These legends are the only Fish & Chips shop in Newlands that can make good food. The chips are always cooked perfectly, and the fish cakes are DELISH.
Keep up the good work. We wish you were open on Sundays :(

We’re local and I’ve always been interested in trying this take away out, we’ll I’m pleased I did tonight, fish and chips for the kids and they were well impressed, prices were similar to those take outs in nearby Johnsonville, would definitely recommend, thanks guys

Family favourite @The New Dragon. The variety of Chinese dishes is great and they do a generous serving of chips. Portions are a good size, normally 3 dishes feeds 6 of us.

Ordered 3 fish 2 scoops and 3 hotdogs. Pretty cheap the chips are amazing. perfectly cooked and the fish is amazing, best fish iv had for ages. Good hotdogs too! only took them 5 mins to cook it aswell

Yum! Very impressed with the flavours and variety of foods. We ordered an orange beef, nasi goreng, a crumbed terakihi fillet and couple of scoops of chips.
My husband liked the spice level of the orange beef and the fact it came with broccoli - win!
I mistakenly ordered nasi goreng for my 6 year old (he wanted noodles), but he helped himself more than a few times and really enjoyed it - win!
And my daughter and I had the fish and chips and both enjoyed them.
Because we all liked our food so much we shared and all agreed that each item was nice & tasty.
We will return!

Nicely cooked chips and good sized pieces of fish. Best I've had in the Newlands/Johnsonville area. The Chinese dishes are very generous in size and are well priced.

New Dragon Takeaways is located on the main st in Newlands, Wellington. They have good fish and chips and a great range of chinese food. I can highly recommend their chicken fried rice with extra cashew nuts. The staff are always helpful anf friendly, even when they get very busy. The prices are quite reasonable. If you are looking for a quick meal of fish and chips or chinese and you are in Newlands, then this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

I called in during lunch time for pick-up. Order was ready when I got there. Massive portion for each. The chips were devine. The hotdog and fish were also super nice! Haven't ordered here before so happy with the quality of the food. Would definitely be back. Just hoping their Chinese food is as good!!

Massive meals for great price steak fried rice is delicious and tender and keeps me feed for 2 meals and the sweet and sours are even bigger. Meals prepared quickly I go in regularly very consistent.

Really good takeaways, their fish is so yummy and the chips really good too, although they are very heavy handed with the salt, but if you ask them to alter they will. We usually get the fish burgers and man, the piece of fish they give you is way bigger than the bun. Highly recommended! One more thing, they need to update their prices on here as they are a bit higher than shown.

We don't often have it often, but we fancied Chinese for dinner. We thought we'd try New Dragon Takeaways over our usual. We ordered our standard takeaway dishes:<br/><br/>Chicken Chow Mein ($9.50)<br/>Sweet and Sour Pork ($11.50)<br/><br/>We ordered very early (4.20pm) by phone, I drove up and it seemed they were busy already... possibly a popular place?<br/><br/>The staff were busy, but friendly.<br/><br/>The meals were ready promptly. I was there while they prepared them. I was surprised how big the portions were, so much so that they couldn’t close the pork container, so they placed it in a paper bag.<br/><br/>I have mixed opinions about this meal. On the down side, there wasn't a massive amount of chicken in the Chow Mein and it was a tad watery. On the upside, it was fresh and clean tasting.<br/><br/>The pork was on fried rice. I couldn't decide if I liked that the sauce was given as a pottle rather than mixed in with the dish - overall I think I prefer it mixed in. The rice was tasty and again, clean, not greasy but it lacked 'something'.<br/><br/>Overall it was average, a good average, but average all the same.

Pretty standard Chinese takeaway place. Was recommended to me over other similar places in Newlands. Pretty quick service and good prices. Their chips are particularly good!
FOOD Wars
Best chinese in Newlands! You'll be able to tell this as it's always packed out. Forget other takeaway shops in the area, this is the only one you need to go to. Sometime find the fish n chips a bit oily so ask for a 'longer drain'. Prices range for Chinese range is around $8 - $11. Egg Fu Yong is always a hit in our house.
