Review Thai Chef's Restaurant Wellington - Wellington

Jarod Margrain
Ordered the Mussaman Curry and asked for Hot, but it was pretty mild. It was really good though, with big pieces of meat. Heaps of flavour and super tasty. Prices are also pretty reasonable. The service was really friendly, though English was fairly limited. The restaurant was clean and tidy and nice decorations. A little dusty though.

Great time with a large group. There were a lot of us (double digits) but the space didn't seem too over crowded. The food did come out quite far apart from first served to last, some of the latter wondering if their order had been completely forgotten as everyone had mostly finished before theirs came out. But it was all well enjoyed, and good proportions. We didnt feel rushed to leave and were left to enjoy the food and friends. Some of the dishes being the shape of your main was a cute choice too.

We went here to celebrate my cousins birthday in a groups of 11. Went back here after being away for 3 years and food still taste the same, delicious and cooked well! Raw chilly on the side added the extra zing I was after as me and my wife eat a lot spicer then our family. Just be aware that chilly on the side is extra $$ and same goes for take away containers. I think this might be the same almost everywhere though.

This is a solid dining experience. I've been a couple times for BYO and the place is rowdy and the food is good. It does feel cramped during the rush. Recently went for lunch and it was a lot quiter. They have lunch deals but exclude a few dishes from this.

Very nice overall. Good staff, food and atmosphere. Not my normal place to eat because it's a bit pricey for me, but I think most dining experiences on this level will be within this kind of price range. Plus I was out with friends so it was a good time overall!

Great Thai restaurant, good for take aways, or dine in, delivery easy came to pick up several times while we were there too. Attentive staff, the spicy grade on the menu is not accurate according to the waiting staff, but they'll explain to you anyways just ask away. We had prawn cakes, tiger prawn tomyum as entree and herbal crispy whole fish with homemade sauce, thai chef fried rice as main. Prawn cakes were incredible and out of our expectation, the whole fish was great just as expected. A bit shame, tiger prawn was over cooked in the tomyum soup and fried rice was not dried enough, otherwise would have been 5 stars. Medium to high price, huge portion. High chair available and staff super friendly with kids is definitely a plus, inside the restaurant was slightly warm in hot summer nights.

Been coming here many times. Great atmosphere friendly staff and foods are amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My trip to Wellington had me thinking I would not find a good meal in the city. In desperation we tried this restaurant. At last a great meal, friendly staff. Ahhhh thank goodness.

Very nice foos, a bit on the expensive side but with very generous portions. The Sleepy Pig entree and Sweet Piglet are amazing, as well as the mussamun curry đź‘Ś Service was polite and very nice; they forgot one of our starters but git it sorted very fast. I would recommend it !!

Excellent service! We got a voucher for this. When we got into the restaurant, there was a sudden power cut. Dishes were limited, we only relied on tea light candles. We decided to go to another restaurant instead. Booked this place for another day (this time our voucher expired) they still honoured our voucher due to the power cut cancellation. Staff are very efficient and easy to talk to, food serving is huge and tasty. Will definitely come back

This is my #1 go to Deliver Easy choice. I have had many of the meals and often order for friends who are staying wiht me. We have never had a bad experience. Thai Chefs food is delicious and the portions are quite good so I often eat half and keep half for the next day. I like spice and tend to choose medium because the flavours are superb and I don't want to mask them.

Great place to have your function! Took my 15 of my work mates here and we all had a blast, the food is delicious and the staff were friendly. The manager is pretty grumpy but his staff made up for it.

Best Thai restaurant in town. Lots of very yummy options. Staff is lovely. Recently we celebrated a birthday dinner there and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, fast service couldn't fault the placec
Nik
Very tasty and decently priced, came on a super busy day but we had ordered ahead of time so only had to wait 5-10 minutes for our takeaway order, great experience and friendly staff.
Gregory
Had a lunch last weekend. It was so delicious and staff were so friendly

Yuummmm. Super fresh. Massuman curry is drool worthy. Meals always arrive quickly. If you love Thai you'll love this place!
Sealman
Absolutely loved! Reasonable price for what you receive which is pure deliciousness! There are a LOT of choices in Wellington for Asian style food but this is simply a 'won't disappoint' destination! Kids enjoyed also!

Went here with my partner. They forgot my order and served 7 others that ordered after me before they realised. Told us a terrible lie to try cover up the mistake and that they'd make a new dish "really fast" for me. I ended up choosing a noodle dish that I didn't think the chef should struggle with. When the food came it was very sloppy, very salty and obviously contained MSG. Worst Vietnamese food I've had. Worst dining experience we've both had. Don't eat here.

Have been to this restaurant a few times in the last year. Generally the food has been pretty good except for a few things. The service is not the best. Often waiting longer than expected for drinks etc. Often asked how long you'll be or given a time to be out. Got takeaways last time and to be honest you could feel the salt or the MSG or whatever. May have had an off night.

Enjoyed a night out with friends! Food was tasty although, a little over priced in contrast to other Asian restaurants in Wellington. The service was average- often had to call the waiters over to us so we could order/to clear the table.

It was disappointing. Sometimes I wonder where the reviews come from. The entre I could buy from across the road at New World. Def from a box and deep fried .The Pad Thai was bland and one colour. The duck stir fry just not exciting at all , I could knock it up at home. My dish the crispy green curry pork was nice I enjoyed it. Part of the dinning experiance is enjoying the ambiance but in this case we were asked on arrival how long it would take for us to eat our meals. Then I had to go to the bar for a second glass of wine ,the service wasn’t good. Not a recommendation at all. Disappointing considering we selected the Resturant on the reviews REALLY????

Originally from Napier this place carries the same excellent quality of Thai cuisine across all its stores. My favourite is of course the Naughty Pig in a green curry. This is crispy pork at its finest. I normally get it with coconut rice and a roti, but seriously the food I have tried is fantastic. Fairly priced even for a CBD location!!!

Being Asian, Asian food never fails to amaze me. What a lovely dine out option, and lovely staff working in and out at peak hour during weekends, we got the table easily without prior booking, that was too good, awesome food, still feels the taste and awesome location with good people around! Fantastic friday evening and fantastic Food options. Kuddos Team Thai Chef 🍾

The food here really blew me away. I went in directly for the mains. Started with pad Thai noodles which was chef recommended, Royal panang curry, the spicy beef stir fry & red veggie curry. Rice had to be ordered separate. The noodles were tossed with red curry sauce which added the nice good flavour of its own. The noodles were not flat which was a change because the original pad Thai always has that. We ordered all dishes medium hot which really worked because the flavours jus came out to perfection. The Royal panang curry was rich & creamy that I almost licked it clean. The highlight though was the beef stir fry which is a must if you visit this place. The ambience was great, the service was equally quick. All the servers were really helpful & attentive even though the restaurant was packed. Tip- book before going. Kudos to team Thai chef!

It was so good!!!! The food here is just mouth watering. We will most definitely be back!! This place deserves every 5 star rating possible!

Had dinner at Thai Chef with a big (17 people) group. First, the whole restaurant was packed, everyone was crammed in like sardines. <br/>The food was overrated. Ordered a Thai green curry, and found the curry to rice ratio way off. We had to order more rice to finish off our meals. Found it was very expensive considering what you received. I would like to note though that our waitress was lovely! <br/>The big downfall however was when we all went to pay. For my partner and myself, our order was messed up four times.. including almost being charged for a $40 bottle of wine and a corkage fee, the table did not order any wine. The whole table experienced these sorts of mistakes, making it a huge headache and a bad way to end the night. <br/>Overpriced, underwhelmed, and was just a big hassle. Will not be returning.
Lici.french13
Terrible experience. Ordered take out and was given a wait time of 20mins. It ended up taking 40. To top it off, when we got it home I found a pubic hair in my pad thai. I will NEVER eat here again, absolutely disgusting.
Graciejae.miles
Have been going here for years and my favourite dish in the whole wide world is "Naughty Pig" which is crispy pork. I will be devastated if this ever disappears from the menu. Also, attentive and fast service.
Felicity
The food was good, I would describe this asour average Thai place. It was packed with a table 14 sat behind us. Staff were attentive and welcoming regardless. We got our food promptly and it was tasty! Downside was that nothing blew my mind.

This place is my favourite thai restaurant in Wellington. I've been here many times and it never disapppoint me. Today I've decided to take my cousin here dinner and I am glad that he really enjoyed his experience there. We ordered a massaman curry and crispy pork spicy girl. Both dishes were very tasty and they are very generous with their meat. Also the restaurant is very reasonable with its food price. This is the first place I recommend when people ask for a good thai restaurant.

Why cook when there is delivery. <br/><br/>I have been to Thai Chef a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is consistent and flavourful (I love fish sauce and they use a lot of it). <br/><br/>So I cames home and was craving thai. I didn’t feel like cooking or leaving my house. With all the new delivery services in Welly I didn't have to. <br/><br/>I ordered a thai feast of prawn cakes, pad thai, pork belly, roti, and tom yum soup. <br/><br/>The order took 40 minutes to arrive, that is pretty good in my books. <br/><br/>The food was slightly disappointing. The prawn cakes were soaked in oil, the pork belly was hard and chewy (the vegetables were soft and soggy), the tom yum was salty and the prawns overcooked. The saving grace was the pad thai. The noodles packed a nice punch. Not too spicy but with just enough heat. <br/><br/>I was expecting more from one of the best thai restaurants in Wellington. Maybe thai delivery was a bad idea. <br/><br/>I will give Thai Chef another chance but in person.

Nice meal great chicken fried rice warm and cozy kid friendly and a great atmosphere we went there in the weekend and there were a lot of people there a also vegetarian dishes and also quick friendly service
FrequentDiner
A great venue for a BYO. The menu is large and there is an extensive choice so will even usually suit picky eaters. The food is consistently good and flavoursome. They also do some dishes really spicy which is great for my spice loving partner. The sexy little duck dish is excellent.

I am extremely disappointed in the service and food of The Thai Chef Restaurant in Wellington. I was really looking forward to eating there and went with high hopes. The man who eventually seated me seemingly couldn't be bothered and was not at all helpful. <br/>I ordered Chicken Satay as an entree as it is my favourite; I was slightly disappointed in the peanut sauce but the chicken was tender and cooked well.<br/>For a main I ordered Spice Girl because it's heat rating was medium/hot and I liked the mix of stated ingredients.<br/>At the end of the meal I felt completely ripped off... There was absolutely NO HEAT in it at all. When paying I told the person taking my money that there was no heat in my main. He said they started me on mild and I should build up the heat each time. I told him I had ordered that particular main because of the heat rating and I was very disappointed. He didn't seem to care, telling me "Next time". I told him there will not be a next time - I am in Wellington for a conference and return home on Friday. He did not answer and I left. If I do return to Wellington I will not be eating at this establishment not ever...

Hi<br/><br/>Thank you for all the lovely reviews we treat this very important as it reflects ourselves.<br/><br/>We are sadly to advise that we will be closed between October 5 to November 20 to undergo a massive Earthquake Strenghtening project. Once it's done our customer can enjoy a safer environment while dinning with us.<br/>At the same time we take this opportunity to update our decorations within th restaurant to give our customers more enjoyment.<br/><br/>Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.<br/><br/>The management <br/>Thai Chef's restaurant

Really nice Thai food. A little more expensive than other places in Welly for Thai food with BYO wine but I think it's worth it - the dishes are all distinctly different whereas other places all the noodle dishes come out tasting quite similar. <br/><br/>Usually I get a green curry or the duck curry but I decided to try the C U later noodles with beef and got them hot - really delicious. <br/><br/>

Very disappointed. I have ordered take away from Thai Chef twice. Both times I have ordered the mussamun curry. The first curry was amazing, full of flavour. The second curry was terrible, absolutely no flavour, bland, boring and hardly any meat or veggies. My boyfriend ordered the Tom Kha Gai. He described it as watery, flavourless and overpriced. The thing that annoys me the most is the inconsistency. Our second visit will be our last. What a shame. If only the food was as good as our first experience.

Enjoyed a colleague's birthday dinner here last week. Very tasty and good service. I've dined at the sister restaurant in Hawkes Bay and was pleased to see the same menu. The ingredients were fresh and dishes prepared slightly differently than other Thai places. Love the sexy little duck. The staff were friendly and the WINE LIST is VERY GOOD for an Asian establishment. Well done! I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

This is one of my regular takeaway spots, with the gluten free options clearly stated on their menu (dine in menu not their takeaway menu). I prefer to takeaway here as they always seem to be crazy busy and also takeaway is quite a bit on the cheaper side! The service isn't perfect but the staff are very friendly and the food is flavoursome. <br/><br/>The menu is a novel but some of my personal favourites are;<br/>green curry – it's creamy and delicious<br/>the cashew nut – packed filled with veges as well loads of crunchy cashew nuts and;<br/>pad ped thai chef – a meal that has a good punch of heat.<br/><br/>I also love that you can choose your meat for each dish, and that most dishes come with a good helping of veges as well! <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Went here for the first time tonight for dinner with a friend. I ordered the Tom Kha mixed seafood soup with some coconut rice and my friend ordered the "sexy little duck" meal. I asked for mine as entree size but at same time as main however it wasn't until half way through eating it I realised that it was probably too big to be entree sized and they must thought I ordered main. Was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for a cheapish meal however was charged main price making it quite expensive.

The three of us arrived without booking, the restaurant was busy but we were able tone seated straight away! <br/><br/>Staffs are helpful and friendly. Dishes came out quickly and looking great! We ordered the seafood Tom Yum, masaman beef and Tamarin fish. All very yummy!

A Thai restaurant that brings Thai food alive. We had the Penang curry and the naughty pig which was crispy pork stirred fried in a green curry sauce. <br/><br/>Busting with flavours it was a party in my mouth. The pork was crispy as read on the menu. The green curry was well balanced and slightly less intense than an ordinary green curry which made the pork shine. <br/>

Went with a group of 9 on Friday night. There was a  45 minute wait for mains to come out. Mains do not come with rice or any extras so everything had to be paid for .
Rachel Moore
5 of us dined, we all went straight for mains.  Service was pleasant, although they forgot to take drinks orders and it took ages to get staff attention to make the orders.  Food was delicious and servings were a good size for the price, although their medium hot is hotter than we were used to.  It was great that the rice came on heated plates, which kept it warm for longer.  The only real gripe we had was with the menus and the juvenile, sniggery names of some of the dishes and descriptions "she's a sexy girl" etc.  Not to mention offering slippery nipples etc on the drinks list - really not classy, and very tragically 1980s.  We were also shocked that a dish is called "Suicide Bomber".  Seriously?  Will be happy to dine again, but maybe not until the menu grows up.
JD
The food was great, but the service was a bit irregular.  It would be nice to be offered a chance to order drinks before ordering food.  Two of our six entrees were forgotten and we had to ask for them again.  There seemed to be longish delays between ordering and getting food, and also after having our mains cleared, and waiting a while we had to flag down a waiter to ask to see the dessert menu.  Every table was full so they were very busy.  <br/>Also, the ladies toilet was quite untidy - the replacement paper roll hadn't been loaded into the dispenser, and there were bits of paper and paper towels on the floor.  <br/>All of the food was delicious however and the staff were nice.

Very nice food great service although understanding English from some staff would help. But all good. Good value for money and nice ambience <br/>

Have been here a few times and really like it! The staff are lovely, always helpful. The food is really good and waiting times are not too bad. Portions are decent and you get your moneys worth. The take out option is handy too :)

Food and service is great, lovely meal and the presentation is neat. My favourite is the basil dish with duck because the duck is smoked. Modern setting yet very traditional as well, would go again and recommended :)
Rachel Walton
I ordered takeaway from here as it had such good reviews on MM. Entrée-size of Tom Kha Gai which was very generous and a lovely balance of flavours. I also ordered the mixed entrée comprising 4 items, none of which were very nice. Very oily and looked and tasted like re-heated food). I didn't finish them.

We went to Thai Chef in Wellington for a friends birthday dinner, and everything was amazing. <br/><br/>The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the birthday girl got a free shooter!<br/><br/>The food - oh man, the food. I'm going to have dreams about that green curry, it was flawless. The black pepper beef was also incredible. Just so so good.<br/><br/>Highly recommend, and we'll definitely be back!
Olivia Winstone
Absolutely loved our experience at Thai Chef! I had "The Cashew Nuts" dish for my main. A beautiful stir-fried Thai dish that had a quite heavenly 'homemade sauce', and loads of seasonal vegetables, tasty onions, and of course cashew nuts. I chose to have tofu with mine, which was of the deep-fried 'puffed' variety. Really delicious.<br/><br/>A definite bonus about this place was the soft accoustics. We could easily hear each other talking. Looking up, it looks like some thought has gone into how to soften the sound in here, as they have thick black cushions laid across trellis, hanging on chains from the ceiling - very clever, I thought!. The rest of the decor is lots of lovely red and gold furnishings, in warm Thai style.<br/><br/>The man who served us was excellent. Interpreting my Mum's request for no onion or garlic as "okay, so nothing from the onion family - no spring onion, etc either". Great communication. Spot on, we were very impressed.<br/><br/>Only room for improvement I can think of, was that on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was very quiet - so there were loads of table options for where we could sit... but our group of 4 was seated right next to the only other couple in the restaurant. I just felt like I was in 'their space' a bit.<br/><br/>My summary for Thai Chef's in Blair St: Great food, great ambience, great staff. I highly recommend this lovely Thai place.
Katy Turner
We went last night and were really disappointed. We waited 45 mins for our drinks to arrive and a highchair, over an hour for our entrees and then three of the mains arrived and were not hot and we had to wait for the 4th. Service was friendly but inconsistent. Food was ok but overall we thought for $35 a head it was not worth it. We won't be returning.
Angelique Huckstepp
We went there tonight intending to have a great meal experience as 1 year ago. Ordered entree, muscles and no moon tonight honey then for mains, The Ocean Volcano dish &amp; Mr Bean in BKK &amp; Jasmine Rice.<br/>Muscle was ok, the no moon tonight tasted horrible, 1 of no moon tonight had no filling as it burst out when they put them in the deep fry, the volcano dish was tasteless and had no fish fillet inside, instead it had fish flakes like tinned tuna/salmon.<br/><br/>It's very disappointing night, would not recommended people to go there.
Brendon Glendinning
Just awesome, Went with a group of people and every bit of food that came out was delicious, Good service and friendly - I would highly recommend this place.<br/><br/>Menumania makes me type more characters so I am typing more characters, apparently you have to type more than 200 character, is this enough yet?
Annmarie Sully
First time take away very pleasant staff on entry even remembered to give us a loyalty card! Service was long enough to know your food was fresh but not too long for a take away. Food was amazingly tasty so full of flavour small meals for 2 if sharing one dish but with the amount of starter you can have that's ok. Starter just a wee bit of grease but always the way when put into paper bags for take away tasted great and not greasy on the hands <br/>Main dish was so full of flavour we and hot 1 as recommended and although not hot it did have just enough taste to account for the amount of flavours. <br/><br/>Great will defo be going again and dinning in as inside was warm friendly and inviting
Anba
Poor service, took 45 minutes for them to even take our order, made some mistakes with the order, and the food was average.<br/><br/>The dishes came out about 25mins after ordering and then they forgot one person's in our group.<br/><br/>At the end there was a problem with the bill -charged us for things and just had a bad attitude about it like it was our fault, not friendly.<br/><br/>Won't be returning.
Alphonse
Okay so I've only tried the takeaway from Thai chef on 2 separate occasions. On the first time we've ordered Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice and both we're tasty and satisfying. On the second it was just as good, except this time the fried rice was a little blander than usual, not seasoned as well. Regardless it should be about time to try this place for dine in and post an update about the experience.
Alice
We have dined here 3 times and the first time was good but the other 2 times were poor at best.<br/>The food was average the atmosphere is akin to a pub and the service is average as well.
Nev
First time visitor last night: I had the Sexy Little Duck and she had the Cashew Nuts with with mixed seafood, both from the Golden Wok menu. Both dishes were delicious! Staff were friendly and attentive. We'll be back.

Went here the other nite only because monsoon poon had a 40minute wait. This place was surprisingly pleasant the food was fab and the pricing was very reasonable. The Royale omlette delicious perfect combination of tastes. A must for a cheap quality eat will be telling everyone to dine here.<br/>went back for a lunch meal and it was lovely so fresh and flavoursome. I had the royale omlette which is divine with the coconut noodles - I highly recommend this to anyone wanting some fresh and different.

went here for my daughters birthday. well to start off with. the service was awful. we had made a reservation and when we turned up the waitress came about 10 minutes later to take our drink order. she took a few orders and left while the others were still waiting to place their order. than the mains were ordered.the mains started arriving and we did not have plates. than a few plates came and the rest of us had to wait and after a couple of times asking the waitress for plates finally it arrived. than they were not washed properly.had to send them back. half the mains came while the others had to wait for more than 20 mins. we asked for more rice and it did not come after 25 mins and by that time the food was getting cold. the mains barely had enough meat in it. after we finished the mains we asked for desert menus and were given that but we waited for 15 mins and no one came to take our order. we just had to leave after that. wen had a look at the receipt found out that we had been charged extras for meals we did not have. we wont be going back.
Vaishnavi Gunasagaran
Went there a couple of times for dining, and had also made a takeaway. Love the service and food here, amazing! The waitress is friendly and attentive. However, newbies might take some time to decipher the menu for all the food have fancy names. I would definitely comes back here again!

Good job, they have nice food and good service
Mick
We came here for dinner tonight. The food was kind of good. The service was not up to what I expected as standard. The waiters were joking around behind the counter and didn't seem professional. After we got home I was extremely thirsty. And I realised that they must have used a lot of MSG in their cooking to enhance the flavour. MSG stands for monosodium glutamate which is not good for health. Therefore we were very disappointed.
Mike Tran
The food was good, the sauce were excellent. I had the Duck in Love curry, it was very tasty indeed. My friends had the Satay Duck and it was also very nice. With only two course and we were very very full at the end.<br/><br/>Nice location, good staff. Overall would definitely come back to try the other options. <br/><br/>The only missing star is for the weird taste cocktails.
Christopher Adams
Nice meals, and service was very good I would go back again. I ate there in December.

Good vegetarian selection. Authentic tasting. My favorite Thai restaurant in Wellington. However, if you want a quiet romantic dinner conversation, the place is very noisy.

Ordered takeaway over phone, drove in from J'Ville. We ordered 2 Thai Beef Salads and a Green Curry.<br/><br/>I got home and had three containers of rice and 2 beef salads but no FRICKEN CURRY.<br/><br/>Called them and was politely told to come back and get it. Um, no i told her, I'm in Johnsonville and we are not driving all the way back in. Also the message left on my phone by the lady said 'you forgot your curry' well actually they forgot to put my curry in the bag, so they even had the nerve to make it out as if it was my own fault.<br/><br/>Anyways apparently i can have a free curry - the one I actually paid for so it's not free, and they weren't even willing to offer me anything else, poor poor customer service.<br/><br/>Also the beef salads were missing lettuce and cucumber, so all in all not a good experience this time.
Nattachai Chang
I rate this restaurant the best in Wellington, yes, you pay what you get but in fact only 2-3 dollars more than other Thai restaurant. I fortunate enough to bump into the restaurant when they were having Royal function for Asian Ambassadors.<br/><br/>Superb meals which we cannot fault anything. Surely we recommend it.
Melissa
went there on Saturday night - the food was just amazing. We like authentic thai food, we had the number two banquet - lovely and spicy.<br/>We received separate entrees and shared four delicious mains and had a desert called the hairy banana - which was again delicious, battered bananan with maple syrup over it with chocolate sauce and vanilla icecream. Favourite main - the Naughty Pig!<br/>Get in there!
Yvonne Choo
The food was good. But the service was average . We have read the reviews before we went there, tried naughty pig as recommended, the pork was really tasty. Bit pricey compare to other Thai restaurants, but you pay for what you get. Will definitely go back but not Friday and Saturday nights since they're busy, the staffs seems very tired, just ignore you.
I Love Thai
we went there last week, the food was good and the menus were very exciting to read. however, it is a bit pricey when it comes to sides eg. nam-pla-prik (fish sauce w/ fresh chillies) costs $2.50 and plain fresh chillies costs $3.00 i dont think costumers should be charged for these kind of stuff, since we paid a lot of money towards the dish and when nam-pla (fish sauce) only costs $3to 4 dollars for 750ml at asian shops.
Caffeinated Weka
We tried Thai Chef's for the first time on a Friday night and were impressed from start to finish. The mixed appetiser is an excellent way to sample several different flavours. Our mains (beef red penang curry and chicken with cashew nuts) were absolutely flavoursome and beautifully presented. Our service was very efficient - just the right amount of time to order and very little wait between courses. We will definitely be back.

Have been here twice and enjoyed it. Have taken kids as well and they also enjoyed. Staff were very friendly and in general the meals are of a very good standard. I do agree with some other reviews that the heat has been westernised, and sadly they have some 'kiwi' versions on the menu which were disappointing, essentially meat and vege with gravy - that was the only serious letdowns - but knowing that I would happily return and order different foods.
Dee
had a wide choice menu available. waitress was friendly, checking after the meal had arrived to see if it was satisfactory. would definitely be going back to dine.
Ando
great food, I have been to Thailand many times and I rekon they trump most of the resturaunts over there. i reckon the guy who gave the bad review probably got bad service cause the staff must tier of people like him and probably switched off half way through 'the speach' and who can blame them. I too love hot HOT food and after asking for this I got some of the hottest food i have ever had, similar to Thailand
TrueReview
Unfortunately NOT a good experience here! T<br/>he attitude of the staff member present was atrocious.(the only reason ANY stars were awarded was the food was tasty, and reasonably authentic and fresh) <br/>Myself and my fellow diner are well versed in all cuisine, particularly Asian. I do not have much tolerance for the continual "Dumbing Down" of food to the western palate particularly in regards to chili. <br/>Most New Zealanders are feeble and think that what is mild is HOT. <br/><br/>I am very specific that i want to be able to TASTE the chili(every new restaurant with spicy food i visit is given "the speech") as not enough spice leaves the dish flat and drab.<br/>The man taking the order was told in no uncertain terms that hot means HOT, no mild nonsense, we also checked before we even sat down that they had fresh chili, which they had.<br/><br/>We ordered 2 lunch panag curries and a special salad, we were again very specific about heat and had said several times we wanted the salad to be "bloody Hot" as per the selection on the menu. When the food arrived the curry was a solid mild(Thai infants eat hotter) and the "bloody hot" salad was SWEET with NO heat at all, this particular dish is heavily reliant on the capsaicin to engender the aromatics and balance the salt/taste of the fish content. <br/><br/>After finally getting the waiters attention and explaining the problem we were told that we had not ordered "bloody hot" and blah blah it was our problem. I said that was unacceptable and i resent being called a liar. He then finally agreed to removing the salad from our bill but insisted we finish and pay for our curry!(we had 1 spoon out of each dish) I asked for some fresh chili but was told it would be $3! and that we could have some chili powder, the problem is that once prepared only fresh chili (plus it tasted way better) can be added to a dish without causing a "pasting" effect(the more dry powder you add the more paste like the sauce becomes)its all very well getting more heat but powder just makes it like sawdust. <br/><br/>THEN when we came to pay we were told we now had to pay for the salad again?(after we were told(with no sorry) it would be removed) AND again effectively told I/we were liars and had not ordered "bloody hot". VERY unprofessional<br/><br/>EXTREMELY angry about this meal, we were going to go to a regular haunt but thought "give a new place a go" <br/>Don't like being called a liar, don't like being told something is hot when it is not, don't like being charged for a key ingredient in what is supposedly cited as "authentic" cuisine.<br/><br/>IF the attitude was conciliatory then the reasonable quality of the food would have meant this restaurant stays on the "list of options". <br/>There are many fine eateries in wellington, with very competitive deals and excellent quality. <br/><br/>It is very easy to make Thai food, as long as you have the right "exotic" components its a no brainer really.<br/>Hopefully these guys get it sorted before they burn(no pun intended!) too many people too early on, OR they are lucky and have no more patrons who know what to look for and expect.

Love, love, love this place. great consistent food. Have been to their Napier restaurant as well and food great there with the same menu.<br/>Heaps of choice - best menu of any Thai restaurant by far. We go Sunday and Monday nights in Wellington as it's their BYO nights.<br/>Try Naughty Pig! Also is an add-on to the 2008 entertainment card - they will accept!

I came here for my birthday dinner and had an amazing experience. The food tasted exquisite and of quality (I had the Red Curry, hot on the spice scale w/rice - just delicious). It is slightly pricy for students, like myself, but the service and quality of the meals were worth it. Only complaint is that my reservation of 23 was three chairs short at our table, although two people could not come anyway and we were able to pull another chair up. Overall this is definitely a spot Thai cuisine lovers must check out, and I am looking forward to eating here again in the future!
