Great food, friendly knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere for a family dinner out. Highly recommended!

We have been two times to dine in. Beautiful calm clean atmosphere. I was hesitant about spending that much on curry but after we tried it the first time, it was very worth the money and we couldn’t wait to come back again. Beautiful flavours and good spice. Thank you so much we will be back again!

Gorgeous atmosphere with the most authentic Indian dining experience I have had so far. You can see the chefs at work, creating magic. My new favourite Indian restaurant. Great for warming up in winter. Amazing place for a date with a significant other.

Big Tikka is consistently high quality and in my opinion is one of the top two restaurants on the coast. It is hands down the best Indian restaurant on the coast. Our faves are the Pahadi Palak Paneer (often a Saagwala) which we sometimes get paneer and sometimes opt for chicken, the Prawn Malabari (Andaman Jingha Malabari) is soft, juicy and full of flavour and we love the Kurkure Mirchi Aloo as a side. The coconut rice always adds to the meal too. Would absolutely recommend, and will continue to support during these tough times so it can stay around. Keep it up Big Tikka team.

Unbelievable, I've had alot of curries over the years and this is easily one of, if not the of best I've ever had, so much flavor that seems to be lacking from ever other curry place I've gone to, will definitely be coming back

We had our first dining experience at Big Tikka, we shared the onion Bharti, samosa and a chicken curry dish with garlic Naan. All was beautifully presented and very tasty.

7 of us went for dinner and the place out done itself on our expectations, it was a consensus that was the best Indian we've tasted....superb

Visited Whangaparoa for a short break. Was a last minute decision for us to meet with a friend here. An 'Authentic Indian Menu' that wasn't Anglisised. We all enjoyed our meal. The restaurant has an open kitchen, which I always find reassuring. Food was fantastic. I found the prices reasonable: contrary to what some others have posted. We were meant to feel most welcome. Despite being in a modern shopping complex, the decor creates a very relaxing ambiance. Best Indian food I have tasted in NZ so far.

Nice restaurant. Surprised to see autorikshaw here in NZ. Quality of the curry was moderate. It was taste more of like a tomato sauce.

Food is fantastic, I travel to India quite regularly and the food they serve here is almost the same taste as what you get there. Will definitely be back. The only thing that could be improved is the service. Was very hard to get someone’s attention.

The food portion size was terrible, though the quality is good. I got 4 pieces of chicken in a very small cardboard carton (about the size of a tank salad container) and got charged $24.50, then on top of that had to pay for rice at $2.50 as it isnt complementary for some reason. Makes it $27 for a very average sized curry, rather than its competitors at around $18 for good portions and free rice! Sad as it's such a great atmosphere inside, and the people are nice, but the price and what you get will scare away customers! Hello new restaurant!

Was very disappointed with quite a few things. First the takeaway sizing of the meals are not worth the $24.50, was the size of a wider coffee cup. They then charged us $2.50 for rice which I’ve never been to a Indian shop that charges extra for rice. The food was tasty but not worth the money.

Was extremely disappointed in big tikka. This was the best Indian takeaway restaurant in its area by far, while it was expensive the food was always worth it. Now they have decide to almost half the portions served while having the same price as before. They have also started charging for each serving of rice when it used to be free and most other Indian restaurants have rice as complementary. Overall I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning as they seemed to have prioritised making a profit over making a decent meal.

Charged me more than what was advertised on the takeaway menu. when asked, he said the menu was not upto date. I had to take it anyway because I was soo hungry. Asked the food to be made medium but was too hot. Never going back here again.

Really amazing curries, we really enjoyed the Indian food here. Definitely going to go back for more. The service was good and very friendly. And the food was the best Indian we have tried in New Zealand so far.

Love everything about big tikka from the atmosphere, wait staff and of course most importantly the food. Best curries on the coast by far - authentic and full of flavour.

Food and service ok, however the owner/manager needs to learn how to treat staff. He berates them in view of customers. Remember mate, without staff, you're outta business

I ordered the chilli aloo as an entree (which was DELICIOUS) and a vegetarian curry. The decor of this restaurant is lovely, lots of colours and shapes, and I love how the kitchen is transparent. The service was also great, too.

Great atmosphere, service and food. Thanks Big Tikka it’s always a pleasure coming and dining with you. A BIG thumbs up from me we look forward to coming back.

Delicious Indian food. We ordered butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, garlic naan and tandoori chicken. It was absolutely delicious . The flavours were there, the atmosphere is beautiful and unique. The staff was always very polite, kind and gave recommendations. Unfortunately, I live in south Auckland so it is a bit far. Hopefully the husband brings me back here for our anniversary .

Honestly horrible would not go back. Wrong mocktail came. Black curly hair in the food and when we (kindly) made management aware they accused us of putting the hair in the food ourselves saying it was blonde... it wasn’t. They then said they would not charge us but ended up doing so. Was a family favourite but not going back after the rude service.

Curry is so bold and flavoursome, great portion for dinner.
Atmosphere is great, very modern and a bit more class compare to others.
Service, staffs are friendly and food came out in time.
Amazing experience!

We had a wonderful experience. Mander was the nicest most polite waiter that I’ve had in years. The food was awesome and the meat was cooked perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves value for money, big pitches of beer and top quality food.

Great service, so polite and helpful. Food was delicious and the layered buttered naan one of the best naan breads I've ever had. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

The restaurant is very nice and clean. Their food is very good, but their service needs huge improvement. Waited almost 2 hours to get our food! In saying that, the food is very tasty and if you came in on a not so busy day, you wouldn’t need to wait for so long.

First time ordering from Big Tikka Whangaparaoa today and we were very impressed. The food arrived faster than suggested, it was piping hot and super tasty. The meat was tender and the sauces delicious. We would definitely buy from them again!

Had take out 4 times now. Brilliant. Best on the coast bar far.Best Naan bread ever.
Popadoms are made in house and rolled up like a cigar. Very cool. Decor is WOW. plan to eat in on day soon.

The decor and interior of this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Came here for lunch on Saturday. My boyfriend got a Chicken Tiki masala which wasn't on the menu but the chef happily made it. My sister got the butter chicken and I ordered the Chicken Biriyani. I'm no biriyani expert but i very much enjoyed it. Curries came with rice and naan and at a lunch price of $13.50. Food is more authentic than other Indian places. And the service is excellent! Our waiter was super smiley and very attentive. Definitely recommend this place for lunch!

We were on a long drive and decided to visit this place and it was worth it ... awesome food , lovely ambiance ... a must try , we will definitely visit again
Louise
Food was really tasty, especially the garlic, chilli, cheese naan. Decor is absolutely beautiful and staff are really friendly. Only two minor critiques; our drinks took a very long time, turning up when the food did, although ordered long before food. Other minor critique being the small portion of rice served with curries.
Other than that, it was a spot on meal.

We've been here 3 times now and every time the food has been fantastic. Great service and super friendly staff. Love the tuk tuk and the beautiful clean interior. Its a bit more expensive than the other curry places but you can see and taste the difference. It certainly puts other indian places to shame. Thank goodness the Coast now has an alternative to the cheap slop we have been settling for in the past.

WOW!! The interior design was jaw dropping, very cultural, alive and colourful. You can wear a turban while dining or take photos at the rickshaw(taxi) . I came in for dinner, they served a poppadum and sauce.
I had the Prawn Malabari , it was the biggest tiger prawn I have ever eaten in New Zealand, it was full of flavour, right amount of heat, a bit of tanginess and it was just delicious with a side of rice and perfect garlic naan.
The Lychee Pan Patta has the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol, it also had a full lychee as a treat!
As for dessert, I got a Mango Kulfi (ice cream) and the waiter confirmed it's home made! What a way to finish the evening.
This is a Restaurant you can have either casual or fine dining. I'm definitely a fan! :)
