Review Aroy Express - Wellington

Went to Aroy x Origami an hour before they closed and the staff were very friendly. They let us know before we ordered and didn't rush us as we were eating. The food came out really quickly (as always) and everything had really nice flavours.

Good food for a good price. We got a green curry (medium) and a basil chicken. Both came with rice and some vegetables. It was a really good size for the price. And very tasty too. I only tried a little bit of the green curry because I can't handle hot food very well, but it was really creamy and I could smell the coconut cream/milk in it. It was very nice despite the heat.

I've been really struggling to find a perfect Thai Takeaway ever since coming to NZ, but this place was the biggest surprise. The duck was unbelievably tasty, would definitely come here again. The only issue I had was the portions were a little smaller than some other Thai places, but this is easily rectified as you can add more meat to your meal buy paying a small amount. Great place!

Food Taste great, waiting time was reasonable 8-9minutes. Prices just bit above average pricing for the food but then again everything in Wellington is getting expensive. I asked for no spicy for 2 dishes, 1 was given spicy. 4 out of 5

Seats no more than 4 people comfortably, possibly 5-6 with a squeeze but I don’t recommend. Good for people eating alone as they have tables for 1-2. Cheaper than its Cuba st alternative as the portions are slightly smaller. Great food !

Tasty, fresh Asian food (with a combination of Thai and Japanese influences). Aroy x Origami is good for a quick place to stop and eat on Courtenay Place, or takeaway if you prefer to eat at home. The decor is basic, but clean. But you didn't come here for the architecture, right?

Really enjoyed our dine in meals tonight. Lovely Surprise and reasonably priced. We had the Roti and satay sauce which was beautiful, light and crispy and the crispy pork and bok choy. I highly recommend eating here.

Cheap and cheerful. This is the perfect place to grab a quick takeaway that tastes good. Highly recommended the tom yum soup. Portions are good but the spicyness can be a bit on the mild side though.

Best Pad Thai in this hemisphere. So good that I don’t even know what any other places Pad Thai taste like. When you find something good, don’t give it up right? Their chicken fried rice, chicken satay and roti chenai are also killer. Lovely staff too ☺️

One of my favorite places to eat. My favourite food there is the soybeans. I never get sick of them... Love visiting this place with my husband and daughter...

Great meal for price. (Pad Thai takeaway). Tasted great, and more than enough for leftovers the next day! Recommend.

Delicious Asian food especially the crispy pork. One of my favourite places for lunch or dinner and they happily substitute rice for steamed veges.
Daniela von Arb
One of my favorite places to get a quick and delicious meal. I love the red and massaman curry.

Not the best atmosphere, but cheap and delicious

Had a delicious duck noodle soup tonight for $14.50. Broth was full of flavour, there was a generous amount of duck, veges & noodles. My mate had a won ton noodle 🍜 soup and a roti with satay sauce. All Aroy restaurants seem to be pretty consistent with price, portion, taste & price. Check them out - def recommend 👌🏽

Went to the Arroy in courtenay place many times as i really one particular menu, CRISPY PORK WITH BOYCHOY (chinese vegetable). This is the name they put on the menu as well " CRISPY PORK WITH BOYCHOY". Every time i go they always mix it with cabbage (a way to save money). So i politely asked one worker they might as well change the menu name from to include cabbage. Then he said they they have ran out of bokchoy today. Then i told them him that this is the five consecutive time that i religiously counted that i got cabbage. So Arroy, be honest with customers, if you serve something different every time, please change the menu as well as the price as i know cabbage is a lot cheaper to a bokchoy.

I like Aroy. There is a comprehensive menu on offer but when I visit I mostly order the Crispy Pork with Bok Choi because I really enjoy it.

First visit to this outlet. Not a great ambiance but I wasn't there for that.

The dish was very similar tasting to other Aroy branches. It was a bit more peppery but it was fine. Just something I noticed. Not as much 'sauce' either, which I would have preferred but it wasn't an issue overall.

The portion was big, with plenty of crisp pork. Lean too. Some pieces had crackling.

Bok Choi was nicely cooked too.

Very enjoyable.

We went here for a cheap dinner when we saw dinners were only just dear of $10. The food came almost instantly which was convenient but a bit worrying. The pork I ordered was almost completely fat, couldn't finish it. Tried my mates noodles and they were rubbery. All up waste of money and won't be coming back.

Popped in for an early "Thai" dinner. Service was fast, even if my main was delivered before my starter.
The food 'looked' Thai but the taste??? Not Thai at all.
I was asked if I'd like it medium. Sadly it has no spice taste to it at all.
Curry Puffs look ok but not authentic.
Quite disappointing overall.

Good restaurant if you are looking for great portion and good Thai food..

The location is central and the place is okay.. It is designed minimalist and comfortable to eat.

My favourite is the chili chicken and phad Thai. One of the best in town..

The place is okay, nothing too authentic and superb about it but still good enough and will definitely come back :)

Suggested by a friend who's a local. We got some takeaways. I love that their menu is so different from the Thai restaurants in auckland.

What we ordered:
1.) chicken pad Thai
2.) garlic & pepper pork
3.) chilli chicken

The quantity of pad Thai was big. I couldn't finish it and it was nicely cooked. We enjoyed our meal.

Fast service and great food. Staff happy to modify dishes. The crispy pork and bok choy was very good. Casual, quick, cheap, tasty. No complaints.

Excellent food and service. The food we had was so tasty, want to go there again. We were in Wellington for the weekend and loved this restaurant. It was clean and the decor was very chic. Highly recommended to all!!! Cheers

I've had meals here 3 times. The environment was good, food came fast and quite delicious. I just don't like the fish cakes there.

This is cheap, fast Thai cuisine at it's best. I was quite a regular here, sampling a number of different dishes. I like my spicy food, and they are more than happy to oblige when the get a request for a hot dish. The stuffed mushrooms and tasty little balls of goodness - love them. It's definitely not gourmet, and probably not something for a first date - but I sure am going back.
