Review Cafe Panama - Wellington

Very busy but staff were still speedy with service which is always a plus. Food is amazing, but prefab never disappoints. Fresh produce, amazing flavour balance, quality ingredients, large portions, value for money. Not usually a coffee fan but I appreciate theirs every time.

Two of us arrived here at 12:15pm today on Monday. It’s a big restaurant but all the tables were taken except some chairs at a high table. They have 3 big sharing tables. About 1pm some people were waiting at the door as the place was pretty full. Yes, it is Monday but the amount of people wanting to dine here is quite overwhelming. A very popular place. No wonder they don’t need to open during the weekends. As we expected, the food and service were superb. I had Today’s fish, that was blue cod with a creamy mustard sauce. $30. Delicious. My friend had their salad. $21. It is quite substantial, and she was very happy. To finish our lunch, we shared an almost croissant. Mmm that was so good. She had bottomless filter coffee and I had a café latte. Such a great lunch experience! We totally recommend this place.

We were looking for a place to have breakfast this morning. We got here and we were really surprised by the elegance of the place. We ordered eggs + avocado + bacon / Hallumi + cappuccino + detox drinks ( green and read). Everything was really appreciated - except red detox. Free wifi and parking place not far.. additional good reasons to give it a try 😅! 🇳🇿🥝🙏

This is a masterclass on how to run a cafe! The interior is super cool with expansive seating available. We didn’t have any issues getting a table & felt instantly welcome when we were greeted. The staff exude professionalism and absolutely carve up their role in the machine. It was really impressive. Coffee was 10/10, perfectly balanced and made with care. I had the mushrooms which was a generous serving, succulent & a taste sensation. They sat on a piece of grainy bread with a poached egg on top. As a big cafe head, I was stoked to visit Prefab & highly recommend it to those looking for a great meal out.

Architecturally a beautiful designed space. Large open plan with plenty of seating. Wheelchair and stroller accessible. Washrooms too. Great homemade sourdough breads and they can slice them for you. Service is friendly and helpful. Coffee good and breakfast 😋 yum

Delicious food, I love that the waitress suggested I could get a half serve.

The best coffee in Wellington! Salad was delicious too and service was quick efficient and friendly. A must visit spot.

Great vibes, lots of seating but very busy! It’s easy to see why, the coffee was well made, their food are not too adventurous but that’s not a bad thing, because they just focused on making everything delicious. Their sausage was one of the best I’ve had at a cafe.

A bit loud with music. Avocado was not ripe. Food was decent.

My wife and I love coming here and this time we hadn’t been in for a while
My wife ordered the omelette and I went for the low carb breakfast, we throughly enjoyed it as well as our pot of tea
Cute little cafe with great food at an extremely reasonable price! A little bit hard to discover with it being tucked away on Taranaki St but glad that my friends knew about this place ☀️ The brownies are to die for

Me and my wife love this place. The food is always excellent. In fact, no matter how many times I come here, I always leave saying to myself how great and satisfying the food was. The coffee is first rate, and is one of the best coffee joints in Wellington. Also, if you are someone who enjoys eating gluten free or with having a healthier option, the menu abides. Also, if something isn't gluten friendly, I simply ask and the staff graciously makes a small change to my order to accommodate my request (if possible). The price is also reasonable for the quality of the dishes. My personal favourite dishes are the Grilled Portobello Mushroom Breakfast, shoestring chips, the chicken burger with gluten free bread, and last but not least their mixed berry smoothy (just ask for it).

I was very impressed with the food, the staff and the ambiance. Great upbeat music which set me up for a good day. I will definitely be back for another breakfast wrap! Thanks!

Very rare I say a place is memorable. What Cafe Panama has going for itself, is its genuine homeliness. It's quirks and religious fixations contrast to it's surrounding neighbourhoods extravagant apartment complexes, bustling coffee shop/Fidel Castro memorials and Scandinavian Inspired granite tiled pasta shops, this old-school diner is a delightful pit stop down Taranaki Street and an eye-catching extension to its church. I think it's true that the staff are all a part of the churches congregation, with what I assume the proceeds go back into. The menus and cabinet food are all tasty, fair priced and well catered for. A nice place to bring your family to.

I thank myself every time I come here.
My friend and I walked in here for the first time a few weeks ago not expecting too much as their prices were roughly around the 14 dollar mark. I grabbed the vegetarian breakfast, and my friend had eggs bene w/ bacon. The coffee came out promptly, but the food took a while, and we were both starving.
Wow, it was worth the wait!
Photo speaks for itself, I will make this place a weekly visit!

Went in for brunch on a whim. Great price, great food, great service. Couldn't fault it! I got the pancakes, $13 and it came with all the fixings, four pancakes in the stack, I couldn't finish! My flat mate got bacon and eggs with spinach and avocado. We're real sticklers for our poached eggs, they're a make or break and they were PERFECT! Coffee was great. It was a good atmosphere too, I think the owners are relatively new and it looks like they're slowly making the place their own. Keep up the good work!

Two of us went here at about ten to nine in the morning, we were the only ones there at that stage (though others had just left). Ordered coffee and a bagel.

The coffee arrived promptly and was good, however is took nearly half an hour after the coffee to get the bagel. The bagel was nice and the staff were apologetic about the wait.

I find it really hard to get a consistently good long black, but I've been coming here and it's always spot on. The staff are really friendly and I love the interior with the plants and unique artwork. The food is really nice as well, I like the homemade corn beef ...super reasonable prices too...one of my favourite Wellington spots !

Went through for breakfast with no real expectations; other than to deposit some decent grub and allow a bit of caffeine to wash away the scent of a long night.

WOW!

Breakfast came fast with a smile and coffee... Well alot of notable establishments as corner stones for the devoted, but this chick knew how to make a brew.

If you don't know now you know!
Get on it and experience a little secret right next to the church.P.S, check the daily menu specials board for the jungle chicken curry- get you sorted real quick!

The first thing that comes to mind is value you for money. You only have to look at the price of their lasagna, $9.00 for a slab the size of a brick.

Its not a flash cafe, but it is warm, foods good (not great, but homely), the coffee's good (and cheap, still under $4.00) and the staff are friendly.

What more do you need in a cafe.
