Visited the Whanga Bar for the first time on Saturday. The menu has so many great options it was hard to choose! I went for the chicken tacos which tasted great but I was a little disappointed about the amount of chicken on the tacos especially when the price was $14 for 2 small tacos. My husband had a burger which was great. So I’d say the food is nice but at least with the tacos the cost was a little much for the quantity. Nice little location they have and I would go back to try one of the other delicious looking options.

Just some info to ponder on. Went for Breakfasf on Saturday with my wife and did a double take on our two Breakfasts. I normally dont look at the EFTPOS screen or worry to much about price but had to check the Bank while seated to make sure what I thought I saw was correct. Both my Wife and I had eggs bene. Piece of white toast with 2 small poached eggs and 2 slices of bacon. 1 coffee and 1 hot chocolate and 2.9% charge for paywave. It came to $72 for Breakfast. I understand costs have increased, wages have increased but hoping its only INflation not GREEDflation that has hit this business. We have been going there regularly for the last 3 years and always enjoy it. Just posting as it worries me that if no one says anything people may stop going which is extremely bad for a great business in a great spot. Still a lovely place with great service but worried those prices may chase people away in the current economy.

Lunch from kitchen was well presented and tasty. The portions were good. The smoothies were tasty. Seating outside was comfortable with adequate shade for the sunny day. Staff were good and friendly. We had our small well behaved dog with us and we felt very welcome with water bowl provided, although the bowl needed a clean before it was offered to the dog. The staff were very obliging.

Dined here for lunch on the 27.09.22 and got the burgers. Chicken burger was perfect! One of the best burgers I have ever had. They do not make milkshakes but you can get iced chocolate.

Sweet little Cafe / Bar just off the Main Street. Rotating craft beers on tap from some of NZ’s best breweries and a delicious food menu.
