Review Victoria Fish Shop - Whanganui

This is our first visit after some disappointing experiences at other fish and chip shops. This was a delight. Staff were friendly and helpful. Fish was very fresh and there were several choices. Spring roll was plump and quality. Everything was well cooked and not at all oily. This will become our regular. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

We were on a two day road trip and had been staying at a camping ground went looking for fish and chips in the city. I called our order ahead. There was a 40minute wait for them but it was worth the wait. The portion size was just right, on the outset there wasn't enough chips but it was sufficient given that we also ordered fish, mussels and scallops. Once the fish 'n' chips were ready service was good and despite the mask-wearing we even got a hand written smiley face on the newsprint paper wrapped meal. A nice touch. The fish was done well and firm to the bite. The staff of the shop was young, but well trained all orchestrated by an older woman, perhaps the owner. That said, they produce a good product.

Fantastic people and great fish n chips

Great service excellent quality fish tasty batter and yum chips. Well drained and very enjoyable. Had the best feed of fish and chips in years. (I have owned my own fish and chip shop and seldom find takeaways this good). And I didn't get reflux afterwards!! Definitely recommend 😊

Absolutely do not let looks deceive. Genuinely the best fish and chips I have ever had in my entire life. The staff takes great care in preparing your food and they definitely do not compromise when it comes to quality. The crumbed fish was miles ahead of anything I've had before, the chips were crispy and nothing was oily. The service was great! I would happily have waited twice as long for my food and it always pays to be kind to the staff. Restaurant quality without a shadow of a doubt.

YES! to get fish and chips DELIVERED hot and fresh and delicious, huge serving, is a dream come true! Will be loyal regular customers thank you so much! Thank you for working on the weekends so we can enjoy your food :) so delicious potato fritters to die for, pineapple ring takes me back to my childhood, the SNAPPER! No words.

Not only were the chips the best I have had in a long time, I also was able to bring in my own fresh caught fish for them to batter and cook at only $1 per filet. Polite, quick and friendly. I wish I could get the lovely young man who wrapped it all up to wrap all my Christmas gifts, it was done so nicely (weird thing to note I know, but I was impressed). We will definitely go back again. They also offer standard salt and chicken salt, as well as doing gluten free (but not celiac as it is all cooked in the same, though fresh, oil).

We really enjoyed our meal from here. We took home perfectly crumbed and cooked Teriki Fish Fillets, nice crisp chips, tasty as corn fritter and potato fritters and yum chicken nuggets. The food was cooked in fresh veg oil. Our food was wrapped nicely in good old fashioned white news paper. Nice friendly service and clean shop. There is a good menu to choose from , including burgers. Reasonable prices. I be will definitely go back.

The wait can be a bit long, which just shows how nice these fish and chips are. Vege burger is nice. Fairly well priced. Chips are good, although not the biggest scoop in town. For takeaways that are just a little bit fancier, this is a good place to go.

Staff are friendly, which is lovely in these trying times. Quite a selection of fresh fish to choose from. The overall prices are comparable to other places around town. The winner is that the meal was cooked to perfection 🤞
