Review Picador Steak & Charcoal - Whangaparaoa

We went here for the first time on Sunday night for the Sunday special Roast. The atmosphere was very nice, with the background music not to loud so you could talk at the table fine. For us, it was a very long wait from when we ordered till we got our food (close to an hour), but we understood as it was very busy, and we were the last table if the night. Our bread starter was good. The main when it arrived was lovely, although the vegetables could have been cooked a bit longer. It was great value, and we will be back. Update, went back for steak night special, and loved it, steak cooked perfectly. Food arrived quickly. Went back again and I had the ribs and my wife a burger, once again both were really good.

Last night we had a lovely $20 Sunday roast at Picador in Whangaporoa opposite the new world. Honestly could not fault the meal & deserts we had. One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. The vegetables were cooked perfectly not too hard not too soft. Pumpkin, kumara & potatoes were soft & served hot. & the beef brisket meat just melted in your mouth 🤤 As you can see my plate was polished clean. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The restaurant was warm. The atmosphere was very inviting with volume on the quieter side even though the place was packed full of customers. Table & chair layouts were accessible & easy for us to manoeuvre around our new born & toddler. We also was provided a clean & tidy high chair. Finished off with chocolate mud cake & ice cream! $175 dollars all up for 4 adults including meals, drinks & desert is incredible value for money considering the quality of food & service we received last night. Perfect stress free Sunday afternoon for our family after a long hard working week. Thank you to all staff at picador for your amazing efforts last night it was greatly appreciated 5 stars all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Awesome restaurant with great people, steak are amazing and well cooked. Ask for the waiter named sander he is very kind and experienced. Highly recommended 10/10

We've been meaning to give Picador a try for a while now, we shouldn't have waited. We went for the $20 rump steak special and wow it was so good! The steak was cooked perfectly, the portions were generous and overall a 5/5 experience. I would definitely recommend Picador to anyone that finds themselves on the coast looking for a good feed! I'll be going back that's for sure.

The food was fantastic when we had our dinner here tonight! Great quality and quantity! And the staff were all very friendly! Thank you for a wonderful meal!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant. And it is family friendly :)

I didn't know there was such a nice steak house in the north shore. The smell of the charcoal-grilled meat was very good. I went there on a weekday, and it seemed that advance reservations were required for large groups.

We went for dinner with friends ,10 in total. Everyone enjoyed their meals right across the main meal menu. From steaks , lamb, burgers everyone was positive about the food and said they will be back. Very enjoyable.

Central location with good priced menu. Sampled their Beef rump steak available on selected days of the week for a bargain $20 - cant get any better. Definitely recommend some of their other options too along with service with a smile.

We ordered Scotch Fillet and was so tasty. We were served promptly and didn’t have too long to eat. Would go back if in the area again.

Love how this place doesn't play loud music and we can hear ourselves talk quietly to each other. Even when full of people the noise level is still acceptable. This is our new go-to. Love the food, the service and the atmosphere.

The $20 steak special did not disappoint. We booked and were served really quickly. The steak was cooked perfectly, chips were hot and crispy with a generous salad. A lovely place to dine with nice atmosphere and plenty of space between tables. Staff were attentive, we couldn’t have asked for more.

Staff were accommodating and friendly as it was just a table for one and I didn't book. The food was great! And the atmosphere of the restaurant is really good. Will definitely be back

Tues and weds rump night special is sooo good! Only $20 for rump steak with chips and salad. Steak is always cooked exactly how you like it. Comes with gravy sauce on the side but you can get garlic sauce.

Great atmosphere and nice looking restaurant. Has a natural rustik look to it which is cool. Wasn't busy when we went there but the staff didn't slack. They were very polite and attentive. Food quality was great for it's price. Would definitely go back and try something different.

Very good customer services, both servers were very helpful, polite and fast, food was just as good, yummy and my steak was cooked to perfection, entrees and desserts were devine. Overall very happy family here.
