Babas Indian restaurant has awesome food and staff. The atmosphere when dining in is fantastic along with the staff! Myself a chef for over 40yrs would say its as good as anywhere. Take- out is great..along with their delivery service. Its a 5 star venue all day! Go and enjoy!

My husband and I dined in at this cute little restaurant a couple of weeks ago, and we were very happy with the service, the people were very friendly, and the atmosphere was great. There were a number of people dineing in which made it Lively and actually more comfortable cause it wasn't to quiet. The food was lovely, I especially liked the Garlic naan bread which must have been cooked fresh, as it came to the table piping hot. The two person shared platter that we got was also a great starter, in fact, that with a naan bread was just about filling enough for me. Would be a great place to take friends, it wasn't too expensive and even the alcoholic beverages were well priced. I'm very interested in trying the next thing on the menu.

We've been meaning to go to Baba's for quite a while based on a friend's recommendation and we are so glad we did! The food was amazing -both the entrees and mains were divine and the peshwari naan was perfect. The service was great too. We will definitely be back as this is now our number one place for an Indian Curry in Auckland.

Delighted to find an authentic Indian restaurant tucked away in this little corner of West Auckland. The palak paneer was delicious and the tandoori chicken would've been perfect had it not been a little dry. Will be returning to try out the other items on the menu.

Babas main point of difference is the quality of the dishes. They are better than the main stream Indian offer. Taste delights every time. Service is top notch and they home deliver to the local area.

Walk in and the place smells amazing, you can see the food being prepared and it looks great. We had the chicken cadai and can highly recommend it. Service is great, staff are lovely. Great for dine in or take away.

Great indian. Despite living in the area for years and trying many indian places this is my number 1. Very good prices too, and their selection of curries and naans is probably the best I've seen at an indian restaurant. Also very authentic too

Amazing flavours and no artificial ingredients used. Beautiful food (including a couple of unique and delicious specials), friendly service and a good list of drinks available too.

This place is great, excellent food and such good options, have tried so many things on the menu, and none have disappointed so far ^.^

Great local restaurant with a delicious menu (love the Murg Malai Methi!). Friendly staff with excellent service including free delivery to the local area.

Genuine Indian food cooked in full view of diners...great menu and great tastes...a hidden gem 😀

Ordered off menu log and waited quite a while. But when the curry came it was top notch.

Not a flashy place, just great curry. Lunch special was good value.

Definitely always the best local curry we have!

The only takeaway closer to us. Goat curry is the best.

When we arrived the place had only another couple , we were greeted and directed to a table, the waiter came and took the orders only after we called him...
both our dishes were bland and tasted as if they were dished out of a ready made box. One of the dishes had a fish which looked like it was just been added to a ready made sauce and tasted as such. The portions were stingy and didn’t justify the $20 dollars each that the owners charged. Not once during the meal we were approached to ask if all is well , and our over whole experience was very bad. At the end of the meal we talked politely to the owner about the portion size and were told by him that no one ever complained.... There was no offer to rectify or even a simple apology .....

This place delivers mediocre food at best and certainly would not be a runner up for customer service.
Avoid at any cost!

Great quality and great tasting authentic curries.
Reasonably priced.
Not that spicy so ask if you want that - great ingredients, flavours and cooking all the same.
Actually had a delivery but will visit now - best I’ve had in along time.
Yum :)

Don’t dine in here! As we arrived for our booking we soon realised that they had indeed forgotten our booking. They pushed two tables together and urged us to sit down before they had finished setting the table, they proceeded to awkwardly set the table around us. Entrees took much longer than they should have, one was cold and another was completely forgotten, the tikka was good but the portion was small. We again endured a long wait for mains whilst takeaway orders flew out the door. The wait staff tried their best but were undertrained/thrown in the deep end. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine to apologise for our experience however we would much rather have bought the $13 bottle of wine from the liquor store and had takeaways at home. Their priorities obviously lie in their takeaways, and we were really disappointed by the overall experience.

Baba's is a great local curry house! We have eaten there multiple times and have never been disappointed. The staff are super friendly and always help us choose the best curry.
Chef always has specials which my husband is always keen to try. Me I also go for the stock standard butter chicken which never disappoints!
Its also BYOW which is great and there aren't too many places around now which you can.
Very reasonably priced menu and quaint atmosphere! If you go you won't be disappointed!

We have been going to Baba's for the last couple of years; it is a bit out of the way but well worth the effort. The food there is far and away the best Indian I have tasted. A lovely family-run restaurant with a great deal of charm, you are always given the warmest of welcomes.
The menu has recently been revamped slightly but the classics are all still there. The butter chicken is top notch, the beef madras wonderful, and the chef's special Chicken Badami is a wonderful treat.
One thing we really appreciate is that they don't use colouring in their food like many Indian places. The tandoori chicken gets its characteristic hue from natural ingredients, not some number from a bottle!

I almost forgot to mention the naan! The garlic naan is the best anywhere!

This place is fantastic have ordered twice now once we got delivery and other time ate in. Such fantastic customer service lovely staff and food is amazing!! Well worth trying!

My only experience with Baba's is through Menulog (online ordering)

Pros: food is really good no qualms there. Potentially 5 stars.

Cons: delivery times are absolutely atrocious. It normally takes 1.5 hours all up to get delivered, usually over an hour later than the estimated time. For that reason, well worth the three star rating because that just isn't practical or fair.

My favourite curry! I keep trying to find Malai Kofta that compares but I just can't. Same deal with the Peshwari Naan. This is my go to curry restaurant with the boyfriend and it's our flat's go to takeaway dinner when all the flatmates are home and nobody wants to cook. We still have a shade of curry stain on our carpet from making the mistake of drinking while eating curry with friends in the lounge.
Baba's is one of my favourite places to dine in as the staff are great.
Love it and am holding back the urge to go there right now.

I love this place. The food is fantastic and always served with a smile. I love that they have specials as it's great to try something different. The staff are incredible and I have used their delivery service in the past. Always on time and piping hot.

We agree with all the rave comments about this little gem...indeed the best Indian restaurant we have eaten at in Auckland and to those who remember the excellent Aroma in Castor Bay would not be surprised to see the chef from there behind the kitchen counter! Whereas so many similar curry houses have their food all tasting of the same spices, this chef creates different, individual flavours. I highly recommend the subtle tastes in the prawn curry while the chicken tawa is unique.
Apart from the food, the service is superb with the lovely owner (Meghn?) ever present, warm and inviting. We dine here frequently and have taken many friends who are all returning regularly too..
We cannot speak highly enough of Babas and are surprised to see a negative comment. Go try it!

Ordered a curry from here at the weekend. Delivered bang on time and can only say it was well worth the short wait! This was the best curry we have had since coming to NZ 9 years ago and believe me we have tried a lot. Only hope the standard continues for all the times we intend on going back.

weve recently moved here from Ellerslie so did the rounds to check out our eating options - Baba's Curry Cafe staff are very friendly - they remember what you ordered last time - and they treat you like friends every visit - the food is exceptional and they want you to be satisfied every visit - we do have a few Indian restaurants around Westharbour/ Westgate/Hobsonville and Baba's is seriously the better place to enjoy a curry.Check it out and write a review - it's the only way to pass the word. Thanks guys for your company once a week - we look forward to it !!

Sorry guys but very disappointed with the Whenuapia babbas curry I have had it twice now and I thought maybe the 1st time was abit of a hit and miss but the 2nd time was even worse the rogan josh tasted like nothing had been watered down and also the butter chicken was nothing like a butter chicken and it's very pricy and you dont get much food.. Chands Torbay is so much better I wud rate that 5 star amazing hope this helps with your choice if restraunt

This is BY FAR, the best Indian food around. We used to live in Wellington and have moved up to Greenhithe just a year ago. We have ordered from both Albany and Glenfield (as well as everywhere in Welly) and there is nothing close to the fabulous flavors of Baba's Curry Cafe in all of the North Island. Seriously.

We visited Baba's Curry Café last night and it was fantastic! The service was excellent, very engaging and friendly. Our 8 year old loved everything on the entrée platter that we shared and our mains were beautiful.
Well done Baba's on great food & great service! Thanks

This place is outstanding. We discovered it 5-6 weeks ago and have been back every week. The specials are great and they listen to what you say about spicyness and adjust. Excellent service and very friendly. Best Indian in the whole city and we've tried plenty.

Baby's Curry has to be the nicest food in Waitakere, with their newly opened Cafe open on Sat - Sun for breakfast it has become our regular! Great food and portions and very friendly staff!! I love going here with my mum or by myself to buy some hot chips and a coffee!!

Baba's has to be the best Indian restaurant in the Whenuapai/Kumeu area. Originally the starters used to be straight from the microwave but they are much better now and the mains are just fantastic. Friendly service and easy parking. This really does beat all the other Indian restaurants in the area.

#1 Baba's - Whenuapai
#2 Curry Leaf - Kumeu
last - Indian Summer - Hobsonville (just don't bother)

PS No I don't work at or own Baba's :)

I think I had the first meal here, the day before it opened. It was fantastic; so that I made a point of going back to tell the guy how great it was. sadly he seems to have moved on a younger guy is running it or cooking. The first time then, the food was runny..made allowances. Then it was paper staples in the food....everyone makes mistakes....The third time he must have put the whole bag of salt in the food. we don't go there any more........Good luck with this one.

Place is amazing.. Mates were a bit late , was no problem staying at the table for about an hour extra. Food came out once ordered efficiently. Atmosphere and service was of a high standard. Even had a nice chat with the boss about Indian Cuisine..Will defiantly be coming back.!!

We were a table of 4 adults. All of us selected different food from the well varied menu and every one of us was delighted with our choices. The meals were a good size and left us well satisfied. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere jovial. We will most definitely return and give it our whole hearted endorsement.
Thumbs up too, to the excellent staff and compliments to wonderful food as always. We have recommended it to many of our friends. (Bul-Feb,2012)
