Review Angus Steak House - Auckland Central

Luis Ganontrox Fidalgo
This is a great place for anyone who love a steak in Auckland. The meat has a high quality, 100% from NZ and you are able to see how fresh each piece are before the chef cooks. The steaks are a great call, each come with fresh salad side. The sides options are very good and interesting. For this first trial, we choose the McCain 10 mm Surecrisp and the creamy mushroom. Both options were great, the chips were crispy after 20 minutes in our table. For the dessert, we choose the mudcake chocolate. Is a rich dessert after eating an amazing meal. The prices are fair since each steak has around more than 500 g. In summary, this is a place that we pretend to go back many times to enjoy the experience of eating a great streak.

We were looking for a great place for dinner near our hotel and this place was fantastic! The place was packed but the wait was only 30 minutes so they moved quickly. And you can see the steaks in the fridge and grilling right as you enter. The meats were huge and very buttery and juicy. I had the lamb rump which was very flavorful. My husband had the Scotch steak which he enjoyed. New Zealand meat is very tasty. We topped up with garlic bread (very garlicy) and mint peas (also delicious).

This place is a hidden gem located in an alley. Whenever I travel to Auckland, I always have my 7pm dinner at Angus. The staff are wonderful and the steak selection is the best. Angus is more casual than other steakhouses in Auckland, which makes it even more appealing. My favourite menu is eye fillet steak with grilled onions, fries, salad and peppercorn sauce. With a Steinlager Pure, it is a real treat. Just don't sit at table 34, because that's my "reserved" seat :)

Nice aesthetic, well lit venue. There's a waiting area for those that didn't book in advance. Pretty nice thick chunks of steak of all kinds at a pretty high price point of $48 as of November 2023.

We had the eye filet and scotch steak with creamy mushroom. Both steaks were delicious and tender and juicy and huge portions. You need to order sauce as extra as steaks only came with salad.

Finally made it to the Angus steak house 😁 I got a Sirloin with an egg on top, salad & chips on the side - the perfect steak meal. That was a mean feed and I would go back again. Thank you for the food.
Rook De Mel
Tried the sirloin, the lamb rump and the sauteed mushrooms. Great price to portion and tasty. Likely to return, hence the 4*. Only reason i haven't left a 5* is i have no point of comparison, at time of writing i would consider this my go to steakhouse in Auckland.

Amazing meat. If you are a meat lover that is the perfect place. Be aware...the meat portion is huge :D would recommend if you are looking for good meat and chill-relax atmosphere.

Food is excellent, steaks are melting in mouth. Compliments to the Chef. Mains served on the warm plate to prevent steak from cooling is really nice, and the ambient in the restaurant is comfy, gives a bit sense of industrial-ish style. Staff is lovley and prices match the quality.

Our first steak house restaurant was delicious to the core. Myself and my sons had Scotch fillet steak (medium BBQd to perfection) with egg and added sides of creamy mushrooms, fried onions and fries. Desert was nice. Service was top notch.

Their website claims that they have the "Biggest and Best Steaks" in town. <br/><br/>What I liked: <br/><br/>1.The convivial atmosphere and the sense of there is a lot going on - Meat buffet meets open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. Lots of happy activity, noise, good smells. Expect to queue so make a reservation ahead. Note their no-sharing policy and minimum NZ$9 per head charge. Lunch is a 250g cut of meat + Salad bar for NZ$31.90 or just NZ$16.80 for the salad bar. Very hungry? do the Dinner size option which is also available at lunch -NZ$43.90 with salad bar and offers a choice of any cut of meat. Portions are sizeable. <br/><br/>2. Friendly chefs chat with you as they cook. Had the eye fillet. Lots of different cuts to choose from all laid out on ice - a bit like a supermarket butchery - large and generous cuts. Pork, chicken and lamb available too although the main stay is definitely the beef. <br/><br/>3. A good salad bar spread is available. Don't fill up on it or you won't have space for the meat. You can have the salad bar without the meat as a substantial meal on its own. Desserts, Sides, Starters and Drinks are all separate to the main course and the salad bar. There is a one bill per table policy so if you have a gang going dutch - get someone to sign it off and split your share off separately. Don't expect the restaurant to bother with the laborious admin of separate cheques.<br/><br/>Was too busy easting to take pics of this meal so will have to add them the next time.

Steaks wasn't cook right, ordered medium rare and comes almost medium well. The steak wasn't at a steakhouse quality. My first visit and disappointed
Nnochi
Bit disappointed at the steak quality. Asked for rare but got almost a medium. None of the steak on our table were cooked right. The sides were probably the highlight of this meal.
Reg White
Limited menu but the meals are good. I would go back if there was a more expansive menu

I dined here this evening with 2 of my friends and I was so disappointed. First, the red wine glass was not cleaned, there were stains on it. The staff didn’t seem to be happy while working (especially when I ordered), maybe that was the reason why my steak was made medium rare even though I ordered it medium. Beside the manager, nobody came to check on us whether we are OK or not. I ate my steak half way and I couldn’t finish it but literally nobody came to ask for a reason. And the fries was not fully cooked through. On the other hand, the wine and the meat was fine.<br/><br/>I truly hope that this situation won’t happen again to any other customers.

Came here a while back, and was so impressed with the location, service and taste of the food here. The service was so pleasing and the location is quite close to anywhere in town so it’s not to hard to get there. Even though the restaurant is quite small i’d recommend to book to get a good seat. The way the food was presented was really impressive and unique. You get to choose which piece of steak or any meat you’d like to eat. And was so happy when i realised that there was a salad buffet included into the pricing of the meat. Highly recommend.

I always go to this restaurant for dinner.  The steak is served with large portion and with reasonable price. And the salad bar is free when you order a steak. Sometimes I ordered a scotch fillet and I even cannot finish it. I highly recommend it.

Great food. Awesome venue. Do only thing I would criticize would be the staff. Some of the staff were great, however some really let the team down. We spent nearly $500 and was still spoken to rudely. Other than that it was 5 star.

Angus steakhouse got the huge steaks that i can only eat half and feel full for whole night.... My husband loves steaks and he think it is just right how angus cooked it. Service a bit slow but staffs are friendly.

Last time be here was in my honey moon. After 4 year, still feel good and can’t finish one steak even just scotch…My dear hus got one T-bone and another 2/3 scotch fillet.

Big massive steak that you get to choose and a salad buffet! Saaaaaaahhhhh good! 10/10<br/>Hidden away down a lane but is definitely renowned for their steak portions, chef has a hot plate right in the dining area and cooks your steak to your liking. One of my fav spots.
Foodie
Too big pieces. Not very appealing to eat. Should also add other options to menu.<br/>French fries were good. Dont think I will go back there again.

Saturday steak night with my friends! All salad you can eat with $16. We ordered T-bone, Eye fillet, Sirlon and lamb rack. I like lamb rack the most which is tender and savory. Really enjoyed the sound of meat sizzling. 😍<br/>
Julie Allison
Not so good as before. Maybe they have changed hand. The meat is not fresh and the buffet has few things to choose. The price also increase a lot. Wasting time not recommend.

Party killer!!! Worst experience ever!!!! We’ve been there many times & found it good so we brought my mum there for her birthday, along with our kids. <br/>As they don’t have a kids menu, so we have always been bringing our own food there to feed the kids on previous times. They never said anything each time we brought food. Suddenly, last night one of their smarty pants staff tells us off for bringing food there & then goes & tell the manager to come tell us off. Manager said, it’s policy that I have to charge you $9 per child even if they are not eating our food & they are not supposed to eat food that’s from here. No restaurant allows that. <br/>Well, ok, I understand it’s not allowed to bring outside food to eat if it’s an adult, but what about kids under 3 years old and have food allergies like my daughter??? Do u expect them to order a steak?!! Plus, you can’t claim your restaurant to be “kids friendly” when you don’t even have a kids menu!!!<br/>It’s annoying when they say “policy”, but where is the policy written??<br/>Also, they charge $2 per person if you have your birthday cake there! <br/>We were so extremely not happy and disappointed with the service, despite the nice food. <br/>My Mum’s birthday party was pretty much ruined and we will definitely not recommend anyone, especially with kids, to go there!!!

Lovely steak . Salad bar average and could be updated with new recipes , when busy you can wait uptoo 30 min to be seated . We were so close to the next punters too :/
Happy Eater
Regular customer here! Service is always good. Quickly attended to and seated, if you have never been before the staff explain how it all works. <br/><br/>We usually opt for a steak and a lamb rack. Lamb rack won’t fill a big eater up but it’s delicious! Steaks are massive! Your able to pick your cut and take it to the chef for how you want it cooked. All you can eat salad bar - has greens, potatoes, pasta and others. <br/><br/>Not an expensive option if you only go with steak and salad. Ordering sides will increase your bill quite high, they are not needed, you’ll fill up. Best steak house in Auckland. Hands down.

steak was ok not great, was cooked perfectly but quality not really that great. service was below average.... nothing was really explained. not in a hurry to return any time soon !

A friend has recommended this place last night, so we went and tried it. <br/><br/>I thought it’s a cool concept that you get to choose your own meat, have the guys cook it however you like and the sides salad are like a buffet style, but you can only have one plate and the plates are quite small. I felt like once I picked up some salad or tomatoes, the plate can’t fit anything else, which means I don’t get to try all the sides they have. <br/><br/>The only thing that I didn’t feel quite comfortable in was probably the environment. It’s a small and cozy place, but it has given me the feeling that although it’s small, they will fit in as many tables as they could, which means walking in and out you would have to give ways to people coming your way. The tables are placed too close to each other and overall it felt like steaks in a fast food place. <br/>
Garth Hauraki
Maaaaate meat is over the moon cooked how you want!!! Enjoy with Fries n mushrooms and a couple of Cervezas, perfect! Would’ve been a five star experience if they had a bigger dessert menu.
Liksya
Very cozyy. Explained my 4.5<br/><br/>However, the staff were all well trained! Very amazing to watch as they work as a team. Awesome. We didnt even have to leave our names or table numbers as we hand our chosen steaks to the chef. Which proves how wonderful their system are.<br/><br/>Foodwise. HUGE SERVING. STEAK WAS SPOT ON TEMPERATURES. Worth the momey really. <br/><br/>Will definitely recommend! I love this place!

Vague waitress , warm beer and tough steak , what a shame this iconic Auckland steakhouse has been ruined . I had recommended it to friends based on years of experience when it was in Albert st and they were so disappointed that none of us will ever go back .

I picked this place today because I wanted to treat a couple of out of town guests to a nice steak and heard good things about this place. Upon arrival we were smothered by the heat and when we asked the server if they could turn on the fan or aircon. We were simply told that they didn't have it - no apologies for the obviously blistering hot environment they just acted as if this was normal that restaurants don't have any kind of ventilation - strike one. <br/><br/>The food was good, but we were told that we couldn't share the very large portions of meat which is absolutely ridiculous . Strike two.<br/><br/>Service otherwise okay hence the 1.5 rating.<br/><br/>Would I go back? Never.

Worst experience ever. I don’t really want to go through the whole story because It was too long. But what I want to say is nobody wants to hear some inappropriate words when having dinner in a restaurant. The lady who was also the manager there gave us a terrible service I’ve ever experienced and kept trying to educate me I was wrong with a very rude tone. Even worse, because of she is the manager, I didn’t even have anybody to complain to. Worst of all, I even didn’t get a appropriate. During the whole time, she was being so arrogant and rude!!! So ridiculous!! People went to a restaurant for good food and service but not for having a quarrel or even a lesson. Disappointed. Never go there again. Sincerely wish the owner can see this review, this kind of employee definitely will NOT do your business any good!!!!

Big piece of steak! It is too much for ladies. Lol. Good price for This portion however a bit lacking of seasoning. My steak is a bit over than medium which I requested.

LOVE A BIG STEAK THAT DOESN'T ROB THE BANK???<br/><br/>Obviously not the best cuts in the world, but eating a large med rare steak at a bargain is always gangster AF.<br/><br/>Large selection of salad buffet, but no one wants photos of those so I stuck with the steaks. They also have venison and lamb and pork!<br/><br/>perfect when you need a lot of protein, and/or gatherings with ladies' & mates<br/><br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Presentation: 4/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Food Quality: 3/5<br/>Food Quantity: 4/5<br/>Price PP: $40+

Salad bar was ok, but the steak was the best I have ever had. And the guy on the grill was very cheerful. He cooked my steak to perfection.<br/>Would go again any time.

Went there the other day with a friend- outstanding steak! The best steak (eye fillet) I've had in Auckland- I've only had better on Norfolk Island. Service was good and it was quite a nice ambience. Salad options were very basic- but sufficient. Pricey but worth it!

very big steak~we r choose one eye fillet and one<br/>salsa bar only~just so so~but waitress so nice~help my mum choose steak and wine~thx!😬😬😬

Took my partner for his birthday. When we came in we waited for a while for someone to show us the seat. The person left us without saying a word. We had too wait for a long time and we had to ask them for the menu as they were busy clearing the tables and was just ignoring us. It felt like clearing the tables are on the priority list that serving us. It was also dissapointing to see that the other customers who just arrived are getting served the moment they sat on their table. When we were ready for our order no one was there to explain us on what to do and that we're supposed to fall in line just to order our steaks and get them cooked. When the food finally came we have no cutlery and plates and we waited for a while again before finally eating our food. The beef steak was ok. But the pork steak was very dry and almost burnt that I can't hardly eat it. I'm not great at cooking but it felt like i can cook a better steak at home than this place. It is also pricey. It was the worst dining experience so far and i regret bringing my partner in this place for his birthday. Never going back to this place as it is a waste of time and money.

I have mixed feelings about this place. This a signature restaurant very much so reflects from its name. We went there for dinner one of the weekdays and it was packed and Noisy. The staff is friendly but extremely busy as this place is literally overflowing with people, we had to move our chair n squeeze in so another couple could sit behind us. I think they can really create some space around. <br/>Okay, this place means business and rightly so. You can chose your own selection of cut from a fair variety and take it to the chef who grills it in front of you, alongside there is a open salad bar which honestly was pretty good. However the meat is heavy and was cooked well - let me just put it this way, I could cook this at home too. I didn't get the steak feel (the moist flavoursome) to be honest. I feel the place is overpriced, you could get better ambiance/ service and food down the road for the same price. <br/>We had to try the place cause love for steak and definitely feel it's worth a try once.

Food is great, decent selection of salads, love the steak there. Just the seating is quite squished and the service could be a little more friendlier. We were seated with mostly Asians like ourselves, the lower level was quite spacious, maybe due to reservations, but it felt like all the Asian people were put upstairs.

Visited The Angus steak house for the first time with a few friends back in early August and enjoyed the food and service immensely! I was told it can be very busy but when we arrived it seemed fairly quiet(obviously not a peak time), we were greeted warmly by the manager and a waitress who seated us almost immediately. She explained the process(you choose your cut and let the chef know how you want it cooked and to add/choose your sides as well as advised us to help ourselves to the salad bar). Super easy and the chef was also very helpful and informative on the menu. We ordered a few platters of appetisers and they were served promptly with water and drinks. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and very clear. Our steaks finally came and we were completely blown away by the sheer size of them lol It was clear we were about to suffer some major meat sweats while trying to get through what looked like a whole side of a cow! Ok I'm exaggerating a little but seriously they are HUGE! Our waitress continued to check up on us which we loved! Everything that we ordered was cooked to perfection!!!👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 Could not find fault with anything. And then after a short breather someone mentioned "DESSERT?" Already suffering a food coma we thought Why Not! My dessert was just as massive! I swear we waddled back to our cars that day. Thank you again to the staff, the manager, our waitress and the chef!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😋 Would not hesitate coming here again😉👌🏽

Awesome place for dinner. high quality steak! I had the Scotch fillet medium rare with mushrooms and it was cooked to perfection. could do better with the salad bar but I came here for a hearty steak and thats what I got. decor has a great vibe to it and staff delivered great service. I would come here every week if I could.

Came to Angus Steakhouse for dinner, and though considered pricey for a struggling student like me, dining here was a wonderful experience<br/><br/>The unlimited buffet-styled salad bar had a variation of salads and snacks, all serving as a great palate-cleanser, making it great accompanied by the rich steak <br/><br/>The steak itself had several different cuts to choose from, all varying in size but priced the same. <br/>I chose the eye-fillet cut and it was cooked perfectly (medium rare), as per my instructions to the friendly head chef <br/><br/>I also ordered a side of wedges + sour cream that came out fresh, hot & crispy that altogether made the meal perfect <br/><br/>Angus Steakhouse is a great place to go for those who have a bit more money to spare and love to get their share of delicious steak + side dishes - and was overall a great experience. <br/><br/>I'd definitely go again (on special occasions) 😁❤️😋

This place was so busy. However, the staff was soooo friendly, helpful, and accommodating while they were busy doing their "stuff". The steak was huge. Cooked perfectly. Taste great. All-you-can-eat salad bar.<br/><br/>The only downside (for me anyway) is when it was busy (like last night), the salad bar and the raw steak were not refilled quick enough.<br/><br/>We will be back to try other steaks........
Jenz
Fooooooood was absolutely amazing. We visit almost once a month because of their excellent customer service and really delicious steaks. Staff are really friendly as well, always a good vibe. Love it so much ❤️

Super satisfying dining experience!<br/><br/>The staff were friendly and all of the steak cuts were HUGE! Steaks were cooked perfectly and the fries were amazing! <br/><br/>The salads were great for grazing while waiting for the steaks to be cooked. I wouldn't recommend having too much though as the steaks are definitely the main highlight of this place.<br/><br/>Always a great place to come if you just want some good steaks with no strings attached.

A no-frills, reasonably priced steak house, with huge high-quality steaks cooked to perfection!<br/><br/>PROS:<br/>- No-frills, casual environment<br/>- You can pick your on steaks; some are enormous<br/>- Meat quality is excellent<br/>- The grill master knows his thing; always cooks the steaks as ordered <br/>- Reasonably priced - it won't set you back a fortune<br/>- Friendly staff<br/>- Opens until late (11 pm)<br/><br/>CONS:<br/>- The salad bar is mostly ready-made pre-packaged salads. Some taste alright, but some tastes bad. You are not here to eat salad anyways!<br/><br/>I've been to Angus a few times, and I was never disappointed. Actually, I might head down there tonight!
Connor X
I would always come here when I'm craving a large juicy steak to statisfy my tastebuds. You get to pick and choose the cut of meat, I'd recommend Sirloin and T-bone. Nice place to visit when starving for a big slab of beef.
Joseph Taleni
Came here with the flatmate for dinner one day.  The place was very busy at the time.  <br/>I am one who can normally eat alot but do not underestimate this place.  <br/>I ordered the T-Bone steak and it was sooooo big.  My steak was cooked appropriately (medium rare) and I was happy with it.  I must admit I struggled trying to finish it.  <br/>The salad bar options were pretty decent but it did take the staff a while to refill at times. <br/>The mushrooms were a little disappointing for my likely but still really good.  <br/><br/>Keen to try this place again. <br/><br/>WORTH IT? <br/>Yup
TheMʌverick
It's been quite a while since I've been here. The steaks were incredible, I can't comment too much on the salad bar because f*** salad. The place gets pretty busy and seems cramped during peak hours which triggers my claustrophobia and I can't keep track of everything happening around me - "why must you keep track of everything around you??" I hear you say? I'm a survivalist (don't you dare call it paranoia) and sh*t can pop off anywhere, anytime therefore I MUST KNOW!!!! Nice little steakhouse though :)

Quite disappointed really: once we had chosen we sat at our table for a further 35 minutes before asking staff where our food was, the first staff member didn't understand so asked another, the next one did not speak any English and just kept saying "steak??" With a confused look on her face. Finally the steak came, but without any of the sides we had ordered. This dinner took well over 2 hours (which unfortunately resulted in a parking fine) the steak was good, the staff were friendly (just very poor English and unattentitive) and the salads were good (most were empty though and not refilled while there). But because of the wait times, and really just poor service no matter how 'friendly' the staff were this dining experience was only average.

Went for a work function end of year. If you love steak this is the place for you in Auckland, recommend the sirloin steak and mushrooms. Only downfall place was over crowded with seating you couldn't get out of your chair with out hitting in to the person next to you and because the meat comes on hot plates and plus the body warmth it gets really stuffy and your literally sweating while eating your steak. Service people are great though

My partner really wanted to try out this place so I decided to take him here for his birthday. We were both looking forward to it cos we were super hungry. Unfortunately they were super busy so we had to wait. <br/><br/>Once we got seated, our waitress did explain on what the deal was but we were still left confused. Like go we go get out steak now or do we let them take our order kinda thing. Took us a while to understand. It was a pick which piece of steak you want and there's an all you can eat salad bar. <br/><br/>I went for the ribeye fillet with mushrooms on the side and my partner went for the sirloin. The steak itself was beautiful. Just how we asked for it (medium rare for me) not dry, chewy or too rare which was awesome. Stink thing was sautéed mushrooms were $7.50!!!!!!!!! Like how freakin' ridiculous is that... If I had known beforehand, I would've said no but found that out afterwards 😩<br/><br/>The all you can eat salad bar was kinda crap... I watched it for a long time (we were seated upstairs right above it) and certain things was like empty and wasn't refilled for the longest time. <br/><br/>Also, we decided why not have dessert here cos it was getting late. Worst decision ever!! Ordered the apple strudel and can we just say how SH*T it was?? Literally the best thing on that plate was the vanilla ice cream. The strudel itself - soggy pastry. Most likely heated up in the microwave. Couldn't even "cut" it with the spoon. Apples inside was sad and soggy as well. And it was not even worth $12 or whatever the ridiculous price was. Rip. Off. <br/><br/>Pros <br/>- steak was definitely cooked and seasoned to perfection 👌🏽<br/>- friendly staff <br/><br/>Cons <br/>- salad bar. <br/>- dessert<br/> - they need more attentive staff. Noticed the tables nearby didn't get cleared at all while we were there or cleared a while later. <br/>- need BETTER ventilation considering what they're cooking/cooking with. It was f&%king hot inside especially during summer and upstairs where there was no ventilation where we were sitting. I saw a fan in the corner for the corner table but didn't reach us. Was SO hot, it was like we were in a sauna or something and we were literally sweating bucketloads. Not cool or enjoyable 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

This place is heaven for anyone that loves a good steak. Its an awesome experience, you get to choose your cut of steak and sides (the fries are super golden and crunchy) and watch the chef cook it to your taste in front of you. There are a selection of salads and fresh sides that you can fill your plate up with aswell- you would never leave hungry here. <br/>Can't think of a single thing that needs to be improved here :)
Meg
Large portion size for a good price. Salad bar a little bit disappointing however I wasn't too worried as the steak was almost perfect! <br/>Went on a Friday night, had to book as it was nearly full house!
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered: <br/>2x Steak Mains<br/>1x Fries<br/>1x Sprite<br/><br/>Bill: $89.30<br/><br/>Big tummy: One of my favourite steakhouses in Auckland (I consider Jervois Steakhouse to be THE best, Meatery to be the best value - Angus Steakhouse is nestled somewhere in between), I've been here multiple times and, more often that not, I leave completely satisfied and in a severe food coma (seriously - the size of the steaks here are just next level). <br/>To be honest, this particular visit didn't quite meet the expectations I usually have for ASH (both of our steaks were under-cooked and instead of coming out first, our fries arrived when we were already half-way through our steaks), but I've been here enough times (when everything has clicked) to know that it might've just been an off night. <br/>Definite + points though for seating us almost immediately, even though we were ridiculously early for our reservation.<br/><br/>Little tummy: This was my first visit to Angus Steakhouse and for a girl of my stature, they basically offer never-ending steak and salad. You certainly won't leave ASH hungry, that's for sure. I did my best to take the steak down, but still ended up carrying half of it home. <br/>The steak itself might've been under-cooked (we asked for well-done and were served medium at best - I'm guessing they allow for it to cook a bit more while it's on the sizzling plate, but when I cut into it, it was still bleeding), but it was seasoned to perfection. I loved the salad bar too - they offered a great selection of different salads and dressings. The fries were a bit of let down - more due to the fact that they were served when we were already well into our steaks and already getting too full to eat them. I really would've liked for them to have been served before the steaks came out. <br/>All-in-all though, it was still a great experience and we'd happily come back.
Miura Elikana
If you are a steak person and live in Auckland. This is where you need to dine. You choose your steak that you want. Advise the chef how you like it and then return to your table to be served. A salad bar is available for you to help yourself with. The steak is usually big so there isn't room for anything else. Food coma is the end result.

Visited here on Saturday 3 December with my wife and two kids, I have to confess at being here before but since I found it so good last time, I didnt hesitate in comming here again.<br/>If a large steak is your thing - your in the right place and cooked to perfection. I chose the venision steak for a change and I have to say, I would certainly order one again without hesitation!<br/>Great place for canivours, sorry vegitarians - you will be disapointed!
Eden OBrien Ford
If you're looking for a decent steak, at a decent (for Auckland standards) price in the city then this is the steak house for you!<br/><br/>It's a 'choose your cut of steak and get it cooked' kind of place, so you get to see the steak pre-cooking which is great.<br/>You then get to chose which cut you would like (rump, eye fillet, sirloin etc) and then up at the girl you can choose how you would like it cooked (medium, rare, well done etc) and which seasonings you want.<br/><br/>We got sirloin and eye fillet, 1 medium and one medium rare, both with garlic butter, salt and pepper. It was de-li-cious!<br/>They had the medium rare cooked peeeefectly, and the steak was juicy and soft and full of flavour.<br/><br/>They have a buffet style all you can eat salad bar that goes with the steak, which had a selection of salads be it green, Vegas or pasta salads, and a selection of sauces and breads.<br/><br/>Fries can be order seperate along with other sides, but overall this place was delicious.<br/><br/>My only criticism would be that the service could've improved. The staff were pretty lack lustre which made the experience a little bit less exciting than it could have been, and the explanation of how the restaurant worked was not given to us without us asking, which was a little confusing.<br/><br/>Overall, the food and price was good, and I would go back to satisfy must walk craving. Also great for large groups of people who eat too much 😁

Came for dinner due to my need for a hearty steak. The service was good, it had a relaxed vibe regardless of the people who show up (they seemed the business type). The place is great! It's quite clean and the smell of steak set the mood. I picked a thick sirloin, which I hoped would be cooked perfectly for the $40ish dollar price tag. The salad bar is minimal, but to be honest i'm here for the meat though I would like a better salad bar with more flavoursome options. The salad<br/>bar was bland overall. I ordered fries, which were well cooked. The steak came out on a sizzle plate. Regardless, the steak was perfect! I wish there was more options of sauce with the steak, however simple pepper and salt was enough for me. I ate the whole thing, I was happy pay $50 bucks for the meal and would happily come back again for a hearty steak fix.

Big juicy steak.<br/><br/>If this is what you are looking for then definitely come to Angus Steakhouse. $40 steak and a salad buffet. Not bad for the city at all.<br/><br/>The scotch fillet was done with garlic, salt and pepper which backs the simplistic method of just sticking to one thing and doing it right.<br/><br/>The customer service was too chill to add much value but they were pleasant overall. Top notch.<br/><br/>

Beautiful steaks, but some items can be a bit over priced and the tables are pretty cramped. But they aren't lying when they say they have the biggest steaks! 😂😀
Priscilla Khang
We arrived at 5:30 and got seated around 6pm because we didn't book beforehand. The quality of the steaks are top notch here. I got the eye fillet and my partner got the sirloin. The meats were cooked to perfection. My partner has been to this restaurant at least 4 times now and he said each time, the chef is consistent and never fails to disappoint. I would recommend this place to all steak lovers and would suggest to book a table and to get in early as this place gets packed!

I come often to Auckland for work and I must say every single time I make it here I made it a ritual to come to this restaurant for steak. I love how it's one set price for any steak you choose. The grill guy always assists you in choosing the steak to your liking. It also has all you can eat salad bar that's included. If your a meat lover I would recommend it.
Chris Kilpatrick
If I could give a 3.7, I would of but not a 4!<br/><br/>So we arrived as walk ins- short wait were seated.<br/><br/>Served a beer, read menu, menu states that you will be escorted to choose your meat.<br/><br/>15 mins later...<br/><br/>Asked and were told to go up and choose, OK. Minimal cuts available, chose a 450 gm scotch! $39<br/><br/>Ordered chips and mushrooms, both extras.<br/><br/>Service was average at best, no water, drinks ran out, twice, couldn't understand English.<br/><br/>Food was good, very good and a lot of it! Steak cooked beautifully with great glaciers, good chips and great mushrooms. <br/><br/>A pity the service couldn't support the level of good!<br/>If your hungry and aren't fussed about the service, the food is very good. Drinks and good $60

Delicious steak and a warm and inviting environment. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I truly enjoyed my dinner date here and totally plan on coming back in the future.

Good old Angus...not too bad but grill not hot enough. Still delicious however marbled fat not rendered down enough...Excellent service 😊😊😊
Audrey
The restaurant had a nice ambient feel, and it was lovely to be able to pick which cut of meat you wanted by sifting through the raw meat by yourself. MASSIVE meat portions, meat is cooked reasonably well however poorly seasoned.
Jonnye Eswick
Very poor, meat hardly seasoned, stated to waitress 'I would like well-cooked' in other words not raw, when me and the missus got served the steaks still had blood in it.  I understand mistakes happen but not at bloody $50 a head they shouldn't!   The place looks cool the waitress was understanding but as for their manager I think they ought to learn customer service, was thinking to decline further eating and pay for drinks instead but ended up paying the $106 or so - will never go again, rather KFC or Carls Jr anyday to this rubbish!

Went here last night for the first time and will definitely be back! The staff were all<br/>Very friendly and smiley and very helpful! The selection of steaks was amazing and the size of them wow great quality for money! Salad bar was gorgeous! The chef was very friendly and makes a great steak! Definitely the most tastiest steak I've ever had just melted in the mouth! Great work team! Can't wait to come back :)

Usually I ask to cook stake with medium, then I will get it with medium well. Same situation was happened at Angus Stake house. Because they cooked all stakes on fire directly, so my one was burnt. ㅜ.ㅜ Really hard to chew!
Tania Dawson
Great value for money when you can choose your cut which can be 2-3 inch thick and all you can eat salad bar for approx 40 per person. If I don't finish my steak I just take it home and make a steak sandwich the next day.<br/><br/>This place is always packed and busy which means their is usually a waiting time. The restaurant is quite narrow and there is minimal space. I really dislike being seated in the upstairs section as it can get very hot but I can see why they need the extra space<br/><br/>All in all I have taken most of my family here and often go for date night<br/>

This place is always busy. Visited on a Friday night and as usual it was packed, even when we arrived at 8.30pm. We were seated near the salad bar with our baby stroller. The tables were extremely close to each other, not a spot to pick for a romantic first date. <br/>The steak here as usual are fresh and cooked to your liking. I was happy with my piece of eye fillet steak but somewhat disappointed with the salad bar. Although it was past 9pm, the place was still pack with people but they refuse to refill the salad bar, most of the things were empty and when asked to be refilled, answer was 'no'. Overall this is a place to go to for a filling meal but not anything romantic and definitely try to get there early to ensure you can get your fair share of the salad in the bar!
Karen
I would highly recommend this place for steak lovers! <br/><br/>Great quality meats where you get to choose your cut and all you can eat salad bar. The meat is cooked how you like with your choice of sauce, I chose rump and it was cooked exactly how I liked. Often a lot of places vary with their definition of what is rare and what is medium-rare, but it was spot on here. Perfect for $40 in my opinion.
FoodiePhysician
Casual and friendly steak house<br/><br/>Good range of meats cooked to your preferences and served on a hot sizzling plate, goes for about $40 per person. Comes with all you can eat self serve salad bar.<br/><br/>Steak is pretty good but plain. For steak enthuisiasts who can cook up a mean one on their own setup at home, its a bit expensive for something that can be achieved at home. Good for a boys get together and sorts but meh for a casual dinner out.<br/><br/>3.5 Yums

Love this place!! Staff are nice and friendly. Awesome portion of steak cooked to the right style of our own choice. Great combination of salad and love the fries. $100 for 2 is not so bad once in a while. Definitely will come back again :)
Rona Dalgleish
Great venison steak! Plentiful salad bar and not bad price either at $39 for the steak and unlimited salad combo. Only qualms would be that the dressings at the salad bar aren't labeled so you're not really sure what you're having until you're back at your table and also the waitress cleared our plates when I was still eating with my cutlery in my hands. Overall nice evening with tasty food but waitresses lacked enthusiasm with an exception of the lovely woman at the grill area. I'd come back again for sure 🍖

Sirloin and fillet.
Fylde
This venue really creates a dichotomy of diners - lovers and haters. Not really my bag but I understand why it appeals to some - one or two friends adore the place. The meat looks fresh but is presented in a corpse like manner. If you like a big slab of steak prepared well with friendly staff then this is the place for you.
Jayden Campbell
The only 5 star I've reviewed. Been here twice and my steak was so damn good each time! Both times I chose a generous sized eye fillet and it was marinated beautifully and cooked to a perfect medium rear. I wish my plate was bigger to fit more salad on, because the salad was also fantastic.
Jay
Some say bad things and some say good things about this place. The food itself is only 3/5 for its price but the service was promptly fast and kind so im giving another half point for this place. Salads were average. The cook on the meat was awesome! Right on medium rare but i think the meat itself is not a very good cut thats why people say its not as good as its price. I didnt think I wasted money because I used lunch time session for cheaper option.
JaimeC
It's definitely not the place you'd go for a first date nor is it one for anniversaries or special occasions.<br/><br/>Not bad for $38 - it IS a huge slab of meat chucked on the grill and served on a sizzling hot plate.<br/><br/>Oh and you HAVE one pass at the salad bar. <br/><br/>The rip off is that for $38: YOU HAVE TO ORDER A SIDE OF CHIPS! <br/><br/>Smart? Or sneaky? <br/><br/>
Monique Porteous
This place is pretty difficult to find the entrance for and the layout inside is kind of confusing. The staff are quite helpful though and they are well informed about the menu. The selection of meats available and types of cuts is very extensive, perfect for any meat eater. It is quite up there in price for the standard meal set but the meat is of a high quality. I chose the venison, it was MASSIVE and I had to give half to my friend to finish off. If you have a big appetite, THIS is the place!
Zoe Huang
It might be hard to find its proper entrance because it’s quite stealthy. It was quite busy and the steak is massive there!! You can choose your own kind of meat. T-bone, scotch fillet, eye fillet, lamb ribs etc. And they will BBQ your steak at an open kitchen just by the entrance where you can see them cooking. The salad is buffet style. I heard my friend say you can’t refill your salad plate there. But we didn’t know at that time and did refilled once, no one stopped us, LOL. $38 per person including one block of meat and buffet salad. And you can’t split your bill there, according to what their sign says. It's not cheap but a restaurant you must go once in your life time~
SS
Definitely more of a dining experience than good quality food. I had the eye fillet and my friend had the sirloin. Steaks were cooked well, slightly rarer than ordered but that's fine. I also felt as though the salad bar was too simple and lacked any real excitement. I also felt something was missing in terms of offers. I understand steakhouses pride themselves on the meat but simple things such as sauces were not available.<br/><br/>Try it for the experience! Or if you're super hungry and literally dying for a steak that's 500grams+ this place is perfect! Just don't expect too much outside of the steak sitting on a hot plate ☺️ I probably won't done here again, I personally feel there are many places which can wow me at the same price.
Michelle
Although I'm not a huge steak fan this place was just amazing pricey but amazing <br/>I totally would go back all they are missing is some eggs on the menu nothing beats eggs onions and steak with a side of fries <br/>Also onions price is not worth $6 pretty much got one big onion cut up and sautéed for the price of $6 <br/><br/>But I'll love to go back one day
Evaloni Bloomfield
Girls were nice at entrance Steak was sooooo good i could not finish mines. One thing i do suggest is its soo hot in there i dont know how others can sit in there and eat. Maybe have a open deck for those who dont enjoy eating in a hot room. Other then great place - will diffinately recommend

My bf and I are serious steak lovers! The whole experience is just worth the visit. I loved every minute of it from choosing your own cut of steak and even getting to cook my own and snap a few pictures. The people who run the place are warm and friendly and the waiters are always on to it. <br/><br/>I loved everything about this place and couldn't believe I hadn't ever heard of it! Looking forward to another visit!
Vanessa Morris
If your dining with serious carnivores, then this is the place for you. I've been here many times as my husband loves steak. This is defiantly a place he really enjoys. As for me..good range of salads and I prefer the ribs. All of which were cooked to perfection. Just this weekend past, we made a last minute booking for dining that evening. Got a table easily but they were very busy and we found the restaurant really really cold! I'd say 90% of the their customers were seated, eating with their puffer jackets on. <br/>Angus steak house, please invest in a heat pump. After all it is the middle of winter:)<br/>
Sophie Rivas Donald
Love this vibe at this place! If you want to take your boyfriend out this is the place to do it- he can choose his own piece of meat from the selection (it's a bloke thing). All varieties of cuts are available and the chefs cook it as asked. Service was great and didn't have to wait long. <br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Vibe: 5/5<br/>Overall: 10/10
Adeline
Like any typical steakhouse, don't expect an overly detailed menu nor any fanfare - it offers the basics - salad, chips, wedges, sauteed mushrooms, etc. But the good thing is you get to choose your own cut of meat and fill at the salad bar. The salad bar does not disappoint - they do not skimp on ingredients, so you have pretty choice as options ranging from alfafa sprouts to greens, chick peas, potato salad, cottage cheese, olives, etc. and a variety of dressings!<br/><br/>Massive proportions though - so be sure you go in hungry. Easy as billing system ($39 gets you as much salad as poss and a humongous slab of meat) - anything extra is an add-on. <br/><br/>Highly recommended if you just want something quick, easy and filling... or if you're just craving for some red meat.<br/>Ladies - be prepared to smell of barbecued meat once you walk out of the restaurant so if I were you i wont be wearing something too nice!
FOODFANATICJIMMY
Personally, didnt quite meet the expectations that I had. Now, the atmosphere of the restaurant is great. The display of meat and the salad bar, tempting! The portion of the meat is also very very good. HOWEVER, texture of the meat was quite tough and hard to swallow down. Considering the thickness of the meat, I can understand why this may be the case, but I would expect more from steak 'specialists.' But if you want decent steaks, great presentation and good service, then I'd recommend this place!
Kelly
If you're a lover of steak then you must hit up this restaurant!<br/><br/> You get to chose your own slice of raw meat (beef, venison, lamb) and chose how you'd like it to be cooked along with a salad bar buffet for a $39 per person.<br/> We both picked the scotch fillet and boy it easily would've been 500g or more of beefiness! <br/><br/> The food is great, the salad bar had a good variety. Our steaks were served on a heated sizzling plate which remained warm right till we finished our meal.<br/><br/> I'd like to mention however that the seating arrangements could be better, it was quite difficult to get into my seat as I was right behind another person. A real tight squeeze even for my size, it made dining a little uncomfortable as we kept bumping into each other. <br/>Other than that, the restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. Food was great! <br/> I'll definitely be back for more steak! 😁
Sarah S
Visited on a cold wintery night & the place was lit up & was super warm & inviting. Staff were lovely and explained how things worked. Loved the fact you could pick your own meat & there was such an awesome selection. Loved the fact you could see the chefs cooking it also. Steak was top notch my only negative would be there is a lack of steak sauces but would defo return! Salad buffet is an added bonus!
Acuario MI
I've been there once. It is absolutely one of the best place in city central to feed steak. You choose the part by yourself and tell chief directly what would you want but the space is little narrow to serve people over 4.
Brad Clark
What a wonderful little steakhouse that punches above its weight. The concept really works. You hand pick your choice of meat tell the chef directly how you like it and what with. Pickup some salad on your way back to your table and minutes later your dish is brought to you cooked exactly how you asked. My wife had the rump and i went with the lamb rack. Both were cooked bang on to our request. Fast freindly service and great ambuance. Highly recommend.
Jean Lee
Amazing steaks cooked to perfection - had the scotch fillet & rump. Service was fast despite being a Friday night. The salad bar was good - loved the variations. However, the restaurant is a little cramped so more than 4 people is a bit of a squeeze. Not recommended to accomodate large groups of people.
Isaac Valach
Have been wanting to try this place for a while & managed to get a date whom also liked a good piece of steak. <br/>Steaks are well portioned & plenty of other cuts to choose from as well. The salad bar is very limited but after all i guess this is a steak house & not a salad house??. Good qaulity cuts of prime meats.
Yasha Zadeh
best steaks I ever had. love the garlic sauce. been there few time and been served by good service. chief is really friendly and cooks the steaks exactly as how we want it. :)
Sheridan Sisnett
Amazing!! $40 for a massive steak (cooked perfectly to your choosing) and all u can eat salad bar. I'm a regular lol. Such good value for money...U definitely leave on a full stomach with leftovers for lunch the next day :-) Drinks r good prices too - $6 for most wines and beers. I love it! Only thing that could make it better is options of different sauces for your steak, but the garlic and pepper they offer is very generous and flavorsome.

I have walked passed this restaurant many times but have never tried it until this week when "Everybodies"(restaurant) was full, and we decided to give this restaurant a got. Upon arrival, i had no idea about the rules of this restaurant or any other information etc, so be aware. <br/><br/>Each person is about $40 which will include a piece of steak and a salad buffet. The sizes of the steak was HUGE, biggest steak i have ever seen. you are also not allowed to share 1 piece of steak between 2 people, otherwise they will charge you for 2 piece of steak eventho you only ordered 1.<br/><br/>In terms of value for money in relation to the size of the steak, is ok... but the pieces were just too big!<br/><br/>The good news is that the steak here were actually really really good, some of the best ones i have had! I had a medium rare eye fillet (huge piece) and it was beautifully cooked. I was very pleased with the juicy and tender steak. The meat was very fresh and the salads were also very nice. <br/><br/>However my friend also had a eye fillet and we asked for a medium rare, but her one was well-done. so the restaurant took $10 off out bill in the end, which we didn't mind. <br/><br/>I have never had so much steak in my life. I will return one day if my companion can eat 2 pieces of steak by him/herself. Overall we had a good dinning experience.
Kai Mai
Steaks are awesomely cooked by a 1 man chef but prices are ridiculous. $12 seafood platter entree consisted of 3 squid rings, 2 prawns & 2 scallops. Salad bar quite dull, no real attempt to put out quality salads. Potato salad was bland, dressing choices limited and bland tasting. Seating is quite tight fitting. If it wasn't for the steak I would've rated them a 1. Won't revisit unless I really crave some serious steak.
Grace N Latoa
Steaks are amazing - Chef clearly knows what he is doing with the meat!! I had a huge scotch fillet & my husband had a huge rump steak!! I struggled to finish mine..Salad bar was average - we were there for the meat.

A great experience being able to choose our own steak! There was different cuts of steak up front and you're able to select whichever one you want. Not sure what the cow picture on the table is for though, as they didn't have all the different cuts available there...<br/><br/>They're really friendly and would let you take photos holding/cooking the steak if you ask :)<br/><br/>Our steaks were done medium rare and they turned out very juicy and tender. The buffet style side salads weren't as great though. For the price of the steak, it was very well worth it! <br/><br/>Would not mind returning again.

Angus Steakhouse has been around for a long time now and it's no surprise - the steaks are HUGE and always cooked exactly how you want it.  You get to choose your own steak/meat which is a bonus if you like to choose how big and how marbled you want it to be.<br/>The $40 includes the salad bar which is not great - the salads are nothing special and mostly just consist of some chopped up or tinned vegetables.<br/>This is a great place to go if you are only interested in steak (and not vegetables) and it's also perfect if you are a carnivore with a huge appetite!  If you're after a nice, busy atmosphere and perfectly cooked meat, definitely check this place out.
Merv Chiles
Angus Steakhouse is still as good as i remembered and now have introduced 9 more friends to the best little steakhouse that serves the biggest and juiciest steaks around! 9/10 thanks team Angus!<br/>
Steve
Back again and it was as good as ever. Friendly staff who actually wanted to make us smile, t bone steak for me tonight, perfectly cooked which was the case for everyone else at our table as well. All you can eat salad bar went down well for the newbies. Tasty and fresh. Price good value if you consume enough :)
Peter Mathis
Booking in advance an advantage!! Otherwise you may have to wait for a free table a long time.<br/><br/>But this time we got a reservation an we got welcomed by friendly staff  showing us our table upstairs.<br/><br/>After ordering some drinks we went to choose a piece of meet ot of a big various supply. I choose a eye fillet, told them I like it medium.  <br/><br/>Than my big misstake again, started at the salad bar (as much as you like) and startet eating. Cause even the salads were nice I almost ate to mucht till I got my nice medium done fillet. Was struggling to finish it.<br/><br/>Warning! Don't eat to much salade before you get your meat. The portion is huge!<br/><br/>So my conclusion, Angus Steak House is a must for meat lovers!
Cynthia Vanisha Paul
I don't think one needs to say much about Angus. If you're craving for a huge plate of meat, Angus is your answer. Oh no, you're into salads only, Angus is your answer.<br/>From choosing your own meat to a free flow of salads, Angus satisfies the hunger lot instantly!
Nikki Rowan
Amazing steaks. Really enjoyed it
Dawn Norris
The best steak in Auckland!!! Fantastic choice and selections of salads..and so fresh as it cooked there and then to your liking......was totally impressed..would highly recommend this place to anyone ...
Gordon Ramsbottom
Excellent! but I have to use more words so...<br/>It does what it says on the box, the biggest and best steaks in Auckland.<br/>Bloody well right they are. It's great how you can select whichever cut you take a fancy to and then take it up to the chef.<br/>The steak I got was so thick and big it was a challenge.<br/>I don't know why people complain that the service is not the best it was fine.<br/>The only thing I could say in the negative was that it was busy and noisy, so it's probably not somewhere to go for a romantic dinner.<br/>But I went there because I was hungry. Usually I don't care about the decor, it's hard enough to find a decent feed, let alone worrying about the decor.<br/>I got a generous sized steak for a great price.<br/>Screw Flanders.
R & A
Impressive steaks! Good cuts of beef cooked right!<br/><br/>Though for $38 chips should be included.
Bethany
Best steak in Auckland!! <br/><br/>My partner and I go just about every three months and it really is the best steak in Auckland. The steaks are massive - we love that you get to choose them yourself - and the salad bar is great. <br/><br/>The sides are pretty good, just your regular chips, wedges etc. They accompany the steak well. <br/><br/>Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the service could be a little better, they seem a bit rushed, but in saying that every time we are in they are absolutely packed, so fair enough really.
Stormy
Have been there 3 times and I love their steak!!! Just came back from there tonight and I am still salivating thinking of their steaks...They are HUGE!! and always cooked to perfection. Only suggestion I could make is that maybe the staff could smile a bit more, otherwise go there!!! :)
Alli
Pretty good - we'd go there again, large large steaks and friendly and informative staff.
Jessi Mitchelson
We went there early June, the place was bustling for a Wednesday night. Service was average. The only thing really going for this place is the steaks, they are amazing! I had the scotch fillet and my partner had the sirloin. They are huge, cooked perfectly and I had to take mine home in the end. The salad bar does let the place down, but the sides are yummy.
Wayne Davidson
Best steakhouse, I wish I could tell you that its true.<br/>The food was, but the service is a different story.<br/><br/>Booked in for 6, arrived at 6, 10 minutes later taken to seats, told we would be looked after by a waitress, 15 minutes later after my suggestion about going to another place my girlfriend waved down a waitress, then we were told we have to go to the meat section, select the meat etc. Would have been great to be told this when we were seated. We had never been there before. Not a problem at all, if we had been told.<br/><br/>I'm guessing from the fact that I ordered 1 water &amp; 2 beers, &amp; received 2 waters &amp; 1 beer, that we were NOT in for the best eating experience in Auckland, I was correct.<br/><br/>Warm mushrooms arrived 1st, followed later by steak and my entree, my onions arrived the same time as her chips, after a while my chips had not arrived, so we asked for my chips which arrived soon afterwards.<br/><br/>NO complaints about the food whatsoever, very nice, just a real shame the kitchen got bent over &amp; reamed by the service staff.<br/><br/>I paid our bill and we left, hoping NOT to be left down again, we were but that's another review.
Crystal Johnson
BEST Steakhouse! True story!<br/>I love how you get to choose your own cut of meat and you take it up to the chef and he cooks it to utter perfection for you. I am really fussy when it comes to steak so when you get to choose your own cut of eye fillet it rocks my world. Have been here a few times with friends and the boyfriend and ive got NOTHING bad to say about this place. Service has always been great for us... YUM
Kevin Tautau
Been visiting Angus Steak for the last 5 years, from the first time I visited the food, the service, and the wonderful host Lilly who just makes you feel welcome every time, I've bought different people back at different times and they just love it, seriously their steaks are the best.
Emily Papera
6 years ago was the first time my partner and I had been to Angus and just recently 6 years later I took him their for Fathers day and he absolutely loved it.<br/><br/>Food : Steak was absolutely perfect<br/><br/>Service: That was the only down side the lady who served us wasn;t really paying attention to us and was talking to other waiters at the same time.
Aidan M
Had a terrible experience here. We walked in just after 8 and instead of greeting us, the waitress looked mad we walked in so "late".<br/><br/>After seeing the size of the steak, girls decided to share one between two, only to be told "You can't share your main. If I catch you sharing we'll charge you another $38". We ended up ordering 3 mains but only finished 1, what a waste.<br/><br/>The chef was friendly but the rest of the staff were just rude. <br/>This place has the worst hospitality in Auckland, you'll get better service at McDonalds.
Phi Turner
We were looking for a restaurant that was fun dining (as opposed to fine dining) and stumbled upon the Angus Steak House in fort lane. Congratulations to the people who work there as the steak was better than any I've tried before and we are big steak eaters. I'd skip lunch before going thou as the steaks were big ! I chose the T bone which was out of this world cooked in front of us and served on a sizzling plate. Salad is complimentary. I also ordered delicious fries on the side. Well done !
Mauricio Viniegra
Excellent !! if you are looking for great and spectacular steak, this is the place.
Cain Anderson
Went to Angus steak house for the first time. Was very pleased with the meat selection and was cooked to perfection. Salad bar was basic but tasty. Unsure if the waitress understood kiwi accent but tried hard. Be prepared for a huge meal @ $37 with salad bar included. <br/><br/>Freezing cold inside restaurant but was a cold evening.
Kate Meldrum
Food was delicious, loved my steak never had better.<br/>But I have been there twice now with a large group (10-15) and the staff have trouble remembering what extras we have ordered.<br/>We had to re order our side of mushrooms twice for one persons steak and the time before that half the people that ordered fries ended up with wedges.<br/>But staff aside the food is devine, the juiciest, perfectley cooked steak I have ever experience in New Zealand :-D
Casey
The best steak in the world!<br/><br/>This could be overstated by some who read this? But I have honestly never tasted anything so good!<br/><br/>Service was excellent. Didn't book, but this was no issue for them, where they kindly asked if we could wait 10-15mins and seat the 7 of us. They quickly rushed back 5 mins later with our table ready, set and menus handed to us.<br/><br/>Asked how our meals were throughout the meal. Asked if we wanted anything, assisted us quickly for all of our requests.<br/><br/>Escorted us down to pay and waved goodbye. We were all so happy we gave high fives to our steak master chef. A fun night and very reasonable. <br/><br/>They were aware we had to rush to a concert and made it a priority to get our food out fast. Rang for our taxi, and off we went to our concert full and satisfied.<br/><br/>I will definatley be going back to share this awesome steak with more of my friends.
Ashley
Nice eye fillet steak! side dishes were so so.
Paul
Interesting concept; select your own steak from a variety of cuts and have the cook prepare it for you. Side orders include fries, mushrooms, onions etc. Salad bar is included. <br/><br/>Good for when you're hungry and when you like big pieces of meat. This place is packed every evening!
Karin Le Roux
The best steak I have ever had. We went there last week. You go and pick your own steak, large variety, scotch fillet, eye fillet, T-bone, rump, venison, lamb rack, very delicious. Not good if you only like chicken or if you are vegetarian :)The best eye-fillet, very large and good quality cuts!
Erin O'Meara
Great idea, all you can eat salad bar, and you choose which steak you would like from an ice bar and take it up to the chef to be cooked just the way you like it, will eat here again for sure!
YellowBlankets
Angus is a place I go to when I feel carnivorous and ready to pig out. It's not exactly cheap, but it's pretty much the amount of money you'll have to spend anyway to have decent steak in town (even some less decent ones charge the same). I also like that it has really fun ambience, generous with portions and hip/trendy! You get caught by smelling seared meats from outside of the restaurant, really.<br/><br/>You get to choose your own meat they display by the chilled section, any cuts you wish, and they're huge pieces of meats--the chef will then cook it to your liking with optional delicious garlic and pepper sauce if you like. I like that the salad bar is buffet style--they have quite an array of choices there. You can also get sides such as fries or onion rings for $7-8, that I think is reasonably priced in a steakhouse.<br/><br/>Overall I always enjoy dining here. It can be a bit loud and busy in the weekends so make sure you book or come in early! I like that their service is quick and efficient though, their wait staff is very attentive and helpful, especially if you're a new customer.

Went in on a busy night after walking past the unmissable smell of steak. <br/>We did have to wait for a table to be cleared but it didn't take too long.<br/>Staff were friendly and guided us to our first time at Angus. You get to choose what piece of meat and how you would like it to be done, as you wait you're shown towards the salad bar.<br/>At the end of the night the meal was far from disappointing. A great example of a good quality steakhouse

This is a great place to go to if you want a really good steak and value for money at the same time. The place was packed for a Tuesday night and catered to all ages. Wait staff was attentive and explained how it works. You choose your steak (I think all are $38) and the chef cooks it to your liking. I had a eye fillet and it was the best steak I've had in a long, long time. Thick, tender, melt in your mouth - yum! I also love that the salad bar was all you can eat with a good variety of salads from beans, rice, cous-cous, varying vegetables, pasta, potato - all which you top with your choice of sauces. Came out feeling full and very, very contented. Will definitely go back again next time I'm craving for some meat.
