Had a phenomenal experience from start to finish! My server (I believe her name was Sky) greeted me and everyone with a huge smile. The food here is truly authentic. It was a cold day that day and I knew that I needed the warmth and heat of Korean food and they definitely delivered! The service was without a doubt phenomenal and they definitely delivered! Definitely highly recommend this place and will be coming back next time I'm in Wellington!

Best korean place I've been to so far. The Beef Bulgogi and the sweet and spicy chicken was amazing. Also friendly service with a smile.

We just left and we loved it so much we had to leave a review. We had the BBQ. My partner is still drooling over it and can't wait to go back for more. We also had the Kimchi Jjigae which was so spicy, and comforting for a cold winters night. The waitress was so lovely. I regret not getting her name to say thank you for such a great night. We can't wait to return. Can't recommend this place enough!

Ordered the kimchi jiggae and tteobbokki. It was alright. Thought that the rice cake were cooked too long it wasn’t chewy anymore, and the overall flavour was too mild.

Sundubu jiggae is ok, lacking a bit more salt. Average taste for the beef ramen, taste a lot like instant noodle. Understandably so due to short staffing. Staff were still friendly and helpful

Side dish was kind of disappointing, the potatoes we're tasteless. Ordered a dish of spicy squid, also lack of seasonings, good kimichi tho. Place is a bit dark, and empty.

Friendly and fast service, with reasonable pricing and average serving sizes. The tteokbokki (떡볶이) was chewy and delicious, although the sauce seemed to lack depth of flavour, and wasn't spicy enough for my taste! Their fried chicken (양념치킨) is crispy and the sauce is also delicious; would have preferred the sauce spicier as they describe it in a sweet & spicy sauce, but it was more sweet than spicy. The spicy squid stir fry (오징어 뷰음) was also another great dish, also not as spicy but everything was well seasoned and cooked well! Bonus of great classic Korean side dishes 😊

Grabbed a couple pieces of sushi today - good standard selection, priced from 90cents to $2.00.some fried options. Lots of hot dishes available for about $7.50 on special to $14.00. Would be good if the had napkins/serviettes on the tables that you can use.Will try a hot dish next time.

Great place to go to for a quick lunch, but I find it very frustrating that they don't disclose that there is a wait (sometimes abt 15 minutes) until AFTER you've ordered and paid. They need to let people know of waiting time before customers place their order! Also their menu is not very vegetarian friendly (they only have a very small vegetarian sushi selection, which means I can't go there when I'm with my friends who are vegetarians).

Even though I caught them 15 min before closing time the cashier sprinted to the kitchen to deliver my order! Awesome service aside, the katsu don was so tasty and I only had to wait 10 mins for it. Great value, great tasting and definitely will be back 👌🏼

Easy lunches is what I'm about. Not bad for $6.90. The cashier was super helpful. More a "in and out" kinda place rather than somewhere to sit n chat.

I went to this Japanese restaurant at lunch time on Wednesday with my friends. We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and Seafood Ramen. The Ramens was so delicious and amzing. We waited for a while before the food come out. Because it was a little bit busy around 12. However, it definitely worth it. If u wanna try their hot meals, I recommend u come after 1pm. I really wanna try their rice meals next time!!!!

Just been there today with friends , we have ordered tonkotsu ramen and shoyu ramen. Both are really good, we all love it. Taste great with chill sauce. Next time may try some sushi. There sushi look beautiful.

They have amazing sushis and the customer services was awesome! Had some sushis and Tonkotsu Ramen with my friends! It was so good! Definitely will go there again!!!!! Love the salmon sushis! I want to try their rice meals next time!!!

Terrible service and terrible hygiene. I ordered a tonkatsu ramen and waited for around 25 mins. After being fed up with the wait I went to the counter to enquire where my food was. They disappeared out back and came back 5 minutes later to inform me they were being cooked now. When the food finally came out, I discovered the Ramen bowl had a big lipstick mark both on the inside and outside edge the bowl. They hadn't washed the bowl properly (or at all ) from the previous customer. When I informed the staff of this they quickly whipped out back with the Ramen and came out 1 minute later with a different bowl. With the wait I have had to endure beforehand, I'm pretty sure they couldn't whip up a new dish in 1 minute. They probably just tipped the ramen into another bowl. To top things off, the ramen was luke warm. I definitely won't be going back there again....

Bad, Bad Bad!! This shop has recently been done up with larger premises. The menu is also larger with ramen to boot and cause I love ramen I thought I would try it. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen set which came with dumplings. When the ramen set came the dumplings were stone cold-bad start. The ramen looked OK but the soup broth was basically salty dishwater. I have had plenty of Tonkotsu ramen's around the globe (esp in Japan) and this was hands down the worst one I have ever tasted. How can anyone serve this crap and expect to get away with it ? The noodles weren't proper mein noodles as well I think they were Diamond spaghetti noodles. Overall a very bad ramen and these people are generally taking the piss.

I have tried to visit Umi House for a Donburi twice so far, and have failed both times. The first time, I was told that they had run out of rice. This was at 4pm! What self-respecting Japanese restaurant runs out of RICE?!?! The second time I attempted to order from this restaurant, today at 4:20pm, I was told that the kitchen closes at 4:30pm so I couldn't order. It was 4:20pm when I rang. WHY advertise that you are open until 5pm if your kitchen closes at 4:30pm? At 4:20pm I should have been able to order. Shocking service, I will not be trying to eat here again and I will encourage my friends and family to stay away from here also.
