Review Tj Katsu - Wellington

Really friendly and helpful staff and the food was delicious. Love that you can choose your individual sushi. I got a really good teriyaki chicken and noodle dish. Would 100% go again.

Freshest and best sushi I have ever ate. Staff are constantly bringing out new and fresh sushi. As TJ Katsu are so popular, the sushi doesn't just sit there all day so the avocado doesn't taste odd and the vegetables don't wilt. Lovely staff, premises and great loyalty stamp card system. Also a fantastic place to sit down and enjoy your meal

Authentic Japanese cuisine made by experts. Spicy Chicken don is recommended! Spicy! Hot! Tasty! Love it very much. Every single dish is served with miso tofu soup. Sushi is self-serve. Price starts from 2 nzd. You can choose your drink from the fridge. The cashier is charming - smile all the time - made this restaurant enchanted.

So tasty!! There are various choices and staff was friendly 😀 Favourite sushi shop in town 😋

Reasonable price and good size of the dish. Tariyiki dishes come out too sweet for me. The curry and the sushi are all good.

An excellent sushi and katsu cafe. It's a full imersive experience in Japanese in Wellington cafe culture. From the freshly made, carefully prepared food through to the decor and J-Pop music in the background. Makes you feel like doing some karaoke afterwards. The vegan spring rolls are awesome. Generally the food is well priced and great value. Staff are wonderful and helpful if you want to know more about what you are eating. They enjoy it when you order in Japanese, even when it's been a while since you have done so. Certainly worth paying a visit.

What can I say except hip hop hooray! TJ Katsu is the perfect salmon to my avocado, the teriyaki to my chicken, the unagi to my rice. 12/10 no cap.

good food, not super cheap but worth it. payed 26 dollars for a medium hungry stomach of a man (picture of the plate below + 1 420ml coke)

Yummy place for lunch where everyone can get what they want. Like a sushi train, but you're the train as you walk along a selection of food and fill your tray. And that tray, like all their on site packaging, is compostable. Well done on that guys - great to take that stance. Hot food not so enticing, but that's difficult in a buffet situation.

TJ Katsu was a nice Japanese restaurant with a fun bright atmosphere, cool illustrations on the walls and modern counters of nice foods. I order a tofu bento box which includes an array of tasty vegetarian morsels such a rice, fried tofu and vegetables, small vegetable wraps, salad, miso soup, vegetable patty and sushi. The people working there were friendly and the restaurant was clean. Toilets available up the back of restaurant and it would be wheel chair friendly. Great authentic restaurant would recommend to others.

Absolutely wonderful food and a great atmosphere. Loved it! Chicken katsu udon was beautifully balanced and a great meal.

I like their sushi and some of the Japanese food they provide. The vegetarian options start from NZD 1.2 per piece, then 1.6 for chicken teriyaki and others, the the rest is NZD 2 up. I also bought chicken kaarage and potato croquette. They also have dumplings and spring rolls. I also like to order the bento box and unagi set they have. It's delicious. The space here is quite spacious and comfy. Parking might be a bit tricky though although this place is close to the hip Cuba st.

Always love TJ Katsu! Their food, service and atmosphere is always immaculate! I love that it's an open space as well, and the design is just perfect 🥰

I went here because I had some GrabOne vouchers. I had the katsu chicken on noodles. Delicious and good portion sizes.
I love the noodles so yummy! I would buy those noodles and take them home if I could, my partner who isn’t a normal noodle lover loves these noodles.

Couldn’t find any napkins which was a little annoying.

Great food, great vibe, clean restaurant and friendly staff. Awesome display cabinet out front displaying some of the many options. Thank you.

Great sushi! Interior is a bit out dated and has a "food court in a shopping mall" atmosphere which could be improved on. The service is good but not outstanding. Would definitely come back again though not to dine in.

Awesome. Reasonably priced. Some of the best sushi I have had in Wellington. A nice selection to choose from and a cool bento box display in the front. Would definitely return and recommend.

I had the crispy chicken sushi twice and a couple of other types of sushi. Both times the chicken tasted average but love the selection of sushi that is readily available. Wouldn't get sushi here again but would try one of the donburi or noodle dishes.

Popped in twice over a weekend on the way to a show. You can eat in or takeaway. The place was busy but service was fast. We were lucky in grabbing a table on both occasions. We had the Eel Bento and the combination Bento. They were both yum! for a quick meal this is the place.

We came here for lunch and it was nice. The vegan dumplings are deceptively meaty I actually went and asked if they were chicken or pork a little freaked out but no they were tofu! Everything was nice but the sushi didn't taste distinctively fresh and the takoyaki was a bit fishy although somehow cooked to be served cold as they weren't dry or hard - same with all cold fried food there. Somehow soft? Would go back again but it wouldn't be a first choice - purely convenient.

I recently tried the Courtenay branch of TJs. Today I tried the Manners branch.

As you’d expect, it’s very similar to other branches. Good selection of sushi on offer. All the standard sushi variants are here. Prices are clearly marked and reasonable.

I ordered a mix of 5 pieces ($10.00). The sushi is good, but I'd have to say the Courtenay branch was a little better. I did enjoyed it though.

I don't like wasabi in the sachets - which is what they seem to do in each store - but it wasn't a big deal.

Overall, enjoyable sushi but I would sooner return to the Courtenay branch next time.

Had my late lunch there and the foods were superb. I ordered spicy noodle with chicken katsu and also the sushi. The sushi was great and also fresh. The main dish, spicy noodle and chicken katsu, was the bomb. Portion is big enough to make you bloated and if you manage to finish the dish, I guess you could skip the dinner. Staffs were friendly and helpful. I love how they greeted me and smile. Just like the previous comment said, an extra staff might be great, since I saw many dirty plates still on the table. Overall, 4.5/5!

Amazing dumplings. Hot miso soup. Bento box was delicious. Beef teriyaki was pretty good. I asked for extra mayo because everything tastes better with mayo. Edamame beans came out a little late and weren't hot enough. Friendly service.

Went as a group of five. We enjoyed our meal. I think the portion was quite big too as two of us didnt manage to finish our food (or maybe because we were full from eating the counter sushi beforehand). The staff did forgot our miso soups but bring them over once he realized it. The service was okay but maybe they need more staffs at the counter/ taking order/ serving the customers.
