Review The Comm - Whakatane

Went with a group of 20. Sat in the quiet area at the back. Service was good. Had delicious twice cooked pork belly. Yummy and tender.

We booked a table Sunday at 7pm.. there were 8 adults and 2 kids.. it was my mums birthday and she said she had a beautiful dinner out.. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AMAZING!! The girls who were on had awesome manners and made us feel welcome .. they even entertained my 4yo daughters questions.. thank them very much.. and props to the chef, everything was yummy.. thank you for the stress free night ..☺️

My sister has a walker aid and was not able to manage steps for access. A staff member directed us to a side entrance. From that moment my sister felt comfortable, was able to relax and we enjoyed our visit to the Comm. Service and food was excellent, thanks to all the staff.

We came to have a meal last night as part of a group of 8. One of our friends is celiac and we had had some concerns that you may not be able to cater for him. Your staff were amazing and really put themselves out for him, checking with your chef and letting Kevin know what you were able to safely cook for him (3 dinner choices which was great!) Your staff were/are a real credit to you. We all had a great evening and couldn’t fault a thing! Thank you so much😁

It was crazy noisy today as there were 2 other functions on at the Comm. I would recommend not booking if two other functions are booked but our meals were served in good time, the food was fab, and the staff were friendly even though they were rushed off their feet.

Had quick dinner while driving through Whakatane. Quick and tasty dinners- they made me a special vegan dinner which was perfect and interesting and thoughtful. They all went the extra mile and I so appreciated it!

This place does not disappoint! We made a last minute booking for a party of 17 and the food and service were outstanding! Well done to the super attentive staff popping over and asking how our meals were etc.

Great Burger! Great place, hasn’t disappointed each time I’ve been to Whakatane. Love it and will be back

Travelled from Taranaki and had a cousin who was doing the gown walk through town for her graduation. A table of 8 adults and 5 kids/toddlers/infants went here, which was just up the road from Maatatua marae. The food was delicious! I ordered the eggs Benedict for me and the waffles for my son. All was perfect!! The food come out relatively fast considering a few people had ordered before me. Will definitely eat here again if I had the opportunity and I recommend to all.

It was a great night out for our son's birthday and he got to eat for free coz kids dine free on Sunday so that's a bonus. Steak was cooked to perfection, yum crunchy chips. Overall the food was beautiful.

Had to wait for 50 minutes for our meal but it was worth the wait. To be fair, the place was humming and a big long table had to be served before us. We had burgers, both excellent. Our table neighbours had a surf and turf platter which was huge, and according to their report, amazing. The staff were friendly and prompt. Would definetly recommend and have already done so. So nice to see an old historic building to be revived like this.

Very impressed by the service and food. Service was prompt considering it was a booking for 10 and food served hot! Staff very accommodating and not overbearing, we did have a problem with our drinks that was sorted and fixed without any fuss :) i had the surf and turf and wow! What a bonanza of a dish, highly recommend.
