Review The Good Luck Coconut - Auckland Central

Matt Saggers
Booked here about 2 months ago for NYE 2022. So glad we did; Peter, Jade and the team were awesome. They looked after our family so well, great table, attentive service and we felt so welcome. The food was tasty and the drinks free flowing home-created cocktails. A quick walk along the wharf and we were in the thick of the NYE fireworks! Thanks Peter and Jade for also doing the Zoolander ‘Blue Steel’ look 🤣

Went for a 40th and OMG the food was divine!!! Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful staff. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Service was great. Really nice spot looking out over the harbour. Ordered the pork belly. Food was enjoyable but for the price you pay in comparison to portion size and ratio between meat and salad was a bit underwhelming. Was more like a pork belly salad.

We ate as a group and shared. The food was outstandingly fresh and tasteful with an island flare. Standout were the tiger prawns, dumplings and chicken salad. Staff were attentive and friendly. Recommend to anyone who enjoys good fresh food.

Great place to hang out. The ambience and arrangement of the club accentuated its tropical vibe. Being situated across the waterfront too made it unique. Good service, friendly staff.

Very cool decor throughout. Staff were friendly and service was okay. A lot of the cocktails were described by the waitress as “sweet” I had the “only fans” and was sweet but delicious! They made a house mixed drink as requested by us also. The food was hit and miss the $30 pork belly main was a big miss was cured like ham which tasted weird and drowning in sweet sauce. The best part was the crackling garnish used. The dumplings were a winner and a must-try! We got both flavours and were not disappointed with those. The char-grilled prawns were also one of my faves! 🤩

Great vibe, AWESOME coctails and very good food! We had the tempura fish and chips, the rum glased pork belly with pineapple and green chilli salsa and ember roasted tiger prawns. The presentation of all the dishes were immaculate. It would have been great to get a bigger menu with more choices but it is not always possible with staff shortages in the industry. The ember roasted tiger prawns were perfectly cooked and fresh. The fish and chips was a bit disappointing but still good, just tasted a too much batter and too little seasoning. The winner of the day was the perfectly cooked pork belly and the amazing salsa that came with it. I will go back any time for the vibe and the expertly made cocktails. The food was well price and enjoyed it immensely! I highly recommend The good luck coconut for a great night out with friends!

We met some friends here for lunch and had a great table outside with a view of the harbor. The service was prompt and friendly. They had plenty of beers and wines to choose from and the lunch menu had options for the meat eaters and the vegetarians in our group. I had the fish sandwich with shoestring fries, and it was moist and delicious. My friend had their fish and chips, which was larger than most lunch portions that I have seen! My wife had the Good Luck salad with salmon, and she enjoyed it very much. Overall, good ambiance, great food, good service, great location near downtown and on the water, and a really good dining experience. We will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to our friends!

Great night out at this fine establishment! Booked with first table and what a great idea. Got to the restaurant on time. Maître D was warm and friendly. Atmosphere was lovely. Enjoyed the decor. Great service. Food appeared quickly. Cocktails are amazing. We had Zombies and boy were they so tasty! Also by the time I went to drink mine the alcohol that was on fire was all gone and the lovely waitress gave me so more to add. Highly recommend the fish entree and prawns. Definitely going again and if you add in first table dining here is a must.

Great location. Beautiful view from the outdoor area which faces the harbour. Nice and cozy indoor area. Staff is efficient and very friendly. Menu doesn't have many choices. You can choose between small portions from $15 to $22 or big portions from $20 to $30. Small portions is quite small. Nothing special about flavors.

Not enough stars to say indicate how good the staff were throughout the week and evening. Great food, vibe, atmosphere, cocktails, and manager on the floor were amazing. We booked for 18 and each person was very happy with their meals etc. Thank you team!

Lovely food and great service! Our waiter was so lovely and I have to say it was the best service I have received from a restaurant in a long time. The food was great. Went there for the first time and had their August restaurant month special. We got the dumplings, karaage chicken, sliders and dessert to share. The soft shell crab slider was delicious and the chocolate custard for dessert was amazing. Rich but not too sweet.

We've been here 4-6 times. I remember how impressed we were the first time with the cocktails, for some reason it wasn't the same experience this time. Food is yummy as always however pork ribs had very little pork on it, the list dish we enjoyed. Ika mata is the best one always, then chicken karaage, dumplings and prawns. The service is great!

For our latest girls catch up lunch, we tried the menu at The Good Luck Coconut in Wynyard Quarter. The restaurant bar is beautifully presented as a tiki bar with pacific rim inspiration. The flow of the place is impressive from indoor to outdoor focused around the bar. Staff is very warm and inviting and the ambiance is bustling, varied with all sorts of patrons and very relaxed. We immediately ordered some beverages including cocktails Blessed Shores, Missionary’s Downfall, Fantasy Island and a mocktail, Virgin Pineapple & Cardamon Cooler, and the drinks were amazing! It was amusing how quickly and easily drink orders were decided upon and delivered whereas food required more deliberation amongst the incessant yet highly anticipated catch up chatter. To eat we ordered Sweet Potato Bread, Ika Mata, Crispy Chicken Karage, Wild Caught Tiger Prawns, High Tide and Savoury Coconut Rice. My favorite dishes were the raw fish which was beautifully creamy highlighting the delicate flesh with a hint of lime and the sweet potato bread as it was fluffy and unctuous with gorgeous toasted coconut butter! There seemed to be nothing wild about the prawns and name of the dish preceded the appeal and the chicken was average. Following on, we settled on the chocolate custard dessert with coffee and it was simply exquisite in depth of flavour of Koko Samoa with mango sorbet and texture with biscuit crumb. Overall, our lunching experience was wonderful, service was highly attentive with exceptional beverages and very good Pan Asian food. The place lends favourably to catch ups as you could easily sit, eat, drink and talk the afternoon away. The sharing nature of the dishes is good as you can try various items. Highly recommended and worth a try!

Excellent location on the Auckland Harbour. The staff are really friendly and the decor is a lot of fun. Ordered a few of the smaller menu items and they were excellent. Highly recommend the poke if you’re not super hungry, it was delicious. Also, hands down the best mojito I’ve had in NZ (and trust me, I’ve had a lot!)
Cellie
Great friendly service, food and cocktails were delish and presented well! Nice location looking out over the water and the atmosphere is pretty chilled and relaxed. Favs of the night were the prawns, beans, and the banana loaf dessert. You can clearly see the attention to detail in presentation and flavor which made each dish really interesting. We tried about 5 starters, had 2 larger meals and cocktails. Definitely over ordered for 2 people but we were really pleased with everything. The shitake mushroom dumplings were tasty, and good value for money. I thought that the beef tataki (an addiction of mine) would have been really good had it been sliced a little thinner and the ceviche could have had a little less coconut milk so that the fish shone through even more... but these were just my personal thoughts and both were already so so good as they were. Thanks team!!

Had dinner here on 8/01/22 with my friend. We received great service and yummy food. I especially loved the Mushroom dumplings and enjoyed my Below Deck cocktail. Place also has good vibes with fun catchy music playing 😁❤

Nice place, perfect location, charming staff and delicious food! What else you need? We ate some plates to share and a couple of beers, but they have a long list of cocktails!
Rob and Yvonne Pilkington
Best cocktails and small plates to share is the best highlight of our dinner. Interesting to see that the online menu is different from the menu in the restaurant. Which was a bit of a let down. 🤔
Samantha Kirkwood
Can’t fault anything about our experience here. A group of 10, and we all loved the cocktails, the food was beyond delicious, the service was fantastic. Totally top notch evening had. Totally recommend.
Top tip: HAVE that sweet potato bread, outstanding!
Cat
We ordered a couple of dishes to try... tempura fish & chips and dumplings. The fish & chips were pretty good but the dumplings were tasteless. Nice surroundings. Food was served in good time but plates remained on the table and no one came to take another drinks order, we had to approach the front desk to order ourselves. Considering we were 1 of 3 tables occupied, it was not the best experience.
FoodiesTable
We had the steak (pic 4) which was slightly disappointing😞, the steak was very chewy, and carrots was very raw & crunchy which is odd as it looked like it was cooked properly. We also had the beef burger🍔 which was absolutely beautiful! One of the best burgers we have ever had. Beef patty was juicy and so tasty with the onion rings. We loved their Espresso Martini and Strawberry Mint cocktails 🍸🍹which were super refreshing.⠀

Refreshing flavours of the pacific! Loved the seafood selection and also the bread and ribs! Thought the sizes can be a bit bigger for the price but nevertheless worth a try!
Reema Singh
Tried this place out for my birthday dinner with the family! Loved the drinks and food but be aware the portion sizes are quite small for the price however the atmosphere and plating is amazing! Defo an insta worthy place
JenniferJ
Went there for lunch and got the bento basket: tempura chicken wings, green beans, ika mata (raw fish) and sticky rice. Food was nice but not woaw. The rice was not good - it was old reheated rice and wasn’t cooked through like it should. I had been there before and had recommended it to a few friends, but I was quite disappointed this time around.
Sabrina Hea
Service and atmosphere is lovely and the cocktails were refreshing. However I found the food to be quite overpriced for it’s portion sizes and the taste was only a little over average.
Hungry D
Had fish n chips- pretty decent. Wife had chicken yakitori salad which was very good. Washed down with strawberry mojito and a whiskey cocktail. Nice chilled out vibe with music to relax and watch the sun go down over the water....

The staff is polite and friendly but not professional. We waited 40 mins for our food and not once were we informed of the wait. We had one round of drinks that was cleared when finished but we weren't offered another round. We had to walk up to the bar ourselves if we needed anything.
When the food finally came, the quality was good but the portions were so small ( for such high prices), we left still hungry after a $90 bill for two people. Ended up eating elsewhere again later on.
Not sure it's worth coming back for us...
Julia Louise
Great food and cocktails and fun decor. Loved that there are so many options for gluten free/dairy free that are clearly marked on the menu. The chicken karaage is awesome!! Easily the best place in Wynyard Quarter for dinner and drinks ❤️

Have been wanting to try this place for ages. Finally went along with a group of friends. The food was faultless other than the dumplings being a little bland.

We had the following:
- sweet potato bread: 5/5
- ika mata: 5/5 (wish there was more of it for $20)
- soft shell crab sliders: (5/5)
- Hulihuli chicken (4/5)
- beef yakitori sticks

+ x2 cocktails - our bill came too almost $200 which we left and had a second dinner elsewhere as most of the portion sizes are entree sizes.

The atmosphere is nice and very staff are very attentive and friendly.

Price vs portion sizes are really the only downfall.

But I suppose your paying for the location.
Vegesaur
An okay menu, but nowhere near enough veggie options. Portions were a little on the small side too. I had a couple of side dishes and some fries. Not bad, but could be way better. Very bland. My friend ordered the sliders and prawns, and her portions were also small. The drinks menu looked good, however quite expensive. Have tried this place twice now, and both times it was very underwhelming. I won't be back.

Came here for the $25 menu and honestly food was okay, I expected better but they didn't meet/just met what I would have expected. The banana bread dessert was probably my favourite dish out of 4 that I tried. The potsticker dumpling, soft shell crab sliders and chocolate mousse were all very mediocre and I've had better elsewhere. A little bit awkward because we did not get cutlery until I asked for it even after our mains were served and some time had passed..... On the bright side vibe of the place was really nice and I loved that

Had my friends birthday dinner here last week
We had a big booking
Food was ok !! Ika raw fish was 10/10
We ordered both platters which I don’t think was worth the price very small portions, skewers were ok not sure on the wild tiger prawns? They just looked and tasted like the cheap prawns at the supermarket , soft shell crab sliders yum , ribs were ok nice Smokey taste, karagae chicken was 10/10
My daughter had the fish & chips she was happy , I had the banana bread for dessert way to sweet needed something to cut the sweetness it tasted good tho!! And the summer ice cream is not worth $12 for 3 little spoonfuls of ice cream my daughter wasn’t happy at all!! Ice cream tasted off but she did enjoy the sorbet!!
Place has a cool vibe , staff friendly and helpful
wont be in a rush to return any time soon thanks..
We came here for the $25 two course meal for Amex Restaurant Month. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the selection as there were only five savoury items (all from their starters/entrees) and two desserts. They were all split into three categories and you weren’t allowed to choose two from the same category. We were also told the the portion sizes for this deal would be smaller than usual.

Between the two of us, we went for the Ika Mata, Beef Bulgogi Tataki, Pot Sticker Dumplings, and Softshell Crab Sliders.

I enjoyed the fish and the dumplings, however the other two dishes were a bit of a let down. The flavour of the tataki was nice but the cuts were quite thick and difficult to chew, I ended up having to spit a few pieces out. The softshell crab was the dish I was looking forward to the most as it is usually very light and crispy, unfortunately I felt like this one was drenched in oil which made the small slider quite heavy and not very pleasant.

Service was very friendly and attentive, very nice environment to dine in with beautiful lights hanging from the ceiling and bright neon lights on the walls.

Lovely vibes in Wynyard quarter near the viaduct. Great service too and the seats are nice. The chicken yakitori salads were delicious. I like fusion food so this was refreshing.
Chan Can Eat
I hadn’t heard anything about this restaurant, but purchased a early dinner 50% off coupon and decided to head along.
I was really really surprised! The Hawaiian/island/Asian fusion works quite well and provides a point of difference from the stock standard Asian fusion joints.
Their kumara bread is to die for! We got seconds of those! And everything else, including dessert (which I normally wouldn’t get) was delicious!
I’d come back and pay full price any day!
Oh I forgot the lamb ribs - don’t forget to order some of those too, they’re out of this world good
Karina
Came here with the family for dinner recently and this is the only restaurant on the Viaduct that I actually like! All the other restaurants are low quality and boring and going here was so refreshing! The only one actually worth going too to be honest. Started off with the pineapple + cardamom cooler and it was so nice and refreshing, I ended up ordering another one! My brother got the salted grapefruit and sage quencher which I tried and didn't like as it was a bit sour and salty but just not my cup of tea. To eat we got the high tide feasting plate, the chicken yakitori and we got another order of chicken kaarage to share. I loved the chicken karaage, so glad we got another order it was the perfect size and was cooked so well. I also tried the pot sticker dumplings and they were really good aswell. The actual restaurant is decorated amazingly. Definielty recommend!!

The food was alright. We ordered quite a bit as servings are quite small. The ribs are nice and soft. The soft shell crab is delicious. The mocktails are yummy. We used first table so it was ok. Otherwise I don't think to will be worth the full price as portion is quite small..only got one chicken skewer for kids meal. Corned beef burger wasn't very good. And the coconut parfait was average too.

Situated in Wynyard Quarter, the place has a nice vibe to it, with lots of potential, music was definitely too loud, I couldn’t even hear the person sitting next to me. Definitely left feeling a little disappointed in all honesty.

Firstly service was a little lacking, we noticed that other tables seemed to have happier waiters, but they seemed to ignore us - didn’t really ask us how the food was, would just put the plates of food down say what it was and leave. (Not to mention also forget items off of our ordered dishes).

Secondly, the food was coming out at such a slow pace, we sat there for 20 minutes after finishing our entrees before we received half of our mains.

Thirdly, the food didn’t really seem to be Pacific Asian fusion, some of the dishes felt like regular food with one fusion ingredient i.e karaage chicken (which typically is in larger pieces) we were served popcorn chicken with sriracha mayo.
I did however enjoy the Beef Bulgogi Tataki - it felt like a creative way of combining two different dishes and was executed well. I also thoroughly liked the Ika mata was delicious - wished we had ordered more of this! Also loved their pineapple mock tail, the cardamom is a very unique flavour and tasted delicious.

Overall thought it was a nice place to come for drinks with a little bite to eat on the side, not sure if it was worth the long wait, might come back another time and see if its improved.

Food: 3/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 2/5

Came on a Friday evening for dinner. Great fit out, cool lamp shades and nice seating. The music playing was too loud and not really suitable for dining, more drinking/bar music. I had the yakitori tofu salad, the slaw was great, loved the dressing. Didn’t like the tofu though, it had a smokey taste and would have been much better served with a sauce, like satay. Wouldn’t choose this place if your after a relaxed dining experience but if you’re out for a drink down Wynyard Quarter then worth checking out.

The vibe of the space was really cool! It made me feel like I was on a beach somewhere. The high tide platter was amazing with a great selection of different flavours and textures. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

Good luck coconut is situated right on the north wharf pier. Went for six of the small plates to share between two. The ika mata and beef bulgogi are awesome looking dishes with the flavour to boot. Ribs were excellent. Dumpling and karaage so so. Actually has a decent beer list and wine list as well as cocktails. Service was good on an empty night. Venue would be stunning at dusk in summer.

We booked the Good Luck Coconut with first table for 5.30pm on a Sunday. The restaurant has a beautiful island themed interior and comfortable seating inside and outside.

We ordered the sweet potato bread, pacific pickles, beef bulgogi tataki and the Luau love feasting plate (made up of the wild caught tiger prawns, ika mata, smoked pork ribs, huli huli chicken thigh yakitori) to share between two people.

The food was served promptly and presented well, here’s a break down of each dish:

Sweet potato bread - a nice warm bun with coconut butter to start off the meal! |$5 for two small buns

Pacific pickles - a nice entree if you like pickles (which I love) but nothing too special | $6 for a palm sized plate

Beef bulgogi tataki - thick cuts of rare beef with an interesting black sesame sauce, this was tasty and we enjoyed this dish the most ! | $22 for 6 slices of beef

Wild caught tiger prawns - we enjoyed these and they were seasoned adequately. But since they were from the “firepit” we would have expected a more smokey taste | $21.5 for 5 prawns

Ika mata - we felt that this dish lacked some acidity and the marinade was mostly tasting of coconut cream, overall the balance was abit off | $20 for a small portion

Smoked pork ribs - these were tasty, flavoursome and slightly spicy. The meat however wasn’t falling off the bone and could have been more tender | $17 for 4 ribs

Chicken thigh yakitori skewers - these were alright, but I would consider $16.50 a but hefty for three small skewers. The ones at the night market taste better ! Like the tiger prawns, these did not have a smokey taste | $16.5 for 3 skewers

Overall I would rate this restaurant 6.5/10, the ambience, decor and service was excellent however I just feel that the dishes were lacking a wow factor and did not bring any new flavours to the table for the price they are charging. As a new restaurant I expect they are still ironing a few things out so I would consider giving them another visit in the future.

The food costed $92, so it was $46 with first table.

Operated by the same owners as One Tree Grill, the Good Luck Coconut was definitely not a disappointment. The massive restaurant is divided into a bar and dining area. Super friendly staff. Exquisite decor bringing a pacific vibe to the restaurant.

Food are exceptionally good. Especially the entrees, which were well presented and great mix of flavours. Food were also quick to serve.

Would definitely revisit!

Food: 8/10
Food presentation: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Location: 10/10
Ambience: 10/10
Price $70 per person (excl alcohol)

We booked lunch at The Good Luck Coconut on a Saturday and the restaurant was relatively empty but felt warming at the same time. The interior is beautifully decorated and themed, all complete with a tiki hut bar.

We ordered a couple of their cocktails to start and the waiter was very friendly.

One of my friends has been away from New Zealand for a while, and she loved the poke and fries in particular.

The beef was also perfectly cooked/seasoned while the chicken karaage was another crowd pleaser.

The prawns looked the nicest and best presentation however could have more flavour. We really enjoyed our experience and will be coming back!

Good Luck Coconut is the perfect place for a Hawaiian theme party - just like the one we had. I've organised an event for 40 people and wanted a restaurant to cater to our group, without having all of them to just sit and chat with the person beside them the whole evening. Thus, Nick (TGLC) suggested a fantastic space with high tables/chairs for the group so they could mingle and eat from any table.

Food was amazing.. great portions and delicious.

Based on experience, when we have any finger food dinner, the guys will still be hungry after dinner.. however, this time at Good Luck Coconut, everyone had a great dinner and enjoyed themselves that evening.

P/S: the only thing to improve on is the Pina Colada. Heard a couple of feedback from our group regarding their welcome drink - 'could have been better'. Other than that, all is well.

Thanks again for hosting us.

Absolutely 5 stars restaurant. Service 5/5, i got my dishes after 7mins after ordered. Staffs are really friendly to us and respect my kids too. Food and drink 5/5 , pretty presentation and nice flavour. Environment 5/5 seaview and modern decorate. Price was good too. Worth it's price.

Best restaurant I’ve been to this year so far.

Friendly staff, delicious food and great drinks. The chef really knows how to make the perfect combination of taste. Absolutely delicious. Awesome place to chill and enjoy some lovely food and hospitality ! Sasha who served us is absolutely a wonderful host and she recommended us the best on the menu . We loved the crab sliders and the ceviche right on top of the list ! The cocktails were lovely and yes we can’t wait to go back

Went here with friends and my 5 year old daughter. Our waiter was great, he was very attentive and friendly. The table ordered steak which was cooked to perfection and delicious, the special of the day which was a chicken salad, this was delicious and portion wise was perfect, the two of us that ordered the salad really liked it. The 5 year old had the chicken skewers and fries with slaw from the kids menu, she really loved this meal and ate everything. The portion for the kids meal was just right as sometimes the portions are far too big for the little humans. Really liked it here and we will definitely be going back to try out the other menu items.

Wanted to love this place however it fell short of expectations. Wonderful service, fabulous fit-out, and great food presentation, however the flavours and combinations were hit and miss. Soft shell crab sliders were delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked but the consensus was the accompanying sauce detracted from rather than enhancing the dish, the chicken thigh (kakitori) was tender and well cooked however featured large pieces of spring onion which weren't enjoyable, and the fish / jackfruit combo was lacklustre - not helped by the sauce which was an unappetising purple. The pot sticker dumplings alas lacked any depth of flavour, and the prawns 'from the fire pit' were beautifully presented however the flavours were too subtle and I couldn't really detect an element of "fire" or char-grill. Regarding cocktails, I guess we were anticipating tiki-style flamboyance, however both our cocktails lacked any such colourful tiki vessel or garnish - maybe only select cocktails on the menu feature such elements. The flavours and structure were OK but we weren't blown away. I'd probably recommend Talulah bar, or the Mai - Thai from Flamingo XX, for a tiki libation. The consensus of the group (four of us) was 3.5.

Great service, staff bright and bubbly and make amazing conversation. All drinks amazing especially non-alcoholic mocktails and cocktails. We ordered all the sides and it was just as filling and satisfying as ordering a main plus the opportunity to try different foods. Great ambiance and scene, alive and bubbly place. Great for meals or just a drink.

I was pleasantly shocked at how busy they were on a Thursday after work! The front area almost looked like there was some event happening!

We had a nice spacious seated area around the back next to their fireplace.
Very relaxing tiki-pacific style interior decor.

From 'RAW' we got Tataki Beef. From 'SMALL' we got Pork Ribs.
From their MAINS we got the Taro Leaf wrapped Chicken Breast and their Steak Fillet.

Food arrived incredibly prompt and beautifully presented!

- The Tataki was incredibly delicious, with punchy smoky flavours and well-seasoned. Thick, generous cuts of rare beef that was super juicy and tender. The charcoal rice crisps on the side was a nice touch! The citrusy jam was the perfect way to balance out the heavy smokiness of the tataki and takes your taste buds to the pacific beach.
- Pork Ribs were nicely smoked, albeit the meat was a bit too hard and was not falling off the bone as I'd hoped for. Makes for a great appetite-opening as it makes you yearn for better food to come!
- Taro Leaf Chicken was well-seasoned and was cooked to perfection; none of that dry hard-to-swallow texture. Mushrooms were creamy and saucy and we mopped this plate clean.
- Ribeye Steak was again top-notch! Thick juicy fillet on beautifully grilled eggplant and vegetables. The sauvignon gastrique sauce is To. Die. For! Intricate blend of earthy flavours and I was mopping this sauce up with anything I could find from other dishes.

Service was amazing from a lean tanned man with a beard; who looked familiar and definitely highly experienced. I didn't try any of their famous tiki-bar cocktails, but word has it that they are definitely worthy trying!

This is the perfect bustling place to be on a hot summer day in Auckland by the waterfront!

Popped in yesterday with a group for a couple drinks in the sun & a pineapple parfait for mum - a lovely pl with great decor & a chilled vibe- service was ok - will try some other food items and definitely cocktails next time.

3.5/5 Rating.
Beautifully plated food with decent sized portions. Some of the plates could have had a bit more on it though. It was pretty with the sauces and things but pretty empty.

Overall quite a good dining experience. The staff were friendly and the food was served relatively quick. Nothing really stuck out as a favorite though.

Met up with a friend and thought that this place would be nice to try since it's new. We didn't book and all the inside tables weren't available, but we were able to get some tables in the semi-outdoor area by the bar facing the harbour. The server was really friendly and helpful. They even let us move tables when there was room inside since it was getting a bit cold.

We were going to order a few things to share but ended up trying the chefs choice menu since they were able to change some of the dishes due to dietary requirements. There were a few things that were a lot better than I thought they would be like the sweet potato bread and the taro leaf wrapped chicken.

The ceviche was nice but didn't have enough acidity. I thought that the white swirls on the plate was tigers milk but ended up being coconut milk. Nice flavours but felt it was a bit off. I found the salmon poke to be too acidic where I thought it would've been cleaner. The pork yakitori stick was nice. The gyoza had good flavour, especially the dipping sauce, but thought the filling was a bit too wet so it almost had a gluggy texture. The taro wrapped chicken was beautifully cooked. personally found the sauce a bit too salty but it was evened out when eaten with the chicken.

The desserts were interesting and not as expected. I found the chocolate custard to be on the bitter side but was nice with the sorbet. The coconut parfait was interesting in both flavour and texture.

Quite a nice place for a meal in Wynyard Quarter. The food is generally quite nice but thought there just some things that needed to be iron out. Considering that they are quite new it is a really great accomplishment.

My partner and I decided to try these guys out as they were connected to Little Jimmy's in Epsom, and we had enjoyed our visits there. Nice spot on the Waterfront, the people were lovely, greeted and helpful service. The decor is in theme and the restaurant well laid out with several different spaces.

We shared 4 small dishes: Ika Mata (Raw Fish coconut) Crispy Chicken Karaage, Smoked Pork Ribs, Crab Sliders, and Shoe string fries. For desert we shared Coconut Parfait, Chilled Pineapple Soup, Rum, and Chocolate Custard, Koko Samoa, Mango Sorbet, and had two glasses of red wine. It was all delicious.

The price were fair and reflected the quality of the food. Definitely go back again and try a few other items (the Pot Sticker Dumplings looked amazing) and try a cocktail or two.

We got to try this newly opened Hawaiian themed restaurant for Sunday lunch. The menu we had was a bit if a shortcut of their regular menu due to some out of stock ingredients. But what we had was nothing short in flavours. The pork ribs and Sapsui were the favourites. I think the servings were a bit of a small for the price but they definitely made up with the tastes.

The whole theme of the restaurant was very well executed, our waitress was well trained and attentive and food was exciting and delicious.

I'd definitely be coming back to try what I've missed out on
We came here as we are big favourites of the other sister restaurants (Little Jimmys One Tree Grill).. we weren’t hungry so didn’t try food as such just wanted to check the place out. Awesome venue setup just lacking in the coconut island theme.. no dumplings on the menu.. no signature served in a coconut cocktail or any coconuts around... no marinated raw fish..
We ordered a cocktail each: (not that great)
OMalleys Escape
Tepache Highball
And the Shoestring fries with house ketchup.. yum

Very disappointed with the slow service... definitely a teething issue for a new restaurant. The restaurant wasn’t particularly full either but the service wasn’t as responsive. Hopefully this is something the restaurant will look at and improve on.

When our firepit pork pineapple skewers/yakitori arrive they were cold :( not to mention they delivered the wrong dish the first time and after we got our food they delivered the wrong food to the table next to us. Not keen on the smoked pork hock either...

We wanted to like it but it didn’t happen...

New Asian fusion eatery at Wynyard Quarter. Lots of indoor/outdoor spaces & a great fit out.
Service was good - still some teething issues being a new eatery, but that’s expected. All staff were friendly & meals were delivered promptly.
Food was delicious - lots of variety & great flavours. Only thing of concern was the value for money. $11 for a bowl of fries, $16.50 for 3 very small chicken thigh skewers, $14.50 for smoked butternut that was again on the small side & more of a side dish. Very expensive for lunch, and all of our group left hungry. I hope they do well, but other premium eateries in the area (like White & Wong, or Baduzzi) offer better value for money.
