Review Customs By Coffee Supreme - Wellington

Dallas Rogers
This is a fantastic cafe with excellent food and coffee. The long black was top quality, slightly short on the pour and full of flavour... yum! The avo on toast was great too. They have a range of little goodies to nibble on too, including their top shelf almond croissants. I love the atmosphere of this place too, the interior design is awesome, and it's popular... there's been people waiting outside at 730am waiting for the door to open the last two days - I've been there too 😄 This place is a keeper.

Best coffee we’ve had in NZ! The caramel banana toast was also delicious and perfectly sized for a quick morning bite.

Absolutely incredible. Kudos to the staff, they are absolutely on top of what is a very busy coffee spot! Caramelized banana butter toast? Genius! Beautiful coffee too. And the dogs that come in and out are always a bonus feature of a coffee spot!

This was a very cute coffee shop in Wellington. My flat white was very good. I also got an Apple strudel which was delicious. It is a small space but they make the most of it. The staff is also very friendly.

Amazing food! The tuna toast and avocado toast are some of the best item-on-toast food products I've had the pleasure of trying. The apple fritters are light and sweet, I demolished mine in about fifteen seconds. Coffee is decent for New Zealand. Funky retro atmosphere.

After the New York Times complimented Customs last year, I had to see for myself. And it WAS good. The service was as good as the coffee. It has the same cosy vibe that its predecessor, the Milkcrate had. But there are at least a half dozen good coffee places nearby, so what makes it so special? The answer is in getting everything nuanced right. Location, coffee temperature, smiles, space for pets. But that doesn't mean you won't have a wonderful wakeup somewhere else.

Wonderful and expertly made coffee and a super lovely team who helped us with purchasing beans to go. We didn’t grab any food and disappointed we didn’t as it looked delicious!

Most delicious coffee & spot in Wellington right near Cuba street

This place was amazing! We got the Cold filter coffee with the “naughty” milk and it was to die for- especially on a hot morning. All of the toasts look amazing- especially the fruit toast and the avocado toast with the lab eh and the chili coriander oil, which is what we ended up getting. The staff was super friendly- they went above and beyond for everything and even brought extra chairs outside to us (without us even asking) when they saw we were waiting for a seat to open up with the dog. Definitely recommend!

Come here for a fresh long black. Their coffee feel fresh. It's really good to take the outdoor seating in a good sunny day, while looking at the crowd of Ghuznee st and cuba st, with a sip of cappuccino!

Good donuts, great coffee. Nice relaxed atmosphere perfect place to meet a friend or get some work done

Quirky and fun feeling with great flat white

Been in quite a few times, giving it a chance for the last three times I was in because I love supreme coffee.. But one particular staff member isn't very nice and have often seen them be rude to customers behind their backs, and to myself. Friends avoid going in because of this staff member.

Flavoursome coffee with thoughtful staff and interior.

Serves some of the best coffee in wellington, good donuts too.

I was excited to try coffee in Wellington and find out for myself weather auckland or wellington did the best coffee and hands down Wellington won this round. This artsy coffee shop although small has a lot to offer. This ginger and rhubarb donut was to die for, coffee on point but the cheese toast with dill and pickle stole the show for me

Came here on two separate days and loved both times.
Coffee was great and I had one of their sandwiches too. The bread was fluffy and the filly was seasoned really well. Simple but good!
The other time was to get the little donut co donut and OH MY GWAD it was good!
Crispy, sugary outside and fluffy and goofy chocolate chilli filling that’s actually spicy.
The staff here are lovely and the atmosphere of the cafe is so relaxed I really enjoy just sitting here.

I love supreme coffee, so much that I only purchase supreme coffee bean and drink supreme coffee at home.

Walk past this place and decided to give it a go 2 days in a row. First day I had the filter coffee and cold filter for the second day.

The customer service I received weren’t that pleasing, the staff seems unwelcoming and no smile at all. Not impressed since it wasn’t busy at all.

The price for the coffee is ok.

If you like supreme coffee I would suggest to give it a go but I hope the customer service would improve

Dude I'm such a fan of whoever chose the location of this place, Milk Crate hanging out next door then BAM, in comes Customs and just destroys it aye. I'm one of those guys who likes to look like I know what's up when it comes to coffee, but just between us I'm honestly so stupid. Seeing all the coffee on the wall lets me take people in here and be all 'oh don't worry about that, but when you get a chance you have to try the *insert random name here* it's actually amazing. I basically have Customs to thank for my social status. But I have no friends. Wait, is that Customs fault? Did Customs craft my surly disposition? I'm still gonna give them 5 stars because that *insert multi-syllable coffee name here* is to die for.

Great fit out, great location. The beer selection is solid. Food as expected - nice bar snacks fairly priced. Very tidy. Staff are professional and well presented

Obsessed with this place!!!! Needs a bigger space so it can be enjoyed more. They make the best cold filter coffee in Wellington, possibly ever, and their donuts are to die for. Plus, staff are lovely!

Arguably the best single origin coffee in town, Customs offers a unique and stylish experience. Baristas are always friendly and quick to recognise regulars. Donuts from Little Donut Company are to die for and a perfect pairing with a freshly brewed filter. A must visit for coffee lovers!
Josh
Coffee and donuts, the way to my heart. Down to earth vibe and a great place to stop off. Definitely worth visiting, the baristas know their stuff.

Highly recommend.

The perfect lunch. $12.

Two pieces of Leed st Bakery toast, with a spread of Labneh, perfectly sliced avocado, with a sprinkling of chopped chives, sesame seeds, salt. Served w a lemon wedge. đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

The 1950s decor is cool, the clientele looks even cooler and range from stylish grandmas to uni students. The staff are friendly, attractive and lovely to talk to.

When Customs Instagram their first morning coffee, Wellington’s young coffee fraternity come running. Customs Brew Bar is a sanctum for coffee lovers across the capital. Pretenders will be caught, but respected and welcomed as newcomers to the espresso temple. Customs is from a new sect of cafĂ© in Wellington, ones almost solely focused and committed to coffee. Food is a far second to the care and attention paid to the coffee, which can also be brought in its pre-liquefied state. With impressive detail provided on the origins of your coffee beans and stunning customer service from the Brew Bar’s Barristers promising coffee “any way you want it”, their coffee sets an incredible bar. The detail and attention paid to every step of this focused and elegant cafĂ© is hard to rival, from the information provided about the origins of the bread served at Customs (just down Lead Street) to the usable wifi, multi-national coffee beans and homely magazine/phone charger cabinet, the Custom Brew Bar is a stunning tribute to Wellington’s favourite drink.

A very cute cafe with a specialist interest in the sale of coffee - both liquid and solid. Decor is atomic age 1950s modernism decorated with caffeine paraphernalia, a shelf of vinyl which I take to be decorative, a small selection of fashionable mags - "monocle" for the well heeled urban intellectual, "damaged goods" for surfers who want to look at the pictures and, of course, a copy of "kinfolk".

We went for brunch yesterday after looking through the good design shop next door.

The staff / baristas know their beans and the coffees generated by the la marzocco were excellent - very well made and with interesting profiles - Brazilian/Nicaraguan.

We also had the fruit bread with salty butter and the toast with almond butter and banana.
Fruit bread is from whitebait's baker - a brilliant tangy lemony chewy slab, scented with aniseed and soaked in butter - superb.
The toast was a chewy gluten rich slab from Leeds street, buttered with butter, then with the interesting almond butter/banana topping - not overwhelmingly moreish, slightly dry in the mouth but interesting and at times that's what you want.

I like specialist shops, and this ĂŒber cool little cafe with minimalist menu and modernist decor is just that. Its certainly in my top three Wellington cafes.

I didn't really think coffee and toast could be anything that spectacular, but I was definitely wrong!

The coffee here is probably some of the best I've had in Wellington. And the toast was delicious! Such a nice snack to go with the coffee. The bread was so fresh and tasty, I love thick gourmet bread. I had the fruit bread and salty butter, which was delicious! Also love the retro vibe, really cool little place.

Will definitely be back again!

Nice white coffee as always under supreme brand. Most important they do pullover for Single origin coffee, such a shame the Good One has been shut down in Auckland.
Biohazard
Consistently perfect coffee - Black, white, single origin, specialty blends.. Friendly knowledgeable staff and a few food options if you want a bite. The house-made 'Nutella' toastie with banana is delicious but their grilled cheese toastie is my favourite.

Customs is my local.

You'll find me here most mornings - either typing out an article for work or just grabbing takeaways.

The Fetco is an amazing brew - for those who don't normally go the Filtered route, I still highly recommend Fetco - it tastes nothing like the typical American filter you'd find at Starbucks or similar.

They also really know how to make a great white coffee. When i order a Flat White, the espresso to milk ratio is near heavenly. The milk is always perfectly steamed, to a point where it's sweet and never too hot. My mark of a good coffee is one that doesn't need sugar - and even when I have a Long Black from Customs, I have never needed sugar.

Also - their Toast and Grilled Cheeses change lives. I'm not joking - worth the cost - I recommend the Cinnamon Sugar Toast, Almond Butter & Banana Toast or the Grilled Cheese with pickle.

This is my top coffee house in Wellington. I'm here at least once every weekend. The staff are super friendly and the beans are fresh. Whatever you're into, Customs will be all over it!

recommended by friends for several times, but it disappointed me in my first came. I ordered a trim cappuccino, one of their staff give me a flat white and insisted it's a cappuccino.......Am I look like an idiot?

Delicious coffee in the shiniest sunshine. Beautiful cacti and beautiful barista. All of the best things. Friendly service, didn't try their food but eh.

This place has the entire package. Coffee, food, service and ambiance all done well. It was the place I frequented most when living in Wellington.

They have a simple food menu with some toasties, sandwiches and baked goods. Scones are from Leeds Street down the road. Delish.

The interior is very chic and simple. Wooden pallets and little square tiles. It's very retro, 80's house vibe. Both a chalkboard menu and a peg board menu. One for their coffee offerings the other for their drinks and food menu.

Whenever you visit be sure to expect service with a smile. The baristas are great, engaging but not over the top. The place is quite small but it gets you engaging in conversations with them sometimes. They make you feel comfortable and act like they're you're friend. I loved it.

And they have a sufficient amount of coffee enough to suit different pallets. It ranges from easy to drink standard tasting coffees to more interesting and fruitier ones. For a time they also carried a few Geisha's which was always such a treat.

It's definitely on my top 5 list of reasons I miss Wellington..

Lovely coffee this morning, Guatemalan 3 bean blend. Love the approach to coffee these guys take, also love the attitude to customers. Definitely worth a visit if you are on a coffee crawl.

No trip to Wellington is complete without buying some coffee beans to take home. I went to Customs for breakfast and ordered the toast with housemade chocolate hazelnut spread and banana and the V60 with Colombian beans. The barista was very knowledgeable and friendly. Why aren't more baristas friendly? While eating my delicious toast another customer came in and starting chatting to the barista about different beans and which is the best for different methods of coffee brewing. I jumped into the conversation and learnt a lot. I ended by purchasing a bag of Costa Rican beans to take back to Auckland. Thanks Customs Brew Bar!
