Review The Village Patisserie Cafe - Wellington

Excellent, friendly service, and delicious food. Their homemade pies are very tasty, and they do great coffee too! It's a good spot to meet with friends - with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Good latte with yummilicious apple muffin. The boss Mr. Deng are so friendly. Had a nice chat with him.

Fantastic service great coffee and possible the best cheese scone I have ever had.

Great selection of slices, their savory muffins are fantastic oneof the best around. Coffee is strong and a bit bitter but ok. There is a nice conservatory seating area. Great spot for small children.

Coffee is a bit bitter and pretty strong but still nice coffee! The food is good, the place is charming (little deck at the back) and the staff is really friendly! 😊

It looks small from the outside but is actually very spacious. Split into three areas all with seating and tables. On a nice day you can sit out the front as well. Always super friendly and make me special request items. Asked for a bacon roll with honey mustard sauce, no problem at all. Served it up in no time. I really like the coffee here.

The quiche is super delicious! I think their muffins are quite popular too! We go there just for the quiche. All flavors are recommended to try!

The best coffee in town. Consistent with great strength. Highly recommend it. Have been going for many years on my days off. 10/10

Lovely cafe. Warm and quiet, great food and friendly staff. My omelette was perfectly cooked, light and fluffy, and loaded with fillings. A very satisfying lunch.

We had had the Ham & Leek soup here. Ling was outstanding and very patient with my gf’s complicated diet.. Cheers,

Never been to this cafe and not had a friendly welcome and great service. Always good coffee with attention given to the specifications requested.
Although the environment is modest , the food quality is consistent and exactly what you want for a quick lunch while you are passing through the village. You have to be quick for scones and muffins as they are obviously very popular.

Reading earlier reviews, I can see how the cafe has improved with the new owners and wait staff. You are greeted at the door by friendly faces and they treat us like family. If you get in early enough, you're treated to a tray of homemade scones (the best in New Zealand!), muffins, and quiches. The sandwiches are good too. Love ordering the omelette and deluxe wedges.

There's almost always a table available to wait for take away orders and drinks, or to sit and eat your meal without too much craziness going on around you.

This cafe is an awesome, friendly place! The owners work so hard to deliver delicious food and coffee every day - the scones (especially cheese) are to die for!!! Always great service and good food. Highly recommend the deluxe wedges, scones, and salmon quiche!! :)

The best muffins and scones in Wellington! better get in quick before they're sold out! The blueberry muffins are loaded with blueberries and the cheese scones are just amazing.
Great coffees and sweets, personal favourite is the passionfruit cream cheese tart. Very friendly and welcoming owners :) service at this cafe is just better than what you expect at a normal cafe.A very clean and relaxing environment, great place to meet up with some friends

Great Cafe with very friendly staff (especially the delightful Bri), Amazing hot chocolates and coffee and very good food. Price is reasonable

Very average place with very average food and not great coffee. Not much either in the way of service but there aren't many other choices in the area, which I suspect accounts for being so average

Great breakfast with a welcoming staff and service. Really good coffee, and very comfortable environment. Privileged to have this standard of cafe in the suburbs!

Not recommended
Oh dear - a shambles! Where do I start...

Food was ok - the florentine was excellent , date scone good, smoked chicken croissant was ok but rather bready - it unfortunately didn't start life as a buttery croissant dough.

Coffee ok - mojo - adequate texturing, not burnt.

Noisy

Service varied from appalling to sadly hopeless.

Appalling: the floor was dirty to the point of being off putting. There were two available tables : both dirty and the dishes and food sitting there from a previous incumbent. I sat at one and after a minute or so asked the waitress who seemed disinterested to clear the dishes - she managed under clear duress to remove one of the six. Five minutes later we removed them ourselves. No one cleaned the table after we had done that.

The other dirty table remained that way.

Sadly hopeless: the coffees were forgotten - three other tables got theirs first before we reminded them. The young man was apologetic.

Frankly the owners need to look seriously at staffing and send at least one to a course in hospitality or cleanliness.
A very warm and friendly cafe. I have been here quite a few times and as always, this cafe welcomes me with friendly services, delicious foods and great coffees.

Service: You don't expect a 5-star hotel service at a local cafe but it is really rare to find such good service in Wellington! I'll just give a few examples that I've experienced or seen.

1) When the waitress spots you while you're having trouble to open the door, they immediately appear beside you offering help - especially to elderlies too!

2) Every time when you finish ordering, they always double check your order with you patiently - this is very useful to me as I sometimes forget how many coffees I have ordered!

3) They keep on aplogizing for the "long wait" when it has only been 5 minutes since I have ordered my food and coffee!

Food: Delicious, delicious, delicious! Especially the muffins and scones - better get in quick and grab two before they're all sold out!

Various choices off their brunch menu. I personally recommend the Corn and Polenta fritters, the taste is on the point.

Their coffees are lovely too!

Hygiene: Pretty clean but when the cafe gets really busy then sometimes tables may not be cleared immediately as of the short of staff; but it is understandable.

Overall, it's a lovely cafe and it definitely will make you wanna go back!

We had hot chocolates, a fluffy, a blueberry muffin, and a ham and cheese ficelle. The hot chocolates were fine and the food was great but the service was poor and the cleanliness worse.

There were four free tables, all of them dirty. We asked a waitress to clean one. She wasn't overly happy about it and just brushed the crumbs onto the chairs and floor with a dry tea-towel.

We waited half an hour for two hot chocolates, but only got one. When I asked about it the manager waved a receipt in my face in triumph because it proved that's all I paid for. Little victories I guess?

The people next to us were waiting for their food well before we arrived. They left without eating.

Found in the heart of the village, so parking is easy. Clean toilets and good seating options. Even has a good menu, fairly reasonably priced and have visited now a couple of times.

This place perplexes me. Coffee is better and more consistent since the new owners but this places lacks atmosphere and service is so ho hum, as well as giving the place a much needed make over.

Just doesn't pull you and make you want to keep coming back.

So so cafe. The food is well prepared, but it really is just a cafe with standard cafe food. The decor and atmosphere is a dated, dark and sometimes cold. In winter, I want a warm cafe.

terrible service. had someone new on the counter who was clueless and had no help from an experienced staff member. they seem to take ages to make a simple coffee, even when they're quiet. last time i was there they stuffed up my order then layed the blame on me even though it was due to their lack of signage and an incompetent staff member. won't be back there again.

Used to be the Rosa Cafe in Khandallah. They have recently changed hands. The owners of it now were the owners of the (old) Village Cafe in Crofton Downs. Just started about three weeks ago. Lovley selection of homemade cakes and cabinet food. Really nice service. Absolutley recommend the cheese scones and the slices. Simply delicious

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. If that's true, the perfectly seared medium rare rib eye and the portobello mushroom with fritters will always be a special memory for me. Modestly priced and spacious enough to seat a small army, this restaurant was a wonderful experience. I'm looking forward to our next visit to khandallah just so I can have that juicy steak once more.
