NZD18 for this plate of seafood fried rice noodle is worthwhile. It came with fresh prawns, squid and scallops. The rice noodle was fried sufficiently and the gravy consistency was to my liking. Usually I can’t finish a dish by myself but I did with this one. I just kept eating till almost the last piece of noodle.

Review from our friend who had Combination Fried Noodle with Egg: "Honest opinion, it kinda has no flavour and it's kinda like slimy. But it's good if you wanted to finger workout" Hainanese chicken rice is good as always, meat was nice and moist. Dry Fried Kua Teaw is really good, even better with sambal chilli (need to ask and it's free). Bright coloured interior really gives off South East Asian vibes. Picture of Petrona Towers makes it feel authentic. Prices have gone up over the years, but understandable due to inflation...

Very generous portion sizes. I enjoyed the chicken rendeng ($20), however I didn’t realise how much desiccated coconut it would have and it was slightly overpowering. The prices here have also risen but that’s understandable with the rising cost of food.

Tried R&S based on an article about Roti Canai. It was good, but did not live up to the hype. Same with the Hainanese Chicken. Service was good but will probably not come back. I'll stick to our tried & tested KK Malayasian.

Always a pleasure to come here. People are friendly, food is consistently great. Have been here countless times and never fails to deliver

Awesome food and great service..

I always order seafood curry laksa here. This is the only good place in Wellington I know where you can find decent laksa. It was a bit rainy, perfect weather for this dish today. Love it each time I go here

Love this place! Good food, great quantity at an very affordable price. I get the crispy pork and chicken with rice. Always tasty, fresh and satisfying. If you are looking for cheap and cheerful, I definitely recommend! Large number of tables and generally will always be able to get a table.

Excellent satay noodle soup. Shredded breast chicken, delicious chicken broth, oodles of lovely fat noodles and an excellent deep satay sauce to mix in. Friendly service, no frills decor, huge serves, great value. No credit cards taken. If I lived here, I'd be adding this to my regular rotation. Couldn't think of much better on a cold windy Wellington winter's night.

Always good food every time. Good price, nutritious with variety, I have about 4 favourites.

Huge portion sizes and great selection of Malaysian dishes. Taste is great. Can't go wrong with a roti with peanut sauce, and meehoon goreng

I went for the wonton soup and pork noodles soup. Was really lovely. Perfectly seasoned. No need to add anything. Noodles were cooked perfectly. Brooth was delicious. Enough meat and bok choy. Only disappointing factor was the price. Very over priced for the size of the soup. In auckland for that price we get 4x as much which isn't necessary as can never finish so I would say bring price down to be fair to customer.

Beautiful food, nice clean restaurant and great service!

Great family-owned restaurant, reasonably priced food. Tasty, homestyle and authentic.

Love it. Cheap, cheerful and absolutely delicious. Came here 2 nights in a row because the food was that good. The staff are great. Hard working and friendly. They must be very proud to serve great Malaysian food, allowing others to enjoy and have an insight into their great cuisine.

Long time regular of this place. Particularly like the noodle soups for their great broths.

Good food and super generous portion. Great value for money and super tasty. Service was ok what you would expect but food made up for this.

Went with a big group of friends, the food was ok but there was an hour wait between when the first people from our group and the rest of us got our food. It became obvious that the kitchen was fulfilling the orders of other groups that arrived after us first and it was incredibly frustrating. There are other Malaysian restaurants around which have better service and food so I know that I won’t be going back.

Came here for lunch just after 1pm which was good timing as this place wasn’t that busy.
Staff are very friendly and the food was yummy.
We had the Fried Chicken and BBQ Pork on rice and Beef Noodle Soup which was very nice.
This is definitely one of our go to places.

Decent price . Good taste . Inconsistency in portions . Partner was not happy with the amount her got in comparison to others . Could do with some cleaning too of the condiments on the tables . And although it looks like there is a lot of bbq pork in this photo it is just positioned well and in reality in comparison to the noodle amount of my dish it was pretty stingy . Great taste though !

Despite the bad reviews you guys still have enough business to keep going. Over the 10years I’ve been coming here, the food has never failed me and doesn’t taste bland (aka like white colonising trash). so salute to you r.s noodle house :)

I understand it’s a cheap place and from time to time I do like “cheap and cheerful” choices but this one is without “cheerful” element for me. I ordered a combination noodle soup but changed the rice noddles to egg noddles. However the egg noodles were very thick and more like udon noodles. The soup was OK but the meat was tasteless. Also, the place was extremely hot- too hot that I felt like i was in a sauna. There was no fan and despite the door was open the cooking made the room even more steamy and hot.. not a comfortable experience on a hot day.

Stopped by for a quick lunch and indulged myself in a delicious 'supreme chicken satay' at a very reasonable price.

Will be stopping by again to make my way through their extensive menu...

Walking past with a friend staying over we decided on the shops that were hiding in plain sight. This noodle shop sure doesn't look like the prettiest of all but the food was pretty good. Their portion sizes are low key massive while the service is honest and uncompromising. When I asked how big their dishes were they showed me a plate and made me imagine a blob of noodles atop using hand signals. True to their word the $11.90 dish came out hot and sizeable and left me.feeling full. A nice little Shop in the heart of it all.

Love this place especially the satay dishes. Nice open comfortable dinning area. Serve is good. I often come to buy their satay sauce for cooking with at home and always get a good welcome when I come in as they know me now.

Woohoo! First review of 2016!

After a turbulent but satisfying journey throughout Southeast Asia, it's ironic that my first meal out was Asian.

R & S certainly doesn't disappoint and the wonderful portion sizes that they serve basically meant I could have two meals.

Showstopper: Delicious meals for bargain prices.

Overall Grade: B

Friendly staff, convenient location and excellent food. This noodle house is good value and provides a humble scene for those on Cuba. Would recommend for casual dining.

Good food for an ok price. Just that bright green colour on the walls makes a non comfortable atmosphere, never seen a bright green restaurant in my life.
Team Thomas
Had the Dry Fried Kua Teow and the Bee Hoon tonight. The meat in the Kua Teow was quite sweet but overall the dish had nice savoury flavour. The Bee Hoon was alright... The service was good, staff were friendly enough but if up that end of town again for a meal there are a number of choices so might try another spot next time.

I love satay and always come here when I'm in Wellington. I got a sweet and sour satay beef with extra satay sauce and it was delicious. I will be back.

The sprawling space is devoid of any warmth or character and that shade of blue on the walls is just like the one I had in my bedroom back in 1981.

Went here today for a seafood Laksa. All I can say was it was very tasty and very good. I always looks for restaurants that can make a good Laksa and this is one of them.I will be back to try this again and others off the menu. Has a very extensive menu.

Not as good ad some of the other Asian places in town but not bad either, pretty good value, a lot to choose from on the menu, and the staff are (usually) pretty friendly and say hi and goodbye over the woks as you enter and leave.

The garlic and ginger chicken is probably my favourite dish here.

Fast service, great value.

Food was good, reasonable price, but service was poor. I was in a big group and my food came last, when most of the people in the group has finished eating, and they didn't even apologize for the incredibly long wait. At least the food was as good.

If you are looking for a authentic Malaysian fast food this place is the best in Wellington. I am a regular here and they never disappoint me. I recommend S4(combination fried noodle) and cha quay teo.

Being going there since I moved to Wellington 6 years ago...If you are after authentic Malay food, you cant go pass R & S Noodle House at Cuba St. Good family restaurant be around for years....Tons of choices for all preferences, yummy Laksa, satay noodle soup, roti chanai, you name it. Next time when you are around cuba st, try them out. You wont be disappointed.

Went there for lunch yesterday. The place is like a fastfood, decor is pretty yucky but staff is friendly but need to improve their hygiene. Pretty shocking when someone poke their finger into your food. The price is not cheap compare to other asian restaurant. I paid $12.50 for a 3 bbq meats 2 small wontons and some noodles. I prefer KK

The "R and S Satay Noodle House" in Upper Cuba Street, is in my honest opinion the BEST Malaysian Restaurant in inner Wellington City!!!

We have been dining there once a week for the past three years.

Its Fine Chicken Curry Laksa is really yummy and tasty!!!

So is their Dry Noodle Won Ton and Chicken Soup!!!

You won't need to go to Malaysia to eat true Malaysian meals..... good honest authentic Malaysian home styled meals are served here!!! And at reasonable prices too!!!

The restaurant is situated in new and modern building.....so its nice warm and comfortable there also.....especially on Wellington's cold wintry days!!!
