Review Beehive Cafe - Wellington

Ron
We stopped in here for a quick lunch and we were really pleased. The spice level on the food was perfect. It is a simple Malaysian restaurant but I would definitely come back. The decor is simple but you come here for the flavors - you won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and we got our meal in a reasonable amount of time for the large group that we were.

My 1st time to visit Beehive Cafe coz am meeting a friend who works around and we have lunch. We had Nasi Lemak and so tasty, rich in sauce, friendly staff and nice location. It would be nice to be back again and can be recommended to more of our friends. 💛

Cheerful and very quick service, reasonable prices, and a Malaysian menu that made us very happy: made to order roti, perfectly cooked meats, crisp salads, and tasty veges. We will come back anytime we visit Wellington. Thank you!

A good place to have a quick and delicious lunch. The curry with roti was splendid. The place is clean and can be quite busy during lunch. People can buy also roti to take away. Will definitely come back again.

I had a curry with a roti for $9.50. Pretty good value, tasty food, 5-6 bits of meat. I enjoyed my meal.

Food is great. One of the best roti in Wellington. The environment is pretty lacking but you get that when they haven't changed it for 15+ years 🤷

This place has a relatively large range of food at reasonable prices and it's prepared in a very timely manner. One of my regulars.

Fabulous food, very popular for lunch with staff from neighbouring businesses.

Lunchtime cheapish and cheerful curries. Some support of Tulsi curry house relationship?

I specifically ordered a beef doner kebab (spelt donor at this place) so I could have something easy to hold and eat on the run. My expectation was for it to be wrapped in tinfoil as they normally are. I was served it in a folded over piece of sweet, thick roti. It was cold. It was impossible to wrap it and pick it up, so I had to high-tail it back to the staff tea room to chuck it on a plate and tuck in with cutlery. The reason why doner kebabs aren't served in roti is because they are sweet, which makes them taste odd. It just doesn't work! India shouldn't be mucking around with Turkey! It was a waste of $12! Never again.

Hands down the worst cafe I’ve ever had the experience of going to.
I went early to beat the lunch rush, and they still managed to screw up my order. I was the only one in here. They then realized I was sitting there waiting and then proceeded to put my toasted sandwich in the mircrowave to warm it up. I went here last week during lunch time and this place is in chaos. I will never return

This place is disgusting!!! Never gonna eat back here. Ordered for a chicken mee goreng but served with no chicken. They took it back and added a shreded chicken!

Ordered the roti and curry lunch special. The chicken curry was small but quite tasty, the roti was the thickness of a car mat and had a similar taste. I wouldn't be so harsh if they didn't pretend to be roti specialists.

The menu is very misleading. I think they have put another cafe's menu to their own. Page 2 to 4 is not beehive cafe menu. All they have is curries. Roti is nice though.

Reading the reviews here, I don't know what went wrong with my experience at Beehive cafe! The staff were absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. My curry was too spicy for me and the staff noticed that I was uncomfortable, came out and changed it without me having to ask. They even gave me a mango lassi for free in case it was still too spicy. The only let down was that the curry that I ordered was awful. Gluggy and lacking in any kind of flavour and at $15, it's on the pricey side for a curry.Looks like I should go back and give it another shot because the staff really were amazing.

Had the egg roti, while my better half had the pancakes with banana and Canadian bacon, mango lassi. Great food and service and friendly staff that introduced me to the cook at Higher Taste (when we asked where to get dosas).

The beehive cafe is very close to my work and visit often. Although the building itself is not very welcoming, the food and the price are excellent - recommend to all

Rubbish. Took a couple of friends there as a "lets try this place". Was overcharged .50c for the food, the curry was full of bones... I do not mean just large bones but small fragments and sharp pieces appx 1" long. Asked about it and the chef came out and basically treated me as though I was stupid and shouldn't be complaining. Found the lady who I paid with rude also. Will not be returning.

Beehive Cafe, I have lunch here regularly. The standard of food served is outstanding. They offer an excellent range of cabinet food and really fresh salads which change everyday. There is always a soup of the day and a different hot dish as well. Today I had a chicken curry with rice and a side of salad, for good measure! yesterday it was beef lasagna, they were both divine. The mix of flavours always amazes me, and yet it's still possible to taste the different fresh herbs and spices which have been added in each dish. They jump out.
The quality of the food is surpassed only by value for money, which is great. I can't speak highly enough of this eatery. You should go there tomorrow! It's always busy, what a good sign.
