influx in people visiting the city. Hence why the likes of Matterhorn, Logan Brown and Charlie Nobles were all fully booked between 5pm-9pm.
I found this place which is just down Willis Street which I had always passed on my daily run up Polhill. The staff were very accommodating on entry although busy they sat us down at the bar while we waited for vacant seats. About ten minutes later we were seated with the friendliest staff who sat us beneath an outdoor heating column. I found the setting a bit outdoorsy but again having the heater above us made it more comforting.
For food, I ordered the $35 festival dish + Panne cotta + a glass of regional wine. Excellent value!! The festival dish boasted braised beef ribs atop a broth of spring onions, kale and not so spring onions. I also ordered a side of caramelised cauliflower and spinach which had goats cheese and pine nuts for only $9! Accompanying my main I had a glass of Alexander Pinot Noir which was better than nothing (haha).
Amidst this shenanigans I finished off the night with a Panne cotta which had a Tamarillo and white whittakers chocolate sprinkled over top like nuts to ice cream. Overall a really relaxed time out and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Food here is quality. Great service and warm atmosphere. The whipped potato is worth trying but for me the standout is the fried chicken and chilli sauce! Delicious

Wellington does it again! What a great concept!! You feel like you have walked into a celebratory feast with room
filled with the hum of people talking and drinking over slabs of shared protein for the table and a selection of sides. Fantastic quality produce, great vegetarian or single dish options also - excellent service!!
Royden Shierlaw
I went with a group of people, we all thought the food was fantastic. The staff were very helpful, always there when we needed them without being over the top. We'll definitely go back soon.

Another trip down to Wellington and have dinner with my girlfriend before my flight back to Auckland. Simple restaurant, but the food and service are top notch.. We order the salad green bean, the lamb rack and mussels.. The food come out really fast and really good. We will come back if we coming back to Wellington!👍👍

We had brunch here and really liked the menu which featured a lot of fresh interesting combinations. The fried farro was especially tasty. There were however a LOT of flies in the courtyard area which was off putting - strange for this time of year so not sure what was going in there.
Kat
Just awesome! Amazing, tasty, delish & affordable food.

The calamari, mushrooms & cauliflower were the best I've ever had. We had 9 dishes and enjoyed everything - great for sharing.

Professional, friendly & accommodating staff. Even brought something not on the menu for our 1 year old.

Definitely one of the best, if not the best, in Wellington.

Finally tried this place out after eyeing it up for several months. I really liked the courtyard area of this place and think it would be a great spot on a warm summers evening. As it was quite a cold night, we decided to eat upstairs in the restaurant. I really liked the decor upstairs: very clean and fresh with modern accents. The service here is very good, the wait staff are pros at what they do and I really commend them on that. The food didn’t blow me away but it was very good. I had the cheese burger with fries. This was like a gourmet version of a double cheese burger from Burger King. That may sound like an insult but it’s definitely not. You’ll just have to try it yourself to understand what I mean. My only problem with the burger was the bun, it wasn’t very fresh. The fries were very good. My friend had the buttermilk chicken with a side of mash. The mash was absolutely delicious. The buttermilk chicken was average. If you want the best fried chicken ever then head to Mexico on Dixon Street. Overall, I think this place is a winner... a bronze medal winner. Improvements could be made, but I’d definitely go back.

We were craving for a good steak and found this place on Zomato. The menu looked very intriguing so we came to find out.

He atmosphere was good, I loved the interior design and the upstairs sitting area. The food here is plated for sharing, we ordered the wood grilled octopus, raw kingfish and stir fried mushrooms and beans for starters also to accompany as sides for our steak.

My be had 500g eye fillet and I had 300g.

The starters were great, the kingfish was delicious in its purée along side with the radish (I love radish). The wood grilled octopus was a little dry and the potatoes were too. Stir fried veges were extremely salty that night!! We mentioned that to the waitress at the end of the night and she said she'll look into it. However, the star of the night, was the steak. It was very well cooked (I ordered to have it blue), every bite was tender, the piece of meat was well selected and together with the cafe de Paris butter, it melted in my mouth.

Do come here and have a beer to chill after work downstairs or have a great steak!!!!

Wandered into The Bresolin one lunch time with my son and we were blown away by the quality of the food we ate. The caramelised cauliflower is a must-try. Brought 2 friends a few days later and they too enjoyed the experience. We had roast lamb shoulder which was very tender and served with a mint pesto sauce. The place was packed! I will be going back to this place often I think.

Recommended
It was wet, mid morning, and a caffeine withdrawal headache was slowly creeping through my right cerebral hemisphere ... And Bresolin wasn't my first thought - I guess I always imagined it was a restaurant and bar rather than cafe. But driving past I could see a few folk with coffee cups at tables - a good park appeared and Bresolin was on.

You enter into a bar with high tables - to the left there's an outside heated area and upstairs there's a dining room. There were no good tables in the bar available and the outside area was less than inviting courtesy of the met office, so we ended up in the otherwise deserted dining room.

A window seat and a very classy fit out ensured that our original intentions of coffee transformed into breakfast - why waste the ambience and view ....?

As might be predicted from the Bresolin name, the olive-green walls and red splash of colour, from a single large painting, modern furniture and good lighting were very stylish - Italian tasteful.

We ordered trim caps and went through the menu - reasonably good. I chose the "Bresolin" which some places call the "big breakfast" and more historically the "full English breakfast." - here with a slight twist - toast, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans (house made), black pudding and two perfectly cooked fried eggs. Bacon was excellent, beans lovely and interesting, black pudding - a slightly homogenous mouthfeel that was ok - some texture would be nice. Eggs as noted excellent.

My partner had the rice pudding with maple sugar, rhubarb and poached pears. A deliciously gentle symbiosis creating a perfect breakfast dish for those who desire sweetness at breakfast - excellent.

The coffee was well made and with a reasonable depth of flavour.

Overall, Bresolin exceeded my expectations.

On its website Bresolin says that " We only take bookings for tables of 6 or more, otherwise just come on in and we'll look after you! " that's a pity because if you don't have five friends you can't be guaranteed a table. Certainly for a date night Bresolin in the dining room would be perfect - but if you can't book you'd be disappointed and I'd hate to think anyone who had their hearts set on the classy upstairs room had the bar or outside area coaxed on to them.

Because it was a weekday morning and the dining room was otherwise empty I haven't any idea how full the dining room gets in the evening - I suspect it does - perhaps go early to guarantee a seat - or late.

So date night: hopefully you get lucky with a table.
Kids : not really
Birthdays and special dinners: yes for a group.
Big groups: yes - there's a separate room upstairs for that.
Foodies: give it a go - at least once.
Elderly parents: recommend the upstairs dining room if you can get in.
The bar - I have no idea sorry.

The headache left me as we left the Bresolin.

Went in nice and early on Saturday night to try their Burger Wellington entry. Seated in the outdoor dining area, nice and cosy under one of their heaters. Service was quick and friendly, our burgers arrived smartly and were DELICIOUS. Tried the Snickers pudding for dessert which was a treat.

As we left, the restaurant was filling very quickly. Unfortunately the EFTPOS in the outdoor area wasn't working so we were asked to pay in the bar which took quite a while as the bar staff were swamped. A small blip on what was otherwise a very nice meal.

I've walked past The Bresolin for the past 6 months every day... Always meaning to go in and try them out. So today mum and I went inside. Amazing service! Really lovely servers and the coffee was great. I had the bacon roll and mum tried the rice pudding. Both were really good, although the bacon roll would probably have been better warm, but tasty nontheless. Will definitely be there again soon, with husband and kids in tow!

Visited The Bresolin with friends for Wellington On A Plate.

Overall not super impressed, took 3 hours from ordering until we had our deserts.

The entree Ōtaki pumpkin gnocchi with artichoke chips, kale and savoury granola was moderately delicious but was not amazing. Rated 6/10

The main Wairarapa beef cheeks braised in Gentlemen's Beans coffee and red wine was pretty disappointing, mine was really dry like an old rump steak ( maybe I had the edge piece but that should not be served if not up to spec ) others in the group seemed to have nice tender beef but mine was lacking. Rated 2/10

The dessert was Chocolate pudding with Fix and Fogg peanut butter ganache and ice cream and was fairly delicious to be honest, saved the review from being probably a 2.5. Rated 8/10

Previous visits have been good, the whole leg of lamb and salsa verde are pretty amazing.

Che

Came here for dinner and entrees were nice however it took thirty minutes to initially serve us. Mains were served with no cutlery or serving tongs, we had to continuously ask for water and our meals took over an hour and a half to be served. Wine was also spilt. Overall the food was okay however the service needs to be dramatically improved to align with other good restaurants in Wellington.

Came for dinner and drinks tonight. Service was friendly and quick. Food was awesome. Had plenty of plates to share. Fried chicken is a go to, gnocchi is killer and the ribs and calamari dishes went down well too. Burgers on offer were awesome. Well cooked and premium quality meat with a bun that was just perfect. To top it off the price tag is not too dear. All round great evening.

I came to the Bresolin as part of a large group. Being the first to arrive I was offered a drink inside before more people showed up and we moved to a table outside. Outside, they were in the process of lighting the fire adding a much needed warmth to an otherwise cold day.
When it came time to taking orders, the waitress was able to answer questions as well as tried her hardest to make sure that all our food needs were meet. In fact she even tried to answer the question of the difference between muesli and granola.
When the food arrived, after a much shortly then then I would have thought, iy was hard not to get food envy fro,m the looks of others plates. While my own scrambled eggs on toast wasn't much to look at, the rice pudding that others had, as well as the smashed avocado looked and sounded delicious. I know what I want next time I go.
FoodiePhysician
Came here for lunch as a party of 6.

We had the tofu eggplant salad, crushed avocado with sango sprout and kale, breso burgers, fish and chips and the buttermilk chicken.

I had a taste of all 5 dishes; the best dish was surprisingly the avocado with sprout and kale and the chicken second.

The crushed avocado was served with sango sprout, kale, eggs and toast. It was fresh, tasty and unique in flavor - well balanced between bitter and savoury. The buttermilk chicken wasnt far off either; I thought the sauce was amazing; couldnt quite get what it was but regardless, it was addictive and I wanted to put it on everything on my plate. And the mashed potatoes that come with it sure was something else; I think I could just have a plate of this alone.

The other dishes were fine. Presentation was simple and neat. Portion sizes were satisfactory.

Nice location, quiet and away from the busy central CBD. Creative layout with a trendy upmarket vibe. Friendly attentive staff.

Decent price; $130 for 6 mains, 3 beers, 2 lattes and a fizzy drink.

Would like to come back again and try the dinner menu next time.

3.5 Yums

First things first: we LOVED the architectual attention to detail of the outside area - albeit a bit chilly, I reckon the heaters need some cranking up. 😉 We dropped in for a lazy Sunday brunch and left happy, their bacon & egg buttie is delish & the coffee was good. Would love to try the dinner menu.

The Bresolin is near my job. I stumbled into the place one evening between work and other engagements, and I was very glad that I had. I dined in the ground-level courtyard, which was spacious and light, with a nice, cozy fireplace. The wine list was simple but well thought-out, and the menu had a nice variety of options, including quite a few vegetarian choices. The food is simple and elegant, with carefully balanced flavours and ingredients. I chose the gnocchi with mushrooms, gorgonzola and spinach. The gnocchi practically melted in my mouth, the mushrooms were perfectly roasted, and the spinach was perfectly wilted. The gorgonzola sauce could have used a bit more tang--maybe a hint of garlic, or some black pepper? I have since had the dish several times, and the sauce has never been the same twice. I think it's better when the chef chooses to add a bit more pong, a bit less cream, but maybe that's just me.

Service was excellent--everyone I encountered was very helpful, friendly and efficient. I think their location, as it's not exactly central, is challenging, but I have noticed that they are trying to lure in more daytime customers by offering samples on Willis St. during the morning commuting hours. I have walked past there on my way to work and seen the staff sampling out cups of Gentleman's Beans and bits of breakfast pastries…

Nice spot away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD.
Had some share plates with friends. Whipped potatoes were so good I did not want to share. Food was different, colourful and tasty. It was refreshing to see something so different to their last restaurant.

The increasing number of affordable eateries never cease to amaze me and it goes to show that you can always amazing food outside of fine dining restaurants. Searching for a cheap and affordable meal in Wellington took us to Bresolin. I intially intened to come for brunch but instend we came early Saturday night for a quick meal.

We had the hand cut steak tartare with a egg yolk emulsion and a tangy mango salad on top, a gorgeous buttermilk fried chicken with a side of firey chilli sauce, a juicy cheeseburger with a side of twice cooked fries and a side of iceberg with a light blue cheese sauce topped with almonds.

Taste wise, the steak tartare was underwhelming. It needed more gherkins to add a sharp tang and could do with a dash of Tobasco. The fried chicken is nearly as good as the ones at Swert Mother Kitchen and the burger was just what we needed to fit the spot.

TLDR; loved it, can't wait to go back!

Went to The Bresolin last night for the first time with my partner and it was awesome.

We had two cocktails, fries, steak, buttermilk chicken, carmellised cauliflower salad, zucchini, peanut butter parfait and the soft serve. It came to $125ish which I think is a reasonable price for the quality of the food and service we got.

The outdoor seating area was spacious yet cosy with the fire and heaters. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. And the food was ridiculously delicious. My favourite was the chocolate soft serve with cherry sauce and toasted nuts. My partner was crazy about the cauliflower.

Needless to say we're excited about trying everything on the menu and are already planning our next visit! Highly recommended!

Visited The Bresolin earlier today with a group of 13 brunch enthusiasts. Extremely happy with the service and food that we received considering there was a fair few larger groups visiting at the same time (another group about the same size in the courtyard and a group of 35 upstairs).

We were seated in the outdoor area, which at first was a little concerning due to the cold weather, but was put to ease as it was completely covered. The fire was quickly put on, which warmed up the area in no time.

Although there was a delay in getting everyone menus and water at first, the staff were incredibly polite and attentive. Water was constantly being refilled, and so the same for those who had the bottomless coffee (also, it was incredibly delish)!

I was a little disappointed with the menu - I'm one of those weirdos who likes to check out the menu ahead of time - and found that there was discrepancies between the actual menu and the one they had online. Once I had gotten over that - I chose the eggs (fried) on toast with a side of black pudding. For eggs on toast, I was severely impressed. The bread was absolutely delicious - it was a mountain of goodness! The eggs were cooked perfectly and maintained a bit of funniness. Yum! The black pudding was flavoursome and moorish. Everyone else seemed happy with the food they received - I was even a little jealous of those who ordered the granola! The food also came out super quick!

Overall, I know I definitely will be coming back. There is too many things on the menu that I want to try. Will definitely recommend to anyone who is after a good eat.

I want to like this place so much because the food is really good and you can't beat a place that has "soft serve of the day" for dessert.
But every time I've been here I had issues: no drinks menu offered, delays, forgetful waiters, wrong orders, bad timing (aka drinks delivered at the end of the meal), uncooked burgers (please don't lecture me on your quality meat. Burgers should be chargrilled or ask me how I want it).
I'll keep giving it a chance because the food is top notch.
Heather Scott
What a place to have a birthday dinner. It was amazing. The service was great, wine and food also were amazing. I had the buttermilk fried chicken and chips and my friend had the cheese burger. Great sizes and it meant we could try the snickers desert. That was such a good ending to a great night. Can't wait to go back and try a few more things 10/10.

Visited to see what the fuss was about. Location wise, it is a bit out of the way from the main 'drags' in Wellington's Courtenay Place/Cuba Street. Bresolin can get quite busy especially their courtyard, but there is a dining room upstairs and you can also dine in the bar area out at front.

Offers a selection of small plates and larger more expensive mains.

We ordered a couple of small dishes to share as we were not very hungry, but wanted to try a few.

Please visit my site for a more indepth review of what we ordered and what I thought of this place.

Celebrated New Year's dinner- was VERY impressed with the staff and the food. Everything from the kitchen was just great - the conversation just stopped when the food arrived. We had a bit of everything from the small plates menu to share. Loved every dish, had to order more of the triple fried chips. Yum. DON'T share desserts. Just DON'T. Order your own!!! OMG. We ordered the Snickers pudding with Salted Caramel ice cream and the Goat's Cheese Sorbet with berries and meringue - you simply cannot share. Even with the holiday surcharge the bill was still reasonable for 2 adults, our 12-yr old girl and 7-yr old boy.

Best steak of my life. Great service, I mean fantasic. A+ The only reason this is not 5 star, is the smoking in general area. But that's just me.

We went today for the first time and had brunch. Liked sitting in the courtyard. The juice of the day was so delicious I finished my first quickly and ordered another - a mix of fruit and vege juice with the perfect amount of ginger (not over-powering). My meal with crushed avo was yum. I could package that avo with the sprouts and toasted barley and have it on something for lunch everyday, although I was surprised it came on white toast (which I usually try to avoid). My five year old was happy with eggs and soldier toast which was a good price. Husband enjoyed his Bresolin breakfast - and he is always happy when he can get black pudding - and I enjoyed trying some of the home made baked beans from his plate.

Great space. A bit student like a student bar.
Expensive wine list they couldn't afford tho. Went for lunch then drinks the following evening. Sat outside in the sun which was nice. Got a menu after 1/2 an hour and still no lunch after an 1 hr and a 1/4 . One guest had to leave. I had calamari. Nice but very small portion as were my friends who mainly had salads. Not good value and food average really. The following evening, great vibe and we had calamari again and fries, which were cold. Overall not great, service average at best, there are far better places in Wgtn . May do well cos of outside bar but I think This is a miss.

Was quite stoked to check this place out, I walked past once and it was jammed pack - there's excitement about this place and I had to see it for myself.

Went for brunch, was warmly served by lovely staff and the set up of the place is fantastic. The brunch/lunch menu wasn't too big so it was good. I grabbed the eggs on toast, pan fried eggs with a rich buttered piece of toast, did its job. Then had the buttermilk fried chicken, was a tiny portion for the price, but it went down a treat, matched nicely with hot sauce and slaw. The coffee wasn't bad but not the best brew in town.

My verdict: you should go to satisfy your curiosity. The food isn't that highly innovative in my opinion, and portions are a bit small for the price, but the quality execution of food and service makes me wanna go back - this place holds plenty of promise!
