Review Mr Go's - Wellington

Raymond Goh
Great place for sharing and tasting variety of food. All the dishes we ordered were very nice. Portion is a bit small though so don't expect to be very full or prepare to pay for it.

Great food, and great service, and a nice open space - we can't wait to come back! Many seating options and spaces depending on the size of your group and preferences. Our server was very friendly, and helpful, and really put the visit perfect ☺️ I also like that the bathrooms are just a bunch of single stalls (even if it's not meant to be) nicely inclusive. The cocktails in fancy pictures on the menu actually arrive in cups of the same shape and we found out (upon request) any drink can be served in one of them 😁 The at table payment is a handy option to avoid congestion at the till/entrance/exit area. But sometimes, as it gets busy, its a bit hard to flag down staff to bring your bill over 🙃 Overall a great experience and recommend you give it a try!!

Food quality was great, but in our honest opinion the service was a little confusing, even though we was told that it wasn't quite like the buffet experience if you have a table of multiple guests eating, the waitress suggested ordering as if the meals were sharing options only they are actually individual meals, which seemed to cause the food to arrive at random times to the table so we all ate at different times however we did share some of the food amongst ourselves so that we didn't go hungry between each others meal showing up. Definitely a strange arrangement for this dining experience. Either way, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and like I said, the food was really good quality with plenty of variety to choose from. If you could also let me know where I can get one of those Lucky Cat drinking cups from that would be awesome, a friend of mine from England really wanted one.

The food was surprisingly good and tasty. I enjoyed my lunch and was pleased with their combination of different flavours. We tried veggie fried rice, lamb dumplings, beef bao, and cream cheese wontons. Everything was yummy; I particularly enjoyed the wontons that were super crunchy outside but creamy and tasty inside. I absolutely recommend them. Clean ambience, smiley staff, and good service. Will come back :)

When we arrived into the restaurant it took longer than expected for one of the staff members to greet us and seat us at a table. The service could've been better and more friendly, but the food was amazing and very tasty. We had the kung pau cauliflower, pork belly bao bun, popkorn chicken and pork fried rice. The cocktails were great too and one of them was served in a cute cat jar. The restaurant atmosphere was great and very busy.

Went there twice in three days, super good food & excellent service. The salted plum soda is amazing. Every item was delicious - recommend the cauliflower and greens. A lot of peanuts on many things, so best to avoid if you have allergies. Dishes are small, so get a couple, and share with the table to experience more range. Food is fast, so can always order more as you go!

First time here and it was amazing. Friendliest staff, service was awnn! Great menu, food came out really quick. Only down thing for me is that rice is $4 and cup of chips is $14 which was so small, it’s overpriced for very small portion and mediocre fires. Apart from that the food was great im going back.. I’ll be getting 3x cups of rice instead of the fries 😂 I can just go back just for the friendly staff and great service lol

Wish I could give it 6 stars! All of the food was *amazing*, especially the pork belly. We also loved our cocktails.

We had a delicious meal at Mr. Go's. The food came quite quickly - and on arrival was very tasty. We had a Fish & a Pork Belly bao bun, then, to share, the Tamarind Prawns (tasty - but quite spicy), the Popcorn Chicken (a classic done well) and the Pork Fried Rice (a fantastic opener). The cocktails were also great - some come in unique vessels which is fun, but pick based on taste rather than looks. For dessert we had the Coconut Mess and the Deep-Fried Ice Cream. The Deep-Fried Ice Cream was delicious, but I felt the ice cream could have been a little colder, and the batter a little hotter to really capture what is great about the dessert staple. That said, the honey sauce with which it was prepared was phenomenal, and more than made up for the very minor temperature short-coming. Staff were friendly and helpful, and as I said the food was brought to the table in a timely manner. I would highly recommend eating at Mr. Go's.

Had a v good experience. Service was friendly, they squeezed us in even we didn’t have a reservation. Good vibes, good baos.

Having heard of Mr Go's from my Wellington based family we decided to pop in on a whim for a family lunch. We were seated promptly and ordered drinks and a selection of dishes to share as we were advised. Everything was stunningly beautiful and gorgeously fresh! We ordered Bao buns, Tamarind Prawns, Pork Dumplings, Green Beans and the infamous KungPao Cauliflower (I Highly Recommend!!) We look forward to returning again soon!

My wife and I popped in for a spot of lunch. We ordered a couple of dishes, and every single one was excellent. Service was great , we weren't left waiting for anything too long. We didn't have any of the drinks , but they did have quite a selection! Highly recommend this place.

Amazing vegan options and versions of Asian cuisine with bold and interesting flavours. I'm not a salad person but had the nori and avocado salad and it was SENSATIONAL. Fun atmosphere and lovely cocktails in adorable tiki mugs. Top spot for vegans in Wellington.

Absolutley awesome! Staff were friendly & welcoming. Food arrived fast and it was amazing! Highly recommend the pork dumplings & custard wontons!

We had this place recommended to us and it lived up to its reputation. Awesome atmosphere and Rosie was a great host ....also the food was hot fresh and soooo tasty ....very enjoyable

Awesome service, good atmosphere and great food. I went in there Wednesday just gone the 08/11 after receiving my citizenship (I was carrying a certificate). The lady at the counter immediately congratulated me, she checked on us a few times whilst we were having dinner, to ensure we were having a nice evening, and even provided a complimentary dish as a way of welcoming me to NZ. Overall awesome experience, highly rated and recommended.
Chris Lamb
Every dish here really hit the mark! We loved all of the food and the staff were very nice. Definitely worth a visit and we'll be coming back for sure 😊
Crystal
Great service and seatings. The Korean pancake was wonderful as a dessert. It is chewy with rich fillings, but not too sweet. Although the size was very small but would like to try agin

Saw the great reviews on Google + Zomato, so I decided to visit Mr Go’s and try out their Asian fusion dishes.

***** Green Beans $11 *****
Green beans were flavoured well, I could taste the spice coming from the chilli 🌶 sauce.

🐓 General Tso’s Chicken $16 🐓
This is one of Mr Go’s monthly region dishes for February 2020. I felt that the garlic and ginger sauce was a bit too over-powering. It did not help that the chicken pieces had too much skin in proportion to the meat itself.

🐟 Fish Gua Bao $13 🐟
I really loved ❤️ this dish a lot. The milk bun and market fish was soft and easy to eat. The flavours had a good balance of spicy and mild flavours from the mayo, salsa verde, and dukkah seasoning.

***** Ambiance + Final Words *****
Appreciated the friendly service, the waiter was prompt and also made sure that I was looked after. He asked for my feedback about the food, which is always a good sign. 👍

If you are looking for a lively vibe with neat variety of artwork, then I would recommend this place for social gatherings or if you are visiting the CBD. I certainly will be back to sample the Chicken Gua Bao and Indian Fried Chicken dishes. 🙃

Blown away by all of the dishes my friend and I indulged in here. Mushroom wontons were particularly moreish, swimming in a fabulous sauce with perfect translucent wrappers. Their prawn toast was a feast for the eyes and palette. Mr. Go's is a casual restaurant punching above its weight in the flavour department. We came here on a recommendation, and I'm pleased to say it was the highlight of our Wellington food adventures.

Excellent food, vibes and service! Food was well cooked, seasoned and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly, attentive with small details like water. Everything you want from a good restaurant, highly recommend!
Glynis Sinclair
Excellent service, friendly staff. Menu explained well, food came out promptly and all dishes we chose were presented well and tasted delicious.
Kate.mcpherson123
Mr Go's always has delicious food and great service, the only thing on the menu that I wouldn't recommend is the dumplings as they have never been amazing when I have gone. Other than that the cauliflower is beautiful and is a great place to go with groups.
Sheryl
we loved this place! we tried the tofu bao, KFC wings and pani puri.
The pani puri was WOOOOOOW!

for more check out @wellymunchers on the gram
Hannahmareecarr2
Super friendly and accommodating staff. Even though the place was pretty much full, the food came out quickly and was delicious. The menu has a lot of variety and can accommodate different dietary requirements too.
Luigi
I ordered the pork belly bao, my friend ordered the fried chicken bao & we got a side of fries / wings. The wings were a tad salty and had gone soggy but were a nice with the fries. The pork belly bao was delicious but small for the price, same with the fried chicken bao. Overall, great experience but definitely overpriced.

What a wonderful lunch we had here. Food is absolutely amazing, very unique flavors. My personal favourite - cream cheese wontons. We also had tofu bao bun, vegetarian dumplings, spring onion pancakes, surprise beer from the tap during happy hour & mango doctor (cocktail).
Food - 4.5/5
Ambience- 5/5
Service - 4/5
Cost - very reasonably priced for the sort of food and service they deliver.
Highly recommended!

Dinner here after finding some great reviews on Zomato during a visit to Wellington.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and considering it was a Wednesday night, the place is very lively. Tables all occupied we were lucky to time it right and get seated straws away.

Staff are friendly and attentive, really appreciated the service here and the food was just as good. Really enjoyed the Korean fried chicken wings and my Pineapple Express cocktail.

Definitely will be back for more next time I’m in the area ☺️
Crackerjacker
They serve up some very delicious baos. Also ordered some chips and they give you a very decent amount. There’s heaps of food for two people if you get a bao each and a bowl of chips to share. Had a bad experience with the staff who kept pushing us out the door after like 40 minutes and like 10 minutes after our food had come out

Lovely ambiance with a mix of seating options. Mr Go’s is one of many establishments in Wellington that’s embraced the causal dining scene.

Before dining in, I’ve heard mixed reviews from people around the taste of food. The point of contention being that the food isn’t that authentic. Unfortunately at this point in time I’m not able to correctly comment on this as I did not officially dine in, rather my group dropped by to have some dessert. All of us ordered the twist and it was awesome. Great combination of flavors the dark richness of the peanut butter and chocolate with the light cereal milk was fabulous and I would highly recommend it.

Showstopper: the Twist is awesome!

Overall Grade: B+
Octagon Pie
I had Avocado Nori Salad, Mince and Parmesan Dumplings and a Sparkling Mint Water?? Everything was beautiful, and well priced! Very impressive and will be back to try more of the yummy dishes!

It’s so helpful having a foody daughter in the family - especially when it comes to leaving it up to her to choose a spot for dinner. We end up at Mr Go’s, who is apparently a fairly new kid on the block of Asian Fusion/street food. At just after 7:00pm on a Tuesday night, the place is pumping pretty hard, but after a few minutes, a table leaves, creating an opening for us.
Recommendations include any of the Bao Buns, which are a medium size, and taste bloody marvellous!!! We had the chicken, classic pork and pork belly - oh so good!!!
Followed up with Korean fried chicken wings, cream cheese wontons and Spinach chaat. Great flavours and textures abound, and I can highly recommend any of these dishes - they are all quite exceptional!
2 beers, a Prosecco, plus the food for 3, comes to $94.50, and leaves plenty of room for an indulgent dessert elsewhere.
Sarah Balchin
Amazing! It’s worth the wait every time! So yummy 👏 a great selection of GF options - the crispy tofu is delicious. Their bao buns and cocktails are amazing!
Emma Bell
My absolute fave place to head out in Welly! Chicken bao and cream cheese wontons are my standouts!!! So yummy! The billy apple cider is also beautiful. Cool atmosphere, lovely staff and insane food!

Hello Jeffree 🌟 here! ! Omg best Italian food I’ve ever eaten in her life! Very yummy in her tummy, I got the vegetarian fettuccine.
Rihanna ate the ravioli ravioli give me the formuoli and she was delightfully surprised by the exquisite flavor and perfect seasoning.
Sasha fierce got the risotto rice dish. Very authentic, just like Nona used to make.
Ciao Bella

My hairdresser recommended Mr Go’s for lunch. Was greeted and seated. Not too busy at lunch. I chose the bao of the day - pork belly ($6). It was on my table promptly and was tasty but lacked the subtle herbs and spices I’ve experienced elsewhere. Nonetheless, a good lunch spot.

Came here with a friend. We were lucky and got in early (4.30pm) and within 20mins the place was packed. My fav was the fried chicken bao and the thick rice noodles. Will be back to try the rest of the menus.
James Ong
Really good fusion food, I mean this place is still packed at 8.45pm at night!! (Most restaurants in Wellington take last orders from kitchen by 9ish) There are various chefs from different backgrounds, each bring their own culinary expertise to the mix. Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken Wings, and the Taiwanese Pop Corn Chicken. Also featuring Garage Project beers to compliment the meals is a stroke of genius! Service is fantastic, staff are friendly and down to earth, even though this place always seems to be the busiest restaurant in Wellington. Overall experience very good. Highly recommended
Peter
Great meal. A different concept but so good. So many different menu items to have. It didn’t seem like we ordered much when we ordered, but the food just kept coming. Well recommended.

Mr Go’s only reopened 5 days ago after a refurb, same decor with more room. We decided to dine early on a Saturday night due to the popularity of this place. We walked in at 5pm and had a few seating options. The service was good, very attentive. Cocktails had great flavours. We ordered an array of food from springs rolls, fish cakes, fried rice to the fish and skirt steak. All food ordered was tasty and excellently seasoned. I loved the amount of chilli in the fish cakes, not overly spicy but they weren’t shy in using it. I will definitely visit more frequently!

Checked this out while in Wellington. Menu and prices similar to my local Chinoisserie in Auckland. Casual with friendly staff - the bao were nowhere near as good as Chinoisserie but the wine, beer and asian chicken salad hit the mark. 3.5 stars

Their text for a table service is a bit iffy but other then that it was an amazing place with quite service. Tho be warned their spicy options are spicy

After reading the reviews thought to give this place a try. The popcorn chicken, Kung Pao cauliflower and the satay sauce from the beef skew were very salty. The fried rice was oily. The only thing that was nice was the pork belly bao. The table was sticky and the Service was not very attentive even when the place is not very busy.

KMRWelly
Liked the idea, food was tasty. Service and attention to detail needs work.

Asked for an Aperole the waitress said they didn’t have any, they did, and didn’t care.
Chelle Marie
Amazing food, amazing service, worked around our group's allergies and Tom was a great waiter. Would recommend the panda cocktail, the cream cheese wontons and the fish bao!

Visited this place twice during our 4 night stay. Nice selection of tasty asian dishes. Definately worth the visit and good value. Does get busy so get in early.

My department and I came here for a small end-of-year gathering. We were told ahead of time that we would have to vacate our table at a set time. This was slightly off-putting; I don't like to feel rushed when I eat and do quite like to have some drinks after my main meal, however the time we were given was ample. Their cocktail menu was awesome, and I totally recommend the 'Pineapple Express' cocktail for those who like things a bit sweeter. Our food arrived in good time. There was a slight error made with one of our meals, however the friendly staff quickly rectified this. I would certainly go again :)

Great place. Loved the concept and the food. This place serves small, tapas-like, dishes. But with an Asian twist. The food was fresh and cook very well. We had the tofu bao and fish bao, ginger fish, fried rice, pork dumplings and kimchi dumplings goat skewers and popcorn chicken (which is the BEST). Sounds like a lot, but dishes were small and we had 6 people eating.

They also had a special allergy menu, which all restaurants should have. It's the same dishes as the main menu, but just clearly marked with allergens. Very user friendly.

I'd recommend this place. Great for brunch, lunch afternoon tea or dinner. We'll be back again.

We came in for a quick bite before Blade Runner. It was quick and the staff were very proud to have won the burger challenge! We had the bun with pork and pickles that went well together. There was alot of pork. Fried rice was extremely moist and chewy, qualities that we like. Spring onion pancakes was not enough. Fried dumplings were fresh. We enjoyed our meal and will come again.
Grace Nesbitt
Cauliflower, eggplant, tofu bun, and the wontons and dumplings were all amazing. Will be back next time I'm in wellington. Doesn't take bookings for less than 4 people so get in early, particularly on saturday night. one and a half hours waiting time!!!
La Rata
One of the best in Wellington! Adventurous flavours and amazing value! Meals are stunningly delicious and reasonably priced. Worth the wait on a full house!
Hannah.milne11
Fabulous food and great service! I had the chicken bao and it was delicious, although it looks small it is super filling and full of flavour! I will definitely be back again ☺️
Lu-Ellen Televave
Service was awesome and the food we had was beautiful. Flavoursome tender and served in a timely fashion considering how busy they were. A very popular place around lunch and according to my aunt, she is a regular.
No bookings available it's first in first serve and if no seating available you'll have to wait but it is worth the wait😉
Mcgivernkayla
Went when it was super busy so expected it to be a bit rushed... Did not expect the food to taste microwaved and bland. Added siracha to almost everything and left feeling slightly sick. The bao bun was soggy on the bottom and the popcorn chicken sauce tasted like sugared mayo. So sad cause I really wanted to like this place so much!
Coco
First time trying this place out after seeing reviews on it quite enjoyable food with a Very unique bun style. First time trying it and loving it. Them popcorn chicken with the sauce was yummy too.

Place is small and sweet.
Amazing food. Had a cream cheese wonton, kimchi and chocolate brownie all was to perfect. Good options for vegetarian. Good service. Order came quickly.
Overall a good experience.

I'd been meaning to visit Mr. Go's for so long and finally managed to go tonight! My friends and I were explained how the menu works similar to Tapas where you kind of need more than one plate and usually plates are shared among friends. Which was great! We were also informed about their Wellington On A Plate menu and about their burger or boil up broth selections. Two of us went for the burger while one mate grabbed the boil up. We were all surprised at the burgers, kiwifruit AND pulled pork? Together in a steamed bun situation? It left me questioning the idea but sure enough, it was a pretty good meal for $19. Everything was yum and the service was quick and helpful. Thank you Mr Go's, I will come back and stake out my next line of dishes soon.
Sharon Harvey
Quite busy because of Wellington On A Plate. We got the chicken salad which was nice and had a kick. Ordered the popcorn chicken (which was yum) and cream cheese wontons, which were amazing!! Photo is of the Festive burger which was really good. I will definitely be back as the food was tasty and fresh. Great customer service even though they were really busy.
Parcasso
Terrible service. They missed our online order saying "it wasn't printed out". The first staff we talked to was indifferent and didn't even apologise. Then they made our order, a staff packed it and then left it sitting on the shelf - even though we had been waiting for 15 minutes a few metres away. WE had to follow up. There seemed to be no communication between staff whatsoever and they were not very attentive. It was not a pleasant experience and would not return. I had heard good things about this place so it was more disappointing. Food was ok but not great enough to compensate for the appalling service.
Keri King
Wow yummy food great staff tables a little too close to each other but it's so popular you can see why this is. Will definitely be returning soon
Vicki Wong
A long overdue trip to try this talked about restaurant. Was overwhelmed with the number of diners already seated at 6:30 on a tuesday? Strong wafts of nuoc cham, hoisin and other robust asian sauces filled the small dining room. A loud upbeat soundtrack added to the cacophony in the room and only fuelled laughter and chatter among the happy patrons. Once seated my dining companion and I ordered the crispy fried chicken bao, the pork belly bao, spring rolls and mince and cheese dumplings to share. The dumplings were bursting with rich mince filling balanced by the sharpness of the parmesan. Both baos were soft and springy to the touch while the pork was unxious and fried chicken piping hot out of the fryer. Spring rolls were crispy yet could have done with more spice in the filling perhaps? An enticing place with its shared bites and certain buzz among customers. Will happily return to try the popcorn chicken and other delectables spotted on opposing tables.
George Ahern
Really happy with our experience. Good selection of food with a different spin on Asian infusion. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. Good price value

Tip: if you want a table here you better get in early!!!
Found the menu online and had to give it a try. Service was swift and the food came out in a decent amount of time. The popcorn chicken is an absolute must and they have a deal before 6pm. It's a share plate menu so we ordered multiple plates, everything tasted amazing. The cauliflower was also a standout.

My only gripe was that the two of us were seated at a table of six (no tables for two) and then another couple were seated next to us.... listening to other convos right next to you is hardly enjoyable! If it weren't for that I'd give 5 stars.

Awesome dinner, will definitely be back.
Lamar Lamaw
Been meaning to try the food in this place for awhile now. It's an Asian fusion foodie's haven👍🏾All of the food we ordered was really good, all bursting with flavor and seasoned to perfection. Will definitely come back. Cannot get enough of the chicken gua bao and Taiwanese popcorn chicken! So yum😊
M.j.battiston
super tasty. the bao are super good, and the pork belly spring rolls are fab too.

just a really nice place to eat really. the atmosphere was excellent and the decor was well done in there.

Work has bought us lunch from here a couple of times and it's been superb on both occasions.

Today I got a tofu bun. I wasn't sure how tofu in a bun would be any good but this was eyebrow raisingly good. Marinated and coated tofu; the texture was firm; very tasty. The bun was soft and the seasoning and garnish complimented the dish perfectly.

A tasty and satisfying meal.

I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

---------

UPDATE
So tonight (about a week since the review above) we popped in for dinner. Friday night around 5:15pm.

It's a cool spot, nice decor. It got busy real quick. Noise level was ok but a little loud.

We ordered a cocktail and red wine.

For dinner;
Kung pow cauliflower
Puri puni potato
Crispy tofu plate
Cream cheese wontons

The cauliflower was the best of the bunch, well seasoned with a chilli Saudi. The wontons were rich but again flavoursome. The puri puni was an interesting dish, small and intricate. The flavour didn't impress as Michigan as the look of the dish but it was still enjoyable. The tofu was tasty but the dish comprises of three large blocks of tofu, lightly coated with pocked ginger. It was good but would have been more enjoyable if it had come with some veg.

On reflection we ordered too many deep fried items and as they come exactly as stated on the menu with no veg etc we would order a bit more carefully.

That said we enjoyed the meal and will be back again.
Jordan
Amazing food and fast service.
Every week they have a special dish roughly $12, popcorn chicken $6 before 6pm and bao of the week for $6 which is a must! They are to die for, chicken bao is my fav, will be back some time this week! 😍😍
Bakers Corner
I came here for a friends birthday and left more than disappointed.

It isn't often easy to go places on a plant-based diet, however, there were two options on the menu. I went for the salad and asked for it very mild.

The salad was very bland, with nothing much to it. As well as this, the amount of spice in the meal was ridiculous. I was not the only one of my friends to experience an overpowering amount of spice as many of my friends, including myself, found our meals unedible.

I will be trying my best not to come here again.
Harry Chapman
Really nice food but it can be quite expensive to get enough to make a meal. Very popular and can be hard to get a table on a Saturday night.
The Welly Mex
Great interior and tasty food. They've got a rotating bao of the week for $6 which is great!Best for nibbles with a friend in the arvo. We had the Taiwanese popcorn chicken which was full and flavoursome ($6 during happy hour!). The pork belly bao was pretty chocka which was nice. Had good flavour but the pork was a little dry. The lemongrass cooler and the pineapple drink was fantastic and refreshing!

Also, they've got OG Irwindale, CA sriracha which is a hugggge plus. We'll be back when we're more hungry fo sho!

Mr Go's is a good place to have a quick bites of the famous gua bao!

Fair warning, it's usually a bit packed for dinner.
Portion is okay, a bit too little for my liking, but acceptable.
Service is above average. Attentive, helpful, and quick.
Ellie Verran
Food was delicious, atmosphere was great and service was exceptional. We were served by a waiter by the name of Keiran who made our experience very special. He knew the menu very well and explained to us how the it worked and gave some recommendations on ordering. He also shared the history of 'Mr Go's' and where the name came from which was very cool to hear. Can't fault the entire experience - will definitely be returning!
Simon Kearsley
Came in for lunch, were greeted and quickly shown to a table. Couldn't resist ordering Popcorn chicken, Pork belly Bao(the fried chicken one too), Pork spring rolls plus the Mince and cheese dumplings. Soon everything arrived and we were wondering if we had overdone it...Fortunately no :)

Everything was fresh and tasty, the two Bao were delicious. I made the mistake of hastily chomping into a Mince and cheese parcel a little too soon, red hot!(always blow on the pie/dumpling)

The dumplings, Spring rolls and popcorn chicken all have various dips and sauces to accompany them, each bringing a little extra flavour.

We went with a couple of the soda mixes off the drinks menu, quite refreshing. All up, it was $61 for the pair of us, well fed and pretty happy with everything. Will be back :)
Andrew Jenkins
Delicious food and great modern restaurant! Definitely try a Bao bun, the Korean Fried Chicken Wings, Fish Cakes and popcorn chicken! Some of the best food I've ever had.
Zac Vermeulen
Great place to share plates with friends. The food is fresh and the Baos are delicious. Cool fit out and atmosphere. Generally the wait staff are friendly and allow you to enjoy a casual dining experience.
Shar Young
Pork belly bao was great, we ordered the duck lettuce cups, Korean chicken wings, Squid and Paua dumplings. The squid was under-seasoned, Paua dumplings were ok, not the texture i like... duck lettuce cups were tasty but portions were small. Korean wings were tasty. Great and fast service, but don't think I will go back anytime soon.
S
Pork belly bao was delicious but everything else was average. Could use more seasoning on the crispy squid and the Paua dumplings didn't do it for me
Gerhard Joseph
Went here for dinner with a friend on a Wednesday night and we were served pretty quickly. Tried their bao buns - loved the pork belly!

A bit of warning, if you don't order the correct sides, you may be disappointed with the servings. (For example the prawn cocktails were so tiny). We had to keep ordering more just to fill us up.

I would nevertheless give it another chance someday.
Tony
Tapas Asian style with wide selection of dishes. We tried the lovely Bao buns, crunchy squid rings, Kung pao cauliflower, mince and cheese dumplings and prawn salad on won ton crisps. Plenty more on offer making for a good reason to return! Great drinks selection includes craft beers as well as mocktail options. Friendly, fast service. Highly recommend.

Came here for dinner last week with a friend of mine and we had a very good experience. The only thing I didn't like was the popcorn chicken was too salty and a bit dry and they have tiny servings.
Theo
Visited Mr Go's for first time on Friday night after hearing good things. It didn't disappoint- needed to wait a bar for a bit for a table but enjoyed a pint and then were quickly sat down. Bao are simply awesome, soft buns, epic sauces and the bite's to share were very tasty. Odd comment here about value but we felt portions were very reasonable, with the actual plate itself being the only small thing, and for $67 for two incl drinks left happy. We like their use of free-range pork too. Reccomended

Visited on Saturday evening, all tables full but 20min waiting time went quickly sipping tasty cocktails by the bar. Our first course, popcorn chicken was a bit dry, but otherwise tasty. Paua dumplings and mince & cheese dumplings were disappointing: paua filling was tasteless and chewy, mince&cheese was soggy and uninspiring. Our next courses, gado gado and pickle plate, were much better. Good textures and yummy peanut in sauce in gado gado, and big pickle plate with just enough spiciness. We finished our meal with pork gua-baos, which were great, even though parts of the meat was dry as jerk meat, and chicken wings, that were covered in delicious glazing, but again were slightly dry. $30pp with a cocktail not bad at all, I would go again to sample the rest of the menu as it looks very interesting.
Frederica Steiner
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and exciting menu! The cocktails, bao buns and the chicken wings were a particular hit. Very reasonable prices - cost $30 per person for good amount of food for dinner and a drink.

Okay so We came here last night for a last minute dinner option as we were across the road at the gym. I think this is my new fav in welly! Im a massive Asian fusion fan and i can't comment on the whole menu but what we had was delicious so tasty and cheap! cheap cheap! even better. We had the steamed milk buns, ( favorite ) everything in it had so much flavor i wanted more! we also had the edamame salsa and the popcorn chicken. All three dishes were incredible with the milk bun being my favorite. The edamame salsa was different but so good, its more like won tons made into chips with an guac salsa dip! yummm! Again what you pay for the excellent tasty food as well as the great service truly is a magical find this place! We usually go to chow which is good but your bank account hates you after, well after visiting here my bank account still loved me afterwards and wanted to stay friends :P I've just seen online takeaway is also available even better! Can't wait to come back

Early dinner on a Thursday, still started to fill up before we left around 6:45pm. Mr Go's is mainly a tapas style restaurant with Asian inspired nibbles and plates. We shared the edamame salsa and wonton crisps, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, mince and cheese dumplings, and fries with sambal oelek mayo. Although the prices look good, the servings are small so remember it adds up when picking more than a few options to try. I still think the price was good considering we had a non-alcoholic drink each, four savoury plates and two desserts between two and paid $30 each. The desserts were standout, fried bun with chocolate ice cream and raspberry sauce, and donut balls with yuzu curd. Deep fried, crispy and delicious! I'd like to go back and try a few more things on the menu, like the kimchi, spring rolls, squid rings, and satay skewers. One thing I'd like to see is some mocktails on the menu, and the wall behind the counter looks unfinished and distractingly empty from the street with no art, mirrors etc just a few lights. I definitely recommend giving this place a go :)
