Review Cafe Pasha - Wellington

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Abrakebabra, and I must say, their lamb pizza was a true culinary masterpiece. The combination of succulent lamb, perfectly seasoned toppings, and a crisp crust left me absolutely delighted. Each bite was a burst of flavor that showcased the skill and attention to detail of the kitchen. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. I highly recommend trying their lamb pizza; it's a culinary adventure that shouldn't be missed!

Nice please to eat Had their Syrian kebab thing and lamb burger for 15nzd and 11 nzd. Decent please. And good food, specially lamb was delicious. Last but not least free WiFi. The place has halal / حال word on its menu and I saw many Muslims (from their appearance) to be eating there. I asked about HALAL status from the guy who was taking orders and he also acknowledged it. And Allah knows the best.

Self service, friendly staff and generally fine food but the official web site does not update the current food prices!

A Wellington classic. Great food, and really friendly service. These guys know how to make a great kebab. If you ask nicely, they'll put mayo on your chips.

This Kebab place has become an institution in Wellington and for good reason. The food is excellent, the staff are wonderful, the store is worth going to and enjoying the wonderful decor and mood. On the way out, get a can of Dolmas to try. They are amazingly good.

Had the meat on chips. Wasn't the best I've had but it was ok. Not sure the quantity was in line with the cost but wasn't too bad. The service was pretty good and friendly. The decor was pretty good and the atmosphere was the same.

Great food and such a good portion for the price. Was impressed with their service. Ambiance was great and place looked very hygienic too. Try their chicken or lamb Turkish pizzas and you won’t be disappointed. I was told they home deliver food as well, so food sorted for all the windy or wet Wellington evenings. Would love to visit again and try more items from the menu.

Loved the place. The ambience was great. The food was amazing. Prices were a little bit high. Staff were friendly. The location of the place is good very accessible. It's a definite recommendation. This place has a character. Feels like you are in middle east somewhere I guess.

Great food and service! Very authentic. Affordable prices for Wellington. Definitely try the lamb iskender

Keep it short, the best Kebabs, shawarmas, shish kebabs, iskanders, turkish pizza, meat on chips and many other options. Abrakebabra, is the place to visit and enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean food with friends and family. The staff members are friendly and welcome you to inform about their products. Free WiFi is available for their guests. I really recommend this place. Cheers

Not bad Mixed Kabab! The meat was quite mediocre - very smoky though - as was the veges, but the yoghurt carried the entire plate. Absolutely delicious, perfectly creamy, I could straight up drink this stuff. Quite pricey at $26.

We dined on a busy Tuesday night. Staff were friendly and food came out in a reasonable time. I had the mixed shish which was tasty and tender. My partner had a dish called tokapi chicken. Totally recommended.

Food came out looking and smelling beautiful, however the health and safety I found to not be of a suitable standard. My friend and I found bugs all through our food so unfortunately I can not rate the taste of the food as we did not stick around to taste it. We were forgiving when it was one big but within a minute of the food arriving we soon had found 5 bugs.

Excellent food. Fresh flavours and tasty. Good selection of wines and other drinks. Service was just a little on the slow side mainly because the waitress was on her own. Other than that excellent experience and very good value for money. Recommended

Here visiting Wellington for the next 2 days with 9 other people, random decision bought us here and it was amazing! The food did take a while to come out but it was worth it as everyone's food came out at the same time and everyone's food was amazing and were full of flavour. They bought my dish out as a starter rather than a main, however they did not charge me for half of that dish which was so nice of them! Would 100% recommend this to others

I love Turkish/Mediterranean food so when I was in Wgtn for dinner with my dad, we thought we would give this place a go.

It was just average for me unfortunately. Food is basic but just doesnt seem to have a lot of love.

My dad had the topaki chicken which he enjoyed, and I had the casserole with eggplant and yeah it filled me up but needed more flavour quite honestly.

Service was fine, it just wasn't great food. I think there is better food up the road at Istanbul.

Came in on Tuesday night for a pre Xmas catch up with the pub quiz team. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for the mains to show up. I chose a lamb dish, my GF went with a stuffed chicken breast. both were delicious, the lamb was lovely and tender. The other side of the table opted for a vegetarian filo and the Turmeric Chicken main recommended by our waitress. I think the four completely empty plates was enough of a giveaway that we all enjoyed our meals. There is a dessert platter on offer at the moment, we got 4 of those to wind up the evening, delicious!

Definitely coming back :)

Work function. Dinner at Cafe Pasha. Approx: 60 people.

We were given a set menu with a couple of options to choose from. I chose the Topkapi Chicken. The meal was good. Large portion, big piece of seasoned chicken. Plenty of filling. Still juicy. The spinach became a little much/stringy as it still had the stalks but it wasn't a big deal.

Flavoursome dish. Salad was plentiful and fresh.

I also had the Turkish Efes Pilsner. That was ok, not my favourite beer but enjoyable. They have a small but reasonable selection of beers.

I felt that given the size of group, they managed us well.

Would return again.

Great food and great value. $220 for 5 people, 3 courses each and drinks. The young man serving was very good about cleaning up a spilled drink and fixing our wobbly table. We don't usually tip, but we did tonight.

If you want yummy Lebanese food then pashas is the place to go. There is a good selection in the menu. We went for the dips and bread as a starter and the smoked eggplant dip was definitely my favourite. The mains are served generously with loads of fresh salad on the side. Service gets a thumbs up.

I had never been to a Turkish place before but if the quality of food of this restaurant is anything to go by then it's sure to become a frequent part of my dining adventures. The service was friendly and helpful when it came to choosing items off the menu.. The decor gives off a warmth that just makes you feel comfortable, even if it is a little cramped. Good wine selections and excellent meat dishes.. Anything with hummus also gets thumbs up from me

Went out with a few friends for a weeknight meal and was pleasantly surprised with our choice. I ordered the Lamb Guvech and it was beautiful. The sauce was rich and hearty, the lamb succulent, with just the right amount of cheese on top. I also thought the bulghur pilav and side salad complimented the dish well. Some of the others in my party weren't quite as enamoured with their dishes, although they were generously portioned (dishes, not the people!). The service was also very good and even though I didn't have the baklava, those who did raved about it.

While Cafe Pasha was certainly good, I wasn't overly enamoured of it. I had the Taza - chicken marinated in a turmeric sauce. Overall the sauce was quite bland and simple and I probably wouldn't order it again unless I was craving turmeric. The service was great and my friends loved the baklava. It's also BYO which is a great plus!

Went here last week for a workmates leaving dinner, and enjoyed myself. Decor is super welcoming and gorgeous, service is okay too. We had the dips to start- bread was warm and most of the dips were delicious, although a bit hard to digest at first because the flavor combinations used were new to me (think pumpkin and honey hummus, smokey yogurt garlic hummus that had a suspiciously smooth texture) I ordered the Shamiss, which i adored. It's kind of like a turkish rendition of the butter chicken- over rice, tomatoey and a little bit creamy. Came with a big huge salad which was really nice to balance out the heaviness of the meal

I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a good turkish place in Wellington City.

One of Wellingtons better BYO restaurants. You can be guaranteed a table on a Friday or Saturday night without a booking. Healthy and yummy Turkish food. My company has found the meal sizes a bit small for what you pay ($20 average) but I am always satisfied.

Some friends and I came here for dinner tonight. As it is a Thursday night we thought it would be busier but found it really peaceful being quiet. I really enjoyed the environment and the way they decorated it to their culture. The food came out really fast and the service was excellent. I got the chicken salad which was huge and amazing and my friends got the mixed and chicken shish. We were all very satisfied and full after. We used our entertainment voucher which was a 2 for 1 main which was great. Definitely would return and definitely would recommend to others.

We dined in on a Sunday night. Really enjoyed our meals. Menu selection not massive, but concise which also has its positives. Waitress was really friendly. Atmosphere was really comforting and warm. Would go back if in Wellington!

Went out for dinner here on new years eve with my partner. I'm not really into Turkish food so I wasn't really expecting much, but it was FANTASTIC. Food was delicious, wine choices were exceptional and the atmosphere was lovely. We loved the waitress too, she was so nice.
In all, we will definitely be back!

I love this place. I've been three times over the last year and it's my favourite little place in Wellington.

The food is fantastic. Really good sized portions and value for money. The mixed dips are a must. Last time I was impressed when the waiter took the time to explain each dip to us.

The service has been great every time. I'll definitely be going back soon.

Visited here last night with a group of 14. I booked and received a confirmation a month ago but they had us down in the diary for the week before, so didn't have the table ready. Luckily there was space and they rectified it quite quickly. The ambience is good, with lots of seating and it was semi-full last night. Water was brought quickly but no drinks orders were taken throughout the evening. They were happy to fill glasses from our BYO bottles, but the non-drinkers weren't really attended to. Mains were served in good time and the food was tasty and well-presented. I was waiting for the upsell of desserts and coffee but the wait staff cleared our plates and that was that till we left. It seemed like an elaborate kebab shop with seating, so I'd recommend for a quick Turkish meal - wouldn't be my first choice for special occasions.

We visited Cafe Pasha having phoned and explained we were booking for two adults and a child. Upon arrival the waitress was abrupt and somewhat dismissive of our requests for a child's menu. We then discussed adapting the adult menu to suit our daughter which she assured us was fine. However, after our adult mains arrived the waitress returned to say "that the meal we agreed would not be made and could our daughter choose again." With our own food already on the table, this was disappointing to say the least and the staff had no solutions to offer. We were not offered a discount but, told " everyone makes mistakes" not particularly useful when have a hungry six year old waiting for a meal.
We had been to cafe pasha a year ago and had exceptional service and food. This visit saw the food mediocre , service appalling and certainly won't be returning.

We visited about 8 on saturday night and the restaurant was busy. We ordered mains, there was some choice but not a very wide ranging menu as I would have expected. The food was good, I had the adana which had good flavour and spice and was very tender. My partner had a chicken dish which was also good. both came with the standard salad and garnish. The wine list is all mid range and very well priced - they are byo but for the wine prices they charge I would order from their list next time.
In terms of gripes, we went on an entetainment card, and this made prices fine, but just short of 30 for their mains is ovepriced, and the bathrooms need some TLC.
I would go back with a voucher, but not full prices.

Decided to dine on a Monday night using the Entertainment Book voucher. The restaurant was almost empty which got some alarm bells ringing, but we weren't to worry. The food was quick, hot and delicious. Dessert was overpriced (two tiny pieces of baklava for $9), but would go back again, as long as I had another voucher!

Our group have been eating at Cafe Pasha for well over 10 years, but sadly last night will probably be our last visit. The prices have increased, the portion sizes have reduced and the menu has been replaced with a much smaller selection meaning many favourites are no longer available (chicken taza, tagine, meatballs, yanm tava, lamb curry and many of the chocies of dips are gone). When you are charging up to $29.50 for a main, it needs to be either really good food, or at least a decent sized portion of average food. The mains are mostly salad (the standard mesclun, onion etc) and pita bread with a very small meat component that just doesn't stack up to the prices charged. The turkish rice was excellent. The rest of the food was just ok and overpriced.

We had a girls' night out at Cafe Pasha last night. It's been many years since I dined here last and I was conscious that reviews have been mixed. I started out with garlic pita bread and the girls had selections of breads and dips. For my main course, I ordered the chicken shamiss: tender chicken pieces cooked in white wine, garlic, olive oil and herbs in a rich honey tomato sauce. My meal was absolutely delicious, with a large sized portion and cooked to perfection. Our service was slow and somewhat disorganised. When our meals were ready to be served, there was much shouting across the table to see who had ordered what. Surely this could have been noted when our orders were taken? The restaurant environment is pleasant to look at but incredibly loud; we shouted at each other just trying to hold a simple conversation and left after our main courses to find somewhere quieter for dessert and drinks.

A regular dinner venue for me - great ambience, fantastic food, cheap and relatively undiscovered and therefore quiet!
