Having just moved into the area, we're working our way though all the local eats. Heard from a few people that Moxie was a spot to try out. Went there on a Friday night and despite the full house, the service and food was fantastic. Notable items were the fried rice and the roasted carrots. Cocktails were creative and executed perfectly. Great neighbourhood spot.

Absolutely loved my time here. Everything was delicious, staff were super attentive, friendly and you could tell enjoyed their jobs. That was my first time ever trying beef Wellington and it was delicious! As was the cauliflower and wallaby toast. Thanks for a great night!

👏 EXTRAORDINARY🎊 Attended a private work function here with a fixed menu. The physical environment was a visual feast for my eyes as the food was for my palette. Moxie is one of our favourite restaurants! So many restaurants seem to have almost the same menu and decor these days 🥱 - but Moxie never fails to disappoint! Delicious, mouth-watering dishes… with flavours from around the world! Their food is outstanding! Every dish we have ever had has been amazing. The decor gives off gorgeous, summery, Beverly Hills vibes and the service is, without fail, friendly and attentive. We are more than happy to travel from the other side of Auckland (Howick) for such a great experience. All I can say is if you haven’t been go! And, if you have been…well I know you’ll be going again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have been to Moxie countless, countless times and never had a bad experience! Service is top notch, all the waitresses are so friendly. The menu is always changing up and keeping things fresh. It’s actually quite a romantic vibe as well so great for dates. If I’m looking for a nice dining experience and can’t be bothered going to the CBD, Moxie is my first choice and should be yours to.

Hi James & Amy, I was the Dj at Phil & Cheries wedding last Saturday night. I'd just like to say thank you for everything - the fact that you allowed us early access to set up was appreciated, the staff are friendly and amazing and really helpful, and the food was beyond amazing! I've eaten food from all over the world, but that chicken was the best I've ever eaten. The flavours were mindblowing, the presentation was on point and the service during dinner was beyond par. Moxie Restaurant is such a cool venue - nice and cosy, well laid out and you were both extremely welcoming. Out of all the weddings I've ever done, Moxie has to be one of the best venues I've ever played in! Once again, thank you for being so accommodating and I'd have no hesitation in playing there again. Thoroughly recommend the food, and the experience as a whole. Thanks guys!

I honestly cant recommend the High Tea highly enough. Being from the UK and being a huge fan of high tea i'm a tough customer to please but Moxie it was perfect! Not only was the food and tea really delicious, super fresh and tasty but the whole dining experience was exceptional. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, attentive to whatever we needed and really made us all feel part of the family! The deco is beautiful and with all the little touches to make the whole experience fabulous. It was my first High Tea in NZ but it defiantly wont be my last at Moxie. Thank you!

Best restaurant experience. The waiter was very explanatory of the menu, the chef's were really sweet, great interaction with the customers, and we got to meet and say hi to them. The food looked stunning, and packed full of flavour. I went with my mum and my sister and we had an absolute blast, from entree to desert. Would highly recommend taking your friends and family here

I booked High Tea for my 82 yr old Mum and me. What an incredible experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and has an amazing atmosphere. I couldn't fault anything 100/100. The food is lovely and as for the ladies that run Moxie, they make your experience very personal. My Mum is on a walker and they treated her with kindness and respect and also have a ramp outside which is great. I can't recommend Moxie High Tea experience High enough. If you haven't been or have been thinking about going just do it. You won't be disappointed 💖

One of my favourite fine dining restaurants. The starters, mains and desserts were all excellent, but especially the ox-tail starter and pineapple pound cake dessert with coconut sorbet. Service and decor were also good. Would go back again for a special occasion.

We had a wonderful night, the food was absolutely amazing and the side dishes went so well with the Beef Wellington we had preordered. We had a beetroot dish with goat cheese and cauliflower with a potato and truffle foam along with some fries. We started with the sticky pork in a bun and finished with an apple and rhubarb dessert. Everything was just perfect. T he waitress was obviously busy but drinks were attended to, including water for the table. Just one small niggle, the sides didn't come out immediately with the mains, I dislike seeing the mains cooling down while you wait and wait for the sides. Would highly recommend.

What an incredible place for an early dinner. Everything cooked by the chef including handmade pizza. The cocktails are lovely! They included a delicious Coconut Panacotta for my sister’s birthday as a sweet surprise ☺️💓 the food was impeccable & the service was just perfect. A must visit!

Have visited Moxie a few times now and it never disappoints. The food is consistently good. Amazing flavour combinations and the menu changes regularly so there is always something new to try. We went to wings night on Thursday and I loved the different flavour chicken wings- super tasty! And the ribs were melt in the mouth delicious! Service top notch too. We will be back again very soon!!

I have had the pleasure of dining here a few times now. The food is right up my alley, Thursday is wings night and they are truly delicious, spicy, sweet, sour you name it. They change the menu regularly and serve them up with the best beer selection. The Moxie milk buns are a must!

On Saturday we had our engagement party here and it was amazing. The customer service and help leading up to the event was phenomenal and the food and staff on the night were incredible. Visited on Friday for our wedding anniversary, our first time coming here. Pleasantly surprised with a complimentary glass of bubbles each on arrival. Service was great - friendly, prompt and efficient. The food was wonderful - shared the Milk buns with sticky pork to start - absolutely delicious. Our mains were the Turkey breast and the market fish (Hapuka) - again absolutely delicious. Fished off with the chocolate fondant and orange brulee. Wonderful way to end. Would recommend Moxie to anyone wanting a good night out with great food. We will be back.

Finally a fantastic restaurant in Birkenhead! The service was great, the food was amazing, the atmosphere incredible. Me and my girlfriend came to moxie for a date night out, and we were blown away - we started with drinks in their bar area, I had a president's sour and she had a full metal jacket (delicious). We were then sat at a table when we were ready to have a fantastic meal that appealed to my vegan girlfriend (so difficult to find), I had the milk buns and the daube of beef followed by an amazing chocolate fondant - and the chef was kind enough to create dishes for my partner off the menu, to her liking. Will definitely be back again, we need more places like this!

A great evening! We were very impressed with the service we received. I didn't enjoy my entree (betroots and walnuts), but I ordered the pork at the waiters suggestion and wasn't disappointed. Flavours were amazing but my pork was a tad dry. Chocolate fondant was hands down one of the best desserts ever. And I loved that they arranged a GF version for me. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

We had great expectations from Moxie who replaced our favourite restaurant 8.2. We liked what they had done with the place and staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Unfortunately food was a bit so-so. We had the scotch filet poutine with oxtail sauce and although each element was delicious on its own. Together it was too rich and with no veggies on the side to lift up (we did not see veggies as a side order on the menu so could not make an additional order). For desert I had the banana parfait with ginger nut and raspberry sorbet and that in contrast was delish. My husband unfortunately chose the blue cheese beignets with truffle ice cream which was again too rich after an already rich main course...although different and unique it missed something to balance it out. Based on the atmosphere and the one gorgeous desert we will give Moxie another shot but we had hoped that it could replace 8.2 and they are not quite there yet!

Make the effort to dine at Moxie. My wife and I dined there on Saturday night and it was a pleasure. Superb food, friendly, attentive, non intrusive service and lovely fresh, simple decor all made for a great evening. Menu is nice and short (i love that i don't have to scroll through 3 pages to choose a meal) and beer & wine options are not run of the mill. If you live in Birkenhead, or nearby, you have a smashing local restaurant, we traipsed from Huapai and will definitely be back. Pop in for a drink and sample the bar menu or book yourself in for a great evening meal.

This place really lives up to the reviews published. Fantastic atmosphere in this gorgeous funky villa. I love the pale pink dining tables and comfy white chairs. The waiter was super nice and food creatively plated out. I really enjoyed my chicken main and choice of craft beer on a hut balmy night. Friends had tuna entree and tasty beef. Portions are on the smaller, fine dining side. I'd definitely come back here again.

One of the best Lamb dishes I've ever had! Cooked to perfection [medium rare] juicy, hot - everything was right about it! The Sliders were a great start to the night - very tender and good to share. Steak was good, salmon dish could be improved. Friendly staff, pretty decor, delicious food. 😋

Moxie is a lovely set up for a quite drink with friends or the works, dinner and drinks. The milk buns with sticky pork was my favourite for the starter. You can have your own starter or share a few. The buns had a massive flavour burst. I had the lamb for my main and it was cooked to perfection and super tender. Lots of yummy flavours on the plate. Dessert was an absolute treat and big portions too.

This is the new hot spot on the shore. If only people knew it wasn't old 8.2 anymore. New Chef Owners and a complete facelift, this establishment offers a relaxed, warm, friendly environment, GREAT food and a mixture of fine wines and local craft beers. Their Moxie milk buns, wagyu tartare, Mac'n'cheese are all mouth watering starters, the mains are cooked to perfection and the deserts will blow your mind. Then you get to the service and your left smiling because the team are just attentive & awesome. I'll be back for sure to try the new menu. :)
