Review Salt Restaurant & Bar - Whitianga

Lets Go
Traditional and old fashioned food presented well. We need to keep restaurants like this alive. Staff was very proactive and pleasant. Desserts were above par. Good choice of drinks and cocktails. Location speaks for itself.

We had a group of 8 people. The service was great and most things came out at the same time. My friend said that the prawn linguine was amazing. I had the dumplings that were very nice and a good flavour unfortunately they were swimming in oil which wasn't great. We all had desserts and they were fantastic. The cocktail menu is awesome and a good selection of non alcoholic beverages were available which is amazing. I had an iced coffee and it was awesome. I found the price of everything very reasonable for the quality. Will definitely be going there again. Went again 😁, had full dinner with entrée everything was fantastic 😍 Calamari was excellent, my steak with blue cheese was perfectly cooked and so yummy.

We were here for desert last night and it was such a beautiful place. The waitress serving us was so kind, gave us a beautiful seat outside with couches with beautiful views. We ordered a creme brûlée and the chocolate lava cake and 2 hot chocolates. All were absolutely delicious. We really appreciate the kind service.

Ā beautiful location overlooking the marina. Unfortunately it was cold with the wind. The 4 bacon scallops presented in scallop shells were glorious. I enjoyed my cauliflower steak (I don't usually eat vegan, but enjoyed the change). My friend found her calamari bland.

I had come here last night with my partner and we were served by two great waitresses. We had a splendid evening with our desserts and hot chocolates which weren't on the menu but was still prepared for us and it was all a great experience

Lovely lunchtime special and the views are amazing.

What a spot, (fantastic weather always helps), right on the marina. I had the battered jumbo prawns - delicious - and the ceviche - which would've been delicious but for, what I considered to be an over-exuberance of baby coriander (which incidentally, is far more hideous than the adult version). My fault entirely of course, there it was on the menu, I just stopped reading at ceviche.

Great food. There was a fairly long wait for food but there quite a few more people than usual and the wait staff were great at attending to us while we waited and even chucked in some drinks and desserts on the house

There's been some mixed reviews here recently, but on a quietish Sunday, the food and service was perfect. Platter was so good (the prawns in particular were devine), and the best dumplings and kumara fries. Emersons range on tap was a good pint too. Couldn't fault it. Delicious!

The staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks were spectacular. And the atmosphere was beautiful with the fire keeping us all toasty and warm whilst watching the blustery wet weather outside. We will definitely go back for more

A true highlight of our trip to the Coromandel peninsula. Food was beyond delicious and the staff were just wonderful. Could not recommend this lovely restaurant more highly!

Beautiful views of the harbour, friendly staff and a decent selection of food and drink. Food is good rather than great but solid portion sizes and would recommend for a family meal out.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at salt. The waterside views were stunning and the seafood was some of the freshest I've ever had. The service was also top-notch, making for a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Soft shell crab was a good feed. Tasty and generous. Oysters were ok, they needed to do a better job of cleaning the shells before serving as it's a bit off putting seeing other critters on the plate. In Salt's defense they have us more after fixing up and didn't charge. Thanks Salt crew

Great location- a scenic view of the marina, helpful friendly service. We enjoyed a shared seafood platter. Desert was nice but a little pricey for what it was. Would go again.
