Great food. We had the specials - no idea what the fish was but the waiter’s description was spot on. Service was friendly and relaxed. We had to book ahead. Other restaurants would squeeze in more covers so nice to see they hadn’t. Good selection of reasonably priced wine.

Friendly and attentive service. Limited seating and picks up at peak times. Tuna was seared perfectly and accompanied quinoa / veggies salad underneath complemented well. The special - cold platter was fresh and as a whole plate delicious. A seafood only + one meat dish restaurant and all produce was fresh and simple. For the dessert the Panna Cotta is a must!

It’s not a fancy 5 star but I’d say it’s the best in town. Good value for money that’s for sure. Catch of the day was fresh and nicely cooked. And I loved my pale ale. Really helped after a long day driving!

Not sure scallops go with rosemary. Other than that, everything I cool.

Friendly local restaurant with comfort atmosphere. Foods served with decent price and don't forget to try local beer.

My husband and I chose Squids over other suggestions in our guide book and so glad we did. I had Sweet Soy Salmon while my husband who loves Mussels, had the Grilled Mussel Tray. Both were excellent - a real taste sensation. The staff were most accommodating, very pleasant and helpful. Our only regret is that we tried a different restaurant the next night (our last night in Whitianga).

Nice small cozy place near the marina with a good view of the nearby yachts good selection of wines and local craft beers. Menu has everything from steaks to seafood. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Was just reminiscing with my buddy about our time at Squids last year. He had a shrimp pasta dish and calamari. I had a kilo of mussels served with their home made bread to soak up the sauce. It was all so good I'm writing a midnight review 13 months after the fact. We liked the beer selection but we loved their service. Certainly hope to make it back to Squids someday!

Excellent food here. Chowder was amazing (could’ve had this as a main), great tuna and fish chips. Fish was cooked perfectly. Service was great. Would happily come back here. Thank you!

We stopped here for lunch, had the sesame tarakihi and salt and pepper squid. I only had the kids dish (the squid), but no less effort was put into it, the squid was delicious. The tarakihi was cooked excellently and the sesame coating was tasty, along with "maybe the best salad I've had". Lemon lime and bitters was mixed as I ordered, and iced chocolate was creamy and delicious. Service was excellent, the girl who served us was cheerful and helpful. If we didn't live 6+ hours away I'd be here all the time. Not to mention the prices were quite reasonable. Great job, staff.

Our entree was amazing . Fish Masala fritter (?) with dip.Our mains- the Best fish and chips we've heard in years. Fish of the day was Hapuka so we grasped our chance in tasting it. Was the best choice. Super crispy double fried chips..yummy. Our dessert was amzing as well. The banana rolls deep fried with ice cream is to die for. Defo for sweet toothers 😁. The manager on duty was amazing. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and she would come in to check on us regularily even when the place got busy. Defo coming back.

Great selection of various seafood dishes. Well presented food. Really good friendly service. Worth a revisit next time in Whitianga.

Great experience. Had the fish and chips (red snapper). Definitely recommend it. Save some room for dessert and get the banana spring rolls.
