Delicious food!! Would definitely come back, the portions are pretty large so worth the money and just so tasty! Good vegetarian and gluten free options. Very cute interior and the sweetest waitress too - super accommodating for our big group and birthday celebrations :)

Food was amazing, fresh and tasty. Staff were great and very friendly. Extra point for the tap beer option. Lovely atmosphere, we’ll be back.

What a hidden gem on Willis Street! Very fresh and tasty food here, and very friendly staff. We will definitely come back again.

Katsudon tasted great! I would love to order it again 🥰 The portion size was decent- I'm happy with the price and how much food was served. We also ordered the gyoza which tasted good. No complaints. The staff are friendly. Service was good, no complaints.

Been here two times now and I would rate it. It has really nice izakaya vibes and I feel the food is quite tasty. They also have Yebisu! That's a bonus if you ask me. :D

As a chef, the food at Miyabi was very good I have to say. I can taste that their fish was so fresh! Very authentic Japanese food cuz I was living in Japan for many years. Their renovation and decoration style made me comfy and service was friendly but if you looking for a fancy fine dinning atmosphere, maybe here’s not a good choice. Their portion size was decent and well priced. Definitely will come back again for a real Japanese meal!

The food at Miyabi was simply outstanding. Every dish we ordered was expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection. The tempura was particularly impressive, with a beautiful presentation that was as pleasing to the eye. Olivia is an asset to the restaurant, She was knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great suggestions that suited our preferences perfectly, and really helped to make our visit special. Miyabi's Olivia Shines!

Been 4 times now. Friendly staff. Nicely decorated restaurant. Favorite dish would have to be katsudon one of the best Japanese dishs I have had. Also the teriyaki beef. Their teriyaki sauce is the best I've ever had.

Great service, delicious food. Tempura crispy, all meats super tender, great teriyaki, good beef udon, super sweet octopus balls. Loved it.

Delicious! We had the gyoza, karaage chicken, sashimi of salmon & snapper & the teriyaki chicken and they were all out of this world amazing and fresh. The staff were lovely, and it's also BYO.

Miyabi was lovely. I took my partner here for dinner. The takoyaki (deep fried octopus meatballs) are so good. The teriyaki chicken was delicious as well. Well cooked rice and a crisp salad and miso soup on the side. Finished off with a refreshing green tea. Highly recommended.

Was searching for some takeaway dinner while in Wellington for work and found Miyabi. It's a very friendly little restaurant with tasty Japanese food, I'm really happy I found this place. This is my (vegetarian) dinner.

The most wonderful little hideaway BYO in Wellington. Exceptional atmosphere, exquisite service, and a divine menu sure to please all who choose from it. An excellent choice for a night out, I will be sure to recommend and even surer to make another visit 👏

This is a LOVELY little Japanese restaurant in Wellington CBD. Very friendly staff with authentic Japanese food. Nice relaxed atmosphere and setting. Overall a delightful meal and evening out. Would certainly return.

They provide great options of lunch special. My husband especially likes the beef noodles. It was made with hand-pulled noodles which are full of flavor. The beef was cooked well too, particularly when you pull some sesame oil on it. Will come again for other dishes.

We went for supper. The place was clean and staff were friendly enough, however the meals were not so good, particularly they were already cold when served. I didn't feel that I had a Japanese meal. I won't go there again.

Tried the tempura udon. I thought the dashi was pretty good however the noddles were not standard Japanese udon noodles (never saw noodles like that in Japan) and what is with the lettuce in the dashi ? That is just plain weird and nothing like that I ever saw in Japan. No need. Otherwise not too bad. Reasonably authentic.

Great service and friendly staff. It has a homely atmosphere when you enter the restaurant. The food is delicious and very filling! 🍱 🍶
5/5 😊

This place is quite different from what I would have expected. I would have given it a 3.5 but I honk it is to expensive for what you get! Expect to spend at lest 100 for two not including drinks.

First time been here , lucky that they don't let me be disappointed ..salmon tuna or other sushi are fresh !! Even the waitress are friendly . Good experience

I've been to this place several times for dinner. This place is my healthy and quiet option. Tried the Teriyaki fish set and it was pretty good. The fish is delicious, the rice is on the dry side and I find the miso soup too salty for me. The portions are pretty big. I've also had the vegetarian sushi set, I think the only thing I think could be improved is the rice. But it's still quite nice. The Tempura banana with green tea ice cream is perfect, I think that's my favourite dish. Service is always superb.

By far the best Japanese food I've had, go there on a regular basis for the chicken set, tempura scallops and the chocolate mousse is to die for the staff are lovely, super fast and mr chuck the owner is always welcoming LOVE this place!

Had lunch here on a weekday. It was quiet but the food was pretty good. Just had the pork katsu don, it was the most generous serving of rice and pork and I'd rate it highly compared to other dons I've had in Wellington. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

This use to be one of my local haunting places when I first arrived to Wellington several years ago. During this time I have seen new restaurants pop up and close down, but Miyabi still stands. So there must be something about Miyabi were people keep coming back. I visit this place from time to time generally ordering either a donburi, one of the set menus or a soba dish with one to two entrees.

Check out my website for a more indepth review

I am a regular patron of Miyabi Sushi (actually my last visit was Friday night, 12 July 2013), and every time I visit I return with a different group of people and every time we get great food and great service, and from memory I started visiting this place since 1998. I swear by this place if someone wants a delicious and enjoyable Japanese Meal. McIvor should give this place another chance as I have never known Miyabi Sushi to be the way he has described it.

No recent reviews of this place.......wonder if there has been a change of owner or chef. Not in the least impressed by the noodle shop quality food that is horrendously overpriced. No greetings, no pleasantries and no water offered. I would not recommended it nor go back to patronize it again.

A hidden gem! Good home-style Japanese food. Not the best, but tasty and reasonably priced. Great, friendly atmosphere and wonderful service. I recommend the agedashi tofu!

Consistently fantastic!

Gorgeous food and really good service. Lovely, authentic place tucked off the main street. And the prices are decent too - especially when you consider you get HEAPS of food!

Totally recommend the Yakiudon noodles - really tasty!

The Miyabi Sushi Japanese Cafe is also my favourite Japanese restaurant in the Wellington region!!

I simply love their Teriyaki Chicken sets!!

And their sushi are lovely too!!

Service is quite fast!!

The place is alway busy and their food are always great value!!

Its a pity though that its always seems so difficult to get a carpark close by!!

And "Chuck" the Chef and owner is a great and friendly guy!!

This place is my favourite Japanese restaurant in the entire Wellington region and is always very busy however their service is always great.

My favourite dishes there are their gyoza dumplings, fried chicken karaage, takoyaki squid, tempura and their main sets - especially their steak teriyaki set. The prices range from average to a bit pricey but it's well worth it. It's definitely a great environment to enjoy very delicious japanese food.

I believe their sushi is made fresh for you although I haven't tried their sushi (only because I am tempted with their other yummy dishes).

Hey guy, I love to visit this restaurant so much. Their food is fantastic, especially that teriyaki chicken, katsu curry, Gyoza, Karage, Takoyaki... I cant list all of their food here, but is really awesome.
Their boss, Chang are chubby and friendly, you will always find smile on his face.
Great place to go ya!

A very pleasant little place off Willis Street. I have only been there for lunch when I literally tripped over it as the Vietnamese place opposite (Nam) was closed that day for some reason. So I went in for lunch, the first of what have been a number of visits. Miyabi serves a range of dishes, but I only ever eat the sashimi which is my preferred dish in all sushi places. I count myself fortunate to have found this place which is a bit out of the way, but based on what I have had there is one I would recommend. Like other eating places in this location the shared toilet facilities leave something to be desired. The food is good, or at least my sashimi has always been so.
