Review Gasworks - Wellington

Jaine Hidalgo
First time in here, experience was amazing. 1. Kumara Chips - large serving and nicely fried! 2. Fettuccine - generous amount, you can share this to your girlfriend 3. The star of our night was the Crispy pork belly! - a must try! Presented well and the sauce really compliments the dish. Our friends f will love this for sure Definitely, will be coming back. Kudos to the chef and his/her team!

Food was good and well priced, friendly service, bar like feel to the venue, burger was well seasoned and tasty and a good number of fries, menu has a good selection. Not all drinks were available from stock. Will be returning.

Was here a while ago, things have improved. Warmly welcomed on arrival, staff were great. Ordered their burger entry into Wellington On A Plate "Kentucky Derby". Heaps of off street parking including wheelchair friendly parks. Entry is wheelchair accessible, tables wheelchair accessible as are toilets. Highchairs and kids menu available for the kids. Beer, wine and cocktails available. Plenty of seating options indoors and outdoors note ashtrays on tables so people use outdoor tables.

Great friendly service. Also really nice food. Always happy to go here for a good brunch or a date night.

A fantastic place to hang out and watch the rugby with friends. Menu is extensive yet not confusing. Do try the steak open sandwich and the palenta chips are also great. Good value for money with the portions on the generous side. Beer and wine list is very good with some craft beers you cannot find in the CBD. It's varied to sustain most wine and beer appreciaters. Staff are very friendly, helpful and excellent in service. Even with four demanding little children, I can include patient staff. Decor, ambience and music is modern-classic yet timeless. It is functional and doesn't distract.

The food is amazing, so yum, staff were nice. We did not have a booking on a busy night but they still were able to find us a table. Nothing was a problem. Must visit place

Awesome place for a meal and a drink with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I go here on a regular basis for a meal. The steak here is always really good and the chicken is well worth trying.

Great customer service, great food and a great environment! Really loved the quick and efficient service and the ample portions of food! Really enjoyed the All You Can Eat Ribs for $20 #Wednesdays

The Gasworks has been a semi regular place for us to eat. We probably go at least 4 times a year for a meal. It’s had its ups and downs with its menus over the years. It’s always our kids favorite due to the desert the comes with the kids meals. Our recent visit was a quick lunch and it was great. Very tasty buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and a beer. Looking forward to trying out some other meals from this menu.

Down from Auckland for the weekend and looking for a relaxed place to grab a feed and a few drinks. Gasworks has exceeded all expectations. Went with the open steak sandwich with salad and couldn’t fault it one bit. Drinks were great also and reasonably priced. Great waiter service and friendly staff. Will be back again for sure 👌🏼

As a first timer in Wellington I felt very welcomed. The manager and waitress had good conversation and the service was great. Even on a cold wet day. Food was good, no Michelin stars but that's not why you go there. I would definitely recommend it.

Their WOAP 2019 Kentucky Derby burger with waffle fries is solid, paired with a FF Wellington Ian IPA, but next time a chipotle rather than charcoal aioli....

Very good service and really enjoyed our lunch (pan fried fish and beer battered fish & chips). Thank you!

The food and staff were amazing but I found I was quite cold with the doors wide open there was a cross breeze we couldn't escape from. Overall we had a pleasant meal and came away satisfied. We will be back

Lovely smiley staff greeted us as we arrived. Nice warm atmosphere and modern day core. Good coffee... Yummy food... We tried the cauliflower and coconut soup $12.. Eggs on toast $7 beef burger $20 and pulled pork hash $16... All meals were presented well and tasted great. Priced fairly. Nice place to eat.

Love this friendly local joint for a casual family meal or catch up with friends. I need to get those kumara fries in my belly next time, they looked amazing! The wee kids packs are a lifesaver! We'll be back for sure

Great food! Great taste! Great portions!
Makes sense that the prices are a bit higher than usual.
We ordered the Chicken Sandwich, Holy Cow Burger, Vege Burger and the Beer Battered Fish & Chips♥️
Switching my regular fries for kumara fries might be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Absolutely love the kumara fries! 😍
Good service and a cozy ambience!
Can't wait to head back!

As a newbie in Wellington I thought this place was great. Food was good and the staff super friendly and accommodating. Granted it was out of season and during the quite period but I think it will be just as good during the peak.

Really slow service makesure you have a full meal before going currently sitting here it's been over a hour fml. Like honestly atleast give us a warning it's going to be 1 hour

Came here on a Sunday
Nice music and a very chilled out atmosphere
I had the mushroom soup and we had a coupon for the 2 4 1 Calamari
My wife had the chicken linguini
Very nice food and friendly service

Great family restaurant. Had our Xmas Social here on Friday and we were all very happy. Our main waitress was very attentive and so were the others. It was a busy night with a couple of groups there. Our appetizers were great. Enjoyed the big fat chicken wings and calamari which tasted devine. For main I had the scotch fillet steak - medium and it was cooked perfectly. One thing I must mention is the delightful ginger beer that the barman conjured up on the spot. It was really nice and tasted like the real thing. So much a few others ordered one as well. Great community bar, will definately be back. Well done Gasworks!

I went to Gasworks in Miramar tonight for a charity quiz night. There was no problem with the event and it was enjoyable.
If it were for the quality of food and the ambience I would rate gasworks highly but unfortunately the service was slow and the bartender quite rude about it. When you are getting drinks between rounds in a quiz you would expect that it wouldn’t take 5 minutes to be served, especially when it’s not busy
Not a place I would go to again.

Food is delish! All you can eat ribs on Wednesdays for only NZD20. Fantastic pork bao and fish and chips! 😀🤗❤️🍸 Great customer service from the team! 10/10.
Michal Gratkowski
Food is deliscious, however the kitchen service is lacklustre as we waited over an hour for 2 burgers... the wait staff were very apologetic and appeared stressed. Perhaps you need to review staffing levels.

A very enjoyable place to spend a few hours on a cold winter Wellington Sunday. Good food, good service. A good location with plenty of parking. Will I go back again? Yes.
Alex Banks
Very friendly service. The waiters and waitress were amazing. Meals came out in no time! Excellent food. Cooked perfectly. Would come here again 100%

Friends enjoy the steak night. Only $20 for a 300+ gms of scotch fillet. Awesome deal and what's more is the steak is cooked to perfection with your choice of red wine gravy, mushroom sauce or butter and garlic. Truely a delight. Sorry Portlander we are regulars too but Gasworks beats your steak.

We have been here twice now and both times been disappointed. The first time was absolutely terrible - we went for the all you can eat ribs, and they were not fresh at all!! Some were stone cold while others luke warm. You could easily tell they were not fresh and had just been microwaved. The second time was just a few days ago and the party of 10, 9 of us got steaks and 7 of them were undercooked. I was happy with my meal the second time I went (hence the 2 star rather than 1), but I was the only person at the table happy with their meal. The medium steaks were raw!! Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt with the second visit, but won’t go back. Customer service fine, but food completely missed the mark!

All you can eat ribs was a great deal, they looked very presentable but quite tasteless to me. I think my boy thought it tasted ok. My mum ordered fish which she enjoyed but it cost $28 for 2 pieces of fish with salad which I think is way too expensive.

My husband and I came here for a date night. The service was great. He had the steak and I had a burger that also had fried chicken on it. Everything was delicious! We'll be headed back for the Tuesday 2-4-1 special.
Brit Abroad
Went on a Tuesday night, they had 241 on mains, so me and my partner had a full rack of ribs each, came with fries and a very tasty side salad with corn chips. Ribs were AMAZING! so tasty and the meat just fell off the bone. Staff were also really nice and atmosphere was great. If I was in wellington again would definitely go, as it looks like they have specials most nights of the week! GREAT PLACE
Whilst the wait was a little long for food and slightly pricey, it was entirely worth it. I enjoyed my introduction to pork ribs and was left wanting more. Will be back!

Quick service to get drinks, and place order. However once food came it all went down hill. Chips were cold, on all 4 meals, next to no bacon on one the burgers, chicken cold on another. Fish was about the only warm thing. When asked for take away box for kids pizza, had to go remind them for it. To eventually come out just in tin foil. Slightly over priced on a few things. If your not concerned about cold/warm food then be great for you. We won't be returning 😊
Leahjane19953
Overpriced food and drinks, been several times in the past, didn't like the people or music either won't go back again after almost getting barred for an incident. The staff could learn to be more tolerant, I also think children have no place in a bar
Titi
The worst experience ever, called more than 18 times to make a booking and every time someone would answer and not speak. Conditions for 2 for 1 wasn't listed on the website and since their phones wasn't working we couldn't find out until we got there which was too late to change our plans since we drove all the way from the city and the rest was on their way. Unhelpful manager (went on a power trip and refused to compromise) literally told us that if we had separate bookings she will purposely make us sit in separate tables far away from each other even though there was 4 large tables that was free.

One female waiter ignored us, had a rude tone and attitude towards us.

To add this horrific experience one of my friends didn't get his meal on time, waited more than an hour to eat, after everyone else finished their meal. Manager didn't think to compensate for this missed order. This should actually be 0 star.

Only one positive thing is the waiter (Pacific Islander male) the manager should learn from him. Our friends tipped him because of his excellent service.

We brought 13 people to your business half of which never been. Horrible experience 🤦🏽‍♀️😡

My family and I went to take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals this Tuesday past. We were told it was a great place but was skeptical because of the ratings and reviews online were not great. We went ahead and tried it out, the service was extremely low. We waited for a long time to get our order taken the place was not busy and we waited about 30 min before a waiter came to our table. Not only that the young lady that waited on us was extremely rude. Below average standard of customer service.
I was close to the bar and overheard a group of young people come in for 2 for 1 and these young people did not shout and were actually trying to reason with the lady at the bar who I found out was the manager. She was horrible to these young people and start shouting at them. I wanted to go up to Manager and make my complaint and tell her how terrible the service is and how she handled herself with those young people. Unacceptable. First and last time I will ever come to this place. The lowest customer service.

Came in on a Tuesday evening for dinner with my family as we had heard it was 241. Have not been in Gasworks for awhile as we moved away so it is a bit far out for us normally! We had people to pick up from the airport to thought we would come in and make the most of your promotion. The food was lovely, I had steak and the kids shared ribs which is always exciting for them as it is a bit of a thrill when they come out on such a big plate and they get to eat with their hands!!

The staff were lovely and accommodating even though my kids can get a bit rowdy sometimes (sorry!). My only negative of the whole night was that you appeared to have some unfavourable customers who were yelling at your staff! I couldn't believe it, they were shouting at whom I presume is the manager about the 241 deal and then proceeded to shout at other staff. I just wanted to say, good on you for how you all dealt with them, they were very unkind to you and you were still pleasant to them, I would have told them to go away and eat elsewhere if they were not happy with the way the promotion is run! We took the opportunity to point their behaviour out to the kids so they never treat people like that in the future so it wasn't all a negative!

Please send my thanks to the chefs, the young brown chap and the pregnant lady (sorry! I don't have a better way to describe you!) for our lovely evening, and my apologies to you for the negative comments from your other customers!

Thank you for a lovely evening, we will be making the trip back to Miramar more often to come dine with you!

PS: PLEASE get apple crumble on your menu! That would have been the best thing to end the evening! Or Sticky Date Pudding! Yum!!

Thursday at 6pm pub was dead quiet ...I should of complained and just got my money back ! I did however leave my details and wrote on their feedback form - stating I wasn't happy with the meal ,burger and chips, but no one has bothered contacting me..
It was greasy warm tasteless and I just gave up! And poor presentation ...
I was tired after work and wanted just a simple pub meal before heading home and couldn't face the hassle.
Not good on any level. Will not be going back...

We came for breakfast today as we have many times in past and enjoyed ourselves (like we always do). We ordered eggs benedict and it was cooked well, bacon was nice and crispy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Coffee was good and also nice and relaxing reading the paper. We arrived at 11:20am and were served by a lovely man. He provided really nice service. Looking forward to trying out the dinner menu sometime.
Jessica Cooper
Disappointed every time we go to Gasworks. The food is badly cooked e.g soggy pasta and dry burger patties, and always lack flavour and seasoning. The staff are generally fine but this is certainly no place to brag about.
Laura Bornemann
Great food and everyone who works there is super nice and polite, would 100% recommend! The feel of the area is also very unique which makes it very nice to eat in! :)

The Gas Works is one of those bars that could do really well in Miramar
I haven't been in there in over a year but we had some friends from out of town visiting over the weekend and when they lived in Wellington they used to love coming in for ribs
In all honesty i told them that the last time we were in the food and service was horrible and that maybe we should head to park kitchen but he was set on ribs
We came in on Friday and the place was busy i was dreading it I thought to myself here we go again
But hat off to your staff and your kitchen crew because that place has done a 360 the food was amazing the service was great the ribs were almost as good as the day you opened
We had a great night was told there was going to be a wait on food which was fine and it came out a little faster than we expected but it was great well cooked good flavours. My steak was a little tuff but well cooked the way I asked for it my wife's chicken salad was amazing just pumped full of flavour and has I said our friends had ribs and smashed them
The place could really do with a bit of TLC maybe just some paint or something some uniforms for your staff maybe so they look like a team
Was disappointed that Heineken wasn't on tap and that the bottles you had were warm because you were having chiller problems
All I can say is great job team we enjoyed it all so much we called in for brunch on the way to the airport on Sunday
Looking forward to our next visit

It's a great place to get drinks, but not food. We have been regulars for about a year now, but the food is inconsistent. One day I'll order an item and I get a huge portion with good sides and the next day I'll order the same thing and it comes on a totally different plate and is half the size with no sides. I recently ordered the bean salad and half of the ingredients that were listed were left out! I felt totally ripped off. There needs to be more consistency in the kitchen. They seem to always be understaffed also which puts a lot of stress on the employees.

Not a good experience at all! Very bland, greasy and over-priced food and bored, inattentive rude staff who have zero respect for customers. Our concerns about food quality were dismissed by the management and wait staff and we were made to feel bad for speaking up. Not good when you are paying so much money for the gasworks. This place is everything that a restaurant should not be the owners do not seem to care. A real shame as it could have been

We went to Gasworks on Tuesday night for a family member's birthday. The staff was welcoming, but advised us that there was a 30 mins wait for food. Which seems odd as the place was probably a quarter full. We order some bubbles for the occasion which the waiter delivered in a very unconventional manner. Champagne flutes were of various sizes & shapes and the waiter didn't bother pouring the wine in the glasses as he honestly told us he didn't know how to do that (I would suggest a more thorough hiring process or maybe some training...). Then the food came (after more than 30 mins btw). I order a rump steak. Probably the toughest piece of meat I had in this century. The meal was lukewarm (the parsley butter coming with it, didn't melt), the chips soggy & the cole slaw on the dry side. Think Sahara dry. Nine of us at the table, I don't think anyone got their meal at the same time, some finishing before other started... One of my friend ordered her steak medium rare, but got it well done. To cap it all, we got billed for items that we didn't order. Gas might work but service & food aren't.
Ohhh Neil
Gasworks for me is average. Went on a Tuesday for all you can eat ribs. 3 had the ribs and I got a dozen chicken wings, just came with mayo and chips and nothing else. They were average, Mayo was not nice at all. Tried done if the ribs and they were OK. Will say the English bar man was very friendly and brought our drinks to the table. Service good.

What a let down! 10 of us came all the way from Karori to celebrate my sister's bday. After few mins of ordering our mains, we were told that they dont have the Pork Belly, which half of us wanted. The Fish was burnt, the chips were so ordinary. Same thing happened for our dessert! Most of us wanted the Brownies, but we were told after ordering that it's not available. The Sundaes came without wafers which was stated on the menu. We told the staff and she didnt even know it came with it! By this time we just got so pissed off that we talked to the Manager who just said sorry and wouldnt even give us a reasonable discount. We will never come back to this place and definitely will not recommend to others!

fish and chips at this place used to be a guilty treat I'd really look forward to - but sadly just had the worst meal I've had in six months in New Zealand. The homemade minted mushy peas were replaced with a mushy salad, that had either sat and wilted in dressing for hours, or was yesterday's. The batter was ghastly and overcooked, the fish way under and didn't taste at all fresh. But the worst thing was the chips - they seemed to be yesterday's roast potatoes sliced up and quickly fried - so super greasy and way overdone. Such a shame ! obviously something radical's changed in the kitchen there, and I certainly wouldn't risk going back.
TheAverageDiner
I found the food here pretty bland and over priced. The presentation of the food was fine however the waiting time for both the initial service and waiting to served meal were both a long time despite the place not being particularly busy.

First visit and last visit. The menu was very limited and not that appealing. The waitress was chatty and friendly but the experience stops there. Our meals took forever to arrive and at the time I counted 6 people in the dining room so not exactly busy. I ordered Rump Steak with salad, fried egg and fries, the steak was tough and chewy and lacked seasoning, the fries were overcooked and the salad was a bunch of salad greens with no dressing and the egg was partly raw I left still hungry. My partner had fish n fries the chips were also overcooked and the batter was thick and floury and uncooked in some parts. almost inedible! Our meals took almost an hour to arrive and after asking our waitress where our meals were she told us the meals were on there way. This took another 20 munities to arrive. When I went to pay the bill I wasn't even asked if we enjoyed our meals but mentioned to the waitress our concerns. She said one if the chiefs didn't turn up, there was no real concern and no follow up regarding any compensation for the one and a half hours we will never get back! Fist and last time visit!

When Gasworks first opened we really enjoyed it and became regulars. The food was good, they had great service, the atmosphere was fun and the location was convenient for us. After a few months the food prices went up and the quality of food went down. Then we started going there less and less. Every now and then we would go back with the hopes of it going back to the way it was before but it's very hit or miss. Sometimes the meal would be ok and other times it would be dry and have no flavour. My daughter loves ribs but once they took their ribs option off the tween menu we had no reason to go back (I'm not paying nearly $30 for a huge stack of ribs when she will only eat 3 or 4). I hope they can get it back up to the standard they had when they first opened.

I'm trying to find what you serve for dinner. I note that you have 15 pages on the website but only page 1 & 6 are shown wine and early arrivals menus(brunch/lunch) Does one have access to the dinner menu on your website?
Also trying to find an easy way to book online. Dont you show a contact via email address?

email: jrgran@gmail.com
kind regards
John Grant

Although the menu is limited we decided to come and skip waitangi weekend lines anyway. The service started a bit slow which was odd because there was virtually no one there. We decided to go for a calamari entree which was deceptively good giving us high hopes for the mains. The fish and chips had to be the worst I've ever experienced in New Zealand, tasting salty as if the fish was fresh out of the water - somewhat reassuring but nonetheless so greasy and flavourless. The vegetable burger was average, the avocado was rock hard and the bun was not toasted and a bit dry. Chips all round were also average, something you'd pay $2 for at a bakery.

Coffee was great.
Would not return. Adam J Middleton

My dad was in town and, being a 'meat and 2 veg' sort of Whanganui man, I was at a bit of a loss as to where to take him for dinner. A friend recommended Gasworks as a pub with good food and beer, so I took a shot and drove out to Miramar. Totally worth it! They had a huge variety of beers for dad, and even offered a low alcohol cider (as I was driving). The food was great- dad had a the pulled pork burger which he loved, and I had the lamb burger which was juicy and a generous size.
I only have 2 criticisms: the 'hand-cut chips' that came with the burgers seemed to be more of the frozen packet variety, but were still fine. Also, we were sat in the front of the bar on a high table and stools which was fine, but would have preferred a lower seat. Didn't even realise there were more tables out the back until I went to the bathroom.
Overall, a great place for a few drinks and a good meal with great service.

We pre-booked a table for 6 (5/9/15).
When we arrived we were shown to our table, and was brought some jugs of water and some glasses. We ordered our drinks, then our entree's and mains.
Our entrees came quite fast. Me and my husband ordered the classic calamari $12 to share, and it was delicious, I was expecting a bit more calamari but it was still good. We got around 8 small pieces.
Our mains took a while coming (or it felt like it) but a staff member did tell us 'don't worry guys, your meals are 2 mins away' they arrived soon after.
I ordered the fish of the day, which was snapper and it came with roast potatoes, caramelized red onion and black pudding with a hollandaise sauce. It was delicious. Well worth the $20. My hubby ordered the same. My son ordered Fush 'n' Chups, which was obviously fish with chips, and mushy peas. It looked yum too.
After dinner we ordered some desserts. It was 3 desserts for $15, so we thought we'd share seeing as there were 6 of us. I ordered a dessert which I cant remember the name of, (like a creme brullee) and omg we didn't notice that the desserts were 'Mini'. Our desserts were the smallest I have ever seen. My son ordered a chocolate fudge, I think it was, and it fitted in the palm of his hand. It was tiny. Hahaha Gave us a laugh I suppose!
The staff were very good and friendly, but we were some cutlery short which we had to ask for, by getting their attention, and they didn't come back and ask us if we were alright with our meals and if we wanted any more drinks. Which I quite like. There was quite a lot of kids in, even when it started getting late (towards 9.30) But I'm cool with kids.
Paying was nice and easy.
All in all, it was a good night. I like the atmosphere and the music style, which was a bit of rock, bit of grunge.
Good night, we may be back in the future.

More of a family restaurant than a bar the Gasworks is a good spot tucked away just inside Miramar hill. Quiet in the afternoons it has free wifi and plugs so you can have a coffee or beer and get some work done.

Lots of different themes over the week and always something on.

Highly recommend the pasta. It comes straight from Bongusto in Miramar, fresh, and is cooked to perfection by a chef who has some skills in the area of Fettuccine and other types.
Lester Chung
Gasworks is a pub/restaurant located in the Miramar district of Wellington. It’s a fairly large restaurant, unusually large i think but there is plenty of seating for large groups. The service was friendly and quick. The food was decent for the type of restaurant and the menu had plenty of choices.

My partner and I went to celebrate my birthday last week (Dec '14).

As we had a reservation, we got taken to our table straight away. The waiter immediately brought us menus and water.

For entrées we ordered the Squid and the Chicken Nibbles, which arrived promptly.

The Chicken Nibbles are served with a couple of Carrot & Celery sticks and with blue cheese dip. Overall, they were very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed them.

The Squid was soggy and had a strong uncooked flour taste. The serving was very small and not enjoyable at all.

For mains, I got the Pulled Pork Burger and my partner ordered the Fish & Chips.

The burger was fantastic. The meat was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the coleslaw was delicious. The chips was also really nice and crunchy.

The fish was incredibly dry and its batter was very thick and not fully-cooked. It tasted horrible. We called the waiter and as soon as we said there's a problem with the meal, he asked, "Is the fish dry?" He apologised, took the meal away, and gave us back the menu to select another dish.

This is where I should mention that on Tuesday nights Gasworks have 2 for 1 main meals offer.

My partner chose the Beef Burger, which arrived very promptly. The waiter confirmed that we won't be charged for that meal without us asking him that. The burger was nice and it came with a very generous size patty and nice cut of bacon.

We drank a couple of beers.

When it came time to pay, the maitre'd had charged for all 3 meals. When my partner disputed it, the Manager arrived to explain that the fish is warehou, which is a dry fish and we shouldn't have ordered it to begin with if we don't like dry fish. He also explained that the fish gets changed regularly, to which we responded that the waiter never informed us what the fish of the day was. He still insisted that all 3 meals are paid for (and handed over a receipt as a confirmation of the total bill), completely disregarding their 2 for 1 deal, which was confirmed at the time of reservation.

It was only when we blatantly refused to pay, when they removed these two meals from the total bill (a difference of over $50!!).

I didn't let this dampen my birthday, but I definitely wouldn't return to their establishment. Common sense and customer service should've prevailed on this occasion.

I do recommend you to read other Zomato and Facebook reviews before you decide to visit this place.

Close to the airport, good food, generous portion sizes! Anyway, i had the rack of ribs, they were really good, but the sauce was a tad tangy. But, other than that everything else was spot on!

I remember a decade ago, in my twenties, when I used to worry about being served in bars. Recently I got a Gasworks reminder when a member of our party of 5, all 21 or older, didn't have an id. We were asked to leave. It was 7pm. On a Sunday. We were all sober. We went elsewhere and had a great dinner. Thanks Gasworks, I won't be back.
Greg Cockerill
Attentive, pleasant staff. Two kids and two adults $130.00 great value. Started with breads and dips - the dips were very nice as was the garlic - could have been more bread as we still had more dip left over. Rib eye steak was cooked very well. My Nachos were good - could have done with some avocado but good all the same (there were a few broken chips - but nothing to get upset about) Good looking menu (the desert menu could benefit from a redesign) Great looking place and as it was Eat all you can Ribs - it was Very Busy!! I will definitely go again.

Service is consistently exceptional.

Been here a couple of times and both have been very average. Tried the ribs special and they were dry, over cooked and barely had sauce on them. The price special is the only redeeming feature, even the free fires with the meal were sparse. At one point the waiter asked if we would like some more (party of 8) and when we left 25 minutes later there were still no sign of them. As this is local to us we thought a second shot is worth a try. Four of us returned to try the steak and it was just as disappointing. Mine was completely overcooked and when the waiter was made aware of this they just smiled and said sorry. Would not go back here unless you want to have a few beers and some snack food.
Kathryn Mackey
Wow. What a place to dine out. Difficult to give it a one. Pricey for terrible food. No mention of specials, overcooked eggs, overcooked steak, undercooked fries and nachos that were cooked 12hours prior to serving. Will be writing a note to the manager.
Paula
We headed down to our local pub to watch the rugby and have a light meal. We settled on the platter which was highly disappointing. For the price of the platter we expected a lot more than a few bits of chicken, deep fried fish & spring rolls (only 4 of each).

Being a local pub we didn't expect a 5 star platter but this made us feel ripped off and disappointed to where we won't order food there again. We have been down here for dinners before and nothing has ever stood out on the menu, so this was our last straw.

Food is over priced for what it is. You can spend the same at a restaurant in the city and enjoy a far better meal. Good for a few beers but that's about it.

I have been to Gasworks a few times now. I've never been wowed by the food or service.
My partner and I went for dinner on Sunday, he.ordered the steak & I the pork.
His steak was ok, he ordered medium rare and got rare. The salad had no dressing on it and the chips were very oily.
My pork was so dry, and the sauce it came with had a rancid flavour to it. I tried to explain this to the waitress who looked at me with a blank look on her face.
The wait staff are not very attentive, when I asked what the fish of the day was she said she would ask, but didn't come back with an answer. 10mins later she came to take our orders so I asked again about the fish, she said she would ask, but I told her not to bother.
This will probably be the last time we have a meal here, which is disappointing as the first meal we had (burgers) weren't too bad. Also the food is overpriced for what you get.

I was disappointed on my meal last night. Meatballs were hard & a little burnt. Not much meat balls on my plate. Didn't taste very good as I could of made better! I expected more from a restaurant! My partner's meal was ok although his pork was a little dry & the apple sauce was like baby food. Garlic bread was shocking! I specifically asked for a jug of water instead I got poured a glass or two of warm water. No ice or anything else. No imagination! My partner ordered a few drinks. Beer & a glass of Jack Daniels. We skipped dessert. Our meal came to $80 which I was so upset about!! I regret going to gas works. I would of been happy just to go to kfc or something.Be full & saved money!! I'm never going here again & wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for the money you pay for!! A big let down!! :(

What has happened to the food at the Gasworks ? It's going downhill so fast, we got undercooked steaks, raw pumpkin and haloumi not cooked, the service staff weren't interested in dealing with our complaint, we were told that's how it comes, Really!!!
We used to be regulars here we will not be returning.

The entrees are a little on the small side for what you pay - ie: $12.90 for 6 shrimps on a teaspoon of sauce and a half a lettuce, with shrimp chips!
The white dip of the dips & breads entree, whatever it is (I couldn't tell) is awfully bitter - off even!
The pork belly is not too shabby!
But the mocktails too small & tasteless for what you pay.
We waited 90 minutes on Quiz night for our entree - almost ate the table! Were offered nothing by way of recompense.
We went back recently for a work do and they had significantly upper their game. It was only AFTER I ordered the beef Wellington that I was told it would take 30 minutes - I went with it anyway and it only took 15, so I got my main the same time as my colleagues got theirs. I thought the bottles of water with apples, lemon, and other herbs in them were a nice touch.

One of my favourite places when i visit my relatives in wellington.
Had dinner there last night, great food, reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Love the decor to, they have tv screens in the toilets, great when there is rugby on!
I had fish n chips, cooked to perfection, will definitely go there again.

Highly recommend! Especially on the night that has all you can eat ribs! Delicious and the staff make it fun by not taking no for an answer and piling more and more onto your plate!! Other all you can eat places I have been to you have to wait ages between ribs but this place constantly has them coming. Other meals we had were also very nice and the staff really made it!

I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch unless your willing to spend a fortune. I took my 3yr old and 7yr old who ordered the fish n chips, nuggets and chips respectively. We were not impressed with the portions that were presented. My 7yr old counted on his small plate 14 chips and asked if they were going to make more. He received 3 strips if fish that were just a bit bigger than normal fish fingers. It probably is great on Ribs night and may have a good dinner menu but I will not have the courage to revisit this place again. Disappointed is putting it very politely.

FOOD Wars
Great place, found the atmosphere and food amazing for a resonable price. You won't be disapointed on the quality and quantity for the price. I can't wait to dine here again as I believe they have a new menu now. Join their club. You get emails about promotions they have and some really good deals and night outs. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to attend any but the deals look great.

Liked the atmosphere. Decoration is nice, food was great (chicken hamburger) and good portion size. Service (except reception guy who made no efforts to welcome us but kept looking as if we were about to rob the place) was good and fast.
Recommended!

I have visited Gasworks 3 times, each time was on a Sunday for lunch. Service was good and the staff friendly. Food was good and their range on the lunch menu is ok. There is good sized tables for larger groups and families if needed.

Popped into the Gasworks for all you can eat ribs and fries last night. Was really impressed with the friendly quick service. The atomosphere was fantastic, it is quite rare to see a restaurant in the burbs full up on a Wednesday night.

For $20.00 you get all you can eat ribs and bottomless fries, the ribs were tasty and kept being delivered to the table at just the right time, fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the centre - perfect. Also had a pint of cider that came in a decent size glass that had been chilled - the perfect addition to the ribfest.

Will be going back for sure, and look forward to sampling the other dishes available, the menu looks great.

Gasworks is a relatively new pub in Miramar with a really pumping atmosphere. The decor looks great and is varied inside, outside and on either side of the bar and restaurant. Even the toilets look good! We were really impressed with the service at Gasworks. On a busy Friday night with functions going on all over the place and a very full bar, the restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu looks impressive, with a range of burgers and gastro pub-style food as well as heart bar snacks available. My partner enjoyed the Gas Burger, with an Angus beef pattie, bacon, cheese and pineapple. I ordered the chargrilled cranberry chicken breast which came with a stuffed potato and a cute little pottle of peas. The key word here is 'chargrilled'; the chicken was so chargrilled that it was tough and dry with the thin cranberry sauce barely able to make an impact. I realise this was probably a casualty of a very busy night and I'd possibly eat at Gasworks again, but I definitely won't be ordering the chicken.

We've dined at Gasworks a few times, always really enjoying the food and the service is excellent.
