Review Wholly Bagels And Pizza Thorndon - Wellington

Shrinkflation has hit the bagel market with a boom crash and it for a fact makes me wanna cry, love wholly bagels w my whole heart but the regular bagels are now more similar in size to the children's ones. :'( (If you bring back the phat bagels and up the prices I wouldn't be mad) <3

Best bagels out. Still no where compares to a wholly bagel. Heaps of choice on the menu. A must have if you’re in welly

Wholly Bagels has always been a classic favourite since high school. I'm a regular whenever I'm in the office in Thorndon and always aim to order a chocolate chip bagel with strawberry and chocolate cream cheese.

we’ve been coming here at least once a month for yearssss love it so much so delicious very affordable

First time here, we really enjoyed it. Great seating and awesome music. We usually go to the one in the Hutt but thought we'd venture out.

Amazing service by the team, freshly made breakfast bagel and a good coffee to go with it

This is always a place to go for the good Bagel 🥯 and pizza around Thorndon 😋

I personally love the veggie on rock salt bagel. Bummed that they don’t have a central city location anymore. I reckon they’re better than Best Ugly.
Mariana Palmer
The bagels are delicious and available in many flavours. I go here whenever I get the chance.

Great value, service is always faster than I expect, honest and tasty! Haven't tried their pizzas yet, but the coffee and bagels are great.
Andre Mendes da Costa
They not only make great bagels but also great coffee!

Love wholly bagels and grab some anytime we are in Wellington. Marked down because the vibe is missing. Also, ordered a plain bagel with butter to takeaway. Got to the car and the butter was in a takeaway container but no implements to butter it. Had to use my finger. Why couldn't they just butter it?

So nice to pop in for a coffee and a bagel! Also love their pizzas too!

These days it’s hard to find a place that makes decent food and is good value for money - but these guys tick that box! Fresh, quality bagels with options ranging from classic & simple through to gourmet creations. Highly recommended.

You talk about friendly. These people working here are super awesome, super lovely and super beautiful. They ask about your day, your evening even your nights. Jokes.. lovely place to visit for a coffee n bagel n pizza n a friendly chat. Try go there every day people. I know I do.

If you don’t mind eating with birds and noisy children then this is the place for you. Never once seen the staff smile and dirty plates stack up on tables for a long time before they are removed. I can’t complain about the bagels I have had there I just wish they would ease up on the cream cheese.

Delicious bagel here with cream cheese and smoked salmon on a gluten free bagel. Staff were accomodating as I had my laptop out and charger whilst doing work.

Delicious pizza, great service. Had a New York sized pizza with 1/2 and 1/2 toppings - fantastic! Wedges were a bit undercooked and underwhelming.

Popped in for a lite spot of morning tea and was pleasantly surprised @ the wide range of bagels on offer. These guys even do pizza, which was great for us as they were nice and close to where we were staying. Had a mini salmon and a nice strong trim flat white. WB's in Thorndon's premise feels a little run down and tired, but the service is great.

Terrible bagels. Had the breakfast one before we head out of Welly. It was bland with globs of dry egg and heavily processed bacon. Chose the jalapeno cheddar and could barely taste any heat. If you advertise something hot, then make it bloody hot!

This isn't regarding Bagels - just their Pizza.Closing at 8 PM while catering to a pizza market is insanely too early in the evening.Their online ordering system is confusing. If you select a time for pickup - they won't honour it and will start making pizza right away.Want it delivered? Delivery threshold is $75 - far too high.Pizza recipe has changed - give this side of their business a pass. They may be good at bagels, but their insanely small hours, only certain day of the week, "when it's gone it's gone" attitude towards their customers is infuriating.Their customer service was the worse standout - "Must have been your fault" mentality and just plain rudeness was shocking. They literally argued with me about whether or not I selected a pickup time - the answer was yes - and they argued about it with me for a good 5 minutes before giving up.

I had numerous wholly bagels on my last trip down to wellington, they fail to disappoint!! Had the turkey and cranberry, smoked salmon, and a few breakfast ones too! I wish you guys had a joint in Auckland, we need you!

My partner said 'I fancy Pizza for lunch, one of those wholly pizza ones'... all I heard was 'pizza' and I was in.

We popped into the Thorndon branch after shopping and chose the Large 'Sal' ($17.00) - Double pepperoni, Italian fennel sausage and cheese.

It was ready in about 5 minutes and we took it home to eat in front of the TV.

It was a simple pizza but incredibly tasty. Small glistening pools of oil from the cheese, but the right amount - and the flavours complimented each other perfectly.

It made me happy!

Service was good, friendly and helpful. Opted for a couple of everything bagels (seems like the recipe might have changed), garlic and herb cream cheese and a Cinnamon Raisin Bagel for something sweet. Bagels were ok, would try a different one next time though as I think the recipe has changed a little, maybe.... The Garlic and Herb cream cheese was pretty nice. The Cinnamon Raisin Bagel was a bit average, had a really nice smell but not a lot of flavour to go with the smell... Overall not in a rush to head back.

In the name of bagel research, I succumbed to two such products from Wholly Bagels, purported to be as good as the ones in New York. Alas I found this not so, the bagels a little doughy, heavy and chewy without the heavenly fluffiness of the ones I so fondly remember from H&H Bagel

Don't know what other reviews are on about have lived in the area for years and head here once every couple of weeks, great fast tasty food.

Not fine dining, but its a busy cafe.

Will be back.

We always used to come here for Friday lunch - there are now new owners and dead stuffed cats at the door - yes, you read correctly - to keep out the pigeons - not successful as they were flying around the inside with sparrows as well - like an aviary. The service was as slow as a wet week and then we waited for ages for our soups - finally I enquired and were told that they are just defrosting them - they arrived and were not chicken but ham and potato - I did comment and got offered another one - not thanks - no time - wanted to be home for Christmas! It is not what it used to be and is a frustrating and badly run outlet.

I called three different stores trying to get pizza delivery and none of them would do it.
Every store I called told me to ring another store which they promised would deliver, but none of them did.
When I asked why they advertised delivery if they were refusing to do it, they guy on the phone was super rude.
Definitely am never going to bother calling them again.

The bagels are great - the above rating is for the service and the pizza.

Counter service are generally friendly. My issue is with the one person who seems to be assembling all the bagels during lunch hour. This creates what I feel to be an unnecessary delay. Reallocate staff to this area, or get more staff.

Atmosphere - there are also screaming children here every time I come. A good family type place to dine in, but not quiet.

Pizza - was looking forward to trying this. Unfortunately there was no pepperoni whatsoever on my New Yorker (which is meant to have double pepperoni). If I wasn't with colleagues I would have complained.

Their pizza is the best we've had in New Zealand. Really good and doesn't taste like its out of the freezer with few scraps thrown on from off the floor - not that I'm suggesting other pizza places do this, but it tastes like they do.

They try with their service but struggle when busy.

I agree with the other reviews - they are too highly priced for what they are considering the size. For like a dollar more you could get a cooked meal!!
OrangeHorse
Nice bagels, made fresh, and quick service. But rediculously over priced for what they are, and pretty small!
Lee
Great bagels but they are sooo expensive now.
I mean - nearly 9 dollars for a Pilgrim. I used to go regularly but only very occasionally now. Just cannot justify paying that much for a bit of boiled bread,ham/bacon,tomato and squirt of mayo !

Biggest pizza in town and they are delicious. You can feed a small family with the new yorker size. My fav Harlem Hustle with parma ham.
Leigh
Fantastic lively, family friendly atmosphere!! Friendly and smiley employees with fab customer service! Reasonable price! Great coffee! Indoor and Outdoor seating! Love it!
