Review Caroline's Boatshed Bar And Eatery - Whanganui

Here on evening of 19th June 2023. Just by myself as in Wanganui for work purposes. I gave the t-bone steak with mushroom sauce a shot. Excellent feed, plenty of it and worth the $40.00. I wish I got the ladies name that served me but she was great to . Steak was cooked how I asked. Sitting on a bed of mushrooms and onions. A good feed and I would be happy to come back ad well as recommend this establishment.

Great place with amazing staff. Visited on a Saturday night around 6pm with no booking. We were quickly seated indoors and our order taken promptly. Great selection of starters and mains at reasonable prices. Drinks arrived quickly. Starters and mains also arrived very quickly. The portions are huge so go hungry!! Would highly recommend if visiting the area.

This is a nice spot lots of seating inside and out. The staff were very friendly and happy to help. The food was very good and service was fast even tho they were busy the day I was there. Price wise it was ok for the size of the meals I got.

Been here a couple of times now. Always great food. Can get busy but that's what you can expect when the food and service is good and great value to top it off. Highly recommended.

Service was great, and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Lamb rump with veges. The lamb was cooked superbly, but there wasn't much of it. Otherwise a great night out

I was gutted that other patrons on Thursday night 7th nov had no consideration for other diners who wanted to enjoy a nice meal and catchup. I dont mind a happy birthday song ,but the group continued to sing loudly. We had to go outside to eat our dessert and chat. Absolutely disappointing and definitely will not return.

Came to celebrate an anniversary, was greeted with compliments by our server which is always noice hehe 💁‍♀️😜 ordered tex mex without asking or realising it was tomato and cheese on steak, I don’t LOVE tomatoes but honestly- still bomb. Wedges were delish, has to try not to fill up on them. And service was awesome. Our server had a table of 40 come in right after us, and she still managed to get to us when she could. We were pretty happy chillin anyway hehe. Gotta bloody love Boatshed.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious meal at a Caroline’s Boatshed, and I must say, it was an fabulous dining experience. For the main course I ordered the pork belly. The presentation was great. The flavour's were delicious, throughly enjoyed it, a satisfying and well-rounded meal, and the portion sizes were extremely generous. The service was great with lovely staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant, you’ll need to book

Had a wonderful dinner here while travelling for work. Service was amazing and felt really personal. Garlic bread helping was good and can easily be shared. Had the Pork Belly and it was cooked beautifully with great crackling. Would happily eat here again if in town.

Absolutely awesome, walked in tonight (Tuesday) with no reservation. The place was pumping, we were seated within 5 minutes, served super quickly and the food is fab! Best shrimp cocktail we've had in forever. Friendly efficient staff and can't rate the overall experience highly enough 👌Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

Had the sizzler burger and the sticky date pudding and they were devine. Portion sizes were generous and all elements of the meal were perfect. The staff are super friendly with lots of personality and not shy to hold a decent conversation. Also plenty of off road parks and a ramp for wheelchair or pushchair access.

Friendly staff! Superb in quantity and price! Taste? Slightly above the average (just a personal thoght). Tried a few breakfasts and they were all fantastic! Tried lamb rump the other day, and sadly it wasn’t what I expected..

Book in advance!!! We turned up on Saturday night, and the place was packed, so we were unable to get a seat. Booked for Sunday night immediately. Food was a little slow in coming even though the restaurant was less populated, but it was WELL worth the wait. Our waitress Grace was fabulous. She was attentive and friendly without hovering and was always on hand when needed... thanks Grace. I had Ronnie's favourite steak meal, which was beautifully cooked and a generous serve. My son went the ribs, and although the meal was generous also he demolished it with a 2 thumbs up. I would highly recommend Caroline's and would eat here again, booking in advance of course LOL.

Absolutely fantastic place, great food, great service, great atmosphere. Wish we had more time in the area to visit again. The steak I had was great, the staff are brilliant.

Fantastic service and delicious, perfectly cooked food (and cheese cake for dessert), wine list was good too. Had kids menus and colouring pencils for the kids ready on the table for them when we arrived. Everything on the menu looked great and the service was impeccable - really impressed!

Their special lunch menu is frest value and very tasty. Service was friendly and quick. A great place to sit outside on a hot summers day and watch the river across the road.

Good service,good food. Went back again 2 weeks later. Excellent staff,delicious food served promptly.Good atmosphere too. Will be back....can't wait!!!

Service was slow. Booked 6.30 didn't receive our meal till 7.45. Children were with the party and the staff were asked if the children could be served first. Was told "we'll try!" The serving of the meals was poor. The waiting staff set the meal in from of me then reached in front to give the next person theirs. The same when we had finished. I was taught "serve on the right and take from the left." Most places asked how the meal was, nothing from the team. Not many smiling faces or a smile and good night from staff as we left. It looked to have been a busy night for the staff and maybe they were feeling tired but service to paying customer is really important. Especially for return custom. I little in-house training may be needed. The meal was great and the steak was cooked to my liking but why did they have to stack the steak on top of the chips? The bar staff were excellent and had offered us a bar tab. Unfortunately the team was let down by the waiting staff.

100 % 5 stars from us! We had a small registry wedding followed by a lovely reception at the boat shed. Caroline was amazing to talk with and organised it all for us, it took the stress out of our day. We Had a buffet meal which was a great price and absolutely amazing. Everyone loved the food (couldn't have asked for better!) And there was plenty of it, everyone who wanted seconds got seconds. It was a good variety of food as well. We were also able to order kids meals ahead of time so while we enjoyed the buffet, all the kids enjoyed their nuggets etc. Our day was perfect, and our meal was a huge highlight ! It was a lovely atmosphere and family friendly. I could not recommend this place more, especially if you have a special event happening. We did not have to worry avout setting up or cleaning up, all was organised for us and we were able to have our wedding cake their as well. Super friendly staff, great food and great prices. Thanks for such an amazing, stress free wedding lunch experience ! I have never felt more happy giving such a positive review x

I'm kinda a regular and dine here once monthly, love love love the lunch menu, and had the most amazing smorgasbord last night... food perfection, beef was delicious n so wanted to have more... but just knew there'd be no room for dessert... absolutely 'sinful'... tried not to eat too much.. but them the waitress comes and offers more... good manners prevailed and over indulged..lol.. hey thank you to the amazing staff n mine hostess.. the beautiful Ms Caroline �

Another great meal at Caroline’s. This time it was an early Xmas dinner with 15 of us. Caroline’s recommended we preorder so when we arrived our meals were all ready to go! The service was exceptional as always and staff managed our last minute changes to orders etc without a hitch. Extremely happy with the food, wine and service. This time we had the chicken and salmon. Both were sensational! Thank you for putting on the extra Vegas as requested. Thank you again for an awesome dinner experience. Caroline’s has become a family favourite �

First bad meal I've ever had at a carolines restaurant. If you've ever enjoyed nachos at Carolines you can forget about it now. Actually left hungry. Usual service and food is 5 star, but all it takes is one disappointing meal to sour an opinion. I'll be sticking to the steak sandwich and open burger from now.

Ring for a booking at 7pm, was told just turn up ok? So we did put the corner by the loos,ok ordered our meals arrived 35 minutes later, that was fine , we expected the wait , yummy meals now for the next one and half hours 1 1/2 hours waiting for dessert menu ... super slack on any respond to helping ?? Asked twice for a menu and ordered and enjoyed our desserts ... not very busy at 8.15 but had to wait another 45 minutes , the meals are well worth the wait but shitty service , come on Boatshed you must do better !!!

The beer was good. The rest was average at best. Tomato sauce for my chips tasted like it was mixed with something else, maybe cocktail sauce. I ate the boat shed burger.

The food is nice, and staff are friendly. It does get busy though, I booked a table and probably waited a good 15mins, no one came to take our order. It was a very long wait on the food. I did enjoy my grilled chicken salad but the chicken was cold. The other times I have been here, the food was hot and yummy, good service and not as long a wait on our order.

Just got home after being at a 70th birthday held at Caroline’s Boatshed. Fantastic place to be. Awesome food and wonderful staff. What more could we ask for.

I was there last night for my Grand Daughters birthday party and it was an awesome evening. Every one of the staff was helpful, the food service was fantastic and I really enjoyed my meal. Thanks for making this event special and we will definitely be back again.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the boat shed who made my partners 50th a fantastic night, table setting was just awesome, service top notch the meals came out fast, and was delicious, no one was left waiting for long periods that's fantasic service especially for a large group. Cheers to the team!

Fantastc place. Great food, excellent service. All round beautiful people. A must go when in Wangavegas!!!!
