Review Sushi Bi - Wellington

Abbie
I love their aburi salmon nigiri sushi - it's my favourite and I will always grab a couple pieces from here for a good feed. Also, the self-service makes it super quick & easy.

After a glitch of trying to order online, this was solved, we were offered a discount and then our work group enjoyed fantastic top quality sushi, beautifully presented and delivered to our picnic. Sushi B - highly recommended for parties, catering, group events and team feasts.

As a former sushi chef I was very impressed! There is a huge range of interesting sushi that you don’t usually see. The sushi tasted delicious and fresh.

I love this sushi place. Whenever we are in Wellington we go to Sushi Bi. Sushi is really good and really reasonably priced. I have always found the staff to be super friendly. The pieces are well made, fresh and of a good size. I would thoroughly recommend.

Best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve ate a lot of sushi. I live in Melbourne now can you ship some to me (the chicken teriyaki one with avocado on the outside) miss you guys!!

Was walking past and decided to join the queue for 50% sushi (after 4pm) .Was surprised to see they were actually still making them fresh rather than it being just the leftovers from the day. The Sushi was really delicious! The flavors were nice and it was really fresh. Can't wait to go again!

Absolutely spot on as per! I visit Wellington from Hawkes Bay now & again and ALWAYS head to Sushi Bi ASAP.

This is my number one sushi place for an on the go lunch. It's a self service sushi buffet really, with only two bar stools, so you select what you want and get out. I probably eat here three times a week. A large selection of fresh, delicious sushi is on offer, including house favourite seared salmon. Other items too, like salmon or tofu miso. Friendly, happy staff joking and chatting as they work, a fast turnaround of customers and reasonable prices. Head there near the end of the day for half price everything - you can absolutely fill your belly to bursting for less than ten dollars. They have a decent loyalty card too, with every $5 getting you a stamp. The tenth stamp gets you about $10 off, so if you eat there regularly like I do, it's a free meal every week or two. Absolutely, definitely getting a 5 star from me.

Best sushi in the city so far

Sushi B is that delectable western sushi when you don't want real sushi, but it's still really yum! Their seared salmon with teriyaki sauce seems to be an old favourite because it dominates their cabinets. Friendly staff of course. And it's always busy!

Tasty sushi, friendly staff and $5 end of day specials (prepacked selection), great for picking up dinner after work. I chose a pack with lots of teriyaki salmon nigiri, seaweed and chicken maki. All delicious, especially the salmon. The shop is small, but it looks to cater to workers, not for dine-in patrons.

This is my favorite sushi place in Wellington. They have a wide selection and are constantly topping up the sushi so you never miss out on your favorites. I love how they do half price after 4pm.

Best sushi in town. You can mix and match, self serve. After 2pm all sushi is half price. After 5pm all remaining sushi is sold at even lower price.
Moni
Best sushi I’ve probably ever had. Very nice people, they even apologized for not having a wide vegetarian sushi range at the moment (which was still wider than at most sushi places).
Melissa May
Best sushi I have found in Wellington. It is always so fresh and staff are friendly. I always love going after 4 pm for half price.
Kat Petra
One of my favourite sushi places in Wellington. Lots of selection, with great vegetarian options. Tiny shop with no seating, but the staff are very efficient.

Simply the best sushi in Wellington, always super fresh and well priced. Always a queue to get in.

Amazing service, amazing staff and the best sushi
Bopnbeep
A fresh and vibrant dispay of sushi options that all look delicious. The salmon is very fresh and they are generous with the fillings. We came on the weekend so didn't have to battle the weekday queues. Midland sushi is probably still my favourite however Sushi Bi is not far behind.

My absolute favorite sushi place! Everything is so fresh! The variety is amazing! every time I go I try to choose things that I’ve never tried before and so far there is t one thing that I didn’t like! Probably the best thing about it is when everything is half price! a few days ago, me and a friend went for a late lunch and we payed less than $10 dollars for both of the meals in the picture below! We could barely finish it! amazing deal!

Hands down the best tasting AND best value sushi in Wellington! Even if you're in before the 4pm price slash.

I especially enjoy their takoyaki.

My absolute favorite place for sushi. So much choice and they aren't stingy on the ginger. The BBQ'd salmon nigiri is one if the best things I've ever put in my mouth. I've tried many a sushi joint in the cbd and nothing comes close.
I Love Food
Probably the best takeaway sushi I've found in Wellington (especially when you go after 4pm and get it half price!) they're constantly bringing out fresh sushi and lines are out the door. Obviously a very popular place. I've bought sushi from here many times over the years and never disappoints!

January 2011 I moved to Wellington and started my first job on the Terrace. My colleagues recommended Sushi Bi as 'the best sushi in Wellington'.

I tried, it, I loved it... it definitely lived up to the hype – I became a frequent visitor. What I also liked was the half price sushi deals at the end of the day - which made for a cheap evening meal.

Fast forward to now and there are many more food options in the area including other sushi outlets. It's been a while since I visited. The queues aren't as big but I found it to be as consistently tasty and fresh as ever. I did feel they didn't have as wide a variety available as some other places, but that could have been when I visited.

I really enjoyed the sushi and look forward to returning soon.

The only bad thing about this place is that the queue outside is almost always long and the Wellington weather is hardly supportive. But the long queues also mean this place does great sushi for a reasonable price. It really does. The variety is large too. Definitely recommended.

Pretty good selection and the queues also show that this is not a bad place to have a bite of sushi. The place is small so be prepared for squeezing in around people and then following the orderly line until you pop back out the door.... but that doesn't really matter - adds to the excitement. The sushi is pretty good, there is a bit of that drown each piece in sauce which I don't personally like (check out the photos and you will see what I mean) but overall, I would come back and I think that's saying something considering there are literally another six or more outlets within two blocks.

Love sushi bi!!!!! Favourite place to get lunch and love the half price after four!!! $3 for a delicious dinner. Favourite is the mushroom sushi and salmon miso soup

The line to get into heaven is long, but it's sure as hell worth the wait.

I love this place, best value for money and fresh quality sushi. Took my friends there from Auckland and they were shocked at the size and value compared to the over priced sushi in Auckland. The only thing I dislike about the place are the customers who take their sweet time choosing sushi like if they are the only people in the shop! Look behind ya, there's a queue a mile long...chop, chop!
Connor Finlayson
Very good Sushi. Portions are a lot bigger than other sushi places and the prices are reasonable.

Affordable & yummy sushi!

Found this shop by chance while working along the streets on Wellington. Really worth the money!

Read more about our review here at http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2013/09/wellington-central-sushi-bi.html

:D

This place never fails to BLOW MY MIND - not bad for a 2 year loyal custom. Reveals St. Pierre's as the miserable, stinky sushi that it really is. Portions are crazy big, Salmon is always fresher than fresh melt in your mouth. Did I mention value for money is surpassed by no other. After 4pm all sushi (which was extremely reasonable to start with) becomes 1/2 price OUT OF THIS WORLD!

I was waiting to get to this place again for sushi , as it was a really good experience last time, however this time was really disappointing
The rice was overcooked and the sushi was just not nice
Really let me down, time to find another sushi place
Frances Ratner
Best sushi in Wellington, hands down. You will never want to eat St Pierre's again after coming here.
The prices are great, plus the half price at four deal is just insane- you'll definitely need to arrive at at least quarter to to get in the queue but it is totally worth it.
Everything is always super fresh; and the pieces are a generous size.
Before finding this place, I didn't even like sushi- but now I come here two or three times a week and I have never been disappointed.
Siobhan
Love the half price sushi! Try and come here as often as i can as im a big fan of the fact its very cheap for such a delicious and healthy bite to eat. Soo yummy and a great variety...worth the queue!
Ian
I was at their store on Willis today and the blonde girl there totally ripped me off. They just make up the price they don't add it up correctly depending on what you order. Shocking as this is not the first time I and others have been over charged.

Either avoid them completely or else make sure you add up the price yourself and prepare for an argument at the checkout.

This little sushi shop rocks. Fresh, quality sushi, great range and not just rice fodder like most of the more commercial ones. All at value for money prices. There is usually some queuing involved here, especially around lunch time, but it is definitely worth the wait. Oh yes, and there is not much seating either except for a tiny window bar, so I usuallly just grab a box and sit by the trees across the road.

Lots of people know how great Sushi Bi is, so expect to queue at busy times! I especially love their half-price evening special, what a bargain.
Hugh Jones
Awesome sushi, lovely girl behind the counter although she needs to tie her hair back, we've twice found a long black hair in our sushi!
Frances
Ah sushi bi, I love you. Sure the queue is long but it moves fast and you can surreptitiously people watch on the quay and woodward st. My order has never come to more than $10 and its like you're paying just for great fresh sushi and nothing else, the place is tiny but it doesn't matter.

Best sushi in Wellington! The staff are friendly and the sushi is fresh and affordable. Be prepared to wait, the lines are literally out the door but it's worth it.
M
Big fresh tasty sushi at a good price.
However be prepared for a wait if you go during lunch time, this place is no secret.
