Review Mint Cafe - Wellington

Marama
Great friendly service, I ordered the avo smash! 😋 Very delicious, I'd definitely order it again. Coffee was good. Shame it's so noisy, big and spacious (says someone who hates loud small tight spaces in cafes lol) but with it being so open it lacks comfort and ambience. However this wouldn't stop me re-visiting I'd just use it for casual occasions.

I enjoy going to Mint Cafe, It is always a very nice service, the staff is friendly, and there is always a smile for the customers. The food is delicious, my partner and I enjoy the Eggs Benedict and I love the Sirloin Steak. Great place, with yummy food, and really nice people. We definitely will come back.

We had a delicious outing, coffee and a bite to eat. Homemade sausage rolls... the best ones I've had in a long time. So delicious that I had a takeaway of two for later on. Crispy hash browns with bacon, and tomato, avocado and hollandaise sauce. We will definitely be back to try the menu. Chatting to the woman behind the counter, they had not long taken over the business. Very nice dining experience, we wish you good will and a thriving business, cheers

Absoluty superb, the bread was divine, the bacon and eggs I've been waiting all week for some so good. The banana smoothie was great and was awesome to see a metal straw for a change. The French toast was to die for.. great service, clean facilities and a clean shop.. keep up the great work...

Being vegetarian, I ordered a veggie burger with snicker shake. It was delicious. Crispy patty with full of flavours. Really enjoyed the meal. It was a busy period during brunch but service was on point and the meal arrived after a reasonable waiting time. Highly Recommended :)

Love this place. I live in the city but love to come out here regularly for brunch. So many choices and good prices. Great service and nice and spacious. I hate places that are super crowded. ♥️ 😋

My experience eating here was so delightful. I ordered the Mexican quesadilla and oh my gosh it was amazing!!! The cheese was sooooo perfect and yummy! And the flavouring was so on point! The side salad that comes with it is just so perfect and it’s definitely the right thing to put on the same plate. Also the service here was 10/10! The server was so nice and they brought the food out fast. My friends and I shared some chips, and they were so good we had to get two plates of it!😂 I’m definitely coming here again.💯

Coffee and a lovely scone enjoyed in this lovely Cafe this morning. Staff were wonderful and freindly and made us most welcome. I noticed their prices for cabinet food and meals and they were very reasonable. Taranaki needs to look at this hard and it's stopped alot of people going out. Well done Mint Cafe Dale Goldfinch Stratford

Nice busy place, friendly waiter lovely establishment the food wasn’t the best for what we paid. Always good to try new places but wasn’t our favourite place
This was the second time we have been to Mint Cafe. The first time we went to Mint cafe was good, so we were happy to come again. However, this time was not so great. The toilets were dirty. My partner ordered the big breakfast and it was disappointing for $20.00. Sausages were deep fried and were those crappy precooked type. Scrambled egg wasn’t scrambled enough and had white bits. No mushrooms and wasn’t advised when I placed the order and substituted with about a teaspoons worth of spinach. Hash browns straight out of freezer packet and into fryer. It’s a shame, as she said that she wouldn’t go again, especially as their are excellent other choices nearby such the Spruce Goose or the Maranui cafe, which are similar in price.

Worst place ever. Went it to order a coffee 4 of the workers were standing around and didnt even look at me! So after 5 mins i walked out and one of the workers cut me off while i had ny baby in the carrier. I decided to try again about a hour later. I got served this time! But they mucked up my order and when i confronted the same lady that cut me off and alsp doesnt know how to smile got pissed off and grunted. Absolutely disgusted in your shitty manner

Came in with my 2 year old boy to get some chips and smoothie. Chips were overcooked, nuggets were average and the kids toy area was filthy - either have the area and keep it clean (along with the toys) or don't have it at all. Wasn't busy yet still dishes on tables. This was a fav place in the past but it's below average now sorry.

We went to Mint after school last week. I just wanted to get a bowl of chips for my kids. I was very disappointed. Many of the tables were covered in crumbs, dishes and general mess and no one was cleaning and clearing them. We were there for about 40 minutes and I did not see any staff member clean a table that entire time. The floor was also dirty. The chips, when they arrived, were well over-cooked (see photo), but the kids were hungry and ate them anyway. Apart from that, it was just little things that made it a less pleasant place to dine than it once had been. For example, there were no cups next to the water cooler - I had to go and ask for some. And the salt and pepper set - the salt shaker didn't even fit in the little carrier thing, and the pepper grinder was broken all around the bottom (see photo). It just gives a bad impression. I think it might have changed hands recently? If so, the change is not for the better.

Service is quick and friendly and the meals are a decent size. The rating is only a 2.5 because the menu says the burger comes with chicken breast but came with a chicken patty instead (I.e. a giant version of a chicken nugget)... For $17.00 it was a let down. Definitely order something else to avoid disappointment!

Service/staff fantastic. Food yummy and well consumed. Just one suggestion have another alternative instead of hash browns for the eggs benedict as I am used to having it with muffin or a bread base variety and I admit that I am not a fan of hash browns.Top marks for the use of some 'te reo' on your menu board - "Ka pai".

If the owners considered draughty seating the would like a probably hit jackpot profits. Two sliding doors flank the venue. There are actually only 2 spots you can sit in that accommodate more than 2 people that aren't subjected to cold draughts every time someone comes in or out. Worse, a lot of people don't slide the doors shut properly so the heat gushes out. Not good for anyone with a thought for the environment or staying warm. $100 tradies fee and a couple or springs would solve the problem, as would a bit of creativity with the seating. Other than that, the choice is great, staff friendly, and the quality swings from above average to yummy. This place could be packed out. Just needs the above to be sorted out. 🙄

Bugger! I ran out of entertainment book voucher for this place! Best breakfast ever! Huevo rancheros for the win. Nice food and coffee will definitely go back next week

Went here for brunch on Sunday before I went shopping. Ordered the eggs benedict but as I didn't read the description I didn't know about the hash browns rather than muffins or toast. Wasn't too bad but wasn't amazing either.

Popped in while out shopping. I had a pot of tea and the eggs benny with salmon; he a mocha and eggs benny with bacon. The eggs benny came served a top round hash browns - awesome if you love hash browns but kinda gross of you don't. So my hubby and I had completely different experiences. Had I noticed it said hash browns I would have tried asking for muffins. The food was well cooked and presented nicely. Not terrible, not fantastic either .. but no real complaints. I will say that the milk bowl was the tiniest one I have ever seen!

Barn-like industrial cafe with a reasonably large but standard range of cabinet and blackboard offerings. Service is usually efficient, friendly and no nonsense. Kid friendly.

An impersonal space with commercial radio station in evidence. An eat it and beat it that might be useful if you've finished at the warehouse and can't be bothered travelling to Maranui, Elements or Spruce Goose.

Growing up I was a fan of the "green eggs and ham" book by Dr Suess but I NEVER thought I'd have green eggs and ham for breakfast with my bacon and egg slice.
Congrats, I'm not coming back any time soon.

Not a fancy place. Handled a big group for breakfast well. Good value for money, very hot drinks and service staff really listened well to special requests. Need to pay better attention to detail with toilet facilities, not clean and fresh for 8.30am, perhaps facilities need upgrade.

Love this place !, milkshakes are delicious and the build a breakfast is a wonderful idea . I regularly visit mint each week with my partner and our son and it always leaves us happy and full . Friendly staff , cabinet food and a menu that's sure to satisfy everybody one way or the other what more could you ask for !. Be sure to get in quick as it can fill up quickly especially with the warehouse and airport so close.

My family arrived at mint at 4:10pm for a coffee and we asked for 2 coffee's and 2 fluffy's a lady staff member said sorry we cant make you a coffee because the coffee maker is all ready clean when they close at 4:30pm. And then we asked to speak to the boss and he said yes we can make you a coffee we so no and we went to another more friendly and nicer coffee shop.I think your staff need to smile.

Good selection of food! A lot bigger inside than it looks. Waiting on my food atm, but they seem pretty speedy. Will follow up after lunch but for now, 4 stars..

Comfort food. Quick service. Nachos like mum made.

Seating is awful. Wooden box seats that change angle when someone sits at the adjacent booth.

The first time we came to this cafe for breakfast after staying the night in Wellington, I vowed I would return. The eggs benedict were divine! Upon a return visit just recently to Wellington we drove out to Lyall Bay looking forward to another scrumptious brunch and we were very disappointed and will not be returning. The staff didnt look that bothered whether they had customers or not, the tables were dirty and gritty from the wind blowing through the door which needed some maintainence as it was very stiff to open and close. Our coffees were - okay, and our eggs benedict looked okay - but whatever happened to the home made hash browns???????? The standards have obviously dropped and we were left feeling very let down from what used to be such a vibrant cafe. Sadly we will not make a return visit as it has obviously changed ownership.

Very conveniently located. Coffee is OK, food is pretty average and tends towards the tasteless. Service varies quite a bit, depending on who you get. Very child friendly with a basket of toys, paper, and coloured pencils. We'll return, but only because of the location.

We went here for a Thursday at 1pm. It was about half full. The staff were friendly and they are organised. We only waited 10 minutes for hot chips and a heated panini.

It is a good cafe to go and visit if you have been shopping for hours and you need a drink and some food to fill your belly. They are even child friendly with their kids menu and a tv screen.

The food is reasonably priced and its not a fancy place, so it wont excite your tastebuds too much. It will fill you up though.

We have been going to Mint for a few years now and the service was always good and the coffee was good too. But over the last month we have noticed a sharp decline in the service. There is no smiles or friendly attitudes, the tables are dirty and the once good coffee has dropped alarmingly in quality, so much so that i left a large flat white barely touched today as it resembled more like a milk shake than a decent coffee. It was over foamy with hardly any coffee taste to it at all. Sadly we shall now go elsewhere for good service and a decent coffee.

I went to Mint in Lyall Bay this morning and was very disappointed. I went in at 8:05am and had to ask if the place was open - which it apparently was judging by the nod and grunt I received in response. There were no scones or muffins ready - if you're going to open at 8am, have the scones and muffins ready, otherwise just open at 9am!!!!!! I ordered a hot chocolate and it arrived quickly and was perfectly OK, but would a smile hurt? If you're not a morning person, don't get a job that starts before noon - there are plenty of bars in the city to work in at night! I'll avoid Mint from now on and go to the much better, friendlier cafe around the corner in Kingsford-Smith Street.

I was in here on Queens Birthday weekend. The cafe was full and clearly busy, even so the staff where great. They were very friendly and the coffee was a god send. We had a great lunch and will be back. Our kids loved the toys, colouring in and the Ice Cream.

If you are looking for a great stop when you are out and about you can not go past mint

great food and coffee (mojo's) is excellent

wow what a find who would have through that there would be a place as great as Mint next to a warehouse. The food is awersome the staff are really friendly. I love the fact that the kitchen is open and I can see everything been made that I am about to eat.

As a bonus mint has fantisc gelato.

Thanks heaps guys Mint really is Mint

I have been eating a mint since the day the store opened. I have to say that they have the best coffee anywhere in Wellington. The food is excellent, it is great to see that there are still places around that know how to present a meal. The thing that I was impressed the most with is the fact that Mint has a certificate on their wall from Hospitality NZ saying that they are an approved training centre for the apprenticeship programme. It is great to see a local cafe supporting the youth of NZ.

We love the menu it is unique in the fact that they have also incorporated the national language of New Zealand.

Thanks heaps guys you rock
