Review Saigon Taste - Wellington

I love their soupy noodles. It's perfect for cold day. There are vegetarian option but the taste of the soup need improvement.

The food was amazing. We had phở gà and Bún chá giò & thit nuóng chão. The portion was just enough and the price was reasonable. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants good Vietnamese foods.

Most authentic Viet food we have ever had in New Zealand. The owner and staff are super friendly. Almost had our meals here everyday for our whole stay in Wellington.

Saigon Taste is one of our family’s favourite restaurants. Whether you order in or take away the food is always excellent. It’s a family run business that is a part of the Wellington community. You really get a community vibe when you’re there. When it’s busy you might need to wait for your dish but it will be served piping hot and delicious. I enjoyed my Vietnamese coffee as well. If you like authentic Vietnamese food you should definitely try this place.

To all Vietnamese food lovers, this is the place in Wellington that you should not miss. There are so many menus that will definitely serve your appetite for authentic Vietnamese food and of course, one of my favorite is Pho or the beef noodle soup. I really like this one because it comes in a very fresh broth and lots of vegetables. You can get varieties of Viet Namese noodle soup with chicken, different kind of beef and more. I tried the chicken wings as well as its fried chicken and they are very good. You can also try their fresh rolls and spring rolls for extra kick and great appetizer. They also serve a lot of beverages, including famous Vietnamese coffee and avocado with coffee, which is very good. The place is not too big but it has enough space for people. Lunch can be a bit busy and parking can be a bit tricky sometimes.

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant! I always order the Durian smoothie, and my favourite food here is the crispy chicken thighs with fish sauce. Their pho is also very popular. Sometimes it's very crowded. It's better to make a reservation. You can park your car in Courtenay Pl, and walk for few minutes.

Had an amazing time, the service was friendly and the food was amazing. We had the crab noodle soup it was delicous but could use more crab. We also had some steamed rice cakes and they're spectacular, Could have eaten more!

Just like the Bon bo Hue that I ate in Hue! Delicious! The hot black Vietnamese coffee has the authentic subtle licorice flavour (at least that’s what my palate tastes 😀) Kind efficient unobtrusive service. I’ll be back to try the Saigon Pho I’ve found my happy Vietnamese food place in Wellington.

Fantastic food, I highly recommend the vegetarian summer and spring rolls, and the vegan noodle soup option.

Always a pleasure eating here. Food is always good just had to wait a bit but all in all if you are not in a hurry defintely worth the wait

Delicious food. Good service. Good portion and not too expensive. The Pho is on point.

Me and my friends tried a variety of beef rice noodles and they are all quite good. Served with fresh beansprouts and lemon. The taro coconut sticky rice is awesome

Ba Ba Ba Burger on a plate was great. Prawn spring roll starter was fantastic!! Prawns were so fresh and big. Yum!

There was so staff in front of house, so the guy who work in the kitchen looks so busy doing take order and cook the food. We almost wait for 30mins, and beef pho was good. If you like thick beef, it would be nice.

Good place for a bowl of hot noodle soup in a very cold day.

Loved the vegetarian pancake - crispy and lots of great flavors. Thank you!

Had the beef pho, signature dish at any Vietnamese place where the broth tells you everything you need to know. Amazing.

Best Vietnamese food in town. 100% try the pho and lemongrass chicken!

This place was recommended by my Vietnamese friend as he said it was really good and authentic so I came to try. The rice paper rolls and the summer rolls were amazing, they were all gone before I had a chance to take a photo so definitely worth trying. The summer rolls were also really good. The pho was really good too, it was perfect for the cold night when I visited.

Have been to the restaurant both times I've been to Wellington. Price is good and food also. Good for late night Vietnamese food cravings :D

Came in with a large group for dinner on a Friday night. The small kitchen was under the pump to get 30+ meals out and there was a delay with some of the food but that's understandable. I tried the chicken curry and wasn't won over.

Really delicious food. Can't wait to return and try more! Came on a Sunday night and it was packed. I had #37 (oops can't remember the dish's name) ... it was outstanding.
Went here for a quick dinner the other week and was very disappointed with the service. We ordered a couple of mains and some spring rolls to share and had to wait at least 5 minutes between each plate being brought out. We also ordered some drinks and after waiting 15 minutes, we asked the waitress where they were. She responded with "they will be brought out after the main." The restaurant had one other table and about 4 staff so I'm not sure as to why we received service that seemed to move in slow motion. The food here is nice but nothing amazing. The spring rolls were burnt and I have had much better chicken curries elsewhere. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. There are much better Vietnamese restaurants elsewhere in the city.

I dont get some restaurants.... order a drink....get it fifteen minutes late after reminding them. Mains are cooked one by one causing one persons meal to go cold.
..and food over cooked. This is the exact way to describe this place. Also, mild chicken curry means mild....not four chillis worth.

This isn't the place you go to enjoy the atmosphere – you go for some authentic wholesome Vietnamese packed with flavour.

One of my favourite things about this place is their rice paper spring rolls, which are gluten free and delicious! These led me perfectly to my favourite dish – spring rolls and pork on vermicelli, mint and salad, which was served with a Nuoc Cham dressing. This dish is both refreshing and light – a great summer meal. Note: if you want it to be gluten free, ask them to use the rice paper spring rolls, which they are always happy to do!

But in winter nothing really beats a pho, and I can tell you that their beef pho has a good punch of flavour.

The staff here are both lovely and welcoming, and are very accommodating.

This is one of my favourite cheap eats in Wellington.

Sarah Reynolds #challange

I went here for lunch with my grandmother last week and it was so good I had to go back there a few days later with my partner! Service and atmosphere are both extremely friendly and warm. So far I have tried the chicken salad, seafood curry, Vietnamese pancake, spring rolls, and the pho. I would 100% recommend all of these dishes unequivocally. They are all so delicious, so full of flavor and great value for money. Everything tastes so authentic and I can't wait to go back again!

I have now been here for a BYO and a quiet mid-week dinner, it was perfect for both! The food is really great for the price you pay and they also have a wide selection of vegetarian options. I recommend the vegetarian pancake and the vegetarian spring rolls! It felt really cosy on a freezing cold winter's night and the instrumental music was nice and relaxing. Corkage was also really cheap! The only gripe I really have with this place is that two out of the three times I've been there I've wanted to order the pancake - AND THEY SAID THEY DIDNT HAVE ANY. Surely they must realise the pancakes are a favourite of the people and that we all want to eat them ... And I mean how hard is it to make sure you have an extra stash of rice flour in the restaurant.??? Bizarre.

Warm and friendly service, food is delicious. Fried rices and curries are excellent, as is the Vietnamese pancake. My favourite place in Wellington to get a feed.

Very nice and the portion are decent, will come back again. I ordered rare beef noodle soup which I got medium, I think next time I will reconfirm them

Went for dinner (group of six). Two of us ordered hue's spicy beef noodles and end up knowing there was pork in it (we don't eat pork and there's no pork stated as an ingredient in the menu. Plus, we already informed that we don't eat pork when we placed our order). The two of us managed to request for a new order (thank god). I end up ordering fishcake on rice. The fishcake isn't fresh, shrinked and tasted bad. But the rice and veges are fine. Maybe it's our unlucky day, but definitely wouldn't go back there again.

I regularly go to Saigon Taste to get my Pho fix and it's so far the best I think I've had in Wellington. The broth is always very flavoursome and there is always a good helping of beef and its not chewy and is consistently good. The service is always attentive and happy, really nice people who run this restaurant. They also have a $10 lunch menu which is great! If you like Vietnamese food you need to visit Saigon Taste.

I don't understand how some peoples can write such negative comments about the service offered. I lived just next door from this place for more than 2 years and I found the staff being of the loveliest kind imaginable. Never had an issue with them. The owners work really hard to get this place running every day until late while providing some great food. The waiters and waitresses were always smiling, kind, polite, disciplined and helpful. I even had the chance to learn a few words of vietnamese!

Seeing that I wasn't the only regular customer comforts me in the idea that I'm probably not the only one to share those thoughts.

I highly recommend either the rice combination or the dish number 37 from the menu, which I can't recall the name of... it's a vermicelli soup with spring rolls and grilled pork, yum!

I came here for the first time this week. I had heard good things about this place but it totally didn't live up to my expectations.
The customer service was terrible, we weren't greeted when we came in, we were made to feel like a pain by asking for extra seats and unfortunately the food was just OK. It appeared unloved, tasted bland and was cold when served. This wasn't just my experience, but the whole groups - six of us. There are other better Vietnamese places in Wellington, which I will be visiting instead of here.

Looked at the Reviews prior to my weekend visit to Wellington
this restaurant met all of my expectations! After asking for a recommendation for a dish I was served Chicken Hot Pot with coconut and rice, Served steaming the chicken fell off the drum sticks and the flavour of sauce was superb. I ended up having a desert which was also yummy and ordered fresh spring rolls for my outing the following day, I'm looking forward to my next visit to your restaurant of course with friends in tow. Great service and food :)

As a regular visitor over the last year or so, This Mt Vic local is just excellent. The menu is varied and interesting, the food is flavorsome (the pho is one of the best in Welly) fresh, and usually out pretty quickly, and the staff are always unfailing polite. And great value as well. Will keep on coming back.

I love love LOVE this place. I live on Majoribanks Street so its nice and handy to me. The only problem is that I love all their food (especially the pork and wonton noodle soup) so much that I hardly ever make it up the hill without stopping in and geting a meal!

The meals are delicious and very well priced, the staff are friendly, and the waiting time for food is not very long at all.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

this is a great Vietnamese place to go. The whole dinning experience was lovely. we had Pho Ga(chicken soup), chicken curry and the best Vietnamese coffee..If you are like me,and just got back from south east Asia and miss the food from there, then don't wait...go and try this place..you will love it.

I love this place. Simple, fresh and delicious. My favourite place on Marjoribanks for a reasonably priced meal. Love, love, LOVE the house special beef noodle soup. To be honest I wasn't convinced by the pic on the menu, but the taste was soooo good. And the pork and egg on rice.

I hope you guys stick around.. a few others have come and gone.

Fantastic. We've been looking for ages for a good Vietnamese restaurant in Wellington. Great authentic food, very well priced, simple and not overly flashy, yet tasteful and clean. Highly recommended!

Went to Saigon Taste for 'Date night' as it is around the corner from home. The food was absolutely delicious. We had chicken wings and the spring rolls as entrees which were both really nice. My partner had the rare beef noodle soup (pho bo tai) and it was a good sized serving. I had the vermicelli noodles with pork and spring rolls, again a very big serving that I couldn't finish. Both meals were great and were authentic Vietnamese. The menu is varied and I can't wait to go back to try something else. The entrees are priced from $7-$10 and the mains are really affordable at $10 - $15. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The waitress was very polite and the meals didn't take too long to come out.
