Lovely coffee. Decent menu and the kitchen is quick and efficient, but also a good selection from the cabinet if you need to grab and go. Eggs Benedict was simple and delicious. A cozy busy vibe in the morning but still enough space for the takeaway crowd to get through without trouble. Staff were great, seem to be really happy here and they get the job done quickly while still being friendly. Good job guys đź‘Ť

Awesome. Had the big Breakfast at $25.50.
The food looked clean and fresh and tasted the same way with every mouth full as for the pastry it was to die for with pastry crum all over the front of my top. Who cares when the food tasted this good.
Maybe the Breakfast chefs from Old Baileys should go up the Terrace to the Colonial Cafe and get a lesson on how to respect the food your handling for your customers.

Great breakfast. Great Coffee. Stopped at this gem every weekday morning on a recent business trip and had a few different menu items, but the colonial poached eggs were just plain perfect. Also appreciated that the servings were the right size and the prices were very good for a downtown business district. Will certainly return on the next visit.

I have tried this cafe a few times and came in again the other week, I found the place heaving ! was very busy but the service still fast. Great coffee and fantastic food, I will definitely come back.<br/>Recommend the daily specials for great meals at half the price of other cafes

I paid $15 for a "pesto salad" which was tiny little pieces of chicken cooked and added a salad which was a bought bag of salad from the supermarket and added a cut up tomato and cucumber! did not taste pesto at all... VERY disappointing!

Recommend for the new guests<br/>Briliant friendly services as well as the coffee.<br/>They are always busy in the morning tea and hardly to get the seat at lunch time if you come in as a group accepted if you have make a booking before hand.<br/>Nice berries and bananas smoothies.<br/>They have a awesome warm chicken salad and soup of the day.<br/>I have a loyalty with this cafe for 2 - 3 years now.<br/>Also reasonable prices for CBD areas.

Consistently good food and always busy. The ham or bacon eggs benedict are cooked to perfection. They serve seriously good shakes here, and the coffee is OK, although I am from Melbourne and I tend to judge places harshly for coffee in comparison. In reality, I would have given this place 3 and a half stars rather than 4, but 3 seemed too harsh.

Cheap and friendly. Sometimes my orders have been mucked up, but they have always been apologetic! Good range of lunch food at very reasonable prices, and a relaxing atmosphere - kinda feels like a friend's flat than a swanky cafe.

I had been here a number of times and they constantly would get my coffee order wrong, ie not putting sugar in , making it with trim milk instead of full so stopped going. <br/>Thought I'd go the other day and give them one last chance. Again they got my order wrong , no sugar. I also had a blueberry muffin , quite possibly the worst I have ever tasted. Guys try eating your own food - the muffin was like a brick, very doughy and stodgy - disgusting. Won't be going back again.

Extensive menu of delicious items - the only place I have managed to find chocolate iced custard squares in Wellington city!<br/><br/>The best thing about Colonial Cafe is that it doesn't try to be up-market or cater for some niche consumer. It's a classic kiwi-style cafe, the sort Wellington used to have.
