Review Bebemos - Wellington

This establishment is the epitome of a cool spot for refreshment. It boasts an extensive selection of diverse drinks, from steaming hot beverages to refreshing cold ones. Moreover, they also offer delicious meals. I can't wait to return and explore their other enticing menus. It's a definite must-visit for any beverage and food enthusiast! Opps! Cigarettes Smoking is everywhere in here. That's why i gave 3 stars for the atmosphere. That's the reason we take out our orders.

Been here a couple times, love love love the vegan Burger here. Burrito is pretty solid as well! It's always warm, even if you're sitting outside! Great dog friendly place too!

LOVE the options of vegan and non vegan food options Bebemos have! The food was super yummy me and my partner were both happy and so as our tummy 😋😋 People are friendly and place has nice relaxing vibe. Would highly recommend 😍

Delicious food at a very good price. Even better, hospital staff get a discount. Thanks so much for a delicious lunch.

We went for the bottomless brunch and it was really excellent. Such great service; drinks came out promptly or we had the option of just going to the bar for a refill. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to make our visit special. The food was very tasty too, with good-sized portions. Although I don't live in Newtown, I'll definitely be making the trip to visit again.

Good food, friendly service. A bit noisy but normal for a bar. Good craft beer on tap. Nachos were also good, substantial toppings.

I ordered the feijoada which I really enjoyed. The portion was pretty big, and was struggling to finish it towards the end. Especially because the stew is quite rich. I like that it came with a slice of orange but I wish it came with a bit more orange? Other than that the Bebemos staff were really nice and explained the dish to me. I also ordered one of their mocktails which I loved.

We took the kids down for lunch, luckily before it got busy. Plenty of great kids options, so they are keen to come back again. And next time, they might be able to count all the flamingoes in the separator. Special mention for the Toastie Takeover. Deep fried haloumi is a brilliant idea. 👍

Lovely visit to this quirky little Cafe/bar. Delicious Fried Chicken and Calamari. Good range of craft beers available. Ask Jade what he recommends or tell him what you like and he'll sort you out. Cheers Jade.

Ate all my meals here over the last 6 days while my fiance and baby boy were at the hospital. These guys are so lovely and always looked after me when I was here. Made for a nice relaxing break. Definitely recommend the fried chicken and the Belinho bowl salad!

I was here for lunch with my husband. We tried WOAP burgers. My husband tried the chicken burger and I tried their vegan option. Both the burgers were of great taste. They were everything you look for in a Burger. Plumpy soft burger buns, flavourful juicy patty, crunchy slaw accompanied with shoestring fries.

I’ve been here twice and I can genuinely say that the food here is super delicious. And the arepas and corn fritter fries are great! I had a breakfast dish the other day with eggs, meat, beans, and sourdough bread (I think) and it was amazing. It’s really affordable too for what you get and the atmosphere is chill and inviting. If you’re in Newtown, this is easily one of the Top 5 places to visit! PS: The Pão de queijo is so good it will make you wanna slap ya mamma!

Great friendly atmosphere for me and my hound ( dog friendly). Good burger, good beer. Checked my vaccine pass and confronted a punter who didn’t read the signage asking people to wait at the entry until pass was checked. Made me feel safe.

We started with the calamari (pic). Opps. We started with Prosecco and a craft beer then we had the calamari. I had the black bean stew (pic) and she had the fish stew (pic) and we were so full that we were pleased that we were walking home. Another local to the list. Enjoy. We did.

Cozy corner restaurant with Brazilian options and a bar. The seafood stew was great. The squid was extremely tender.

Popped in for a quick lunch with my wife. Really great experience - coffee was amazing, food was great and came out pretty quickly (cafe wasn't too busy though), and service was friendly. Great first impression

This is my new local which I'm stoked about! They have awesome craft beer and wine, and really good hearty food. I almost wish I ate meat as the brunch menu is off the hook, but there are also lots of vege options too, the vege burger is amazing, and can be made vegan. My boyfriend loves the gaucho burger. The outside area is really cool, and they have lots of boardgames you can use, so it's nice to park up under the heaters in the covered area out the back, or by the fire inside on those winter nights. I find the staff just so friendly, and they now know what our drinks are, and pour it for us when we walk in, love that. Go Newtown!

Had a great lunch as a group of 4, pork sliders were great. Burger was very juicy and tasty. Halumi salad with fryed kidney beans and tasty tasty dressing.
I had Brazil's national dish, this is slow cooked black beans, pork hock, beef and sausage(chorizo ?) Served with rice. The flavours were superbly balanced and authentic.
Service was friendly and the beer knowledge of the staff was excellent.
11 beers on tap all kraft brewed, they are changed regularly. I had a West coast IPA.
Would recommend as a good all round venue.

Was looking for somewhere new for lunch and we saw the menu Bebemos online; it sounded very nice.

Cool place, great décor and cool vibe.
The tables are quite close so it’s a bit tight squeezing in between them.

I’d had a large breakfast so wasn’t feeling hungry at all. I found it hard to choose something off the menu because of this.

Eventually I ordered the veggie breakfast minus the eggs. My partner ordered the veggie burger.
Our order took about 20 minutes (which I was pleased about).

The food arrived and it looked great; and tasted even better. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ate all of it. For someone with little appetite this proves how good it was.

My partner is a real burger fan, and she said the veggie burger was one of the best she’d ever tasted.

When leaving we were already planning our next visit.

Thumbs up yo!

Been here twice, once for brunch where we had the fishcakes and the hash with flat whites, and once for dinner where we had the 2 for 1 Monday special (which was the black bean stew) and tried those höpt sodas. The brunch was really tasty and can't complain about the coffee, the stew was quite spicy so we ended up ordering extra bread to go with it. It seems to be easy to get a table, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. It's a great place for catching up with friends, going on a date, and there's outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.

Great little bar with fabulous tapas and excellent customer service. Highly recommend the empanadas and the meatballs, however we thought the fish goujons were a little bland. The Gaucho burger is great if you don't mind a little heat.

Gaucho burger 10/10 TAKE THE TIME! Easy, quality, good brews and not too hipster! Also try the Brazilian black bean dish.. Fedakonda??! A+++

Really enjoyed the meal. Very interesting menu and hard to choose. Went for sizzling steak and prawns with a massive chillies. Fantastic with the sauces. If you can't find a beer you like - you don't like beer. The beer menu is bigger than the food menu. Service great and they make you feel like a regular on your first night. Will be back.

Really nice pub, excellent customer service. They do these awesome little cheese ball things and these other little things (I cant remember the name of) which also contain cheese.

Nice outdoor area as well. Has a safe, homely feel about it.

In the evenings, especially at weekends, this place pumps. Loud, chaotic, no seats and high decibel conversations. A quieter outside area can be cold in winter except next to the gas heater. Promoted as a craft beer bar with a South American theme it plays on two currently fashionable bits of beer/food culture... And it seems to be successful.

I think the craft beer side is ok - but I must confess there are probably too many microbreweries producing similar products - apa/ipa, some with too many hops. It's unquestionable that flavoured beers are popular and some are very clever, but there is more to the world of beer than these. Where are the imperial stouts and barley wines, geuze and other sours, the wheat beers etc. I have to confess I struggled to find something really interesting at bebemos and couldn't compare it in any way with hashigo zaki. On the Friday evening I simply opted for red wine - it was more warming in the outside area than anything else bar whisky.

I returned a few Saturday's later in the morning at about 11. It was dead. It felt like all bars the morning after, and the guy behind the bar looked the part. Despite proclaiming that he hated coffee culture he managed to come up with the best trim caps of the week-although one needed two goes to make it to the table intact.
I ordered a black bean cassoulet on toast and got a black bean quesadilla. Somewhere between my accent and his Glaswegian we were lost in translation. It was delicious.

When we left we were happy, full and amused - what else would you want ? Sure the coffee hiccuped but it was great and sure I got what I didn't order but it was delicious. You could argue that all that deserves a bad review but the reason why I gave it a four is because it was all good food and the service was delightfully different. He had personality in spades, and at the end of the day that overcame any problems we had. He was a rough cut gem.

I'd recommend bebemos if he's there. In the evening I'd go early to get a seat. Forget it as a date night or somewhere to take parents but it would be good for a noisy group as long as there wasn't any serious conversation to be had. I'd suggest being brave with food - they have burgers and fries and nachos of course but go for some of the other interesting stuff - quesadilla? - but maybe write it down for them.

A friend and I went here the other night for dinner. As it was very busy it was difficult to see if we could get a table and when we asked the bar staff about this we were initially ignored but eventually shown to a table. Here it was difficult to read the menu because of the dim light so we used the torches on our phones.

We decided to order the feijoada and the sizzling grill. We had told the staff that we were sharing the meals however they didn't give us any side plates or enough cutlery for two people. The food itself was nice enough but it was a little bland. This is probably the style of the food so perhaps take that with a grain of salt. On the whole the experience was ok but the service could have been a bit more onto it. I would come back for the sangria though.

Went for a party so really only had the platters but this was coming thick and fast and was pretty well made for simple bar nibbles, not just the regular deep fried stuff from bars that you sometimes expect but prawn and vege skewers and stuff like that. Awesome! pretty amazing range of beer and cider and friendly staff. Good stuff.

I've been here for dinner a few times now and it's good! Wine list and beer selection are broader than you'd think for a place of this size. I was happy to see my favourite boysencider on the list. Last night the sizzling steaks were all around the room. My group stuck with the big beef stew and it was great. Enjoy.

Bebemos is a really busy bar/restaurant in Newtown, it's great to be able to go somewhere near home and still have good quality. Gone are the days of needing to trek to town to have a drink in a spot with a cool vibe! Great outdoor area, awesome beers on tap, and friendly knowledgable staff. The South American food is really tasty with some authentic dishes, Ive been here a few times now and love their feijoada plus the small plates to share. Tudo bem!

As a Newtown resident, Bebemos has been a great local for us, with it's large range of craft beer and lovely food. We've been a few times and had good experiences (although the staff have never been too friendly), however the last time we went we were hugely disappointed. It was a Thursday night, not too busy and we ordered two burgers at the bar. 45 minutes later they had still not arrived, we asked at the bar and were told that their printer had broken so the kitchen had not received our order (what happened to good old face to face communication?). The guy apologised and went to sort it out in the kitchen. Another 20minutes later, the food arrived, the guy apologised and took our table number away. We had been sat there over an hour with a table number and no cutlery had been delivered to us. So we had to go up to the bar and ask for it. We received no free drink or anything as an apology, and the fact that we had been sat waiting for so long when there were barely any other customers just gives the impression the staff are just not that bothered. The food was good overall, however the fries were not up to the standard they normally are. We were very disappointed and probably will not be going back anytime soon after the poor service we received.

Had booked a table for 8 for Easter Saturday. Service was good and food was excellent - there was something for everyone, even though at first sight the menu looks limited, most dishes included a fish and a vegetarian option.

Reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere.

Will definitely go there again!

Went with the wife somewhere different, great atmosphere a lively little joint, I had the marinated fresh fish followed by the steak, both were exquisite, the wife had the chips and the Colombian salad, both of which she enjoyed, the beer menu outstanding, all in all a great meal at a great price.

I have been meaning to write a review for here for ages - I don't normally do it, as with some exceptions it seems to be a way of venting but as this is my local I thought I would write about it. I have been coming here since I moved to Newtown 3 months ago and my flatmates and I loved it from the start. The range of beers is incredible and always changing too, there is always something good on tap. My flatmate highly approves of the wine list and the cheap cocktails too. Every time I come here (once a week at least?) the vibe is inviting, with good music, really friendly staff that really know their stuff about beer, and the food is awesome! There is pretty much some kind of comfort food for everyone - choose the right one for you and you wont be disappointed. I hope their summer menu which is apparently coming out soon keeps some of the favourites on! They have live music sometimes too which is well worth checking out if you are up for a dance! Highly recommend it!

A largel group of us went tonight. Large groups are always a challenge but the staff coped very well, were helpful, organized, friendly and the meals came in good time. The "small plates" were a very good size, very tasty and came out quickly. The mains were very good tho a couple of people weren't too keen on the burger.
The steak, presented on a hot plate, was excellent. Very good quality, good generous size.
There is an excellent range of craft beers and I enjoyed the Scott Base red from a barrel.
A very good price and a great night.

Went there last night to meet friends, but was only drinking soda water because I was driving - $4.50 for a soda water! You've got be kidding!
The food was alright but nothing great. The deep fried cheese balls were over done and tasted gritty.

Sorry for my English. On the 22 May I went to Bebemos and asked for some take away. As I was looking at the menu, I was chatting with one of the waitresses and told her I was from Brazil. I ordered the feijoada and cheese bread or pao de queijo. Let me tell you if you looking for traditional Brazilian food don't go there the food is an insult to my ancestors specially the feijoada.
Was just some beans cooked with loads of salt and a lot of dry meat, I felt insulted even in the worst place back home I would find better food. The rice was so overcooked with loads of black pepper, embarrassing for me seeing that that place doesn't make an effort to show case simple culturally meaningful food. The cheese bread, how do I begin, was fried raw pastry which tells me they have no idea about Brazilian food. Cheese bread is baked and the pastry made with hot cooking oil and milk to cook it before baking. I got the order, went to my car and when I saw the food I returned and asked if they knew how to cook basic Brazilian food, she said they couldn't cook properly because of the lack of ingredients which is not true. She suggested that if I was unhappy to open my own restaurant. Never wasting my money there again.

The food here is delicious, although very salty. Our table had the beef and seafood from the Brazilian Grill, 6 different starters and the Gaoucho burger.

The cheese puffs are divine, the skewers are delicious, the fries and the beans were very salty, almost inedible.

What lets this place down is the service. Very friendly but basically a bit inept. It took half an hour for us to get our menus. The meals arrived in an ok amount of time but paying was a nightmare. The cashier had no idea how to use the till and couldn't seem to do simple arithmetic, took us about 15 minutes to pay.

That said, we had a really enjoyable evening, and I would definately come back as the food is delicious.

What a cool little place! Wine on tap was a bit of a novelty and we lucked out on going in on a thursday - they've got two tap wines for only $12, and its actually very good wine. Normally about $10 per glass. Good beers on tap too, and the fridges looked very interesting. Heaps of beer. The food was amazing, we loved it and were stuffed by the end. Friendly service, more bar service than restaurant though. The guy knew a lot about beer! We were greeted and seated when we arrived, but we decided to sit more in the bar area so we just went up when we were ready to order. One of the best vege burgers Ive tried, plus great Latin tunes were on which added to the atmos, but peppered with some classics which broke it up nicely. Will return on a Weds for their cider day!

Ever since the brilliant Chilean restaurant 'Amigos' disappeared from Newtown, we've been keeping an eye out for any new South American restaurants so we decided to book a table at Bebemos. We walked in, the young woman behind the bar saw us, but looked away. We continued to stand around, unsure if we should just look for a table with a 'Reserved' sign on it, or tell someone we've arrived. No-one acknowledged us, so we walked over to the bar and announced our booking to a helpful young chap who actually made eye contact and physically showed us to the table. The young woman who had ignored us trotted out with menus. We chose the burgers and garlic fries with a beer and a Coke - all up, about $50. Food and atmosphere: average. Service: the waiting time between ordering and receiving our meals was short, so top marks for that. Unfortunately, the unsmiling, brisk and businesslike cashier who rang up our bill (and avoided eye contact) provided the disappointing finishing touch to our evening. What is wrong with some of our hospo staff in Wellington?
