Review Huami - Auckland Central

Tammy-Jade Collymore
Huami truly exceeded my expectations! Their extensive menu offers something for everyone, and the food was absolutely amazing and lived up to the hype. My personal favorite was the Steamed Pork Ribs, and the Duck was divine as well. Their drinks were not only beautifully crafted but they were delicious. While both the food and cocktails were ridiculously good, what made the experience even more enjoyable was the exceptional service by Eva and Eli. They were unbelievably gracious, kind, and attentive. Eva's sweet and lovely personality and professional approach were impressive, and Eli's welcoming demeanor put me at ease. Even when I accidentally spilled my drink, they were incredibly understanding and replaced it promptly. The combination of awesome food and spectacular service makes it a definite Win-Win, and I can't wait to return!

Beautiful restaurant... Absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very efficient. The plates were a large serve which I'm not used too. Is a bit pricier than other yum cha options, but the serving sizes and quality of food explained that away. Would highly recommend as a must.

Food was good here..service is excellent. We ordered a variety of dim sums and happy with the quality. The dessert was amazing with the right balance..the only issue is probably the kids meal as the fried chicken lacked flavour and crisp. Follow for more @cloverbakesnz

Thank you for the personal touches added to the service. Much appreciated. And thank you to the young lady who provided much of the service throughout the night. She had a very pleasant nature and paid close attention to detail. Service from beginning to end was exceptional. We had the Nectar Menu and it was divine with just the right amount of food. The clear crabmeat soup was my favourite. Wide range of drinks on offer. I love rum so had the Jade Dragon. Well worth the price and would return to have it again in a heartbeat. Husband had the House Beer which he enjoyed.

Very yummy traditional Shanghai Style Chinese food. The seasoning is not too strong and the portions are moderate, so you can enjoy many dishes. I particularly recommend the xiao long bao(小籠包), which is the best Chinese restaurant in the CBD.

The Yum Cha flavor is decent, but the Peking duck's quality doesn't quite measure up to what it used to be years ago.

Great food and services. The private room is quiet and spacious. The scallop, prawn and duck are amazing! Great for a special occasion.

Staff members are friendly, courteous and helpfull. Some are attentive and some aren't so much. We ordered glutinous rice dish, and we waited for 1hr before being told that the kitchen forgot to make it for us; this is after our attempts to to asked about the dish earlier and we were only told that it'll take 10 minutes - every time we asked, without any follow up from their side. Food is a bit too bland for me. The dishes are going towards fusion rather than pure Asian.

One of the most fancy Chinese restaurant in town: Baiju ice cream is a must try (it has the pleasant Chinese white wine aroma but taste totally like ice cream; love the lamb, soft crab and scallops; rest are average

Finally had a chance to try Huami. Light taste, not oily. Peking duck was great, although the skin can be crispier. Dim sum comes in three pieces. The truffle prawn dumpling was good. Service can be a bit better.

Me and my partner decided to eat here just to find a place to eat dinner together. The service was lovely from the beginning - seated within 15 mins, and the restaurant and bar has a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious - we tried the beef, lamb shanks and stir fry vegetables. The lamb was absolutely the highlight, marinated perfectly and just melts in your mouth. I think the price was worth the food. We left very satisfied. Highly recommended chinese restaurant and bar

Huami serves the best Chinese cuisine in Auckland. Everything is just perfect. Ordered the set menu this time and it was such a feast! Can’t wait to visit again!

Went for restaurant month. <br/>Had Peking duck, Yangzhou fried rice, bean cooked in olives leaves, black pepper beef, Pinot noir with antipodes sparkling water. <br/>Waitress was great, always topping up our sparkling without having to chase them up for it. <br/>Plates were replaced before starting mains.<br/>Peking duck was tender with crispy skin. The beans were perfect crunch and softness, we thought it was the highlighted surprise of the evening. Beef was tender, we wished our digestion would fit more in.<br/>Flavor was certainly haute cuisine chinese, subtle and not in your face type that you get from ordinary takeaways. <br/>Will be back for more for sure.

Just go to your classic chinese restaurants where the food is wayy more tasty (and authentic) aand is actually your moneys worth.<br/>Heard Huami is the least appealing restaurant at skycity and thats facts. <br/><br/>

We went there for dinner! I didn't expect the food presented were almost cold dishes, talking about the Peking duck and the sichuan prawn… many chinese restaurants will do much much better than this! It is quite costy… and the service is awful… no one is filling up the water for the whole evening… and after we paid the bill, we were even asked to pay again… seriously?! I will never ever come again…

Came here for drinks. Cute vibe and hip crowd

Great place to try, obviously if you are expecting the traditional yum char experience with your dim sum being served on trollies and the hustle and bustle, then this is not the place. However this is the place to go if you are after something different, yum char with a modern twist. Xiao long baos and truffle prawn dumplings were delicious but my absolute favourite was the wok fried radish cakes with XO sauce. It was the ultimate comfort food and reminded me of home.

Huami is finally bringing a contemporary atmosphere to Chinese restaurants in Auckland, something long overdue. Think sleek and dark, black and neon red…no brightly lit dining rooms with heavy white tablecloths and faded cheap crockery here.
Matthew Ouyang
Crazy overpriced. Food taste slightly above average. Portions are tiny. Plenty of other Asian restraunts with similar food for cheaper.

Today I will write about Huami – one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Auckland. Situated below the Sky Tower, it is a great place to entertain family and friends who enjoys the Chinese cuisine. Huami offers signature dishes from regional parts of China including Beijing, Guangzhou, Huaiyang and Sichuan.<br/><br/>The sophisticated settings and the atmospheric environment forms a pleasant dining experience.<br/><br/>Today we went for the a la carte.<br/><br/>We started with the Superior Broth with King Crab Meat & Fresh Fungus. The broth was fresh and light with a umami flavour.<br/><br/>Secondly, arrived the Fruit Wood-Roasted Peking Duck. The traditional way to eat the Peking Duck is to wrap the meat, onion and cucumber within the pancake with fermented flour paste.<br/><br/>The Pancake was thin and stretchy; The duck was tender with a crispy skin; and the paste tasted authentic.<br/><br/>Shortly after we received the Boiled Chicken with Spicy Chilli Oil & Bean Sauce. They used chicken breast which is slightly tougher in texture, but the use of spice was excellent. I was slightly annoyed with the order of meal, this is a cold dish which should be served before the Peking Duck.<br/><br/>Later arrived the Crispy Lamb Rack marinated in Plum Sauce. The lamb was tender with a slight crisp. The sweetness of the plum sauce matched well with the meat. The lamb was not greasy nor has a mutton smell.<br/><br/>Simultaneously, we received the XO Chilli Fried Rice with Shrimp & Squid. This is my must-order dish at Huami. The flavouring of the fried rice was divine. The rice was grainy with a firm texture.<br/><br/>I have visited this restaurant many times, never once I was let down on the taste.<br/><br/>The restaurant is priced at the higher end of scale, which includes the beautiful presentation and premium experience you receive. I do however expect a more l considerate and attentive hospitality.<br/><br/>Taste: 10/10<br/><br/>Presentation: 9/10<br/><br/>Service: 8/10<br/><br/>Ambience: 10/10<br/><br/>Value for money: 9/10<br/><br/>Price $70 per person (excl alcohol)

Really really recommend the bbq pork bun and slices 👌 juicy as hell and super flavourful. One of the best places in Auckland to go for yumcha/lunch in terms of food quality and ambience. <br/><br/>Best to make a booking as they get quite full, particularly during weekends or holidays. Very fast and professional service too.

Loved the interior and ambience; the wait staff were very helpful and polite. The home made spinach egg tofu was to die for, the sauce was amazing and it was beautifully presented. The Hong Kong style noodles weren’t bad but considering the price, I expected something better. They reminded me of the Malaysian noodles that they sell at the UoA quad. I probably won’t come here again but it was a nice one off experience.

Huami had a great atmosphere, food, and service. I came here for dinner, they were helpful with wine selection and patient when ordering. The food , although expensive, was authentic. Each dish was very different in style and the flavour of the main component of that dish was brought out well. I was particularly impressed with the claypot duck and chestnut because the duck pieces were all breast and no bone, yet it was extremely tender. Flavour wise, I couldn't say I had favourite as they were all delicious.<br/>Would come again from time to time for a special treat.

Yumcha @huamiakl 🥟🥢 Located on the ground floor of the sky tower, 🐼 has been here a couple times for dinner but has yet to try out their Cantonese brunch menu “Dim Sum”! So happy that @foodiestablenz and @rita.thefoodie joined me for a dim sum date last week!<br/>.<br/>Instead of the traditional cart service, orders are made from the menu. A few premium dim sum options, such as their “truffle prawn dumplings” ($12) and “abalone siew mai shrimp chicken dumplings” ($15) were available on the menu. The truffle prawn dumplings were pretty decent, as well as their grammable “squid ink dumplings” ($9), both came with generous prawn fillings. But I did not notice any hint of squid or squid ink in the squid ink dumplings other than it being black in skin color😆 (which I didn’t mind, just a bigger prawn dumpling in black) 🖤<br/>.<br/>I also liked their congees, we tried both the fish congee and the chicken congee with century egg (yes that black preserved egg)🖤<br/>.<br/>The rest of the dishes we ordered tasted mediocre at best and I find their dim sum options quite limited in general, especially in the dessert section, only 4 were listed. No egg tarts 😢<br/>.<br/>Overall, Huami has a nice oriental-themed ambience and some premium dim sum options if you wish to impress. But for an authentic dim sum experience, I would probably go somewhere else😝<br/>.<br/>💲Price ~$40/person<br/>😋Taste 3/5<br/>📍CBD

I can only rate their cocktails, which I enjoyed more than my fair share of over the course of two evenings! These were beautifully executed by the excellent staff. Food looks stunning, so I'll have to give it a try when I'm next in Auckland.

We ordered 2 x Whole fruit wood roasted pecking duck, Sweet sour deep fried prawns, Sichuan style prawns, shrimp chilli fried rice and xiao long bao. This was enough to feed 8 people.<br/>I was not expecting much from the fried rice but it was surprisingly delicious, slightly spicy but with a sweet and buttery taste with a lot of shrimp.<br/>The peking duck was great but nothing special or as nice as other signiture Chinese peking duck restaurants. I did note the pancakes were very light and thin.<br/>Xiao Long bao is served in 4 pieces and the juice/soup inside each dumpling is delicious.<br/>The prawn dishes were average, but I noticed each prawn were very plump.<br/>Service and atmosphere were both exceptional.<br/>If you're after peking duck/Xiao Long Bao with a few cocktails in a clean modern setting or have someone to impress this place is the one.

The quality of food delivered at Huami is quite high however, it is a little on the pricy side. The dishes utilised high quality New Zealand produce which I truly appreciated. I don’t think I have ever tried scallops as large and fresh as these ones.

I hesitated to visit because I was always of the opinion you can get great dumplings at a third of the price from many a yum Cha joint. We came for my sisters birthday and I was not disappointed and my opinion had completely changed! It actually wasn’t too much more per head compared to regular yum Cha, but the dumplings were absolutely delicious!!!! The Peking duck was sensational. Such a cool interior of the restraint as well! Will definitely come here again. Loved every moment,

Beautiful restaurant and very friendly staff. We went for lunch and were greeted on entry, then taken to a table prepared for us as we had a booking very quickly. <br/><br/>There are menus to order from and yumcha trolleys as well, with unique spins on traditional yumcha offerings. <br/><br/>Dumplings came in different colors, which was quite different and you can tell the restaurant uses quality ingredients when creating these dishes. E.g it’s not too oily etc compared other yumcha places. <br/><br/>The waitress was also very attentive, we didn’t need to ask for more hot water as she was constantly filling it for us.<br/><br/>Highly recommend Huami for its service and food!

Beautiful bar in Sky City. Came here for drinks. Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly and the cocktails were exquisite. Lovely decor and atmosphere.

Our family go to place for any Chinese festival celebrations. The place is well managed and is located in a lively place. They are slightly expensive but in return you get high quality food.

I've been here a few times for dinner, but today was a first for yum cha. It's definitely one of the higher-end and more expensive yum cha places in Auckland, but definitely worth the experience. <br/><br/>The food was served very aesthetically and tasted overall pretty yum. I was quite disappointed with the Pan-fried buns, the base of the buns was not hard enough and it seemed to be a little undercooked, and because of this, the skin tasted a bit mushy. <br/>I highly recommend the truffle hargao, they were amazing! The Chasiu was SO good, it felt like it melted in your mouth. The Peking duck is pretty similar to most good Chinese restaurants. <br/>The desserts are bit of an acquired taste, I personally didn't enjoy the herbal jelly and the almond bean curd because they both tasted too herbally/Chinese herbal medication taste, but many people that I was with said they enjoyed it.<br/><br/>The service was good, the place was quite busy, and its difficult to get the yum cha trollies through a very small confined space, which made it a little difficult for the servers to explain what dishes they had - especially because they're not your traditional as the ones at your general yum cha store. The benefit is that you get a menu with the names of all the dishes and if you don't see it on the trolley you can order it as well, so it saves you waiting for the trolley to come out and have another table potentially take your dish first.<br/> <br/><br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Ambience: 5/5<br/>Service: 4/5

Been here three times so far this year. Not sure Huami is the best yumcha in Auckland, but pretty sure here is the most expensive one. Nice food and good services. Highly recommend their roast deck and fried rice. The only drawback is the price.

5/5 Taste<br/>4.5/5 Display <br/>4/5 Quantity <br/>5/5 Customer Service<br/><br/>Best Yumcha in Auckland.<br/><br/>This place is like the fine dining version of yumcha you can enjoy, the service was top class from entering the restaurant. <br/>Ambience wasn’t like ordinary yumcha restaurant at all, it felt like I was walking into some high end European restaurant (the gate looked asian tho) <br/>Food was really good, <br/>Buns were my favourite, sweet and crispy on the outside so salty and juicy on the inside. Shumais, and dumplings were so goooood too but I shouldnt explain in detail as I’m not Chinese enough. <br/>Highly recommended!

first time been here, not really in favour of the manager's attitude and the service overall... food is ok, not the best yumcha in the town though...

Service is all right but the food make both me and my boyfriend feel sick after having lunch here. Two stars to the service. Would not come back again.

Normal service, terrible food.<br/>I don’t know why the rating of this place is so high. <br/>We arrived 10 minutes later than we originally booked, and the reception told us we have to sit next to the bar without any trolley services. Later on another customer came in, without any booking, and the reception just let him in to the dining area. <br/>The only possible reason I can figure is that we only have 3 people, so maybe we cannot contribute that much to them, huh?<br/><br/>Alright, let’s talk about the food now.<br/>The chicken bun is just ok — same taste to the bun I bought at the UoA recreation center. The shrimp wanton noodle is...disaster, everyone could cooked a noodle better than this. <br/>The most unacceptable is the tea. We ordered a wulong tea, which is just hot water with tea ball. The taste is so mild, just like water. They called it Huami Style tea, hmm.......<br/>Warning: If you want to try some dimsum, don’t go here. The grand habour in the city, machehui or the dragon boat are better places to go, with a much cheaper price.

Huami is unlike any other Chinese restaurant, as a fan of yum cha I know what to look for and what the good ones really taste. Having a lot of Chinese friends help even living in Hong Kong helped even more in sifting though and choosing the cream of the crop and I can say this is one of the top ones I tried. Presented really well everything feel like each dimsum was well taken care of, it is served with refinement and finesse. The prices are quite high but if you take into consideration the location and the quality of dishes that come out of that kitchen then you will understand why.
Ashley Tran
It’s my first experience at Huami. 3 top dishes are Bejing duck, bbq pork with Manuka honey and dimsum basket. However, the taste is a little bit salty for myself.

Went to have YumCha a couple of weeks ago and found the food way too overpriced for the quality... and the restaurant doesn't seem to be managed very well. Will never go again and definitely don't recommend it. <br/><br/>It was so bad that I even registered an account for this.

High-end Chinese restaurant! Went there with my colleague on a Wednesday’s night. The front desk lady at the reception is attentive. We ordered the salted fish fried rice, Veges, beef, duck and cucumber in spicy sauce. Peking duck was great, the black pepper beef is legit too! Mango dessert was yummy! Overall it was an awesome dining experience. :)

This is our second time in Huami. The service was great. We ordered a few dishes. Beijing duck, shrimp soup. Shanghai xiaolongbao and a dessert. The Beijing duck was quite nice but still not meet our expection. The worse one is Shanghai Xiaolongbao. They were not even cooked properly. They seem to be reheated from microwave. 😡<br/><br/>As a high-end restaurant in Auckland, I expected something special but it is just so average.<br/>

Absolutely stunning food!<br/><br/>Highly recommend. I have tried a few things from Huami, I have a few favourites that I always must order when I’m there.<br/><br/>Crunchy prawn dumplings: Must try, simply delicious. 5/5<br/><br/>Honey glazed pork with mustard: I must say, this dish is out of this world. 5/5<br/><br/>Peking duck: Best duck in town! This dish is very filling with the pancakes, so I prefer to only order this when I’m with at least another 4 people. 5/5<br/><br/>Black bean beef: The beef is cooked to perfection and the flavour will keep your mouth watering, wanting more and more. 5/5<br/><br/>As you can tell, I really can’t fault Huami, the cuisine is just impeccable.<br/><br/><br/>

Yumcha at Huami consists of the usual dishes but with a premium twist. Sure it’s more expensive but you receive better quality of food, taste and service. I’m not normally a fan of those white meat buns you’d typically find at yumchas but Huami’s fried version really stood out to me, it was crispy yet pillowy soft, highly recommend it. Another stand out was the BBQ pork which melts in your mouth, it is smokey with a hint of sweetness and just the right amount of char. The restaurant is located on ground floor of Skycity, you can’t miss the big red door. Give it a go.

When it first opened I swore by this place as the best Chinese restaurant in Auckland. However, recent visits have been disappointing to say the least. Went to yumcha and asked if we can get fresh tea cups as they were all tea stained. Waiter was reluctant and said ‘It’s just tea stain’. I had to ask a couple more times for him to say ‘I’ll check if we have more cups’. Just wow. He also refused to speak English to me because I guess I look like I can speak Chinese? Even when I don’t reply in Chinese he continued to do so which was just frustrating. He also got our order wrong for steamed veges, as we asked for no garlic but he replied ‘it’s steamed veges’. I am honestly appalled at how this kind of service is acceptable at an expensive Skycity owned restaurant. Absolutely disgusted with the service we received that day.

Came here for my birthday lunch with my family and being asian they are hard to impress! But this place not only blew them away, the service was impeccable and the staff were super friendly and very quick to top up tea, clear the empty plates etc, <br/>The crispy duck and the honey glazed cha siu were delicious! I have never had char siu so melt in your mouth before and the duck was not only crispy but not greasy like other places.<br/>The cha siu baos were also another stand out dish as they were so good my dad decided to order two lots for take away so he could saviour them at home, i do not overly like char siu baos but today was an exception, the filling was delicious, sweet, salty, juicy! And the meat again was melt in your mouth and the Baos were so fluffy they did not feel dense and heavy like other places. I also really enjoyed the glutinous rice, the truffle ha gaos, the congee was deliciously smooth, my family also really enjoyed the chicken feet, pork spare ribs and we also ordered a few of their signature dishes which did not disappoint. <br/>Yes this place is more pricer than other yum cha places but you really get what you pay for and the quality, effort and ingredients were top notch! <br/>We left with very full and happy bellies! And hope to return again soon <br/>

A wide range of Chinese food, just smaller portions and pricier. The staff were friendly and overall it was a nice experience but won’t be coming back because there are so many better places at a more reasonable price.

Polite and friendly staff, as well as beautiful decor. The food was equally amazing and flavoursome, also aesthetically pleasing. I would definitely recommend this place to come to for dinner if you wanna spoil yourself or someone else ❤️

I have to say the service is top notch but food is very average. <br/><br/>Lobster with mapo tofu is good taste. But tofu is cold so this can only mean that sauce is precooked and tofu is not cooked with tofu. Then it is mixed with the lobsters. Nice blend but i felt it was a lazy way of cooking the food. Rate: 3/5<br/><br/>Soup is the worst part for me. I’m sorry the cucumber felt better than the soup. 1/5<br/><br/>Clam is amazing though. Cooked perfectly in and out. 4/5 <br/><br/>Baijiu cocktail is special. Rate: 3.5/5 <br/><br/>Overall I feel with the price and environment, chef could use more techniques in their cooking. At least don’t serve mapo lobster tofu with cold tofu.

Came here on Sunday lunch time without booking so were seated at the bar. Food is delicious and service is top notch, however the price is quite up there. $9 for 3 piece of siu mai, $12 for hargao, abit on the steep side. I don’t know if that’s really worth it. Good for special occasions I guess, great inside decor.

Their service is one of the best. The duck was to die for!! I have nothing bad to say because I've been here twice and still are consistent with how they serve people.

came here with friends because we wanted to eat duck on rice, if you're looking for some decent one in town then this place will not disappoint you at all. friendly stuff, also great service on my first time visiting there. me and friends are planning to visit again, but this time we will order more from their menus.

Loved lunch here enjoyed how everything came with it’s own dipping sauce. My highlight was the duck will definitely be back to try more off the menus

Huami is the perfect place to explore a modern and traditional twist of yum cha in Auckland city. This time round, I ordered their famous BBQ Pork bun that has a delicious sweet crumble finish on the top, their scalloped sui mai & the deep fried duck wonton. Every time I come here the service is always friendly and the food is always consistent! The interior of this place is to die for, making it the perfect dine in restaurant perfect for brunch and dinner outings with family and friends!

Food was not bad, dessert on the topband the bottom are very tasty. Tea are Zealong tea, recommend the Wulong tea. However the experience was screwed first by the background music which was too loud and noisy. Then the blonde waitres. She was grumpy knowing that we splitting bills. Then she declared that the Alipay can't be used that day to minimize her trouble of pay methods.
Mai
Had dinner here recently with my friends. Nice decoration inside. I was impressed with our starters and dessert. Especially the marinated prawn with grapefruit and pomegranate- love the source, well- balance. We had mango pudding, sesame parfait +durian icecream and jasmine mousse. They are very nice and tatsty. I like the mango pudding the most - it tastes very fresh like I was actually having a fresh mango.<br/> The main dishes we had was duck and pork belly which were average for me. <br/>However, the service was not as great as we expected except our waitress who was very nice. The runners who placed the food on our tables did not let us know what dish they were.

Nice decoration restaurant at sky tower good location. Food was okay we had steamed blue cod and soup and stirred fried vegetables. It’s quite expensive here if compared with food that I got. Plus we had not professional service from 1 waitress. But other waiter and waitress very nice.

Looking for the most spectacularly succulent chicken in Auckland ? Your search ends here. Kong Bao Chicken is the true definition of meltingly soft - the plump, preternaturally tender morsels beautifully caramelized in a dried-chill-vinegar sauce. Looking to make a no-carb light meal out of it ? Contrast it with the Quick-fried String Beans which had been wok-taken to the ideal intersection of crisp and soft and flavourful. <br/><br/>To enjoy these perfectly balanced delights , journey to the foot of Auckland's sleek modernistic mountain which is the Skytower, look around the flanking domains and let your eye snag the totally unique entrance touch of red lanterns. Unusual amongst its Chinese brethren in Auckland, the obviously moneyed proprietors of Huami apportion equal space to decor, besides snazzying up this downtown restaurant with smart upmarket styling. A sizeable space facing the main dining area is dedicated to a rock and wood reservoir that houses shelves of ceramic teapots, kettles, bamboo baskets and rows of chopped wood blocks. Generous dark wood muscles through the place. The best part is when you head to the powder room and I'm not referring to the little mountains of white folded cotton towels. <br/><br/> The kitchen can often be terrific, but sometimes it seems to be ill-advisedly inspired by the SkyCity casino situated above, and throws the dice with some dishes too wantonly, the diced chicken, seven spice squid andd the dumplings particularly suffering. <br/><br/>Remarkably and also refreshingly, all the waitstaff over various evenings were female. They are all haunted by the ghost of the male waiter who was never allowed here. That evil phantom yang makes these yin clueless about co-ordination and vigilance. How about pampering ? There is no word for it in Huami. Am I being rude towards these nice lasses ? How on earth can I especially when they show such strong solidarity with a significant chunk of waitstaff all over town, by making you do a face-palm and eventually jettison any hope of a strong and reliable managerial presence working the room. You place your order with one waitress and another comes asking whether you've done so - it's a nice two-in-one way of meeting Alice-'n'-Amy. Bonus : if you're too busy chatting , you can count on the staff not to disturbingly remind you to have your main course before the kitchen's closing time (desserts can be ordered till the very end though). <br/><br/>To make up, order the Crispy Tabasco Prawns with pomelo salsa which is amongst their finest appetizers , appearing as chunky orange jewels from the sea. They are plump, succulent, caramelized crisp and bathed in a lip-smacking sauce of spicy, sweet and tart notes. Deflating that high is the diced deep-fried chicken, cooked in a mediocre cornflour coating, the meat like processed pieces, only partially salvaged by the multifariously intense flavours, Indo-Chinese style, of a coriander chilli sauce. Disappointment escalated with seven spice fried squid - again that listless cornflour batter showed up, the squid chewy and muted.<br/><br/>Crave a rip-off ? The Special Dim Sum Platter is priced at $20 - the menu does not tell you clearly that there are only four medium size dumplings offered ! (nevermind if these are four different varieties). The taste is just passable. In fact, dumplings are their weakest section. Saffron dumpling with vegetables had phantom flavour, the dumpling skin on the chewier side. Crab and Spinach versions were let down by flavourless bits of crab cut down to nothingness, with too much spinach. <br/><br/>Crisp Duck Wonton seems an unlikely winner on the menu, but it was a knock-out dish nonetheless, powered by rich, fatty and dulcet finely chopped duck caramelized to marvellous intensity. "Wok-fried King Crab with spicy butter sauce" ($88) was delicious with a smacking good sauce that absorbed the wonderful sweet marine magic of good crab. <br/><br/>Some of Huami's finest joys don't come from the food. There is a gorgeous "gold room" inside, the luxurious wallpaper and a large rather chunky crystal chandelier buffing up the compact room, the table settings more modest but still very elegant. This six-seater private room can be yours for the whole night for a minimum spend of NZD $1000. On the other side is a dark barely lit tantalizing space - riveting for us, a nightmare for the ducks. About sixty of them are strung up, and next to their mausoleum is a spot-lit chopping block of glowing wood , crowned by a cleaver's tip knifed into the centre. <br/><br/>Huami is unafraid to present bold Asian flavours in desserts. The best example of this is black sesame parfait (a cross between ice cream and cake) and durian ice cream. Leanly spicy perfume of candied black sesame is beautifully channelled into a chilled soft cylinder and a sesame tuile is the textural screen that separates the other component. There's no odour, you only get some echoes of the notorious stinkiness when you taste the cool sweet ice cream that is neverthless an audaciously successful addition to the dish. Their mango pudding presentation is sexy and glamorous, with a restrained taste of mango but the real potential of the dish is unleashed with when you taste all the components including pomelo "drops" and the kaffir lime ice-cream together in a single spoonful that yields rainbow sparkles of perfumed joy. More pleasure : Jasmine mousse discloses exquisite essence of the said flavour - the second time it was ordered their creativity and technical finesse multiplied by encasing the mousse in a sphere and zestfully contrasting it with orange segments and matcha crumble, complete with an inveigling jasmine ice-cream by the side. <br/><br/>Auckland may not have places like Melbourne's luxury Chinese formal-dining "Flower Drum" but teams like the one behind Huami have enough steam in them to achieve such goals if they set their mind to it. 3.5 / 5 = Between Good and Excellent. Premium restaurant that serves delicious chinese food. Servings were pretty small, but tastes so good. The place is nice, and their big red door’s instagram worthy. :)

Huami has established itself as a premium Chinese restaurant in Sky City. Not only does it serve fancy dinners, but it is also a destination for a nice business lunch or an afternoon of pampering with their not-so-conventional Yumcha dishes. We had a selection of dishes, each of them seem to resemble what you can get a standard Cantonese restaurant, but are all subtly different.

Decided to dine here for dinner with the family. <br/><br/> The best dish we ordered was the Peking duck, typically with Peking duck as a dish the duck can be oily and the duck oil seeps into the pancake resulting in a greasy mess. <br/> However the duck here has beautifully crispy skin and the meat was just right. Served with the usual condiments and two bundles of pancakes. At typical restaurants you always run out of pancakes.<br/> Here we easily could have had the whole Peking duck as a meal.<br/><br/>The Gai lan was good, along with the lamb chops. Nothing that blew me out of the way but it they were good dishes. <br/> The garlic prawns were such a disappointment, I’ve never seen prawns served split in half along the whole body. The prawns were over cooked and the garlic was chucked on top of the prawns. . So there wasn’t much effort into the actual dish. <br/><br/> In terms of the dishes, there are hit and misses. Overall I’ll be back for the duck, if they did do duck take away I would go out of my way to get duck served here for important Chinese occasions. <br/> Other than that I don’t think I will be back, given that three out of the four dishes weren’t stand out dishes, I know where to go it I want good Chinese food for less $$<br/><br/> Venue it self is very nice, we were seated but the duck preparation station so it was an interesting watch. Staff are decently friendly and attentive.

This restaurant is very average. The food is okay but is only popular because it is a sky city restaurant. The food Is expensive and really not worth the price you pay.
Calvina
Great ambience which is optimal for family lunches/dinner. Efficient service and good dim sum selection. Particularly enjoyed the duck, which meat was tender but crispy on the top!

My family and I came here for my birthday and it was so magical! The service was incredible, and the food was unlike anything else. They even surprised me with a dessert after we had finished eating! Super cute :)

Amazing yum cha food, very tasty and the dumplings are fuller. I love how the dumplings with prawns in it really have huge chunks of the prawns. Ha Kao is definitely my favourite. The combination of prawn and truffles are so good! Love it. Would come back again.
Lulu
I love this place. Really nice décor. The food is amazing, especially the duck. The price is on the high side but worth it. The only complaint is that you can be slow to be served it you sit on the side of the bar.
Ethan Liaw
Loved everything here apart from the food! Over all deco is stylish and modern with the walk way towards the toilet being the highlight ( you will know when you go have a look!). Service was brilliant; never have I been to a yum cha where my tea was constantly topped up and tended to. <br/>We were there for the yum cha. I think it was over priced for your average dim sum. Apart from the steam dumplings which were fresh, everything else seems to be just warm and dry. <br/>I was quite excited about the black truffle prawn dumpling and the squid ink prawn dumpling, but like everything else the taste was “average”. 3 dumplings at $12 is prob not worth the money even with its fusion element (woodpecker hill and blue breeze inn does a better job), however the Ingredients are fresh! <br/><br/>Instagram worthy: 5/5<br/>Service 5/5<br/>Food 1/5

I ordered a ‘Huami XO chilli fried rice shrimps and squid’ last night. The rice was uncooked, now I’m in Auckland Hospital for ‘food poisoning’. Doctor has put me for a drip. I was suffering vomiting and stomachache all night. I wouldn’t say Huami isn’t a clean restaurant to eat but last night due to some reason I think the chef didn’t cook the rice property. I would never go again to this place.

Visited Huami 3 times so far, quite impressed the first time - loving the tasteful decor, atmosphere and presentation of food - the idea of taking yum cha to the next level. Nevertheless the quality of food was not consistent as we hope it would be for our 2nd and 3rd visit - some dim sums were overcooked.
Gus
Tasteful decor, the restaurant was busy on a Saturday night. Service did not suffer, food was mostly excellent. We had dim sum for entrees which I found beautiful, but didn't live up to expectations in taste. You must get the Peking duck. Wood fired the traditional way, the meat was succulent and the skin light and crispy. We also got the mah po tofu hot pot and a very tender pepper steak. Desserts were nicely presented, my mango pudding was a light finish to a generous meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal, I would go back. A solid 4.5 stars

We went here with quite a large group and although most ordered the banquet, staff were very accommodating with a couple of us who had dietary requirements, and allowed us to order from the menu. The decor was nice and I felt the restaurant was quite spacious, although a bit awkward pushing two round tables together for a group of 13 - but they made it work. The food was nice, but not outstanding which given the price was a slight let down. I think my expectations had been set quite high knowing ahead of time it was $95 per person without alcohol, but I'm not sure it reached the mark.

An overrated restaurant. Had yum char there. Nothing was particularly special except expensive menu. It's right in the heart of city, perhaps if you are after central area to dine that is a place you can try .
I_like_pickles
I love the lanterns that line the outside of the restaurant. The bamboo is a nice touch to the decor as well. My favourite part of the decor is the big red doors with the gold knobs. It really reminds me of the doors of the Chinese palaces.<br/><br/>Had yum cha here. You can order off a menu or wait for the waiters to bring the dim sum around. This is definitely fine dining yum cha, however it's not the best yum cha considering how much you pay.<br/><br/>The food is definitely over priced for what it is. One sweet glutinous rice ball with avocado in a small bowl costs $12. Apart from the filling being avocado, it's satisfactory at best. We got about 7-8 dishes and it was well over $80 for 2 people.<br/><br/>The decor is is very nice and all the tea pots and cutlery are oriental with a modern touch. The service was good however the waiters and waitresses seem quite lost and confused for a fine dining establishment. They were good with topping up the tea(which was delicious) but they were slow to serve and kept serving us the wrong orders.

We had high hopes as our favourite Gusto was booked out and looked forward to high end Asian flavours. We were beyond disappointed. We’d had better food at our local takeaway. Cocktails were average and the hideous seafood on display in tiny tanks were revolting. Would never go there again. Side note: our waitress was lovely and really was the only redeeming thing about our experience.

Little more can be said than superb. Attentive wait staff, appealing environment and surroundings - and the food was something to behold. If there was a sixth star, I would give it!

Visited Huami last time with my family when it first opened its door and was impressed ever since! Tried couple of items on the menu and they were delicious! Pecking duck was perfectly cooked! Yum char menu with many options! Professional services and interesting decorations!👍👍

Went there for yum cha with my parents since mum has been raving about this place for a while. First impression- Not good! I arrived there after my parents already been seated, I could have just walked in find their table. However, I decided to wait by the front as it's the polite thing to do and there're other people there waiting. The hostess saw me standing there but decided to ignore me and went to greet others who walked in after me. I waited patiently thinking maybe she didn't see me. However she walked past me several times (even with eye contact), she still decided to ignore me. Was it because I was the youngest there and I don't look like their VIP (rich) customers? Anyway, 5 minutes passed, mum walked past and saw me. The same hostess saw mum and started to act friendly towards us. Woah! Completely 360 turns with her attitude! <br/><br/>So I walked to the table with mum, sat down but still feeling a bit frustrated and wondering what just happened. Luckily things improved from there. The waitress for our table was super friendly and helpful, made great recommendations for our orders.<br/><br/>I like how the dim sums were freshly made to order, not your average trolly pushing type. The presentation of the dishes was very good. The food tasted as good as they look, which was very surprising. The baked BBQ pork bun was the highlight. Your traditional Cha Siu Bao but with a French twist. Very light and refreshing. The BBQ duck breast was amazing too. crispy skin with well-cooked breast meat. One of the best I had in Auckland. <br/><br/>I was very impressed with the atmosphere of Huami, it captures the modern Chinese deco but yet still managed to have that high class, relax feeling. The place was busy but it didn't feel like as noisy and chaos as other Yum cha places in Auckland. The prices were slightly higher than your average yum cha but with the quality of food, I think it's worth it. The Zeelong tea they serve was a pleasant surprise too. <br/><br/>Even I got off a bad start at this place but the rest of the experience made up for it. I would definitely like to return with my family and friends soon. I would recommend making a booking online to avoid long wait times and disappointments.

I have always been skeptical of ‘modern’ representation of Asian food, unless they also deliver in flavour. Huami definitely did not disappoint!<br/><br/>The interior decor was absolutely stunning. There were red lanterns hanging by the door, which made it impossible to miss! We were sitting at the outside area, which was still covered from the rain, and surrounded by beautiful bamboos. The only downside to the outdoor seating area was that they do not push the trolleys through, so you had to order straight from the menu.<br/><br/>Every single item was gorgeously presented and delicious, like an upgraded version of traditional yum cha. I really loved the creativity. I especially recommend the squid ink dumplings, the spring onion rice rolls, the sticky rice, and the stir fry radish cakes. Their spicy dressing also complimented everything really well! However, the favourite of the day was definitely the pork buns - the pastry was so incredibly crispy, while the filling was juicy and flavourful. My friend’s mom even ordered some to go.<br/><br/>Service was very friendly, and one of the staff was so patient when we asked her to take photos for us.<br/><br/>All in all, a lovely experience was at Huami. The price was too of course twice of what you would spend at normal yum-cha places, but that was to be expected dining at sky city. This is the perfect place to visit for special occasions :)
MasterFoodie
As a Cantonese I'd say the dishes are very innovative and pretty but the taste is average and less authentic. Dimsum variety is limited and I couldn't find any of my favourite ones on the menu. I'd prefer other places for yumcha taste-wise and cost-wise.

My personal favourite “enjoy ur day for pretending you are a rich and fabulous artist living in 1920s shanghai”.<br/>Very good selection of whiskeys and Chinese spirits !<br/>Love the jazzy breeze in the bar.<br/>Don’t expect too much for good taste of Peking duck in Shanghai restaurant, 3.5 of 5, not too bad.<br/>But some of the dishes r very unique and u only can find in this restaurant !!!<br/>Crayfish tofu~ <br/>My favourite dumplings ~<br/>Yep, I just like the bar so much !<br/>Great service !!!!!!!
MrGodHimself
Nice decor and friendly service but food was bland, dry, and poor quality of meat. All up very underwhelming and boring food especially considering the price.

Hubby and I chose the "Huami Nectar" set menu. Waitress was awesome. Food was great. We were full after the starters and had to take home the mains as simply couldn't eat it all. The dessert was freaking delicious!! Love to come back again.

first pic is soft crab just ok, 软壳蟹一般般不热 second pic is tofu the sauce is warm but the tofu is still cold, 第二个豆腐还都是冷的 应该都是提前摆好直接浇汁而已 3rd pic is steam prawn not fresh and too much garlic 第三个大虾不新鲜 虾已经变黑了 and the last pic is duck lower than average level and the leek is not fresh.第四个鸭子很一般 切工也不好 全部连刀没切断 配的葱已经干了 不知道放了多久 两个人$170

Situated below Sky Tower Auckland, Huami offers an extensive menu focusing on Cantonese fare including dim sum that is both traditional and creative. During the day dim sum can be ordered a la carte or in the old fashioned style from steel trolleys. The dinner menu has a stronger focus on more classic dishes from the Southern and Northern regions.

Since Huami has been open, I have been wanting to get my taste buds inside there! Every time I walked past I admired the sophisticated upmarket fit out, which ideally needs a special occasion to fully appreciate this new Chinese fine dining restaurant under the Sky Tower. Finally the opportunity arose, and we ended up sampling quite a few dishes over a four hour long lunch. Our unqualified amateur taste buds were fully maxed out at the end of that session... or was it the never ending supply  of Tsingtao brough out by the impeccable service team...  :-)

Great food... that food fired duck is AMAZING. Great service and nice drinks, overall well worth the expensive price tag. Would come back here when back in Auckland.
Aimee.
I came here with my family and they ordered a bunch of dishes including the Peking duck. I would say the presentation of all the dishes are 5/5- all delicately placed and aesthetic. However the portions are quite small. I ordered mushrooms and broccoli and the dish size was not generous at all. For $18 I expected a bigger dish. The vegan fried rice was a little dry but still flavourful. Also overpriced. This restaurant is more expensive than any other Chinese restaurant I know. However, the restaurant is clean and service is good. This is definitely not a tradition Chinese restaurant- it’s more westernised.

Great meal best Chinese food I’ve ever had in New Zealand everything tasted very tasty especially the bbq pork. Will be back for sure to try the other dishes on the menu as of now I've been here at least 6 times as the food is just soo good the Peking duck is amazing and a must order the dim sum is pretty good too going again today

Nice food nice service but only quantity they need to work on... Tried spicy chicken(dnt know exact name) <br/>Was good and mofu tofu but quantity not good at all as they charging 30 dolrs for dish which come with no rice.. <br/>Not going again <br/>

Huami was an elegant combination of refined Chinese decor with world class dim sum chefs. The finesse in the chicken feet resulted in delicious mouthfuls with its delicate melt in your mouth skin. Its marinade which had a pronounceable hit of chilli lend to a more joyous occasion than most yum chas. <br/><br/>I was taken aback but also surprised at their substitute of pork with the BBQ chicken buns. How unorthodox was my initial Asian reaction. But a mouthful shattered my bias. Soft fluffy pau dough encased juicy and tender pieces of char siu saucy chicken. Ah. I would happily eat more than a lady's share. <br/><br/>Now where does that leave me? The duck wontons. <br/>Right. Excellent wonton skin, shreds of duck tucked inside. Compacted in so you're never left for wanting. Quack, say no more.<br/><br/>The other standout was the siu mai with bigger prawns. <br/><br/>I loved the avocado dumpling in sweet ginger soup. It's a heavenly mochi with a kiss of avocado cream waiting for you to bite into it. <br/><br/>The seafood dumplings were ho hum. The skin already rubbery and tough left the desolate prawn uninteresting. The seafood bean curd roll deserves merit. <br/><br/>But the jasmine tea by Zealong that we picked was so good that we drank TOO MUCH TEA.

Excellent choice for Chinese dining. Very friendly and professional service. Full bar available with wine selections from across the world. Great dining environment. Reasonable price. Very authentic taste. It’s a nice place for casual lunch/dinner or group dinner. <br/><br/>The roast duck served to me in the lunch was cold, not freshly roasted, the only downside.

Huami was recommended by Media. We were very excited being there and ready for the fantastic food.<br/>Staff was helpful and nice. For the food, honestly, lower than what I expected, the higher than average.<br/><br/>Recommend: plum-wood roasted duck<br/><br/>Anyway, we spent $600+ for 4 people.

As Chinese food lover I was looking forward to try the then recently open restaurant in Sky City. Had great expectations but when I left the place they were far from being fulfilled.<br/><br/>The degustation menu was expensive, but OK, that's SkyCity and that's what they target, but some items were simply too overpriced to be true.<br/><br/>Most of the savoury dishes were unimpressive, except for the prawns and the Peking duck (only the duck, the pancake was blunt).<br/><br/>In the end the dinner was saved by the desserts. Unlike most of what I tried in Auckland, it was delicate and well presented, fresh and full of flavour.<br/><br/>Service was ok, respectful and friendly.<br/><br/><br/>

Recently opened Huami along Federal St. in Skycity Auckland. Food were near perfection! From colours, presentation and taste is exquisite. Ordered the dimsum platter and what a combination and fusion of flavours. Staff were so friendly and accomodating, food were serve in 5-10 minutes wait and great range of menu. Option to eat in restaurant or at the bar and menu are different. Next time would try the bar menu and cocktails..... <br/>Would definitely come back!

Huami is the best Chinese food I have ever had. The duck was definitely the highlight with the crispy skin and all rolled up into a little pancake. The sauces are all handmade in the kitchen and are exceptional, can't wait to go again!

First time been to Huami, the atmosphere is so nice and the food presented very well. Instagramable dishes and nice service. Will try other main dishes in the future for sure.

I wouldn’t say this is your traditional Chinese restaurant. First impression of the place, it reminded me of Masu. According to the waiter, it has the same owner as Masu. <br/>For entree, we had softshell crab and deep fried beef brisket. The softshell crab was delicious, but the beef brisket was not as good as I expected. It said it’s deep fried on the menu (in Chinese), but it seemed more like stewed when the dish came out. <br/>For main, of corse we had the Peking duck. The Peking duck is double the price of our local restaurant and offers only one course. But i would still recommend it as it has a special smokey flavour you don’t normally get. <br/>For dessert we had the mango pudding and lychee granita. Very western dessert, again reminded me of Masu’s dessert. Great plating, but we didn’t like them as they were both quite sour...<br/>Service was super attentive, portion was more on a petitie side. But overall, great experience and would come back to try other dishes.

Great food and service. Best chinese restaurant in Auckland. Will surely be a regular here. Impressed with the decor and specially the clay oven on the main open kitchen. Best of luck

Anyone whos abiding a gluten-free eating habit would know it can be awkward experience asking for gf options especially with Chinese cuisine. However, i was more than pleased how much the waiters went out of their way to provide for my dietary concerns, and they have a separate gluten free options making things simpler. Overall my family had a great time. I recommend this place for a luxurious Chinese culinary experience.

Spent a couple of hours with hubby at this restaurant - loved the dumplings , much more care had gone into the dumplings into comparison of the Jade dragon in last couple of years - they held together and had quite a few options - Also had a wonderful bottle of rose , also tried the pancakes - didn't try the more expensive sides of the menu and watched them topping up the fish tank to chose your fish :( couldn't chose a fish to eat - but others didn't seem to have a problem - Lovely to see some of the staff from Jade dragon ( do miss the speed of jade dragon for lunch ) but love this new - next level restaurant

Just had dim sum for lunch. Generously sized, unique and most importantly very tasty dumplings. Look forward to coming back when we return to Auckland!

The interior design is very attractive...the traditional Chinese elements beautifully added around the space. Services are great. Teas are fabulous, it's from a local tea farm in Hamilton, Zealong Tea, love it. But the options for Dim-sums are limited and pricey. The roasted duck maybe very popular, it has a specific showroom for it. But I mean, there must have somewhere else in Auckland got a better one. The proportion of other dishes are quite small too. Taste is ok, overall is worth a try and be prepared to pay more the you expected.

Huami is a whole experience from the moment you walk in the door. Friendly and attentive wait staff, beautiful interior and food to die for.<br/>The devil is in the detail and Huami has nailed it. The duck drying room, bricks exported from China, the amazing carpet in the private dining rooms and a bloody good whisky selection to boot. <br/>Our waitress Sheetal was brilliant - great suggestions on how to order and did a fabulous job of looking after us all night. Peking duck with pancakes was superb. The king crab in spicy butter sauce was the absolute highlight. <br/>Overall this is an exceptional way to dine Chinese style and I can't wait to go back.

Came here for my birthday dinner. The service was faultless. Absolutely lovely dining experience and the attention to detail from the waitress and other staff members was perfect.<br/>The food was delicious however extremely small servings for the price. We were a table of 4 and ordered Peking duck pancakes, soft shell crab, crispy aubergine, peppered ocean beef, kung bao chicken and spicy xo fried rice. Usually Chinese dishes are easily shared, the beef dish especially was tiny and at $42 we expected more.<br/>Other than that the ambience, service, flavour and experience was 10/10. Just a shame we left a little hungry.

After coming here a couple of times just for the cocktails in the bar area as it's a great spot with awesome bartenders... we thought we should try the actual restaurant:<br/>Service is excellent ... we ordered:<br/>Dim Sum Platter<br/>Sweet Sour Prawns<br/>Crayfish noodle dish<br/><br/>The dim sums were very meaty and really nice. The prawns were huge and tasty but the noodle dish wasn't what we expected it was more of a soup style and while the crayfish was plentiful and meaty you really needed a knife and fork as you needed to take it out of the shell and it wasn't bite size.. a bit big for one mouthful-which seems wrong to complain about!<br/>
Jasveen Kaur
We came here on Friday night on a whim. We were told there would be a 30 min wait but didn't have to wait long at the bar at all before they got us a table. The bartender was super knowledgeable and added that extra bit to the experience. The service was lovely and casual yet attentive. <br/><br/>We ordered the restaurant month set menu and it was huge. The winner was the wood fired Peking duck. Crispy skin, delicious flavour, the best Peking duck I've had in Auckland. Enjoyed all the other flavours too, nothing was bad but the Peking duck was excellent. The other excellent thing was the dessert. Coconut and kaffir like ice cream is my new favorite thing.<br/><br/>There were 2 very rude businessmen across from us that were blatantly drunk and very rude to the poor wait staff but they handled them with finesse and respect which is hard in the face of such blatant disrespect for other human beings.<br/><br/>Overall, enjoyed our experience here. You pay for the ambiance and fanciness rather than outstanding food, but the food is still of a good standard and makes it a great experience.

For all the hype surrounding the opening of this restaurant I was expecting an Auckland version of 'The Flower Drum' in Melbourne. Sadly this was not the case. The bar was average with inexperienced waiting staff unsure of even basic cocktails. The food was expensive & well below par for what is proclaimed to be one of Auckland's premier Oriental dining houses. Service was hard to attract at times and I believe the general ambience is too dark & lacks flair. Nic Watt and crew should visit 'The Drum" & see how's it's meant to be done!!

I have ordered the two vegetarian dumplings and they are absolutely way beyond expectation. I am actually really surprised how tasty The two vegetarian dumplings were. I am also in love with the chili sauce and which you can asked for on the side. My family spoke highly about the lobster noodles Peking duck. Being a vegetarian is not easy to find a restaurant which they put thoughts and heart into making vegetarian dishes. And I am in love with their veggie dumplings! Well done

Went there out of curiosity with family. I must say it's not suitable for large groups as the dishes are tiny. The food doesn't taste bad, nor they are good, just nothing special to it. Very pricey. Having seen so many ads before it opens I must had my expectations too high.

Huami is the latest addition to the Federal Street dining precinct at SKYCITY. This isn't your typical Chinese restaurant so if you have your heart set on a giant plate of cheap greasy sweet and sour pork, you won't find it here. This is authentic food with a modern twist made with the best quality ingredients available in NZ. We came for dinner the first week it opened and WOW. The service levels here are of the highest standard and as good as what you'd expect from any high end restaurant. Staff were warm, attentive and knowledgable. You could really tell there was a sense of pride in the new restaurant they've just opened. The restaurant itself is utterly gorgeous. Everything from the open kitchen to the decor, tables, chairs and even the glassware is of the highest quality. Then there's the food... We were all blown away by each and every dish that came to the table. Flavours are clean and everything was equally delicious and so fresh! The Peking duck had amazingly crispy skin and tender meat thanks to the wood fired oven and the skill of the BBQ Chef. This paired with the Executive Chefs homemade hoisin sauce is a match made in heaven. Other stand outs for us were the soft shell crab and the black pepper beef. Yum! Desserts were tasty and beautifully presented which made for a perfect end to a wonderful evening.

Came here tonight with the fam and i can safely say the overall experience well worth a one time visit.<br/><br/>The waitress was absolutely the best! Her name was Penny and I can honestly say she made this evening sooooo great. She recommended a lot of the dishes which we ended up ordering and was super attentive and friendly. <br/><br/>The reason why I'd score 3.5 is mainly down to the price, taste and quantity of each of the dishes . The taste is good but not great and definitely not worth the price. The small portion sizes just don't allow me to justify paying so much when I can get the same taste and flavor at another Chinese restaurant for much cheaper . <br/><br/>I'd say if you had a special occasion or some cash money to spend it's a good place to spend the evening. The decor is stunning, dimly lit and the vibe is great. The toilets are also tres clean which is always a plus plus.<br/>From what we ate, i'd recommend the tofu, it had a great flavor. The kung pao style chicken had the most ridiculously hot chilli all through the dish. BEWARE of this dish. I got a mouthful of chilli on the first bite and it killed my appetite due to the burning after effect. Peking duck was just your average Peking duck. Dim sum were very tasty, but again quite pricey for 4 pieces, i think it was $20. The sweet and sour U10 prawns were tiny and underwhelming, have a look at the pictures below to give you an idea of what you get. The chilli fried rice was tasty but again nothing special. <br/><br/>Overall a lovely experience if you want to go out to a fancy Chinese Restaurant, without high expectations on mind blowing food. <br/><br/>Total bill for 5 of us without dessert came to $180

I'd read the exisiting reviews about Huami & wasn't sure what to expect particularly as they were very mixed. I can truly say, as someone that eats out a lot, that this new spot has it all. Great service, delicious food, and ambience. It's important to note that if you are expecting cheap & cheerful Chinese, or yum Cha, then this is not the place for you. They take their inspiration from these & mix them with fusion ideas & local food. <br/>We had a fantastic experience at the bar pre-dinner with a bartender (O'Neil?) - that man deserves a medal! Engaging, knowledgeable, a great start to our evening. If you can arrive early for dinner & have a drink at the bar it is worthwhile. They have a fantastic range of drinks as well as non-alcoholic options.<br/>Our waiter was Michael, and again he was awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable of the menu - nothing was too much trouble & he helped to take our evening to the next level. We had a slight issue with one dish & everything was sorted with no fuss at all. <br/>We had a range of dishes, and all were enjoyed - from a range of diners (Asian, UK & kiwi). All photos are labelled. We did have more dishes than the Max photos Zomato will let you load - again all were delish. <br/>If you like delicious Asian fusion food using new ideas & local ingredients you must try Huami!

Being in the city and thinking where to go for lunch we eventually settled on trying this new establishment which as we were told taken the place of the former Jade Dragon in Sky City. Its not long open so i would expect many people are wanting to try it out and thus when we went the place was booked out but still we sat by the bar and had something there. Service is good , though i could have laughed when the waiter asked (my other half is obviously Chinese and after quite a while now i'd say i got a good idea on Chinese food ) " were we familIar with Chinese cuisine?"....but i managed to restrain myself. It was good though he explained how the menu we had which was the dim sum menu worked. You mark what you'd like and they'll come get it. But there is only three items for each choice compared to the usual four. Thats minus a star already... We ordered the prawn dumplings with truffle on top....which probably helps to raise the price to $12!! ....and the siu mai was the same. As for the taste etc ..seemed lacking something in comparison to other places i have been , maybe could have called it bland?,and must admit some of them places have not been so flash!! We did also order the half Peking Duck...what a waste of money. What was it? A baby ...the amount on the plate being so small. The good thing about it was the nice duck shaped plate it came on. Was almost tempted to try take it home!! Haha!! Anyway we frequent a family run place out West Auckland where we can have a whole duck done two ways ( 两吃) for less cost than we paid today and the duck quantity is at least three times as much. Want to know where that is ??...ask me. All in all we were not at all impressed with this restaurant , bar the service which was good. Cost too much for what you get, presentation? ...well....and taste...lacking. Guess it doesn't help when you can compare it to restaurants in China. But then that's beyond comparison. Try it if you must. Otherwise give it a wide berth.

Went to Huami for lunch today. Setting was good service was great. The food is sort of fusion chinese. They had some yum char dishes that you could order. Everything had their own special twist. The food was nice but nothing stood out as great. Portions were well presented but small. Everything is expensive and we left feeling a little hungry. <br/>Perhaps this place would be good for a special occasion but for a Chinese meal you would be better off at many of the great chinese restaurants near by.

The atmosphere and environment is on point but the food is just meh. It kind of has a feel that's similar to Wong's in Sydney but foodwise, it just cant compare haha. <br/><br/>Definitely would not recommend the Dim Sums - they are overpriced and there is seriously nothing special about it (unless you wanna pay $12 for 3 prawn dumplings which is only made "special" because of the truffle on top or $12 for 3 pieces of siu mai with "XO chilli sauce" which isnt actually anything special...but I suppose some people roll that way). Plus you only get 3 items compared to the usual 4. The sticky rice was so oily that it was dripping with oil but if youre into that kind of thing then you might think it's yum. <br/><br/>So if you want Dim Sum, youre better off going to a proper yumcha place. There's also not a lot to choose from on their Dim Sum menu anyways. <br/><br/>Crispy aromatic duck: THEY BATTERED THE DUCK 💔  WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT lol. Basically it's a different version of the peking duck (the duck meat is battered and fried like fish and chips, whereas peking duck is mainly skin) but it was so bland and you had to rely on the sauce they provided. But then you also don't want to drown your wrap in sauce so.. 🤔 Seriously though, a duck didnt die for it to be battered 😤 <br/><br/>Marinated pork ribs with coffee sweet sauce: This was the best out of everything we ordered. Nothing super special but in comparison to everything else, this was not bad. <br/><br/>Go try it out if you haven't been! but it's not somewhere I (and everyone else I went with) would go back to. I feel youre basically paying for the presentation, rather than the food itself. Staff were friendly and the service was good but that doesn't make up for the average food.<br/> <br/><br/>edit: This really only deserves a 2-2.5 for the food 🙄

Came here last night and was quite happy with the overall experience here. For starters we ordered the ribs in sticky coffee sauce, chicken in chilli oil, deep fried octopus, salted duck and the dim sum platter. Everything was pretty good with the standout for me being the duck and least favourite would be the deep fried octopus. One of the dim sums also had truffle in it and it was beautiful! For the mains we ordered the Peking duck, scallops, tofu, steamed prawns, crayfish, black pepper beef, long beans and a seafood fried rice. Everything was super yummy although I found the portions a lot smaller than what you would get at a normal Chinese restaurant. It's definitely more pricier and you get less but the service from the staff was good and overall experience was good :-)
