Review Delhi 7 Indian Restaurant And Bar - Wellington

Last week I visited this place, being a tourist in northland I was sceptical about this place. However, the experience was pretty good. The service delivery was on point. The atmosphere was amicable and pleasant. But the delicious food was the highlight of this place. Special mention to the Sizzler and Butter Chicken, it was the best I have ever had. Being an Indian it’s very difficult to find a place which can give me the taste of home, but this place just felt like home in taste and in environment. So glad to come across this place. strongly recommending.

A foray into suburban curry holes was proceeded with a level of skepticism from the attendees. Online reviews painted an image of a former neighbourhood stalwart with slipping standards. Missing rice, byo seasonings, and missing flavour. A friend took charge of ordering a unique combination of mains. The inclusion of a prawn saag drew raised eyebrows from the table but was balanced by a safe Rogan Josh, chicken badam pasanda and a special dish: the bullet chicken rajdhani. The latter was the first to come To the table - firmly ablaze and noisily sizzling much to the surprise and delight of the attendees. Such theatre has yet to be seen, perhaps never will be again. The food was thoroughly enjoyed by all. well prepared, seasoned and spiced across the board. The prawn saag was testament to our friend’s free wheeling approach to Indian cuisine, and we were rewarded handsomely for his reckless abandon. With expectations on Delhi 7 mixed at best, it delivered strongly and will be noted as one of the better options in Wellington.

Great place for the locals and tourists as well. We were 6 people and everyone loved everything we ordered. Especially chicken Tikka masala and appetizers. Atmosphere was amazing and the service was also excellent. I recommend Delhi7 Indian restaurant and bar Northland at any time.

Another awesome night at delhi7 restaurant in Northland. Consistently great food and always amazing service. Always extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend Delhi7 restaurant and bar.

Excellent service, short wait times but enough time between entrees and mains. Food was absolutely amazing, very delicious. 5 adults with 5 seperate dishes all felt it was the best version we had tasted of the curries we chose. A little on the pricier end, but you get what you pay for - top service and top food.

Excellent Menu choices. Always really well prepared. Medium is generally enough for us. But you can get to your choice. Has range of wines and beers. Service is excellent and respectful. A couple of favourites. Korma is good. Bhuna is also good. 5 Stars for these guys.

Good service, Great array of dishes to order. Food was out in good time, hot and very delicious, picky eaters were very pleased. Heat levels were spot on.

Excellent service and a superb selection of finely prepared Indian dishes. The standard of cooking here is very high, a reasonable selection of overseas and New Beers and wines is available as well as the option to order the food to take away. Not your usual destination for restaurants ( unless you want fish and chips, pizza or burgers) Northland benefits from this excellent little restaurant. Try their Delhi 7 specials / I especially enjoyed their “Bullet Chicken” served flaming on a cast iron plate. The Garlic Naan is superb!

Easily the best Indian me and my partner have ever had. The food is amazing and plentiful. The staff is some of the friendliest and courteous that I've seen in a restaurant. Plenty of options, even for the awkward members of a group. Layout is good, and we found it easy to talk - it's wasn't loud inside.

I'd have to say the best curry in Wellington. Good to eat in, or takeout.

Sought this place out because of the reviews, and it didn't disappoint. Food took a long time to come out, but that was because we took too long to order and had probably lost our place behind all the others who'd since filed in after us. Food was delicious, as expected. The value (price vs. portion size) wasn't amazing, but it was enough to have us leave satisfied. Would go back.

Last supper before the Lock down. We've been living in Northland for 2 years and this is our first visit to this place. Finally, a kiwi curry house that does "Indian hot" properly. Had an outstanding Hot Chicken Madras, an awesome Mild Madras and the butter chicken was fab too. 3 empty plates. We'll definitely be visiting post lock down. Stay safe New Zealand and dream of your next curry from these guys.

We adore this restaurant! The flavours are always on point and great quality. Lovely staff and a cosy vibe. Our favourite local.

Friendly and welcoming staff, very good service. Great Indian food, good portion size, would definitely come again. Toilets smelt great as well as added bonus. Has a kids area as well for those with kids!

Their meals are like a cosy warm sweatshirt on a cold Wellington day: trusty, good for the soul, and makes you feel nice and warm inside. I come here for their chicken korma regularly, and every time it is genuinely made, not oily, and tastes so fine. I highly recommend this place

This is the best indian restaurant i've been to in a very long time. Whenever I want Indian i will always go here, and when ever i get asked which Indian place is best to go to I always suggest delhi7 and they go there and love it! I've sat in once and it was a very pleasant experience, lovley staff, and nicely presented food. I usually get a take away. Food is always fresh and meat cooked beautifully. Thanks Delhi7!!

Visited last night for the first time with my team. Even though it was very busy we received great service.  The food was outstanding best Indian.  Would definitely recommend to my friends.

1.0 is quite a generous review for this place. Just visited 20 minutes ago and had to walk out because of the attitude of the manager ! The restaurent was completely empty and it was just 2 of us ..... we were told we could only sit on a table for 2 which was completely fine with us<br/> But that seat was very close to the door and hence I asked the manager to move us as it was so cold ! To this he said he can only make us sit in any of the table for 2s which were shoved right in the corner of the restaurent! <br/>Few minutes later 3 people walk in and the manager gladly offered them a seat for 4 for 3 people ! We completely understand if the restaurent is busy we wouldn't demand anytging !! <br/>This was completely unacceptable .! You cannot differentiate between two customers ! <br/>I hope the owner reads this and responds back on us !<br/>This was our first visit to this place and wouldn't EVER go back !the manager didn't even apologise and said it was completely ok if we wanted to leave ! <br/>

This is an amazing Indian restaurant, in fact in my opinion, the best indian food in Wellington and I have tried them all!  The service is top class and the food is presented very well.   I recommend the Bullet Chicken dish, which is a Delhi7 special.   The flavours are outstanding.  Go to Delhi7 and support this Northland restaurant!

My friend brought me here for lunch late November ... OMG it is now my fav curry restaurant! and in Northland just through the tunnel from my neighborhood ... who knew?! I have now been back twice! The guys behind the counter make you feel welcome! Totally recommended giving them a go!

One of the best curries I have ever tasted and I eat Indian food every week. The Bullet was exceptional and unique. It is a must for any curry lover. Highly recommended

We get takeaway from here regularly - all their food is amazing, thick gravy and generous servings of meat. Everything tastes fresh, not like it has been sitting in the pot all week like many others. Recommend the Chicken Saagwala and Lamb Badam Pasanda/Korma. Staff are always really friendly as well. Hands down best Indian place in Wellington!

i feel i want to give this place another chance. ordered take away and got huge portions for $30 odd (main, rice and naan each) (enough for a dinner and lunch the next day). My partner ordered the chicken masala, which he loves and eats there once a week. I ordered the lamb shabnam as id never tried it before. The dish was OK, the flavors were just not for me. I also asked for Indian hot and i got kiwi hot. will eat here again and order a vindaloo.

Food is amazing. I've been here many times, usually for take away and I've never had better Indian food. I've started dining in recently and their service and friendliness is second to none. I feel like a king when I dine, with the food to suite.

26/10/15: very highly recommended<br/><br/>I've just had the best North Indian meal outside of India. It's been a long time coming but delhi7 is the harbinger of something good for the image of Indian gastronomy. It's not perfect but it's a paradigm shift. <br/><br/>I am fed up of receiving stainless steel coupes full of "gravy" and a few bits of meat. I'm fed up of the coupes all looking the same shade of brown. <br/><br/>My advice is simple - look at the delhi7 special dishes (definitely the bullet chicken) and ask the staff what to choose - <br/><br/>Just ask them to bring what is suitable / good.<br/><br/>Above all don't choose anything that you've had before and are only choosing because you recognise the name.<br/><br/>We had the "bullet chicken", gosht e lal quila and Delhi rose garden between two. It involved a bit of a wait but kingfisher strong and complementary wafer thin cumin scented papad passed the time. Each of the dishes was excellent, colourful, and unlike any thing I've had in NZ. It was more like India than northland. It was simply delicious.<br/><br/>A steady stream of takeaway orders demonstrated that many others had already sussed out the quality. <br/><br/>If you are a fan of Indian food Delhi7 is seriously up there - for flavour I thought it was better than london's "best restaurant in Great Britain" , the Indian Gymkhana.<br/><br/>My only quibble is the extent of the menu -at least 100 dishes - better to do fewer really well than too many. Delhi7 has the quality to bring in the punters already without having to cater for every whim. <br/><br/>Service excellent, ambience good.<br/><br/>Very highly recommended<br/>

Fantastic food and service. I've dined here many times and have had a good experience every time. Great vegetarian food. They do vegan and gf on request. Service very pleasant and friendly. Nice place for dine in or takeaway. Just one small point - please make delivery prices obvious on your website!<br/><br/>One of the best Indian restaurants in Wellington. I have dined in once and ordered takeaways several times. Tonight I took advantage of their delivery service. Every one of these meals was delicious. Indian cuisine is great, but at the moment there are too many dreary and average places in Wellington that just go through the motions of providing food that is vaguely recognisable as indian. . Delhi7 is becoming my goto option to avoid a disappointment. The food here is full of flavour, fresh, beautifully presented and has that special aromatic character Indian food buffs love.  As well as that, the portion sizes are generous, the prices reasonable, and the staff couldn't be friendlier or more accomodating. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

The food and service can't be knocked. The takeaway prices are outstanding and the staff always greet you with a smile. I'm yet to have a bad experience here, and doubt that I will.

I don't do reviews but I have been going here for the last 6 months and the service has been awesome since day 1 and hopefully more people can enjoy the experience. The food is great - alot better than any of the other Indian restaurants I have been to (not to name names but Newtown, Karori and the many places in town.) Portion sizes are large also. Have covered alot of the menu and haven't hit a dud item on the menu yet all very tasty and the mixed grill is as a great starter. They serve a decent range of wine and beer including Tuatara. Can't speak highly enough of the restaurant.

For impeccable service and delicious food, you absolutely cannot go past Delhi 7! My partner and I are HUGE Indian food (and culture!) fans and we were both so impressed after our meal that we vowed to come back and support this fantastic restaurant. I would recommend the Non-Veg Mixed Platter for two as an entree and the Prawn Malabari deserves a special mention too.

Four of us dined here last night with three of  the group having bought takeaways previously. The food that we all had was beautiful and plentiful. I hope Northland residents get busy and support this restaurant as it is so nice to have an alternative to pizza, of which we have an overload,together with bad parking problems. Keep it up Delhi 7, we will be back.

One of the best curries I have had. No skimpy bits of meet but good quality, and plenty of it. I have talked this place up to all my friends and we went as a group and all agreed it lived up to and surpassed my praise. Would highly recommend, fantastic service!!!

We've gad dinner here four times this year, it's so tasty! Really excellent service, with staff who really seem to care that you enjoy your meal and service. The food is also excellent. Lovely to go for a meal any night of the week. Would give it six stars if I could.

We both thought that Delhi 7 was superb. Great food, great service. And good to see some "non standard" dishes on an Indian restaurant menu. We couldn't understand why were we one of only two couples in the restaurant on a Saturday night though. The takeaway seemed much busier, so we hope business is going well:-) We'll carry on supporting you Delhi 7!

We visited this restaurant 13/4/14. and really enjoyed our time there. The food was fabulous . Beautifully cooked, well presented and very fresh.<br/>We were treated extremely well by our waiter who was friendly and professional.<br/>The restaurant is beautiful and very clean.<br/>We will return and recommend it to all of you who love Indian food.

Fantastic food! We regularly order takeaways from Delhi7 - friendly service, great price and wonderful food...what more could you ask for? The restaurant is still relatively new but continues to refine its offering. $12 takeaway option that includes naan is great value.

Excellent, with stars! I have waited 4 visits to write this review and can confirm the quality of the food is consistently great. We are yet to dine in (takeaway only this far) however I know the standard would be the same or, if possible, better straight from the kitchen. So fresh, perfectly balanced. I cannot fault it.<br/><br/>Absolutely a must try, I would dare say the best Indian food in Wellington. 10/10

Wonderful culinary experience. My family and I enjoyed our time at this restaurant and would recommend to everyone. <br/>I would highly recommend ordering the Bullet Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. It is great to see that there is also the option of a Children's Menu.
