Review J & M Fastfood - Wellington

Rayhaan Hussein
@0_3Patty Patrick Eir is a great man my idol, running the best store in all of wellington. I flock here every night like a ravaging beast due to how good the food is. Bless up

this is MY SPOT! I will eat the chips and curry sauce until I die. Staff are so nice to me and very fast. Food is always delish. 10/10

Always great after a night night out on the town if you like Chinese food.

Perfect for when you're drunk, it's a Wellington institution. But actually do a bloody good takeaway if you can't be bothered cooking.

Yummy, good value for money hard to find good quality smorgasbord in Wellington here it is. Our little gem in the middle of town you must go.

Decent prices per portion, great feed and very flexible hours this joint's a welly classic! Give it a chance now!

J & M is perfectly crafted to match my drunk appetite. The staff are super efficient and helpful, and the food is really tasty(though not healthy, fyi). That being said, it’s rare for me to go to a party and not plot my Ola ride to J & M instead of my house. It’s a great place

One of the only places open really late at night. They didn't have their meals available, only the smorgaboards. Portions also small for the amount you pay.

I had an amazing experience at J&M, your customer service is incredible and always great food. An absolute must if you are in Wellington especially being open so late it's a good change from only having McDonald's open at night!

My go-to for a quick and cheap meal. Definitely worth visiting after a big night out on the booze! Very convenient location for those out and about enjoying Wellington's nightlife.

I liked the good u can have chips and chicken or any other options

I have had some of the best food in the early hours of the night at j and m. Best go to is the lemon chicken, sweet and sour, chips 3 choice combo. If you are feeling hungry fill the Bott with rice or noodles and go for a 4 choice

chicken palace is the only place to eat in wellington

Food was disgusting

Really awesome food and customer service. I am really a fan of their sauté chicken. Very polite and friendly service. Thank you very much. 😊

I do not know how to put it, but this food is horrendous. If you’ve been drinking then it will taste great, but for the more decerning pallet (i.e. sober) it’s rubbish

Come here only if you’re swaying on your feet. From what I remember I was satisfied... The drunk people seated around you, usually hold great entertainment.

Their fries are very tasty but that's about it, service needs improvement but I suppose they cater a lot to the drunk people on Courtney place after hours. The chicken it's okay nothing to rave about but sometimes I do question the hygiene for this place. Smorgasboard doesn't look that appetising and the meals are a little pricey for what they are.
The Food Snob
This place is gross. Easily one of the worst places I have ever eaten at. We have popped into here on the way home as late night food options in Central Wellington are quite limited in the wee hours. I gave this place 3 chances and each time I got bad stomach pains followed by diarrhoea. Each time my body and my partners wanted to just reject everything we had eaten here. It's dirty, there's no question about it. I was harassed by street kids who sat on either side of the doors begging for money and smokes, and went on to swear at me and become threatening. I don't understand why management don't just call the police and get them to move them along as it's unpleasant while you're waiting. I have no prejudices against homeless people, as a matter of fact some of my friends choose to live this way. The issue I have with this place is the lack of hygiene, and lack of responsibility in providing a safe eating establishment for their patrons. If this type of behaviour is a continuous problem they should consider hiring security. I don't know as I'd never ever return. I can still feel the memory of the stomach cramps. You're better off waiting until you get home and making some toast, unless you're trying to lose weight fast. If that's the case this place is the ticket. A great way to slim down for Summer. Complete and utter horror show.

Can't really knock the place, as it's been there for so many of us after messy late nights out.
It is a last resort and can be categorised in the same food group as the fast burgers, kebabs or fried chicken options that are offered at this time.
The ambience at this time also reeks of tension, with volatile, mostly intoxicated peeps trying to stomach the same greasy mess you ordered.
This entertainment factor is however a greater draw card than dining during the mundane daylight hours.
Avoid if sober! Otherwise the grease tends to be unbearable in most of the food they have.. The Chinese food on offer can be a little rubbery but the fried chicken is kind of passable.. Again, it helps if you are drunk. The place to stumble to after a Saturday night out on the town

The must go place on a Saturday night after a few drinks. Grease and carbs. But hard to keep tidy with all the drunken rabble around. I guess anythings good at 3am as long as it's open.

BEST PLACE EVER SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD

I bought a SMALL punnet of hot chips from J&M's on the weekend which I thought cost roughly $2.50... But when I checked my account the following morning I realised they had charged me a whopping $12 for the chips I had purchased the night before. I am extremely unimpressed and cannot even prove their wrongdoing because I was not given a GST receipt. I wonder if this is something they do on a regular basis to steal money off people on a Saturday night! I will not be going back to J&M's again, that's for sure!

A female staff, her customer service is awful. No smile, no greeting, grumpy and change her attitude by customers. I had bad feeling. Meals are okay but price is cheap. I will never use there however.

I have never been a fan of J&M Fastfood, and I believe that the only reason they get solid business is to target the drunk crowds on clubbing nights. Otherwise, in my opinion the prices for their incredibly mediocre meals are outrageous, as well as the portions they dish out for their chicken meals, of which they dub the "best chicken in TOWN".

I specifically asked as I got the smallest piece of chicken in the cabinet in my meal, to have a fraction more chips in my box (just enough to even scrape the top of the box) and got rudely denied saying "there was enough". Having to respect the workers, we let it pass, but were immensely disappointed with the lack of attention to customers and their requests.

In comparison, the cafe just down the street offers exceptional meals for the price offered, and if they were to be open at the same time as J&M on clubbing nights, I am positive that they would attract more business and frankly "blow J&Ms out of the water".
