It's okay. U have to be member to buy beers or food.. pool table there. Good view. Fishing tournaments.

Visited on the Friday night of fishing competition and the place was humming - exactly how a club should be! Staff were very busy but still smiling and helpful. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and delicious. If you're a local, into fishing or boating and you're not a member (yet!) then I highly recommend you check this place out.

Service was amazing, cooked fast, and the seafood salad meal was amazing! We all enjoyed our meals. Highly recommend this place !

The chowder is the best I've ever eaten! You have to be a member though. This was $24.00 (incl beer), could've cured world hunger! Outstanding!

Great location and good food. Extensive menu with burgers, steak, salads and healthy and vegetarian options. We sat upstairs and outside enjoying the sun and a couple of drinks each. We had 2 of the salads, 2 of the burgers and the beer battered snapper. All meals thoroughly enjoyed.

Lovely food, friendly staff, gorgeous view, well worth a visit.

Great place worth the visit for a meal

Went for lunch yesterday and enjoyed our window seat. It is sometime since we last had meal there and were very pleased The champaign scallops and the mixed seafood were both so much better than previously. We will be back soon. We'll done.

Lovely venue at the Sport Fishing Club right on the wharf. Eating with a view. Large menu selection and reasonable bistro style meals. Drinks ar club rates (low prices).

Our light meals for only $21 were a massive plate full of scrumptious "chicken and bacon with cranberry, salad". We won't need tea tonight.

Great food, reasonably priced and plenty of it! Very friendly bar staff too.

I reckon it's the best place to eat in whakatane, best value for money. Just sign up to the club, the process takes a while bit its 100% worth it. Good place to come for a beer and watch the footy.

I like dining here, the meals are reasonable in price and generous in their portions. Love their rhubarb and apple tart served with custard and and french vanilla ice cream. Great spot out by the waterfront.

I might be a bit harsh here but had a friend come out from England. My wife ordered a cheese burger that had no lettuce. When I questioned the chef he was quite arrogant and said they don't come with it. This followed in an email battle and I voted with my feet and haven't returned. To be fair,the chef might have left and all other meals were OK for pub grub, I might try again

Our visit day was on the 25th June, 2013.<br/><br/>I visited with family to this restaurant (Cheryl McMillan recommended it) and there were quite a lot of us... We sat upstairs to admire the lovely view - and it was an exceptionally beautiful sunny day in the midst of winter.<br/><br/>Anyway we enjoyed all of our meals. The price was just right. The meals were absolutely fabulicious. We did not have to wait very long and the kitchen staff were lovely. They even revealed their recipe for their Island Chicken which was enjoyed by all at our table...<br/><br/>I definitely would recommend this restaurant to all.. Please don't change your chef or the staff that is involved as they did such a wonderful job...

We ate here on Sat 16 Feb, and will have to disagree with Kris H's review - the prices are fantastic value for money! The most I saw was $31 - and that was for 300 gm scotch fillet with all the accompanying bits and pieces. I had Island Chicken on the recommendation of one of the servers, and it was delicious. My better half had fish and chips, and loved it. The serving was so generous she couldn't finish it. Out host had the seafood platter, which was great value. Especially when compared to a restaurant in Central Auckland which charges $135 for a platter with predominantly the same ingredients and a comparable size. All the staff were friendly, and having eaten in a lot of top Auckland establishments I felt we lost absolutely nothing eating here. Top service, top food, top value. Well done guys - we'll be back

Menu was exciting, but way overpriced, bordering on Top Restaurant prices ie $32.00. I would have given more stars but the bar staff are absolutely rude! Never again will I join this Club. They need to work on their manners. Last time I went was last December, and never ever ever again. If I could I would get my membership money back.

I have dined here a couple of times now and I have not been disappointed on any of these occsions. From memory that is about four times and a couple of those have been with family. The meals are so beautiful and there a range to suit everyone and the prices are awesome. I have had the Thai Chicken Curry which was huge and so tasty. My partner has had the steak which was cooked perfectly. The burgers are also yummo - I will go back again and again.

Ordered a takeout meal,was not impressed. Overpriced,bland food which seem to have been re-heated from frozen, i.e. mini pizza,chocolate brownie. Totally expected more being a club restaurant. Will not be returning there.
