Review Subway - Wellington

Ben Williams
Pretty average Subway, this one opens later than most of the others around here. They had run out of some ingredients but the guy working was very apologetic and provided great friendly service.

. (09/2017) Very handy location for late night takeaways. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast and cheerful service. No seating available. Good for quick bite.

The place was busy as but the team worked beautifully together to give us great food as a reasonable price.

This was it. This was the experience that pushed me over the edge and now I won't eat subway again. Far too much inconsistency in service and how they make sandwiches.

When we arrived, the 2 young girls had clearly just been arguing and were unhappy. They proceeded to give the most half-ass welcome. Fine. I can deal with that. But then the first girl proceeds to continue to clearly be pissed and she literally throws the ingredients onto my sub. I've seen staff toss food before, but this was literally flicking the fingers so the food hopefully makes it onto the right part of the sub. And I don't mean lots of food. She grabbed the tiniest amount of carrot and throws it onto one end of the sub, completely leaving one end with no carrot. Same deal with the other ingredients.

In the end, my girlfriend walked out. Me being top polite told them we are very unhally with how they prepared the subs, paid and decided I wouldn't get subway again. And I've bought subway dozens of times.

$12 for a sandwich is a lot, even in 2020. I expect a good, well prepared sandwich.

Not only was my foot long made of yesterdays stale already cut bread but the egg looks rotten also.

The staff seem too rushed here and when you complete the survey you don’t get the email to claim a cookie

WARNING: So called "Vegetarian" food at this store is contaminated with meat.

I went into this store recently and ordered a vegetarian sub. I noticed the staff member cooking it up with a meatball sub. Obviously NOT what one does, meat grease vaporizes and contaminated the vegetarian product.

I very politely pointed this out to the staff member. At first she denied that she had done this. She continued to deny it for some time until I explained to her that I had stood there and watched her do it and gave a step by step breakdown.

Then she finally admitted it. She didn't give a rats proverbial. Really snooty about it too.

What do you do when you screw up like that and contaminate a customer's food? You admit your mistake, apologise and offer to make the customer a new one.

What did the staff member do? Lied about it, became rude, did not offer to make a new one and expected me to pay for the contaminated product.

So I contacted subway to find out if co-cooking the meat and vegatarian products together was standard policy or if this was an aberration. They responded with some rubbish about how all their staff wash their hands. This clearly has NOTHING to do with the question I had asked. A very very simple question. So I went back to them and got some other irrelevant drivel. And so forth. So far I have had to go back to them FIVE times with the same very simple question, they are basically refusing to answer. Therefore it is blatantly obvious that this cross contamination practice is almost certainly chain wide.

I strongly recommend that all vegetarians, and all people in general who believe that food providers should be honest about what they serve, boycott all Subway shops.
