Review Chef's Palette - Wellington

Jellied Soup
Been going there for many years and it's a good cheap meal. Not sure if the cashier dislikes me personally but no matter what I say she'll always find a way to question what I tell her what I've bought, whether it's the price, meal type, reached the l point where I won't be going back as its annoying and comes across as pretty rude.

One of the best value, quick lunch spots in town. $7-$9 for a warm noodles with salad, meat, and your choice of sauces. I appreciate the use of biodegradable take away bowls. Only critique is maybe a little light with the meat servings.

The one on Courtney place, excellent. Great staff, well bar one who works Saturdays (she is rough around the edges, makes calls during meal prep and is rude) she charges you for nuts but gives free nuts to handsome caucasian men. Fresh food, great place to eat, affordable. Healthy, convenient and a lunch time fav. 5 stars!

Have been going to the store in Porirua - Sam (owner) and his wife are awesome and practically know my order off by heart upon entry (even if I don't frequent there in a couple of weeks)... great value for money! $7 for a base salad + noodles + protein with choice of home made sauces. Particularly love the ginger spring onion + lime chilli combination. Definitely my cost-effective 'go to'!

Legit $5 veg is best value out - recommend sichuan chilli and orange chilli as sauce. If you're at the woodward one then go next door for a $1 froco from BK and you're sussed for a six wuck lunch to the days

Great value for money and a good lunch

Perfect for a quick takeaway lunch. Not really any room to sit so I would definitely only recommend this place for a delicious, fast lunch.

Tasty food fast service. Can customize meals to suit. Lines can get long at lunch time due to the amazing food.

I once timed how long I took in this store. 52 seconds! Fresh, fast and healthy food!

Awesome place, i get the $5.00 vegetarian salad and it is lovely. Made right in front of you.

$6.50 meat and noodles (plus $1 for extra noodles). Good value.

Mixed feelings about this place.
Great for a quick stop for food.
The options aren’t that great.

For more follow @wellymunchers on the gram

I've been studying and working in Wellington for the last 4 and a half years. As soon as me and my friends discovered the Chef's Palette in Taste on Willis we have been going for lunch there regularly, at one point we went 4 times a week. Now me and my co-workers go to the newer one located on Willis Street near to the corner of Boulcott Street.
My point is, I've never gotten sick of these noodles. They're delicious, have a great range of tasty home made sauces and nice meat options and at a really reasonable price for the capital.
I recommend to anyone working or studying in Wellington to try these guys, it could be your new favourite lunch place!

This Chef's Palette location has been a staple for me for a while. It's a place where you come to get value for your dollar. The $7 noodles is a relatively cheap feed for the area. Though the price keeps going up.

The staff always have a consistently good attitude. Though paywave would sort out the peak hour queues.

I frequently visit for noodles because it is convenient. But every time, I am unsatisfied with the service and the staff is unfriendly and impolite.

Chef's Palette is always my top choice when I don't know what I should take for lunch. It always quite busy during lunch time and the food is always fresh and tasty. Love it.

I eat at Chef's Palatte so much, and the customer service is great, I dont have to say a word and the employees know what I already want, but since I am Vegan, I haven't been able to find any nutritional information about what Noodles you are using, and perhaps what are i the sauces, it would help me out greatly if I had some peace of mind.

as someone that eats regularly at chefs palate (multiple times a week) I have some feed backfirst the good...the food is cheap and mostly very goodhowever; the plastic bowls are a very wasteful and environmentally unfriendly option. I have brought this up multiple times. switch to recyclable containers PLEASE....hundreds of bowls in those trash bags after lunch everydayyou should have one person involved in cash handling and till operations. there is no point wearing gloves if those same gloves are dealing with food, AND money. this is very unsanitary.

I have been eating at Chefs Palette (Taste on Willis) several times a week, every week since it first opened. I obviously usually love it as I go back so often. But I have been so disappointed the last 3 times I have been that I dont think I will go back again. The lettuce has been the thick white stemmy part with a bitter flavour. Even when I ask for extra salad I just get more of the white lettuce. The sauces are put on so quickly that you only get half a scoop. Last 2 times they forgot to put nuts on. The whole thing is just going downhill. Its a shame as this used to be amazing.

Delicious and amazing. I eat it like 3 times a week so yummy, great value ! The $5 vegetarian deal is my go and never disappoints. Never had a bad experience :)

Our office in Brooklyn has Chefs Palette at least once a week. We go out of our way to make it into the City to order for our staff.
At $6.50 it is a fantastic and tasty lunch with just the right amount of everything. It is a noodle dish so expect more noodles but once combined with everything else thats added its perfect, especially for the price.
The line can be big but it still doesnt take long to get your order complete as there is a lot of staff doing their specific job.
I see complaining gets you a free meal on here, But I just have no complaints at all and ive been going there for years.

I was a 5,3 55kg weakling until I discovered Chef's Palette. Fast forward 5 years and I am 6,3 and weigh 95kg. While some of my friends put this down to a diet that otherwise consists mainly of horse tranquilisers and boiled chicken's feet I firmly believe that it is Chef's Palette's delicious combination of the mysterious flavours of the orient combined with fresh ingredients and meat. Thank you Chef's Palette, you made a man of me.

Hi there,

I am regular customer of chef palette. But this time experience was not good.

today around 3:35pm I visited Courtenay place, wellington store. Girl was very poor in customer service. she didn't followed whatever I said to her. I asked to her I need less vegetables and I want extra noodles. every time I paid $1 extra for noodles. she put too much vegetables in container, put less noodles and charge $7 for vegetarian noodles. 75% container was filled with vegetables and there was very less noodles. I didn't finish my noodles and throw it in the bin and when I said to her she was so rude with me, didn't listen anything properly, instead of listening to customer she was busy on phone. overall, very bad experience not happy.

hi there, i am long time loyal $6.50 chicken noodle salad customer! I just wanted to stop by and say i love your work! Keep keeping at it! ALSO I was at chefs pallette Willis street this past friday the 10th of June and was blown away by the friendly customer service from the boy and girl duo behind the busy salad bar! Give them a raise I say!!!

Same as below reviewer, have been going to C.P for years now regularly, however the site in the Taste on Willis foodcourt is seriously lacking lately. The staff are standoffish if not outright rude, the guy that does the sauces is INAUDIBLE. The first time I encountered him I had to ask him 3 times what on earth he was saying, he made no attempt to speak any clearer so I just guessed as he waas standing by the sauces that he was asking about the sauces. Crazy rude. ALSO the past three times i have got my vege noodle dish they have left out the edamame! What's the problem folks?! I've worked in hospo for much of my life, I understand this is perhaps a pretty thankless job but you get back what you put in. I won't be returning as I can just go to New World and get a 99c packet of Udon noodles at this point. Embarassing.

really bad and rude customer service.
the lady who was taking my order didn't even ask what I wanted and assumed I wanted beetroot and gerkins! then she had to take it out. she forgot adamamay beans and the beensprout. she was In such a rush, I have no idea why because they had no customers. they also had all these bowls filled with pieces of meat and veges sitting on top the vege selection, getting in the way and blocking you're view. then they start talking in thier language about us. rude I'm never going back to that horrible place again!
There is always a huge queue outside Chef's Palette. Good, cheap eats in the city is a massive draw - so I assume that is one of the reasons for its popularity – and it must be good to consistently draw the rush of customers. However, the queue always puts me off, so I tend to go elsewhere.

I was out for an early lunch (11.30am), there was no queue so I gave it a try.

I was greeted as I entered and asked what I wanted. I didn't really know so it was suggested I try the $6.00 noodle salad; so I went with that.

I chose chicken as my meat, my preferred sauce and dressing and it was put together within a minute. Great

Back at the office I tucked in. It's a big portion with plenty of chicken. It’s tasty too which is good. What's not so good is that it is predominantly noodles. There’s a little bit of salad, which, along with the other ingredients end up mostly at the bottom of the bowl.

To avoid eating too many carbs I removed about a third of the noodles. It was still a good feed, and I didn't fall asleep from a carb attack, so all good there. I would have preferred if there was a better ratio of noodles and salad though.

I will go back, but I'll make sure I choose a bit more wisely next time.

So I had the $6 steak today which has slices of steak, a selection of salad veg and a heap of noodles. I chose the Sichuan chilli and garlic chilli for my dressings and was glad this all went seamlessly after reading about the queues and speed of service...The size of the dish was really good value for money, the salad was fresh and while the sauces were tasty they are pretty westernised in that they are very sweet and not spicey in terms of chilli heat. I said to my Mrs I would rate it a 4.0 and she said wow was it that good?.... well.. its OK but the rating is because the staff were friendly, it was very cheap, generous portion size and pretty tasty... that kinda ticks all the boxes. I would go back and I would suggest people try Chefs Palette.

Chefs pallet is my go to lunch when I am down that side of town. Once you get over the intial pressure of ordering you become a loyal customer. So cheap and tasty!! 6 double meet with chicken and chorizo with honey mustard and sweet basil sauces is my favorite. Super healthy as well cant beat cheffys

A great healthy food joint for busy professionals in the CBD. Their lime chilli sauces is just addictive. Go there weekly on days where i dont make my own food. Great value for money.
