The Jasmin Chinese restaurant is truly out of this world! I am a long term fan of this resturaunt since 2006 and they have been serving exotic food for many years. You can find some many excellent traditional dishes there to try, such as chili oil fish and classic dishes, such as duck. The service is excellent and efficient. The quality is wonderful.

I always know that I am going to have a great meal at an excellent price when dining here. My wife and I have been coming here for over three decades and we have never been disappointed. We recently dined here before a game at the Stadium and while other places around town were packed, this hidden jewel was busy without being overrun and the service was very good. It is ever so slightly off the beaten track and that’s something else that is a positive with most people who eat here being repeat business. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favour and give it a go.

Food was amazing, the best Chinese food I have had. Service was exceptional from all the staff. The only issue was other diners unsupervised children running around the restaurant unchecked by their parents. Staff were very helpful moving us to a quieter part of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant for old school food quality and service.

Slow to take orders due to seemingly being understaffed, place was very busy, but once ordered food and drinks came fast and was delicious.

Great food, considerably long waiting time for orders.

This place has been here for more than 40 years. It's still the same but back in the day they used to do buffet. Now the city is so quiet and ingredients are expensive so they can't do it. Sometimes I go there and just dream of the buffet while I eat my à la carte.

This Chinese restaurant has been in the same location for over 25 years, and I simply love it. The decor is simple and basic, but the food is authentic and amazing. We love their regional Chinese specialities. They do offer their Anglicized Chinese versions, too. Generous portions. Definitely value for money. Drinks are reasonably priced. Unpretentious good food and my pick for Chinese in Wellington.

Stayed 2 nights in Wellington with our family of 5, soooo many foid places to choose from but both nights ordered dinner from Jasmin because the service and food were sooo good AAA+ for service and quality of food:)

One of my favourite Chinese restaurants. Every time we couldn’t skip fried rice for the order. Tastes authentic

Excellent food and service. So glad we went to this little restaurant tonight. The sweet n sour pork was incredible.

I've gone to this Chinese restaurant twice and had fried rice with shrimp in both occasions. It tastes fresh and delicious. Friendly service too!

One of the best dried fried rice noodles (hor fun) I've had in Wellington

Absolutely amazing place to go for dinner! The staff were amazing and so friendly and the food was just delicious. It didn't feel too heavy (even after 3 mains, 3 appetizers and 2 desserts between 2 people) and it is because the quality of food was perfect. 41 years this restaurant has been opened and it took me 27 years to finally try it. Wish I had gone sooner!! Definitely our new go to restaurant

I've come to really enjoy eating at this restaurant. Staff are really friendly, prompt & attentive at the right times. Massive variety of meals and reasonable prices. In a group or on your own, it's a good spot to park up & have a feed!

Fresh ingredients, Hong Kong cook, taste top notch. Of course price is on the high side, but definitely value for money

With a location quite hard to find, this one offers brilliant Chinese food. We ordered Ion plate beef and roasted chicken. As a Chinese it feels like I'm in China. Nice stuff especially the senior lady.

🦐Chili and Pepper Prawn - The best prawn dish I have ever had in Wellington! Despite the small size, the taste is delicious as heaven! Sweet and a little spicy. Love it!!
🥘Stir Fried Pork - It goes perfectly with rice!! But a little salty. The mushrooms are to savory but all is well cooked.
We will come back soon and maybe try their lunch buffet. Solid 5 stars!

Not easy to find a proper restaurant in the downtown of Wellington. This place is the one I go - by myself or with visitors from overseas. Lunch time buffet is great! They all are freshly cooked and topped up quickly. Love their food as they are not too salty nor oily & no msg.

Highly recommended and you won't regret!

Average buffet Chinese for $17pp at lunch , chicken corn soup, fried rice, honey chicken, sweet and sour, seasoned vegetables, fried noodles, chicken cashews, beef and black bean, peaches, jelly & fruit salad for dessert. We caught the end of lunch service so we weren’t left with much to choose from as most was gone but what we did have was still lovely. I think with only about 8-9 hot dishes to choose from the price is a little expensive but it was still enjoyable.

Walking back to our hotel spotted Jasmine and had to taste the Chinese in New Zealand.

Quiet place with a different ambiance to the Chinese restaurant in India which are sometimes garishly done.

Beef rice, slightly sticky rice with jasmine flavour and tender pieces of beef strips dotted with spring onions.

Chicken soft Noodles. A largish plate with nice soft Noodles decked with slices of spring onions, mushrooms and well cooked chicken.

Service was prompt and efficient.Geeta Mayne

The staff is very skilled to avoid you as a customer. They will let you sit there drink your BYO wine unbothered. The only time the staff will appear and promise that your order is coming, that is if you happen to make an order or when you are about to leave.
I have seen several customers leave tired of endless waiting before they ordered or their order turned up.
They are being not friendly and aggressive when it comes to the payments.
As the result, the worst experience in a long time, if not ever.
Definitely, avoid this place if you have other options.

I can't really comment on the taste of food because have been here for almost an hour ordered a simple dish and a rise almost an hour ago I still have not yet got he food. Above 1 out of 5 stands for the level of service I'm afraid.

I was craving some Chinese food so we decided to give Jasmin a try! Their food is quite decent, we ordered a stir fry and noodles. Customer service is important to me, and unfortunately they werent very friendly or efficient. They were short on wait staff and we waited a long time for the food to arrive.

Jus went here for dinner tonight. The this was the worst resturant ever. The portion size was like they were for stuart little. So they pretty much robbed us of $300.. If your thinking about going here..DONT! But if want to learn the hard way. Bon
Appitite

The best Chinese food we have had since Choy's in Sydney, Australia. Dined on Christmas Eve & as we were staying in Wellington City we weren't sure about where was good. Happened apron this place and was not disappointed. Superb food, attentive service & overall pleasant experience.

Popped in here to grab a quick bite as my first choice was going to take 20 minutes to cook some chow mein, so decided to give Jasmin a try as I have never been, but always knew about the place.Located in the James Cook arcade, I was pleasantly surprised to find a handful of people dining here for dinner.I opted for my chow mein to take away as we had to be somewhere within the hour. The chow mein was much better than I had anticipated, thinking that it would be greasy and fill of cheap rubbish vegetables such as onions etc. The combination chow mein came with a good selection of BBQ Pork, Chicken, Beef and Prawns.Check out my website for an indepth review.

food was good. it just balanced out the service that was given to us. had to ask for water over 5 times. which was quite annoying but otherwise its okay..

I've been here 3 times and their foods never disappoint me.
The prices are affordable and the portions are big.
Their combination fried rice is the most recommended I give, it's tasteful and you got shrimp, chicken, beef, and BBQ pork in it. I also recommend C10 if you like spicy food.
Place is comfortable and quiet, staffs are really nice and welcoming, they'll help you to choose your order.

Good food but they use MSG.

Probably the worst Chinese food in Wellington.

OK I went for a buffet lunch so expectations were never high to start with. However when two thirds of the choices have scraps left over or completely empty it's never a good start. It took at least 25 minutes for more to come out but when you are on a work lunch break that is a very long time to wait.

Quality and flavour of the food was uninspiring and I have no intention of coming back.

I really like the Chinese food here [and I'm Chinese]. My favourite would be the Orange Beef and the dumplings. I've come a few times in the evenings. The only thing negative is that the service can be slow.
Foodie Mallu
Enjoyed a nice lunch buffet here. The food tastes good . But the veg options are limited. I just loved their chicken soup .Will Definitely return to this place.

I pop in here for lunch now and then and its a good place to have a quick work lunch/meeting. They have a nice buffet to choose form with some traditional and some odd combinations ... well worth it and nice food.

I ate there in December, the meals were very nice and to a high standard, it was not busy when we got there - service was excellent, staff talked to us and they are friendly, nice Chinese beer.

We've eaten here many times over the last couple of years and have found on the last two occasions standards have really gone downhill.

Being only one third full on a Friday night didn't stop the long wait for meals and the staff being surly. When the prawn chow mein arrived it was almost inedible, consisting mainly of cabbage and packet dried noodles. Another prawn dish was so over cooked, teeth bounced off the prawns!

Nobody asked why we left our food and the waitress was in such a rush to take our money and get us out the door, sighing and tutting all the while, we didn't bother to complain. We just won't go back............
