Review Daruma Sushi-go-round Cuba - Wellington

How awesome was this dining experience. To say we sampled would be an understatement. We loved every bit of it. 21 plates we tried between us and it was delicious. It’s not a fine dining experience but this sushi 🍣 train 🚂 was definitely an amazing experience. Great service. Delicious food. Clean restaurant. Car parks close by and a cool kids menu. Give this one a go for sure 🙌

Loved it. Kazu has the best sushi in Wellington. It's fun watching all the seafood go around and around on the moving tray in the centre of the restaurant. Just pick out what looks the most yum, which can be difficult, because it all looks delicious. The smoked kingfisher is excellent, and they make some lovely fried dumplings. And I can't say no to spring rolls. Nice range of non alcoholic ciders too. Friendly customer service and a chill atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Nice, easy, convenient. Chicken katsu mightve been a little overcooked but was still yum overall, satisfied my craving of curry udon and the sushi was fine 👍

Brilliant place for a quick eat and perfect for my two vegetarian kids... the tuna was delicious... infact everything was so yummy. Definitely recommend for a quick dinner with full bellys after. Loved it so much! My kids can't wait to go back.

Keep coming back here! The sushi train is so tempting and delicious. Great solution for delicious, quick lunch with no hustle. It is strategically located in Cuba st. The place is not so big but can decently accomodate 20ish people. You can get a variety of sushi here, with salmon, beef, chicken, tuna, and vegetarian choices as well. It has Udon, ramen and miso soup. They also provide tempura, tiramisu, cream puff and various Japanese cider. They also have kids’ menu.

What a fun way to have sushi! The quality of sushi is totally different from picking up pre-made ones. These sushi plates are freshly made so the rice is soft and warm. The rice is especially made well so when you pick up a piece with your chopsticks and dip it in soy sauce, it doesn't break apart.

Absolutely love this place!!! A great selection of fresh raw seafood, as well as cooked foods. My favourites... salmon roe, Kingfish, whole baby squid, scallops...all raw of course. My friend ordered the beef ramen noodles, very tasty she said. Next time I will try their matcha pudding drink, it looks interesting. The food is all served on little coloured plates...on a conveyor belt, known as a sushi train. We spent $130. for 2 very hungry adults. Quality Japanese food is never cheap...it was all worth it. Did I tell you, that I absolutely love this place!!! 😍

It’s hard to complain about a place where the food literally appears before your eyes. The sushi is good. The fish is fresh and the rice portions are kept in perspective ie not gigantic. Tiramisu is a little out of character but probably loved by many.

You guys. It's really good and, in these days of costly everything, a 4 peice plate of yummy spicy chicken roll was $4.90. Ditto seared Kingfish sushi and seared wasabi salmon. I didn't eat much more because we are eating tonight (we enjoy a catch up and hang out!). But. So worth it! Very tasty! They have some incongruously expensive Japanese soda, possibly because they import it from Japan. But it looked interesting so I might try it for $6.90 if I'm thirstier next time! Bowls of Wagyu Ramen are on offer and other menu items on top of sushi train offerings. There's a small vegetarian section. Some sauces are listed as homemade. Everything is dewy-fresh, and practically haloed it's so beautiful. My tummy is so happy.

Really good range of good quality sushi. Regular variation of what's on offer too which makes each visit a new experience. Ramen, Udon etc also available is delicious and very reasonably priced. I have spent a decent amount of time in Japan and I can say for a fact that the staff make it an authentic experience with their hospitality. Some of the plates on the train can be a wee bit on the expensive side but otherwise a really good wee sushi train.

Great service, reasonable prices and delicious food. I've taken family and friends here many times and it's always great, big fan. Thanks guys.

Visited this place while we are at Wellington. I'm so thrilled to see salmon skin on the sushi belt. It's one of my favorite which I can't get in Auckland sushi train. Sadly the skin is so salty but the green tea dessert is yum! It's a good place to dine in to catch out with friends .

I'm glad to be back to have my sushi/sashimi fix. They actually have more choices here which are authentic and not the familiar ones you see at every street corner sushi outlets. One has to be more adventurous and get out of what's familiar, for there's no other way to discover what you've been missing. I enjoyed their Lotus root chips, tuna, eel, and yes, kina (sea urchin) sashimi! I was worried they didn't have the kina since it was not on the carousel, but the staff said it could be prepared upon request. Yum! It's just a bit disappointing they did not have fresh oysters yesterday. The place is very clean with a nice ambiance, and the staff, as always, are really nice and accommodating. Will definitely keep coming back.

We came here for the sushi train but there weren't many known choices, no salmon avocado or avocado or tuna etc everything had roe on it or was unfamiliar so we were hesitant to try much and what we did try wasn't life changing.

My sister was in town from New Plymouth with my niece and nephew. They really wanted to go to a sushi train.

I wasn't aware of one until we looked into it and found Wasabi Sushi on Cuba. On arrival I can see why too, it’s very unassuming. It's only really once you enter you realise it's there.

We all ordered miso soup.

The 'train' is fun. A continuous stream of dishes, regularly refreshed by the sushi chefs. A reasonable selection on offer. The kids loved it.

The plates clearly identify the price is you reference the poster on the wall.

The sushi itself was good too. Fresh, plentiful and enjoyable.

For two adults and two kids it came to $55.00

The train adds a nice dimension to the experience, rather than the usual lunchtime plastic containers you take back to work and eat at your desk. I'll go again for sure.

It is my first time to try sushi train in Wellington. Very good place! We love it and certainly will return here! Sushi are very fresh and the staffs are very friendly! Seafood ramen is a good choice!

Underwhelming is probably the only word I can use to describe this place. I came in for dinner having seen that the restaurant was almost at full capacity - surely the sushi must be good! Wrong. The plates on the train were poorly constructed, with the slices of fish half hanging off the rice and the rolls themselves not holding together. The sushi just didn't taste fresh. This was rather disppointing given they don't price themselves as a budget sushi train.

Loved it here :) first time having a sushi train. Great variety, very very fresh !!! Certainly coming back again ! Friendly staff ! Did not have to wait for any
Seats which was good as you cannot book first
Fantastic fresh sushi. Heaps of variety in the sushi train and reasonably priced. Friendly service. It would get a higher rating from me if they slightly expanded their drink menu.

Probably the best sushi train in Wellington, everything is always pretty fresh, I eat here a lot for lunch, the staff are always very friendly and quick to seat you and get you a drink.

Monthly specials always make sure you don't get bored of the regular sushi.

Not as cheap as some of the takeaway sushi places such as St Pierres but the quality is ten times better!

Great value, fresh fish, always satisfies.
Connie
Such a cute place! Yummy sushi and friendly service. A very nice range of fresh sushi, all served on conveyer belt.

This is by far the best Sushi Train in Wellington. The sushi is always perfect and there is such attention to detail which is great to see. Prices are very reasonable for what you get and I will definitely be back!

Absolutely brilliant! Fantastic service and food to match. The plates come out with every bit of care and attention time after time with consistent portions. There is enough variety to satisfy all types of patrons - give it a try if you haven't. An experience not to be missed.

Best sushi restaurant in Wellington in my opinion. Staff are courteous, friendly and quick to respond. The food here seems more fresh than other similar sushi restaurants plus there's a greater variety. I'm vegetarian and there's usually at least 5 options that i can eat (not including seaweed salad). Items are reasonably priced plus they often have specials to mix it up a bit. I really love this place and go 2-3 times a month.

I come here a lot and always get great service and delicious food. The teriyaki chicken, edamame and seaweed salad are lovely. Lots of different options, especially for a friend who doesn't much like sushi but loves tempura, dumplings etc. Great value for money.

Have been here a few times, always friendly clean and tasty. More variety than other Sushi train restaurants; it can be a drag having five options endlessly repeated at other Sushi places. Well priced too.

Really great little place, the staff are always friendly and polite. The food is fresh and tasty - I particularly enjoyed the soft shell crab. In terms of pricing it is good value for money. Testament to a great little restaurant is the fact that it is always busy with customers. Would highly recommend for a quick and casual sushi fix.

LOVE this place. Such great service, they always greet you in Japanese when you arrive and leave. Good variety of Japanese dishes, their tuna/avocado mini sushi is so yummy. Always feel very welcome here and leave feeling satisfied, especially with the cheap price!
Kat
Been here many times before and i've always left satisfied. Great food and great customer service. Whenever I visit I always like to start off with a wee bowl of miso soup then i'll grap afew plates of sushi and finish off with a wee jug of hot sake. Very seldom do I see Wasabi empty it's always packed. Would recommend to anyone looking for a sushi fix and particularly people that are looking for freshly made sushi.

Sunday night in Wellington and I needed a Sushi fix. I had passed this little Gem the previous night and also that afternoon, so had reminded my brain that what I needed was Sushi! The food is exceptional and even caters for the little Miss with a Kids box - lollipop and drink included for $5.50. I also required the deep fried Squid to take with my Sushi, Edamame, Seaweed salad and Ignari. The staff were very professional, helpful and attentive. When visiting Wellington next I will go to the restaurant as recommended by the happy and chatty NZ staff member working there. I like the Sushi train system and would definitely recommend you visit if in Wellington.
