Hearty food, maybe a bit too much salt. Excellent service. Great location in the middle of the dining and entertaining part of the city.
High and low tables, couches, outdoor smoking area, a stage for a band, even a door man to keep the overdressed out. Good range of beer. Irish themed.

Cool place for a quick bit to eat. Steak was cooked to perfection, chips were delish and salad was nice and fresh. Service was excellent. Have been a few times and will continue to do so :)

Excellent hospitality, Excellent food and drinks..menu has a good variety, I throughly recommend the pub specials which you access ordering online while you sit in the pub, don't worry if your not tech savvy the staff will help you every step of the way. We had the med-rare steak meal,cob loaf,burger..alot of tradies eating meals, a good indication meals are fast to the table and great value..Highly recommended ,mushroom sauce with the steak or the garlic butter hard to choose both lip smacking good!!

Everything was going well but then we had an encounter with one of the staff. The ones we interacted with were absolutely lovely including one of the staff (Finn) He was an amazing host and looked us so well. Would definitely reccomend

I came in this morning to watch the allbacks play and was met with a warm welcoming smile. The amazing bartender upstairs I believe her name was gabbrieal was extremely helpful and knowledgeable talking to me about the different drinks that this pub has to offer. Overall great experience would recommend :)

I had a really nice time at Jack Hackets. The pints were proper and all good. Fiona looked after us, she knew all about Guinness, and craic. Would definitely come back for more Guinness.

Jack Hackett’s Irish Bar replaced the old Five Stags on the corner of Taranaki and Dixon Sts and very little (if anything) is different about it. The drinks and live music are good but the food is just average. We ordered chicken parmo, which was covered with cheese (but not Parmesan), and the Welly on a Plate chicken burger. Both were ok, just lacking in flavour. Staff were friendly on the day and quick to take extra drink orders while we waited for our meals. The best way to contact the restaurant for bookings is via Facebook messenger as their phone system mailbox has been down for several days, meaning they can't answer phone calls. I’d go again for drinks and to enjoy a band but will probably skip dinner.

Reasonable service. The beef burger was rather disappointing with the party have no flavor at all. The chicken tenderloins were also a bit over cooked. Okay for 2 for 1 pricing but would be pretty disappointed if I was paying full price for what we got

I was very disappointed in my meal tonight, I ordered the piggy platter, the chips were under cooked very pale and limp the 2 pork ribs had no sauce or seasoning very fatty and the pulled pork balls were very unpleasant. My partner had a mixed grill and his meal was very dry.the service was good and the staff friendly thank goodness or I would have given them a one.

Where do I start. This place is a gem. Very friendly staff. Very fast service. The live band made the atmosphere and the experience that much more. Really enjoyed my night there. Will most definitely return and highly recommend checking this place out.
