Took our own fish in to be cooked. Had a good feeling about the place before we turned up and we were not disappointed. Picked up a smoked mullet for lunch the next day as well ... perfect. Good old fashioned flavours.

This is how food should be.
Fish was super moist yet crunchy and soft. (Kumara) chips were fluffy and incredibly crispy. The egg was a nice addition to the dish. Everything here is great value, definitely coming back soon!

We ordered for 4 people (4 pieces of snapper/1 scoop of chips) $38 total. Which I considered a steal considering how wonderfully the food was cooked. The fish was fresh, lightly battered and not greasy at all. The chips were also light, crispy and not dripping with excess oil. The staff working here are also fantastic, friendly and happy to answer questions. Will be back next time we’re in town from Auckland, I’ll be spreading word about this place among whānau all over too!

It's hard to find good fish and chips these days so I'm really glad we tried this place. The fish is lovely and fresh, the batter is clean and crispy and good portion sizes. The staff we also very friendly. Would definitely come back here!

I have just eaten the most beautiful snapper and fries from Adriatic Fisheries. I very rarely post reviews but honestly this was so good.
You could tell the snapper was fresh with a gorgeous crispy thin batter and the chips were equally good with clean tasting oil.
I would highly recommend Adriatic Fisheries, cheers

I just want to make a huge "hell yeah" shout out to the staff at Adriatic fisheries! This place is my go to fish and chip shop now. The staff are so bubbly polite and happy. The food is a+++ and the attitude tops the charts of rating! Keep it up guys you rock

Really impressed this is still going and has amazing reviews all these years later. I used to go here in the 1980s with my family and always remember the fish and chips were amazing. Great effort, Adriatic!

Can not overstate how delicious the fish and chips were from here. Our 9 year old didn’t fancy the Thai we were getting so asked for snapper and a scoop. What an on-to-it kid. Such a decent portion and the taste - or should I say “TASTE” - was something else! I wished I’d forgone the Thai myself! Will have to be content with the small nibble I got until we are next in Whangarei. Mr 9 also passes on how lovely the staff were - kind and friendly. Ka mau te wehi!

My husband and I just ate blue nose and chips which we thoroughly enjoyed. The chips were crisp and the fish was well-cooked. Would thoroughly recommend.

I just paid $9 for about 15kg of chips and 47 potato scallops.
Fed the myself, my family, the ducks outside my house, my neighbour's fat mooch of a kid and still had enough left to factor as an asset in my divorce settlement with the ex-wife.
I was probably a $5 spend away from curing world hunger.
These guys must be operating below cost.
Also the food tasted great.
