Review Kera-la-carte - Wellington

Authentic Indian cuisine, if you want to try the flavours of Kerala.. Nice place which can accommodate a small number of groups. Nice ambience. The food is delicious and everytime you visit, the taste is the same standard. We always go for the vegetarian thali and this time I tried the kottu parota which was mouthwatering. The portion is really enough for a person. The meat is halal so you can request your food to be prepared halal. The best masala chai in the town.

Do yourself the favour of getting their mysore masala dosa! The perfect level of spice too for anyone that likes spicy food. Lovely service too, can’t wait to try out more of their menu. It was only $17-18 which I thought was a deal for the portion size!

Blink and you’ll miss it. This is my favourite restaurant in Wellington. We’re talking incredibly fragrant, mouth watering, and lovely authentic South Indian cuisine. The service is impeccable, and if you’re open minded, let them order for you. I feel appreciated coming into this establishment and valued. Every meal tastes like they’re made with a lot of love and care. I leave feeling well fed, taken care of, and inspired. We loved this place so much, we went back three days in a row and not a single disappointment was had.

Very authentic and delicious Kerala flavored dishes with an affordable price. All staff are welcoming and friendly. Service and presentation are excellent. Ambience will take us to Kerala for a little while...

Its the best Kerala Restaurant with lots of south india food options. It has a good ambience too. The famous kerala Kizhi Patota and Kerala Beef Biryani is very tasty and a must try. You also have palappam and Vegetable stew. You also get other South Indian specials like huge Mysore Masala Dosa, kothu Parota, Chicken Stew, keema dosa, kappa biryani and others. They also serve drinks, sea food, dessert and south indian meals.

Best place in Wellington for South Indian food. Their KLC special dosa and Chicken Biriyani is Top notch!! Mango Lassi is a must try!! Reasonable prices though.. Staff are pretty sweet and co-operative. Would love to visit again whenever I’m in Welly.

Really liked this. Came to see my mum from Australia and she took me here. Food is bursting with flavour, but not too salty. Service is really friendly. Definitely coming again. This is not tasteless sweetnenned westerinesed curry. It is absolutely awesome.

I wish the same restaurant chain opens their branch in Auckland too. The food was awesome and the service too. Shout-out to Rajagopal who got us 15 minutes ahead of the opening time seeing us waiting outside. We met the chef too who made the tasty food. My non-keralite friends were amazed of having the South Indian food. Keep up the quality of food. I would also take this opportunity to say that this place is my top Indian restaurant in New Zealand so far.

It took 50 minutes to get food despite telling them that I need to leave in an hour to Virat’s my plane. I was left with 10-15 minutes to finish food and could not finish food for what I paid for. Food was really good. Best biryani I had on NZ. However I would appreciate some courtesy from them. I paid for full meal and if I could not finish due to them serving late I was expecting them to offer some discount on bill. Would definitely go again but when I don’t have any other commitment after dinner so that I can enjoy their slow service too and finish food.

If you are craving for a South Indian styled Coffee and Cuisine look no further. Had a beautifully crisp and great tasting Dosa aling with Sambar. But the best was Rasam. The Veg thali and Veg Chettinadu was good. The sitting space is limited to 10 Tables. But it more of the food than Ambience place. Bottom line is tasty food is what matters.

Really good, delicious food with a twist. Definitely appreciate the Kerala point of view!

I hope to return soon to try more of the menu. Would recommend.

A gem to induldge into south indian food. Since the day, I arrived in Wellington, I had best vegetarian meal ar Kera-la- carte. Simple and calm sitting for anyone to sit and relax their meal without any rush or noise. I cant wait to make another visit to this place.

Definitely recommended South Indian restaurant. Dosa was good, completely authentic. Liked the chutneys as well but not the sambhar. Chicken Mappas curry was too good, definitely recommended, garlic porotta was perfection. Best was their mouth fresher, saunf. Over all, good dining experience, worth the money :)

love their dosas specially mysore masala dosa. Kerla parotta my all time favourite and this place does justice to every food they serve but quite expensive.
Ridiculously overpriced. We have been regular customers before and they had beautiful dishes. However, got a takeaway today and they were charging extra for gravy items on the side - $6! for a bowl of sambhar (basically, flavoured gravy) and $4 for chutney. That is just ridiculous.

They might as well charge us for the plate and spoon as well.

Once a regular customer who loved their service - but won't be going there anymore. Extortion for such services is just poor - might as well hike the price of the dish with the same outcome, and would have been a happy customer.

This is just pathetic.

Have been to this restaurant quite a few times both dining and take away, good food but noticed that the quantity of the meals seems to be getting less and less every time and last night had a take away and the quantity was way too less. Good food but Expensive and less quantity.

This place is killing it when it comes to authentic Southern Indian food. Pretty average decor and staff, but the food was prompt and amazing, especially for the price. I highly recommend the masala dosa!

We were visiting Wellington and wanted to have something
spicy for dinner. We came across this restaurant.

The place was not too spacious but neatly decorated. The service
was as expected. The food was tasty.

If you are down in Wellington and wanted something spicy for a change,
this place is recommended.

Honestly wish I knew about this place earlier.
Was looking for a place where I could get a good dosa and boy were my taste buds pleased.
We ordered a Chicken Dosa, Chicken Chettinad and a Kerala Porotta.
I've eaten in Kerala and am no stranger to this cuisine so I am really happy to find a place that serves authentic South Indian food.

Great service too!

The main highlight of this place is neither the ambience nor the view from the front window, but the food. Fresh, Tasty, Yummy, Finger licking good Kerala food that makes me nostalgic of my home.

I have been here plenty of times, but to tell you the truth I have never gone past Beef Ulathiyath, Kerala Porotta, Chicken Biriyani and Chaya /tea.

I am not a professional food critique and neither do I have much experience in the food industry, but I can assure you of one thing folks the, food here is “Adipoli” (which means awesome in my native language Malayalam), especially the Beef Ulathiyath, the thought of which makes my mouth water as I type.

A special thanks to the Chef and the team who served every dish with a natural smile at Kera-La-Carte and for refreshing my taste buds with what actual Kerala food tastes like.

Bought some take away chicken 65 and biryani here. Chicken 65 was quite disappointing but the biryani on the other hand tasted good. The restaurant has good ambience and will only have to work on improving few dishes.

Had a takeaway meal. Staff and the service was good .The food was not at all recommendable both on quantity and quality.. $13.00 for 8 pice of chicken 65 what you can see on the pic's .Beef as the same .totally disappointing , the 1.5* - just for the service.....

Tried here tonight for dinner. Not a huge menu but plenty of nice and interesting southern Indian options to choose from.

We ordered a merlot and a kingfisher premium.

Food we ordered the savoury donuts, vegetable kuruma and dosa with mashed potato. The kuruma came with rice.

The food came out quickly and was fresh and clean. Good flavours. We enjoyed the meal but weren't blown away. The korma needed something more to bring out the flavours fuller. A bit more seasoning maybe.

Staff were super friendly and helpful.

I'd definitely return.

I'm not usually a fan of Indian cuisine, but I might just get converted after visiting Kera-la-carte. I had their chicken chattinadu - the sauce was spiced perfectly (not too hot but still has a bit of kick)!

Our table tried the porotta bread.. It was definitely the highlight of our meal. The bread was light and seasoned perfectly with butter and garlic - first time I tried it and I think it's better than naan bread.

For those who are vegetarians, you will be spoilt for vegetarian options in this restaurant!
